HI ,
Stumbled on this site and had to join , Its great .
I live in sydney Australia and bought the O2XDAIIi from **** smith.
Rom Version : 1.11.00 WWE
Rom Date: 01/27/05
Radio Version:: 1.00.00
Protocol version: 1337.39
ExtRom version 1.11.923 WWE
CPU : intel(r) PXA272
speed: 520MHz
Ram size: 128mb
Flash Size: 64mb
Flash chip type: 28F256L18
Data Bus :2bits
Stoarge size 59.68Mb
Model: PH10C
I mainly use my O2xdaIIi as a phone and Gps navigator .
Navigator software i use is from Navman (smartst )
I have done some reading and have a few questions ..
When i installed the navman gps software It required registering which I
did no probs , I tried to install same software for a friend to no avail as failed to register as software reconised different unit and failed to register ,maybe by mismatching imei etc.. dunno .
Anyways I am experiencing some problems like
My XdaIIi is jamming bout 3 times a day and requires soft resets .
Also jams while using navman gps software like 2-3 times in space of 9 hours (taxi driver)
BT headset disconnects frequently and requires manual reconnection or
turning off headset and repowering up for reconnection .
My concerns are ..
1. will upgrading the rom help with these issues ?
2. After upgrading will i have a problem reinstalling my navman software , ie registering my software by it not recognising my device as the same one ?
3. which software update do you guys recomment for me?,I have downloaded
(Alpine_Ext-1.11.162_Radio-104_O2stuffstripped_Camera_Fixed)
but have not upgraded yet .
4 Is there different upgrades for different countrys
As I am In Sydney Australia
Thanks in advance for any help
Sam.
PS would be cool if anyone has a solution regarding installed my naveman software on another device and getting round the registering issue .

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who posts to this forum - I've been reading it for a month or so now and am constantly impressed with the quality of the knowledge here, especially the developers...
I have a QTEK 1010 bought here in Dubai, UAE, with the following device info:
ROM version: 4.00.01 ENG
ROM date: 05/16/03
Radio version: 3.23.01
Protocol version: 32S54
I have found that browsing using IE feels slower, and have the feeling that this version of the ROM does not work well with the radio version. Does anyone reading this forum live in the UAE? I'd like to upgrade the Radio, but need to know which version works best with Etisalat (our Telco).
Any comments much appreciated!
Thanks, Doms...
P.S. I'm going to upgrade the ROM to 4.00.05 when I get the opportunity
hi, i am from dubai and i am using 4.00.1 from t-mobile and 4.21 from o2, so far everything fine just when i reset the t-mobile logo appears.
do you have bluetooth option in that version and your version was already installed or you upgraded yourself?
Use the o2 Radio Version 4.21 it will work fine...
Thanks for the responses guys. Does this new radio version provide any benefits over the one I have?

1) The QTEK does not support Bluetooth, and there is no way to make it work on a QTEK either.
2) There is no Bluetooth option in any of my menus or settings (I would expect this as my device does not support Bluetooth). Windows PPC2003 is supposed to be able to support Bluetooth, however: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/products/pocketpc/about/2003/bluetooth.mspx
3) I upgraded to the 4.00.05 version of Windows PPC2003 myself using Jeff's ROM Kitchen (thanks Jeff!) http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/ROMkitchen/
Hi, Once i had 4.00.01 and in connection setting i had Bluetooth option but ofcourse it was not working, the other thing is do you know any camera work with SD port of Qtek? i mean something availble in the market.
4.21 is more stable i think.
cheers,
I had some problems when making calls on my QTEK yesterday. While in a voice conversation audible clicking noises can be heard and after about 1 minute of conversation the quality of the call deteriorates until the other party cannot hear me. I'll try upgrading the radio...
I don't know about the camera support using the SD slot in the QTEK. My first instinct would be to say no, it's not possible, but I can't confirm that...
I bought a Qtek 1010 in Dubai Duty Free the other week. I've since upgraded the ROM using ROMkitchen and am delighted with it. One thing I did notice though is that the speakerphone functionality (claimed in the Qtek handbook) doesn't seem to work. I didn't try it before I upgraded so can someone tell me if it works with the native UAE ROM code, and if so does anyone have any idea how I could get it working again?
David
I own a QTEK in the UAE and here is my share to those asking about OS and Radio updates here:
I upgraded from
ROM version: SER 1.2
Radio version: 3.23.01
To
ROM version: 4.00.10 ENG (T.Mobile Test)
Radio version: 4.21.00 (O2 UK)
Everyting seems to work fine apart from 2 minor issues so far:
Make sure you set your band to 900Europe as the default is 1900North America in phone/tools/options
The signal fades out sometimes but doznt affect the reception
No G signal but GPRS is OK.
GPRS stays connected; have to turn phone off and on to disconnect.
Advice:
Read a lot before you upgrade. This forum has a wealth of information.
Cheers

Hello guys,
I was looking for a solution for my problems with my Qtek S200 and Google pointed me to this forum. Found lots of useful info here, however couldn't solve any of the problems I have. Hopefully some of you can help me.
1. no matter what I do, the device wouldn't sync through the USB cable, it will only sync through IR (I'm using ActiveSync 4.2, same problem with 4.1 before I updated)
2. wouldn't beam files through Bluetooth. No problems with receiving files though.
3. I've tried to update the ROM, however all I got was "Invalid vendor ID". I've tried Lockiwiz to unlock the S200 before trying to update the ROM, however it came up with an error message aswell, so it turns out to be impossible to update the ROM either. I've tried registering my device on Qtek's support website, but it wouldn't take my IMEI number.
More info on the S200:
ROM version: 2.9.7.24 WWE
ROM date: 2/9/06
Radio version: 02.07.20
Protocol version: 413.1.03
ExtROM version: 2.9.7.106
Model No: PM300
I would appreciate any opinions and suggestions on how I can fix these problems. 10x :!:

Thanx s2tephen, that was really the problem! I went through Microsoft's instructions, however I had to exit the firewall to make ActiveSync work.
Anyway, 1 down, 2 left!
Unlocking

You just have to upgrade the radio!!
In order for the GPS to be activeted, "just" upgrade the radio - no need to upgrade the OS, if you do not have the need/wish for it.
Look here for instructions:

Should work, from the details you have given.
Try to re-flash the radio - I have previously have had a need to re-flash the radio, because the first upgrade did not perform as expected. A subsequent re-flash solved my issue.

You can try manually setting up the GPS to COM9 and maximum baud!
Hi to all gurus, devs and peeps of this forum.
I just received my new 8525 in the mail.
Currently using:
ROM version : CRCs PHKv12r9
ROM Date : 11/06/07
Radio version : 1.16.00.00
Protocol Version : 32.53.7018.01H
- I am having a major problem when I try and beam files through Bluetooth.
1) I do not show a progress bar - A.K.A Percentile of compleation
2) I have a hard connecting to device after sucessful pairing
Is there a problem with my phone ? Or is every HERMES act like this one ? I'm thinking it is my Radio Version that is too low but im just guessing...
Sorry if this is a double post I have been reading forums but haven't found an answer to my questions so I figured I would post.
Thank you all ...
I also have trouble setting up my wap setting with my provider FIDO in Montreal, Qc ... If any can help I would really appreciate it ...
Hi guys,
I have upgraded succesfully my QTek 9090 BA to WM6 following the wiki, have some issues with WiFi and would like to upgrade my ROM...I guess...I'm new on this PDA world so still confused with terms.
I'm following the Wiki and got stuck here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...0.ROMx20.thatx20.willx20.workx20.forx20.mex3f.
My Device ID returns only:
P H 2 0 B W W E AT%CID? 5 . 6 0 . 0 0 1.12.00 % 4
So for what I understand:
MOdel PH20B
Lang: WWE (English)
Operator: AT%CID?
Rom Version: 5.60.00
Extended Rom version: 1.12.00
Radio Version: 4
Is this correct?
If so, I don't understand if this: BA_WWE_BP_12200_169_10602_SHIP.exe would be good for me...
Can you please help?
Thanks!
The Devicedata file was need in the old days (WM2003).
Now on WM6 (and WM5) the file does not matter or make much sence.
BA_WWE_BP_12200_169_10602_SHIP.exe
This is a 2003 rom with the rom vesion of 1.22 (making it old even for WM2003 as 1.4 was the last I can remember), the Radio is 1.602 (which is even older than your 1.12 (1.15 is the current one))
Best bet for you is the WM6 rom and up your radio to 1.15 (wiki will tell you how).
Hope that helps
Hi! and really thanks! It confuses me how 1.6 can be older than 1.15...?? Anyway, I updated to Radio rom 1.15, however reading more I found that it has nothing to do with WiFi...
Now, I seems to be understanding more and more about the Roms, extendend roms and radio roms with TypeI and II.
I have been looking at the FTP site and what I still need to understand is what Rom to use...how do you difference those codes? I'm using rar 20226...is this ok? Any newer ROM or more stable?
And what defines the WiFi driver? The ROM itself? I have the problem that my WiFi signal is very poor...
Thanks again
There are a few thiings that are wrong with the BA as it is end of life and if it was not for XDA-Devlopers it would be dead.
Wifi has its issues there is a work around and that has something to do with the way you start it. (to be honest I can't remember what you have to do but search will help)
Bluetooth is the other know issue, if you don't want to make friends then the best way to do this is post a "My Bluetooth does not work thread". That a low post count will get you flammed at big time.
The Type I and type II roms were based on the format of the roms and the tools we used about 3 years ago. Some smart guy worked out you could bypass this whole porcess (the checking of the country code) by using a flash program form some other HTC device.
So by the time WM5 came out then the "on id exe" solved that issue and we have been using it ever since.
The radio you talking about is 1.06, if you want to look at some of the roms we had found and posted on the FTP (unitll M$ got us to close it) then try this link.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Versions
Extra rom was a carrier based issue (wiki has a whole section on it) however WM5 and WM6 did not use the same system so the space was reused for the rom (is one of the steps in the upgrade process).
As for the best rom, this is up to you.
Xplode used be active and now its Sun_dream.
Both of these guys know there stuff and have my Full respect.
Have fun
