i-mate JAMin standby mode - changes brightness - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

Every few hours my i-mate JAMin get into sort of standby mode - and then, when I try to "wake" it I can see the display in the minimum britness possible. I the need to find my way in the dark and manualy changes brightness to higher britness mode.
Why does this happen? Did it happen to someone?
Thanks,
Shai

tytn screen brightness

hello all,
i just received my o2 xda trion today and am quite pleased with it (coming from a tmobile mda (US). one issue i'm having with it though, is that even if i have brightness maxed in the settings, it doesn't seem to be at it's max. i can tell the difference between the trion's full brightness vs. my mda's full brightness and it's slightly lower. another way i noticed, is that right before starting the camera...the screen goes to full brightness. after exiting the camera app, the brightness goes back down.
does anyone know if there's a reg hack to fix this?
i've come across this vjlumosII app for the htc magician here: http://vijay555.com/?Releases:VJLumosII
the full brightness works, but the icon to turn it off doesn't on the tytn. this is a problem, since opening the camera app when vjlumosII is active causing the phone to soft reset.
any help is greatly appreciated...thanks
wow, nobody has any idea huh?
I was only recently informed that VJLumos II workes on TyTN - I've also been told by Paul at Modaco that VJCandela works That's great news!
VJLumos II was written just for the Magician, but 50% works on the Universal. I never had time to finish it off, but I'm thinking of upgrading to the TyTN, so might get around to it now. Stay tuned.

awesome...if you can get it 100% working for the tytn, then you can look forward to a donation from me
Me too!
me too Vijay!
Also i noticed that with the screen brightness all the way up the battery drains way faster and the device gets quite hot.
The TyTN should be able to do more brightness than it allows now. When you push the camera button, you see the added brightness for just a moment.....

Hermes vs. Wizard switch-on time

I just played with my old Wizard (now my wife's) and I just realised it comes on much faster from standby than my Hermes.
The Wizard's screen illuminates instantly (or near enough) when the Power button is pressed whereas my Hermes takes up to two seconds.
Anyone else notice this? Can it be fixed?
The wifi may explain this; when it is activated the tytn take a little longer to wake up. As I dont have any wizard I cannot speak about that kind of device.
The Hermes powersave mode is a strange beast. They've always been this way. I noticed it immediately too when I switched from my 8125. Also, A2DP shuts down in powersave mode and return from powersave always forces portrait mode.

Not for me! What did I wrong?
I agree. There was an earlier post on that. My Wizard was switching on much faster. The Hermes takes a while to switch on. On the today screen I only have the phonealarm. Frankly wizard felt much faster than hermes.
Yes, the Wizard powers on the screen faster, but I find that it's slow for a second or two. My Hermes takes a second, but I've never seen it anything other than ready to go at that point. Of course, it could be differences in loaded software, etc.
Still, any difference there pales in comparison to the speed in general use. Rotating the screen is a 1 second thing instead of 5.
Is the speed issue due to WM5's spec requiring the use of flash RAM rather than standard RAM to save data loss on a flat battery?

Both the Wizard and Hermes run WM5.
In addition to these theories I've noted in a previous post that having either of the lock/password protection options enabled gives you a second or so of white screen when bringing out of standby.

Ok... cough up the reghack plz.....
This one's been aggravating me for some time now! It's especially annoying when I'm using my BT keyboard since I always place my TyTN onto the stand landscape oriented.

universal fails to start sometimes

Hi,
I'm very happy with my universal (wifi and vga in pocketsize) only one thing is driving me crazy.
every, say once in 10 times the universal won't start when I press the power button. (after it turning off automatically after a few minutes when on battery power). Worse yet, it doesn't accept phonecalls and smses anymore either..so it already crashed silently. Unfortunately you can't see this from the outside since the lights still flash. I only notice it crashed when trying to start the device.
I've updated to wm6 because I thought it was a wm5 issue, but it wouldn't help. I also updated to radio 1.13 (the orange radio stack as found on this site). But this too, didn't fix it.
does anybody else have the same problem?? This problem renders my whole device unuseful. =^(
thanks!
Reinier
Welcome to the club...looks like no solution on this one yet. Here is a link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=272938
Some say it might be incompatibility with the SD card, but not in my case.
Hi,
that doesn't sound too good.
Anyhow, I'll experiment with it some more (what else can one do?) to see what is making it crash more or less (wifi/sdcard/simcard/battery?)
I'll post my findings... maybe we can find some mutual thing which might be causing it
I doubt it is software related since my whole machine is wiped clean and has nothing on it
R
yes, me too...and it seems to get worst as time goes by...anyways, I suggest that if you have any warranty left to send it back for warranty. GOodluck!
thats a pretty good point... ;^)
I'll check.
too bad it's quite vague description:
yes, sometimes it doesn't powerup..
you can already see the technicians there... they try it 4 times, it works everytime (of course) , and they send it back with a sticker saying 'correct'
ah well.... lets not get ahead of time.

What do u mean with PM?
DId u get the solution?
See ya folks
Solution
Check you PM means check ur private messages
A fellow here with the same problems sent his device for repair and the problem was voltage control unit of mainboard
Solution:
1. Install Pocket Hack Master and go to settings and disable the CPU scaling of the device. Then set it to start at startup. Then clock your device at 312 mhz before turning off the device or closing the clamshell. You can always clock it to 520 while using cpu intensive applications. Just make sure to set it at 312 before turning it off.
thank you buddy
Jumanji1212
Did it also work for you? I forgot to add that I am also using an external charger specifically for Universal because Im afraid charging it via miniusb might mess up the voltage control unit more.
Well, i normally charge it with the ac/dc adaptor but not always. Since i deleted spb diary today plug-in and installed the latest qtek spanish rom and radio, the time of the white-screen shorten.

Hello, I have the same problem (Power button does not start after an auto sleep).
My qtek 9000 however gives a blank screen when playing with the PHM speed tests. (When it is plugged in it works.)
Now I am a little afraid to do the "set it to start at startup"
Is there no risk it will never startup anymore?
Can I do this (temporaly) just for testing without the auto startup option?
So: disable CPU scaling and set the speed on 312 and put it in sleep mode.
I need my Qtek so badly that I get horribly stressed with this kind of things.

An big issue with cynogen 12s

When we reduce the screen brightness to the lowest the screen goes dark completely! We cant see anything!
Again we need to restart and the screen stays on for just 3-4 seconds!
In that 3-4 seconds we need to swiftly increase the brightness or else it ll get off again !
Den we need to restart and try again!
It happens nly if adaptive brightness is on!

You can resolve it by turning off color enhancement in the display option. Its a software issue. If you want to view your screen which is completly dark now, go to a bright place and hold the mobile.. It will be visible.. Then change the settings.
Yeah ?

Auto brightness training

I often have to be very persistent in training the phone for brightness in the auto mode. Especially in the evening, when the brightness slider is to the left of the middle. I set the desired brightness, but it is not fixed. You have to do it 10 times or more, and after a minute the brightness again lives its own life. Has anyone come across this on customs ROMs? Everything was great on stock.

Maybe you don't know auto-brightness can be trained due to users preferences. At least it works on stock.
Or don't you use auto-brightness at all?
I am accustomed to auto-brightness at any time of a day and I like to use it. I don't want to change it mannualy after each changes of circumstances.
However on the custom ROM the process isn't so easy. I just have doubts if it will be successful at all.

There is nothing special to say more here. Just in the auto-brightness mode, the user sets the slider to the desired level at any time. This is repeated a certain number of times and after that the phone remembers the new settings and, depending on this, the new auto-brightness algorithm works. The learning process for brightness is endless. You can adjust it anytime to your preference. In any case, it worked fine on stock and the phone memorized new settings very quickly.

oh! its a cool thing. Thanks
I tried A11, A12, A13 ROMs, and after that I'm on A10 stock again. I think that's the best way for me to keep my nerve sells. Now the autobrigness doesn't even need additional training.
