Hi All
Been searching to find the reg hack to turn pie into IE6.0 .
Any one remember where it is
I need some sites not to recognise im using pie.
_^.^_
You can use a program called Tweaks2k to set PIE to pass as IE 6.0.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\
"(Default)" "Mozilla/2.0" -> "Mozilla/4.0"
"Version" "MSIE 4.01" -> "MSIE 6.0"
"Platform" "Windows CE" -> "Windows CE; PPC; 240x320"

Intall Microsoft Device Emulator: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...a8-1dd7-426f-a913-4f370a65a582&DisplayLang=en
Windows Mobile 6 Professional Images (USA).msi is the file you need perhaps.
Start it ... install some registry editor and look at the default values.
When i screw things up ... that's what I do.
the problem is, i only need the original registry from the hp ipaq 6965 PIE on wm5..
Then download Device Emulator Images for Windows Mobile 5.
I don't think that there will be great differences in registry settings in Device Emulator Image and your device -- maybe just the homepage of the PIE.
P.S. I don't quite get it ... "Trying on PIE WM2006" and then you ask "original registry from the hp ipaq 6965 PIE on wm5" ... please be more specific.

I reaally want to know how to use this software..mind to teach me?
Install the files in the link posted above.
After you install it, look for a "Windows Mobile 6 SDK" folder under All Programs. You should see a folder under there called "Standalone Emulator Images". Click on one of the emulators in that folder and wait patiently for it to start up (it took a while for me).
Once it's up you can use it like a real device.
I've been playing with it since it was released and honestly I'm not impressed. The new IE is still as slow as frozen molasses and the cool new Today Screen seems to be for WM6.1 Standard only (or atleast it's not there by default and I can't see where to enable it). ymmv though.
and if u want to acess your Computer from it..goto options or config whatever it is and select sharing folder..then goto to ur Emulators file explorer and u will see that a storage card is there..open it and voilah..its ur desktop or what ever u selected..u can also simulate incoming SMS or calls
will it compatible for vista? since vista can't use many softwares
i installed battery status on this and it said the processwor was running at 50MMHz!!!!! whats up with that??
Is there anyway to overclock it to like 1Ghz? or at least 500Mhz?
The 0map function wasn't visible in battery status for the device (even though its there for my artemis - using the same install file).
I was reading and searching, when i saw this:
Some Windows Mobile smartphones have a safety lock that prevents the installation of "non-certified" (eg MIGSoft SmartTweaks) or editing the content of the record. But beware: this block has nothing to do with those that prevent the use of a device outside of a particular operator.
To perform the unlock, just change two registry keys using a registry editor (but read the specific topic on hacks and the care you must have):
1. Go to: hkey_local_machine \ security \ policies \ policies
2. Change the value of key "00001005" to "40" (without quotes);
3. Change the value of key "00001001" to "1" (without quotes);
In my first Motorola MotoQ CDMA Windows Mobile 5.0 could make this change without any major problems. However, after returning from service, which has changed the board and the ROM version of the device, this key Windows Mobile could not be changed. After some research, I found the procedure that allows the release of ROMs where the editing of this registry key can not be changed - by remembering that this is a hack I'm not responsible for any damage that might do to the system. Test at your own risk:
1. Download and install Device Security Manager Powertoy for Windows Mobile 5.0 from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...8c-d587-47e0-908b-09fee6ea517a&displaylang=en
This application shows the type of security policy in the existing Windows Mobile device connected to the PC. Warning:
this software crashes on Vista, but you can use it according to the desired result;
2. Connect the Q to the PC, wait for sync and run the program. You will see "two tier" in the "security policy" if the device has the protection of editing the registry;
3. Download the file secpolicies.cab http://sems.org/content/download/secpolicies.cab amending the security policy. This file is from Telus States
United States;
4. Install the file, moving it into the device and using the file manager of Windows Mobile, click it (run it);
5. Run the application again Device Security Manager Powertoy for Windows Mobile that should now show the value "tier one".
It is done.

Finally after several attempts i managed to set the full web experience also on IE mobile version.
After these small changes you can navigate in the same way as a traditional PC:full web experience on flash player(also Youtube\editor),macromedia active-x and i think applet java(?).
Go to on the folder:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent
and set the following keys:
(Default) ->Mozilla/4.0
Compatible ->compatible
Desc ->Default(Windows CE)
Platform ->Windows NT 6.1 [set to Windows NT 6.0 for OS Vista]
UA-Language ->JavaScript
Version ->MSIE 8.0 [set to MSIE 7.0b for InternetExplorer 7]
Template ->Same as Windows 7
See the key Templates for restore the original values if necessary.
No softreset required,you just check the proper operation over http://www.useragentstring.com/
-tips- For a better navigation in this mode is recommended temporarily disable htc sense (more ram).
Tested on my HTC T5353 Stock rom WM6.5 build 21889
Enjoy!
[HOW TO]Set Opera useragent like IE8 desktop on Win7(or IE7 based Win Vista)
Ok the same can be done on the Opera browser.
For now only tested on stock version 9.7 Build 35627
It goes this time to the key and change to:
HKLM\Software\Opera\Prefs\User Prefs
String value:
Custom User-Agent ->Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1)
Even here you can change the Platform/Version value for the switch Browser/OS system (see the first post).
-tips- Please backup the entire folder if you need to go back Simply use any registry editor for this.
For Opera 10 users,this string is written usually on opera.ini (ini file) localized in %InstallDir%\profile or simply you can access this information with the command without "http://"-> opera:config from the browser.
Feedback appreciated!
Excellent Information. Thanks for Sharing.
Hi All!
After a hard reset (WM 6.1 prof) I've imported a GPRS connection via a registry file.
It is working fine after the first manual connection, but does not connect automatic, right after a soft reset.
Once again:
Hard reset -> import .reg -> soft reset -> go to "Manage existing connections" -> it is connecting.
But I need a connection without user interaction. So I'd like to create a small console application (WM 6.1, CF2.0, C#, VS2008) which connects to "My connection" (for example):
Hard reset -> import .reg -> soft reset -> My liitle application -> it is connecting.
I've tried the followings:
1. make a webrequest - does'nt work
2. run iexplore.exe with an URL - does'nt work
3. registry hacking (diff before an after connecting) - doesn't work
(Anyway 1 and 2 works after I connect first and then disconnect.)
Sorry, if there's a trivial solution and about my english.
Best regards
KL
