Messenging shows blank emails? Anybody seen this? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I had to do a hard reset last night after a corrupted software install caused system to behave strangely. Everything was fine after the reset, and I proceed to load all the usual softwares.
For some strange reason the Email messenging software wouldn't display any mail. It was working fine prior to the reboot. Now it would check and retrieve mail headers, but clicking on the header shows a blank screen. Also sending a new mail shows a blank screen. As if the text editor was wiped out.
Anybody seen this before? What is causing this problem?
Thanks.

This is a very common problem with Messaging. Check whether there're any files in \Windows\Messaging. Those are the mail bodies (see my description of the Messaging frtamework if interested.) If there're, how many are there? What are their size?

there are 28 files and an attachment directory, most 2-4k, and one of each 14k, 15k, 30k. I do have 24 headers shown in messenging window. The larger files are probably those headers that I tried to download the complete body. But still they wouldn't show in messenging.
What do I do with these files? Delete them?
Thanks again for the help.

I get this issue quite often as well as the messages being shown but if there is an attachment (Shown on main list as a paperclip) the attachment is not listed once opened. The only way I have solved both issues is to re-boot again, connect Messenger and THEN re-sync. Seems to work for some reason.

Strange none of these files are not displayed. In most cases, there're no files in \Messaging at all, which causes Messaging not to display anything.
Try removing your POP3 account and, after that, recreating it. Hope it helps.

Are these files with .mpb supposed to be associated with some program? It doesn't seem to know what program to open the file with. I was able to open the file with Word and see the content. But I was thinking maybe it's supposed to be associated with windows messenging?
Thanks again for the suggestions.

Ok problem solved. Used the clear function to wipe out all mails, and download everyting again from mail server. Everything showed up.
Thanks for all the helps!

The error I get is
"Unable to display the attachment."
This happens with all types of attachments.
Are there any email db's or something I can delete to get it working again? pocket db explorer doesnt seem to list any like it did on my xdaII.
can anyone help... I have no time for a hard reset!

Just wondering....Have you used Pocket Machanic Professional?
I have the same issue among others.
after much fiddling last night i eventually broke the OS and it wouldnt start up with a storage card inserted...
so i hard resetted ansd restored from an old backup
oh no.... seems like I have this problem again......
What would cause this problem??? Does anyone have this issue as well?
Anyone?
I just tried resyncing via deleting all email accounts and also removing email from sync'd items.
I also tried moving the attachments from storage card to memory and vice versa, via the account options for storage in the email program.

Attachments not downloading

I am having an intermittent problem with email attachments not downlaoding and it is totally confusing me. I have my settings so that all emails and all attachments of any size can download and some of the time this is fine but other times (like this morning) the emails will download but the attachments wont download when I prompt for them to come too. It is the same problem whether using wifi or gprs/3g as my settings are identical anyway.
Has anyone got any ideas. I am fairly certain that the attachments that wont open are ones that are large. It seems that the device is forcing emails to be attachments that weren't attachments in the first place. For example when I opened an email this morning it was blank with an attachment but when I checked my laptop and went for the same email it was a text email with an excel file attached. I didn't know what was contained in the email at all though because Ihad only been faced with an attachment that wouldn't download and it was work so luckily I was still at home.
Has anyone any ideas. I am computer and MDA literate but when it comes to registry tweaks and cooking ROMS forget it - not my thing
help
Has no one any ideas on this one - it must be something simple surely.
I have the same problem with me HTC, on both wifi-gprs each time I click on the attachment to email. It reads "Attachment will download next time you connect" I can't work that out
I dont know...but maybe it could be related to memory...
If you are having this problem with "large" files or emails maybe they do not download becase there is not enought free memory for the file in your device...
Have you set the PPC to save attachments to sotrage card or they store in main memory??
has this happened when you have a lot of mails in your inbox or with very few??
I'm just guessing here but it could be a chance...

Attachment issue with HTC Mail and Exchange ActiveSync

Has anyone else noticed this and found a solution?
I setup HTC Mail to talk to my company's ActiveSync server. It downloads and sends emails just fine, however if an email contains an attachment, I can't retrieve the attachment.
At first I had it setup not to fetch attachments. The email would show there was an attachment with the proper file size, however when I would manually force the download everything comes back as 1kb and won't open.
I changed the setting to retrieve all attachments less than 500kb (which covers 90% of them) and they still won't download and open.
I'm trying out "Exchange" by TouchDown, but seem to be running into the same issue. Even if it worked, I really didn't want to have to use multiple email clients.
Does anyone know if this is resolved in Froyo?
bump
bump anyone?
I think it requires an SD card to be installed. Download refers to /sdcard folder
Hi
I'm having exactly the same problem as you but for the moment I've got no solution have you managed to resolve it ?
If so how?
Thanks

Email issue: not sending or auto-addressing

My email stopped working right about 2 weeks ago. It MAY be related to the new TMOUS ROM I loaded, but not sure. I can reply to email without issue, but I can't auto-address an email, nor can I send an email that isn't a reply. In auto-addressing, usually I start typing an address and options show up, not anymore. In sending, I type in an email address (not a name) and hit send. The soft button flashes, but nothing changes on the screen. I tried searching on email issues, re setup all my email information without using Manilla (native windows setup), and tried soft-resets galore. No go.
One complication in the past has been I have a large contact database (12k names) and so autocomplete often took some time (30 secs or so) to bring up options. Now however, I can leave it plugged in over nite and no suggestions.
Any thoughts anyone?
OK tried a bunch of stuff, finally gave up and re-installed the 2.13 ROM update. Without re-installing all my stuff, I tried it again. Same problem. However, I had already sync'd my contacts, so don't know if the database size is the problem. Used to work fine in the previous ROM (2.10).
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Bump? Anyone else having trouble with email?
I found a portion of the issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544453
While the autocomplete suggestions are coming up now, the email still doesn't send. An additional issue is that I can't save the email to drafts either.
Another symptom, periodically I will click on an email, and only a blank screen comes up.
Did the hard reset again, and rebuilt one app at a time. Nothing caused the email problem. Seems to be related to my contact database. I'm either going to have to shrink that, or find out if something in the database is corrupted...
So I restored my database a little at a time (by unplugging the cable during sync. ) It was working fine until I put the last ones in. Then all three symptoms occured simultaneously (no address drop down, no send, and blank emails on view). I suspect at this point a corrupted record in the database, but it might still be size based. I found a couple of chinese characters in the database, which might be the problem. Deleted an restored that record, but doesn't fix it. May have to hard reset again...
Does anyone know a way to clean up and verify the integrity of an outlook database?
PIM database too big?
The problem does seem to be with the size of the database. I found that by removing one category of contacts (~4000), behavior reverted to normal. Restoring and then removing another category (~4500) did the same thing, so it does not appear to be a corrupted database.
While this works, it would be nice to have all my contacts back in. Does anyone have an idea on the limitations of the contact database size?

[Solved] Manila email tab restarts when trying to view it

I post this up in case it helps anyone else.
My phone had been working fine, and then following an exchange sync, everytime I went to the Manila email preview tab, no envelope showed up, and after a few seconds Manila would restart.
A soft reset did not help.
All the advice I could find directed me towards the manila xml files BUT I believe this was actually the result of something else.
When I went in to my email via the windows email option on the start menu, I could see a surprising email with no subject or sender. This was not present on outlook in my work PC in front of me.
This email appeared to be spam with just images attached (but I did not open them). Deleting this on my phone immediately resolved the issue with Manila.
I suspect it was some kind of a partial image of an email stopped by the exchange server as suspicious.
I think I have seen this before on mine as well although I might not have noticed the problem with manila before just deleting the email.
Just in case this stops someone rooting through their kitchen for the fault when that may be unneccessary.
UPDATE:
This issue still happens now and then.
My latest theory is that it seems to be linked to images in the emails.
The latest one I have with no sender no subject actually has the contents from an earlier email (picked up at the most recent sync) which had images in it as well as words. There seems to be no server side issue so I presume it is an issue with outlook on the phone.
