I posted this in the BT thread, but no response. Maybe this will do. Hope someone can help me out
I read the same in a couple of posts for the new BT stack: I got the patch, installed it, request comes where to install, tried several places, nothing seems to happend (also after reset).
Also, sound is gone now. No ringtone, voice and music playback. There was a thead that discussed the same problem, but no solution other than hard-reset.
bt stack: BCHS_FOR_POCKET_PC_OZONE[1].ARMV4
I got the 1.13WWE/1.12R ROMs
tanx!!
Backup?
What about backups? the author recomended to backup your ppc bevor trying. I did so and was happy about that! This Stack did not work on my magician. nothing changes except the mentioned problems appeared...
But regarding your Question: I think there are two ways of getting rid of this porblem:
1) Hard Reset
2) Install a backup
I know this is not the answer you hoped to receive...but it is what i encountert
backups? what's that?
Yeah, I know, didnt make a recent one, so I'm the one to blame , but I read a post somewhere that restoring a registry backup did the job and the sound was back again. So, what's different between the faulty registry and the good one??
TCPMP problem with BT stack
wen u press the power button to go sandby mode the audio on tcpmp disappears

Go to the "Audio" tab in Bluetooth settings (manager) and uncheck the "Automute" checkbox. That should be enough.
I wish I could, but there isnt an extra tab which has that option

Then your installation is probably faulty... I guess, the only option is to unistall and reinstall, which I think cannot be done without a HR. Sorry...
I'm afraid that is the only option left, the problem occurd after the installation of the new BT stack: BCHS_FOR_POCKET_PC_OZONE[1].ARMV4
it asks for an installation target, but none seems to work, though files are installed and registry is changed (I see the new files in some entries), I see no new options in the BT menu
PROBLEM SOLVED!
I solved the problem!!!!
First, I used this in registry to disable the installation target request of the CAB file which does the BT stack installation:
http://www.pocketpctweaks.com/pocketpc_tweaks/force_install_location_prompt.html
Second, I installed the BT stack again
Third, I have al the options!!!!! disabled the Automute, but still no sound
Fourth, I use my labtop as a headset, connected, dailed, and got sound on my labtop!! Disconnected, turned up the volume, AND VOILA!!! SOUND!!!
happy I am, no hard reset needed

Just thought I'd bump this thread to say I had exactly the same problem, and could only resolve it by restoring from my weekly auto backup.
I have the aforementioned bluetooth stack installed, but I've had it installed for ages now. Automute was not checked. Checking and unchecking automute did not fix the problem.
Originally, the sound volume slider was moveable, but it would always return to the lowest setting whenever I clicked out of the volume box. I used the Bluesoeil switcher to change to the Microsoft stack, but this didn't fix the issue. Neither did switching the stack back.
It did change the fact that I was able to move the volume slider and not have it return back to the lowest setting immediately after changing. Despite this, sound still did not play, except via bluetooth.
Backing up and hard resetting fixes the issue. Last weeks backup is fine.
I can honestly say I didn't change anything. I woke up this morning and it was like that. Sound was working fine the night before.

My XDA II keeps turning itself on, as if a program is waking it up.
I have checked that no programs are running using the option under Start/Settings/System/Memory.
Is there a way to see what processes are running in the background?
It does this even when stationary on my desk so it's not an accidental button press.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I'd appreciate any suggestions on tracking this down as it has a huge impact on battery life.
Thanks.
yup... mine was caused by Activesync. Make sure you have all the settings set to "Manual".
You can also download "Notification Check" by Scarybearsoftware. It will go through your PDA and look for extra events that don't belong there.
For some time I was getting a calander event for some birthday that didn't even exist!
yep, here too
I notice that it turn on after upgrading from 1.66 to 1.72
I'm not sure that could be for this...
I'll try "Notification Check"...from scarybear software
I had this and it was doing my head in! But using the check notifications did not help. I thought that possibly some of the games I installed to my SD card may have caused the problem.
So I copied everything off the card, and formatted it in the pocketpc (resco explorer), not from a card reader! Then I copied everything back and since then not a single un-intentional turn on.
Cheerio

Well, it didn't fix it for me either. I'm now testing with the Storage Card removed.
I'll post back if I find anyhting.
Another problem is when your GPRS connection activates itself!! soo annoying.
Taking the storage card out made no difference.
So far, however, with Flight Mode turned on it seems to be fine.
If this is the case then that would be really annoying.
What would be going on with Flight Mode Off to cause the XDA II to wake up?
With the radio off, GPRS is also off (as is BlueTooth and IR).
Is GPRS turning the device on?
Immediately after the device powers itself on, tap the signal meter and see if GPRS is connected.
Do you have a POP3 or IMAP4 Email account set to retreive messages at a regular interval?
Thanks, I'd already checked those.
The radio off was a red herring. It woke me up at 02:06 for no reason that I coulod find, with radio off.
I'd really like to find this before doing a hard reset so that I can fix it again if necessary and posting here will help others.
There's nothing worse than curing a problem and you don't know how.
My feeling is that it is being caused by some program you have loaded . . . or worst case, by a combination of programs. Unfortunately, if that's the case, the most likely way to track down the culprit will be to -
1. Hard-reset your device.
2. Run it for a time with no additional programs installed to make sure the problem is gone.
3. One at a time, install a single additional program and run it that way for a while to see if the problem occurs.
4. Only after proving that the problem does not occur with that configuration do you install another program.
5. If the problem occurs after installing a program - Hard-reset the device again and install only that program - then you know if the program itself is causing the problem or if it is a combination of programs.
This does not necessarily sound like FUN . . . but I can't see a better way to positively identify which program is causing your problem.
HTH
Thanks for that. That is my thinking too.
I'll do that when I've got a few hours to spare and I'll post the results, identifying the offending program.
ON and OFF
I have the same exact problem.
And I did found out that this is some of the program I install.
Example : SPB Pocket Plus (also other Today's plugin)
I did a hard reset, and try with out any program, then ad one program, then two etc..........until I found out that SPB was the one.
unfortunatly I love some of the plugin, but I have to get rid of it, if I don't want my battery to fall off in one day.

This is curious, as I have SPB Pocket Plus 2.0 installed, and I have never experienced an unintended/spontaneous turn-on (of my imate anyway ).
try turing battery monitor off in sprite backup
and also turn off the battery bar thing in spb2
that sorted my probs out
Turning on
I use Pocketplus and don't have a turning on problem, except when cradled, in which case it continuously tries to sync, even with everything set to manual.
Don't think Pocketplus is the cukprit.

In my HTC TyTN, I often get a strange behaviour: when I press the center button or jog or simply enter on the keyboard, the volume (speaker) open and switches to OFF.
It will only happen once on every "session" that the device is turned on (or maybe it is once every x miunutes?)
Any one else had thiis problem? knows a solution to it?
I once had a similar problem where the jog wheel was controlling the volume, a kind of cool feature that I wish i could have, but only to the degree where i could turn it off. I simply did a soft reset and it never happened again.
I have exactly the same problem and it can be quite annoying sometimes. I have been trying to figure out if it is a particular set of circumstances that prompt it to happen but I haven't noticed a pattern yet.
I would be interested to know if anyone has figured why it is doing it and if there is a fix.
i guess you have imate rom, right?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=61541
The Rom I have on my phone is whatever the standard T-Mobile Vario II Rom is (not sure where I have to look on the phone to find out the name of it)
I have the original HTC ROM (never upgraded or changed ROM).
I suspect it has something to do with the Phone Alarm app. I still havn't validated it though.
Yes, it could be because I also have Phonealarm installed on my phone. I will have a look on the Phonealarm forum and see if there is any mention of this problem.
That is funny, because I am reading this thread and thinking I was not having this issue until I installed PhoneAlarm.
I can confirm I never had the issue until I installed PhoneAlarm. It started happening almost immediately after I installed it.
I have added a post on the Phonealarm forum mentioning this bug. Will just have to wait for a reply now to see if there is a fix.
here is a PA user too and i also discovered this bug
I thought it was a ROM bug but now i come close to the idea its a PA bug. Looking forward to read about the bug resolution.
Could you please post the mentioned post on Lakerridge forum?
Thx
I put a post on the Phonealarm forum and got a very quick reply from the developer saying it was probably to do with the one-click mute function (that I hadn't even realised was available )
If you go into the settings and then add-on's tab you will likely see that the one-click mute function is ticked, just untick it.
Since I have unticked it, it hasn't happened again so hopefully that is what it was.
next time we should read the manual
Hi,
I have MDA Vario version of HTC Wizard.
After a ROM upgrade (to version 2.21.2.11) I have the following problem :
If I set AlwaysOn=1 in the registry, then GPRS is always connected as it should be - but when the device goes out of standby (by pressing (I) button or by an incoming call/message), the keyboard and touch screen do not respond for 10-20s. I can hear beeps when pressing keys but nothing happens (e.g. I cannot pick up a call...). After an annoying while, everything goes back to normal until a next standby-wake up cycle.
I've re-flashed the device with my operator ROM three times already, no other programs are installed (except customization stuff) and still have the same problem.
Before I decide to use some custom ROM, I'd rather try to find some other solution...
Any idea ?
regards
Maciek
AHHH me too
same setting applied and now i can i get a white screen after the tmob boot screen. when i call my phone it dosnt ring but the send & end buttons light up. the green signal indicator light is on too, and thats it. it also sleeps after a few min like normal, but the when i wake it up, the signal light is flashing but the backlight is not on. i really want to figure out how to put a txt file in the root of a card with instructions ot reinstall the backup reg i have. or get an activesync of my favs, list of apps, and outlook. any thoughts would be appreciated.....its my first ppc/wm device (xircom rex 6k --> handera 330 --> sharp zaurus 5500sl --> sharp zaurus 6000l --> HTC Wizard/T-mobile MDA Vario).

Hi - I am having a problem almost identical to the one in the first post. when my phone is in standby something happens which means it does not respond when turned on for about 20seconds, although it will anser a call. it's very annoying if you want to add a date quickly or send a text.
I have turned off gprs always on, removed any storage card plugins, and changed exchange server to only sync the last 3 days instead of everything. I am really a bit confused as tbis problem has only come about since I installed the tmob 2.26 rom and latest uk radio (after unlocking my phone) my phone previously worked fine with the current uk rom but was very slow toboot up. I don't really want to downgrade but i'm not seeing much option rihgt now. did anyone ever solve this?
any help greatly appreciated.
I am not really sure if this is a result of the GPRS ALWAYS ON settings - it just does not look that way!
I had a similar problem without having GPRS always turned on. After I reflashed the phone with exactly the same ROM again everything works fine. Did you booth install the CUSTOM ROM integrated in the flashed ROM as well or did you perform a SOFT RESET before it could install? The reason I ask is because of I think the problem is in the way how the WIZ writes / adds contents to the REGISTRY. It might have been that you resetted the device a bit too fast after HARD RESET or REFLASH and some of your REGISTRY KEYS are messed up!
If you have the possibility to perform a HARD RESET or REFLASH of your device: please try it and see if the problem persists! But please do not reload a backup afterwards because it would import also the faulty registry again ...
Please post your results afterwards, so, others would have a solution in future!
will give that a shot, although I did a completely clean install on this phone - no imported backups etc... is there any tool that can reset my registry to default settings?

Not really!
Depending on your phones ROM and CUSTOM ROM your registry will differ from others anyway, so, the only one way to get a 'default registry' is to perform a hard reset.
So I am having this new problem ever since I have data. When it is connected, which is all the time, it takes ~3-4 seconds to actually answer a phone call after pressing the answer button. If i turn off data, picks right up. anyone else ever have a problem answering calls with data connected?
If you dont have problems, can you please comment that you dont so i know other people's phones are working. thanks
Slow to answer calls
I am having the same problem. I noticed it first when I installed the 3.16 rom with GPS so wondered if that was the culprit.
i think it is occurring when you are connected to data. i turned it off and works better, but i dont want to have to turn my data off i just started paying for it and love having it.

Perhaps I'll try uninstalling and see if there's a change. Or is this something else I should know?
well...i did a hard reset, installed everything BUT the advance configuration thing...all working great. Plus i had a problem with the backlight being disabled, now that works fine. guess that Schaps Advance configuration program screws up a lot. Thanks for thinking of it
Mine was doing the same thing and I looked all over and found in ppcgeeks that several people found that advanced configuration was the cause. You have to do a hard reset. I unistalled it and did a hard reset and installed all the same programs except that and bam the issue was fixed. What a pitty because I praise Schaps Advanced configuration. It makes it a lot easier to change settings. I am not sure of the exact issue or if it has been fixed but not installing it fixed my issue.
I cant find the link that I read before, but here is a link that states it too. Do a backup of your phonedo a hard reset install all the apps but Advanced Config and see if it helps. Worst case restore the backup.

or
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6800-xv6800/101646-delay-before-hearing-caller-hello-hello-hello.html #9
I'm having the same issues.
Delay only happens when data is active.
Running DCD 2.3.1, Radio 3.27, and I do have Advanced configuration installed.
I cooked in Advanced Config, so I have to reflash to take it out. If you find an easier way of isolating the problem I'd love to hear it. Otherwise I'll have to flash with nothing and add slowly till I determine the culprit.

Looks like it could definitely help! I'm imagining this is translated to something like "Do NOT control the power state of Bluetooth".
I'll make the reg change, reboot, and report my findings after a couple of days. I usually ran into the Bluetooth switching off problem after having Wi-Fi enabled.
Thanks for this!
I have no problems with enabling WI-Fi since I applied this reg setting. I’ve also noticed that if you switch your Bluetooth off and back on again the reg setting that is applied defaults back to the original setting, so it will have to be set again

Thanks for sharing as I am experiencing the same problem of Bluetooth turning off every time I reboot my phone.
Sent in my phone to the Local Service Centre and they reflash the ROM but still encounter same problem.
I even bought another X1 to try it out and still same problem so it is confirm that it is the firmware problem not just my phone.

That also makes sense, i suppose it's just a status entry then...too bad. I just hope that the eventual fix from SE is in a .cab package so that we don't have to reflash. My unbranded ROM is running sooo perfect right now...with the exception of this very common issue!
It seems that the Bluetooth does not always stay on as I experience it being turn off if I go into the Connection/Bluetooth/Mode menu.
Does that mean that we do not go into the menu to check on the settings then it will not be turn off again?

Hi!
The problem of mine that Buetooth Hedset buttons (play/pause, ffd) wake it up the telephone from a sleeping manner. How is it possible to repair this?
Thank You!
