Edit need sdkcerts if stock rom.
I saw it too and tried it out. I like it. It does speed some things up, messaging was really bugging me and now I can tolerate it. But using DCD's 4.1.2 there hasn't been any drastic improvements, it's already a fast rom. Still good app, noticed my battery lasting longer using the hack too.
Nice to now it helps
I have noticed slight improvements everywhere. but im running 6.5 so it probably had some room for improvements as far as speed.
Well i decided to make this thread has there seems to be numerous ROMs out there and they're suitable for different needs. I just wanted to know what you guys like about certain ROMs and what you think makes them the way you like it.
First ROM i used was ENERGY Mar 18th I think 23XXX for my Xperia X1
I found it to be a great Rom as my first. Except that it was too packed. Full of useless stuff that I didn't need. The ROM was fast but wasn't the most stable. Soft reseted probably once a day. Touch Flo wasn't really my favorite thing, it wasn't smooth and waste a fair amount of battery. Everything else seems to be alright.
Tried a few ROMs: x826, unOFF and Valkyrie
I didn't use this ROMs much, they seemed a bit choppy and wasn't really my taste. Valkyrie I used for a bit, no standby of death or anything and i thought it was better then ENERGY ROM.
Currently using Jack's Rom 5.4
This ROM would be my favourite overall by far. Its stable 21XXX and using Titaniums. It came with everything i needed especially the nice mapping of the XPANEL button to the menu (Of course you can do this to any ROM), but it was the first time i saw it so it was pretty cool haha. The ROM is stable as and i probably just soft reset the phone once a week just for a little new feel but its not really necessary. The phone battery can last me 3 days of usage using an hour a day for music, some web browsing and a lot messaging and a decent number of phone calls a day. The ROM is also very smooth.
Great post xxvelocityxx, but i have to say that 826X w/o sense is my personal fave. I get 2-4 days with constant texting. Also hero.
Im procastinating. Please leave me alone.
I also love

ALL of you are WRONG!
jus kiddin!
i use V-LITE Cobalt Hardcore.
I did some reading and figured it best suited my needs.
However, i'm a newbie and just got my xperia x1 a couple weeks ago.
I would like to know the pro's n cons of my rom.
Also, if there's anything else i should know, please do say.
Thankz!
I use the ROM in my sig (click it to visit the thread), and I've found it to be more stable than the stock ROM Battery lasts 2, maybe 3 days of constant SMS usage, but then again it's also a year and a half old. The only problem I have with it is the increase of storage memory and decrease of program memory. Though I'm sure Adv Config could edit those to desired values I'm just lazy
Thumb's Up for Wildchild's untamed 1.3 ROM,it proven itself to be absolute rock solid for me!
Let's put it this way, I need a phone that is reliable to me, it should wake me up in the morning! So i really can't use those overnight freezes.
I need to be able to charge the phone whenever its needed without risking any unexpected SOD's.
I need it to have a fingerfriendly OS, so i really needed a WM6.5 rom.
with Htc SenseUI! All Sense2.5 Roms and most sense2.1 Rom's caused my phone to freeze while charging overnight, or leaving WIFI connected.
Flashing Wildchilds rom whas such a relieve(Winmo6.5+Sense2.1+SE Panels+plenty of storage to add whatever you like!)
Hi to all.
This post because I've always experienced some lags with any keybord ( IME, Swift, Gingerbread, etc )
After the installation the speed was very high, but after few days there were lags here and there.
Any advice? Is this behaviour common to you too?
Now I'm running Froyd Villain 1.6.2 ...
Thank you
Pich
Many people from what I have read they have this problem with gingerbread, I am one of them..
Beside the fact that our Hero hardware is old, we just need to wait until a better and stable release will be available..
Thank you for your answer.
Yer Our hardware is old ... :-(
Anyway I have a Froyo Rom, and the problem was present in Android 2.1 and 1.6 too...
It happens to me aswell, it annoys me alot, even overclocked to 710Mhz, obviously its not as laggy as 528Mhz but still laggy, so i think i am going to get a different phone like an iPhone

I found out that also depends on the rom that you flash, everyone phone is different.
When I used to have Android 2.2 with Froydvillain, many people in the forum said that it was awesome and that the battery life was amazing, for me was not, and it was terribly laggy.
After I switched to floyo, a new Hero was born, It was flawless and the performance outstanding, I didn't experienced any lag or issue and I kept it for many weeks...
So as far as I know, for me it could also depend on what you flash sometimes, I guess is just simple as that..
i use the handcent sms ...with the tasty froyo 1.2, and is also quite laggy...
being a rom flash addict, i have tried most of the roms posted here. only overclocking seems to help slightly, though the lag wasnt that bad on the original sense rom
Swiftkey with any AOSP/CM based roms works good for me
Yeah... I have the same problem too. I use HTC-ime mod on Elelinux GB rom, but it lags from time to time randomly.
Hi,
I usually reinstall my HTC Hero with a different ROM every 2-3-4 weeks. Not because I enjoy it, but I experience that a newly installed ROM is quite fast, then over time, gets slower and slower and ends up being unbearably slow, kinda forcing me to reinstall.
My question is, how do I get around this? How do I prevent my Hero from being slower and slower so I can just install one ROM and stick with that?
I am quite sure that my flash has a swap (not 100% sure though, how do I check it?) and I am using a class 10 flash, so I guess it should be fast enough and not slow anyting down.
Also, I tend to think that it's a good idea to move all not so frequently used apps to SD, to free up main memory, but I am unsure if this in itself actually slows things down instead?
Any comments would be great.

The fastes ROM that i used on my hero was VillainROM 13...and damn is that fast or what...Now i use Salsa Sense 4.0 and the only problem is that it killes sometimes my SetCpu and it gets slow...
I'm now sure but i think that a 2.2 stock rocks on the hero...but elelinux has a GB rom that rocks (recommend if you like stock roms ).
PS: clock the phone @ 691 and you will get speed

if you like games i recommend VillainROM 13...even if is a 2.1 android rom but it's fast... If you want a everyday use SalsaSense 4.0 is fun but has some bugs sometimes...
If you want stock android i recommend ele's GB ROM
I see this problem to sometimes but i noticed that the GB internal task manager killed setcpu
I have tried a few different ROM's and best one i have used is Elelinux Speedmachinev4, went to the market and downloaded Android Optimizer ToolBox, and got rid of all the apps i did not need or plan to use (you could also use Adb command line to achieve this aswell as a few other methods), and used the cyanogen setCPU to overclock my CPU to 710mhz. Also using Adavnced Task Killer set to auto kill apps every 3 hours.
And all above combined i have never had lag or slowdown or any problems what so ever.
What utility do you use to flash?
I mean, I had this problem ages ago, I was using AmonRa Recovery..the gradual slowness was becoming a problem for me as well, so I did 2 things:
1. Got myself the latest AmonRa version.
2. Got the latest Radios and Kernels.
Haven't had a problem yet..
yes, same with you,I ususall re-falsh rom again,it is best solve for the issue.
You just need a faster/better rom on your Hero. If your still having trouble I recommend Kimera Rom its stable and very fast.
I've found that certain rom's slow down faster than others, for instance I've been running OMGB for two months now with no problems. Other roms take less than a week to slow down, and lose their 'smoothness'

When you are trying to run an app from your SD card, it takes longer time to receive data to your phone, so you are supposed to separate usual apps and games on different districts. And, installing too many unnecessary things on your phone will make your speed slower, so clean up your apps every months or even weeks is a good habit.
i never had this kind of problem, couse i change my roms almost every day
Hey there ppl! Merry Christmas btw!
I've been using gingerdx pretty much since its first release, and i really like it, but im starting to think that my phone is quite slow for launching apps, or when someone calls me, the phone starts to vibrate and like 5secs later the call screen appears, and when i want to slide the green mark its kinda laggy.
And i started to think that maybe the stock rom wasnt that slow and laggy as gingerdx is resulting to me...
So, as i used the stock rom for less than 4 days, then i started with froyo, and so on, i want to know if its smooter and faster than gdx, because im finding it quite slow lately...
Also, if the stock rom is like ****, i would like to know any other rom that you are using and you think that is smooth and fast, so i can give it a try, or maybe some advaices to make my phone faster!
Goodbye! Thanks in advance!

its a gb rom,but for me its really fast and i found no lags in it
Well, I can tell you my experience. I had been using GDX for a long time and I saw that multitasking wasn't something to brag of, you now. Music was stopping, web pages reloading and so on. Then I went back on stock. It isn't as bad as the majority of people say it is but still...after one week it started to p*ss me off. After that I installed FroyoBread which I'm currently on and I'm pretty satisfied. You should yry Froyo
Sent from my X8 that is soon going to be replaced with a Samsung Galaxy Nexus/S II
No so long ago, i went back from gingerbread to froyobread, and still it wasnt THAT better than gingerbread, thats why i was asking primary for the stock rom, because i thought that sony would develop something properly for the phone's capacity...
Ill give a try to dx froyobread one more time.
Goodbye!
Try the new froyopro..
Sent from my XPERIA X8 using xda premium
hmm gingercruzt 8.5 on nAa 08 kernel is very fast i m using it at the moment and its great
Which froyo rom should i try? i already used froyobread from dx a long time ago... Is there another? better or worse?
Goodbye!
Currently using stock rom.. i have no problems all my apps run smooth, battery ok. Im not a gamer on phone cause i feel upgrading only needed if i play games...
Sent from my E15i using Tapatalk
Im not planning to play games further than fruit slice and angry birds, thats all... All i want is a smooth and fast loading phone, is that the best for stock rom?
Goodbye!

Then you should Try 2.2 rom "FROYOPRO" But you have to modify it according to your needs like installing modules and google applications.
And for faster boot you have to change the bootanimation.zip with a lite one.
