Hi,
I'm just posting in the hope someone else may have had a similar issue.
My XDA Exec Freezes after certain duration (say 5-10 minutes) and cannot be restored, or brought back to life without a Soft Reset.
I have tried flashing the Device with Latest O2 XDA Firmware, Latest Imate Firmware ete, ete.
I currently have a workaround/solution which basically involves disabling the "Switch Off Device if Not in Use" Battery Option in the System, Power Menu.
If I do this, the Device Remains Active Fine (However uncertain whether this adversely affects battery life)
I'm Connect to Three Mobile in Australia on the UTMS WCDMA 2100 Network.
Anyone with any Ideas?

I have my JJ since October 2005. It worked 100% on the original ROM. Early Dec. 2005 I upgraded to the then latest Radio and ROM's. No issues.
Then suddenly From January I cannot get the Phone to work or connect to a data connection. I was told to upgrade to a 64Bit SIM which I did but still no result. I have installed every release of the Radio ROM and every ROM version compatible on the Uni up to date.
When the BAND is set to Auto it will not give me a data connection nor will the phone work. When in GSM same result. When I put the BAND in WCDMA it works 100%. Data connections work, Phone works, SMS etc. Problem is it only works in 3G areas now!
HELP, after 2 months I'm pulling out my hear and carrying my SP3i as backup.
Bump
@postman
what other applications are you using? Have you tried to start a fresh system with no third part apps (ie after a hard reset)? Have you tried to use the .cab files from i-mate for your network?
When I had a JJ I had frequent connections/disconnectiond between GPRS and UMTS. With the latest Radio on my XDA Exec I don't suffer from such frequent switching and it seems to have improved the batetry life as well. I used radio rom version 1.06.00.
J,
At the moment with the new ROM no apps installed appart from the ExtROM. Local network .cab also installed.
Problem is not as such that swtiching is taking place, problem is in BAND = Auto or GSM the Uni does not work for neither phone service nor data. When in WCDMA it works 100% without any issues. Like I said the prob. with this is that 3G is not covered like GSM, so if I leave work the phone feature is basically null and void as only GPRS/GSM/EDGE in area where I live.
Maybe the 3G and GSM/GPRS works off diff stacks / protocols or even hardware?
Yours desperate,

@postman, if you have tried to reflash your JJ and still the problem persists and the original problem did not occur because you added any third-party s/w then my conclusion is that you may have a hardware problem. Contact i-mate they usually reply within 2/3 days.
I would say you probably have a hardware problem !!, the GSM and UMTS aspects of the phone are very separate !!!
I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.
The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.
Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2 where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.
Why not bring all SOD threads to one?
As I see all SOD's are same on all devices.
There is bunch of symptoms but if you have sod than you are experiencing some or all of the symptoms.
General help is to hard reset few times than flash shipped ROM then hard reset again few times then flash your favorite custom ROM or leave shipped, and reset again few times. And finaly set network to GSM+AUTO in Phone band configuration. Or try to change SIM with another network operator.
All of this helped some people but there is many who did not solve the SOD with this nor anything else.
I know I am posting in more than one thread same thing and it is not double or triple or X posting it is just help request for people who could finaly understand what is problem and help us all.
Sory, and thanks in advance.

Hello all,
Not sure if anyone else is having this problem.
First of all, better to mention what my Aria is running on:
Stock ROM unrooted. Updated to Froyo from HTC via FOTA. I'm not located in the US therefore my phone isn't under AT&T which many here are. My ROM is strictly HTC's Asia's ROM.
Now I don't have much in a way of problems with my phone, its just odd to me that every once in a while (around once every week or so) I need to reboot my phone. This is because for some strange reason, my phone won't connect to the data network (3G) or it shows that it is connected but no data activity (even after I've instructed the phone to sync all information, i.e. weather, emails, etc). I've tried switching on/off the data network connection and also have tried switching between airplane modes on/off (in hopes to reset something) but nothing works.
I'm not sure if this is an inherent problem to the Aria's 2.2 update or if there is something wrong with my carrier, however the problem is ALWAYS FIXED right after a fresh reboot.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Phone information. Set preferred network.
Try switching between the different options.

Thanks for the hint thinkhope. I'll try your suggestion. May I ask what you think the problem may be?
Update: I tried it for a couple of days and I still get the same problem. I tried switching between preferred networks but the problem persists. Quick reboot and once again, fixed.
I also have this same problem, stock/custom ROM no matter which ROM the problem is still there, up to a point that made me wanna smash my phone on the ground. I tried to use my SIM card on my wife's SGS and seems like no such problems faced. Is this a common problem for HTC phones?
Hi all,
I have noticed that my DHD seems to disconnect the data connection on a regular basis and I find myself having to go into settings, manually disconnect Mobile Internet and then reconnect and it works OK again... I am in a coverage area so not sure why this happens...
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Yh have the same problem here on t-mobile
Yeah noticed that on three uk

I experience this Problem since today or yesterday as well. Thought it has a reason in my tasked configuration (that worked fine for 4 weeks) but after reading that thread there may be another reason.
Hmm this happened to me today a few times on O2 never had problem before. Data connection just switched itself off even though plenty of juice in battery.

I have had the same issue today, stopped the data. First thought it was a problem with provider vodafone. But after restart it was working again. Strange problem.

I'm just going to bump this....
And note that it seems to be data connection as well.

Hi. I have been facing the same problem. Has there been any resolution yet. I have come accross multiple threads with the same problem but no resolution yet..
Same problem i am with orange (UK) - only got the phone tuesday and the problem is intermittent. If phone has been in standby ro say 30 min then i turn on generally no data connection though the 'h' icon is present and the up arrow high lighted but down not. generally a restart helps, bt not always now sometime after fatory reset there is a problem with it dropping signal while in use. Have phoned orange first guy got me to set up a orange gprs wap APN that did nothing. lady i spoke with today very strongly suggested that as i am with 7 days of purchase to return it and void contract - she did not suggest getting replacement handset - this to me suggest that there is a general problem with handsets maybe be a bad batch (mine is chocolate) so i think i might take her advice and wait for the experia arc
The problem only seems to happen with hspda is ok with 3g areas

I had the same issue; connection would look active, 'upload' arrow lit but not 'download', had to manually disconnect Mobile Internet and reconnect to regain connection. This was happening on a daily basis (maybe every other day if I was lucky). No idea what the problem was, but I haven't noticed it again since flashing ARHD & new radio so I'm hoping that's solved it.
I was thinking flashing new radio might help - but given I still have the 7 day return option I am minded to return my phone and hold out for a xperia arc

Hi there,
First of all, I ran an extensive search over google and also on XDA forums before posting this.
My S4 (I9500) is experiencing random data connection drop problem for some time now. It starts with no data transfer (upload/download arrows not being active), then connection goes from H+ to H, then to 3G, then drops, back to H and continues until I turn off and on MOBILE DATA from toggle buttons. Then it works normal for some random time, then it happens again. Sometimes an hour, sometimes after 5 minutes.
I found this thread , however trying the workaround there by entering the provided code, I get "Connection problem or invalid MMI code". So that fix is not working either. I tried to go in service mode > debug screen > nas control and change revision to Release 5, but it says NOT SUPPORT. Haven't tried the other releases since I dont want to mess with it. I am also aware that the workaround in the above thread is for S2.
When this happens, it is just mobile data, there is no problem with network signal.
Has anyone else experienced something like that on their S4s?
The method you tried using is probably outdated and for a different phone.
Are you sure it isn't your provider?
Did you try another modem?

Nope.. I am working for a service provider company. Other people with iPhones in the same location as I am, are not experiencing the same thing. I heard similar problems with other S4 users, but they dont know any workaround either.
I tried both auto connect and WCDMA only options as well. Doesnt make a difference. My S4 doesnt support LTE, so I only have 3 options, third as GSM only, which I don't think it would be a solution.
Only temporarily solution so far, is turning mobile data off and on, which lasts from 5 minutes to 1-2 hours.
Btw my android version is 4.4.2
