JasJar and UMTS radio - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

I am wonder if the radio in the JasJar will be able to support the Cingular US version of UMTS of 1900. Currently the device only has a setting for 2100. Is this just an update for the radio or am i hosed for living in the US.

your hosed
umts 2100 the rest of the world.
perhaps future versions of the mobiles with support 1900/2100 umts

is 850 mhz band possible?

does anyone know, or has anyone tried, to enable the wallaby for use on 850 band? yes, it's because of cingular.
could this be accomplished with a different radio stack (even from another device)?
The band that a phone works on is limitted by its hardware, not its firmware. IF the phone you have doesn't currently work on 850mhz, then there will be no way to get it to work.

HSDPA and the Universal ????

AT&T/Cingular are in the process of rolling out their HSDPA network and a handful of cities are using it; NOW is the Universal capable of this....I asked a similar question about the UMTS 1900 MHz being activated so it could be used in the states; Granted I was given some very good replies but I am still curious. Over the past week I have been talking to some other engineers in my field and have found that a great number of things are possible with the Universal, it has the architecture to support this, SUPPOSEDLY ! Now lets look at UMTS as a whole; then HSDPA ! HSDPA is a software upgrade to existing UMTS software, that's all ! SO is it possible that we can have HSDPA on the Universal with an upgrade to the radio stack, I think YES !...and the bands should also be able to be activate, current UMTS 2100 MHz to 1900 MHz so it becomes dual band...the other is the GSM 850 band ! That apparently can be activated !...HOW is the big questions....Most of the HTC is limited by software; not hardware...its existing hardware has been built with scalability in mind...I just hope that some one can figure out the radio stack updates to facilitate this functionality !
The current model does not support HSDPA. However, I heard that the HSDPA version is due before year-end.

The Network used in Brazil are defined.
GSM 1800 + UMTS 850mhz
or
GSM 1800 + UMTS 2100mhz
When I stay in region with 2100mhz my Polaris works fine, but I go to another region with 850mhz, I need change to GSM only to use Phone.

[Q] Using my beloved HTC HD2 European Version in North America

Hi all,
I am desperately looking for a solution to the above problem.
Background: I moved about a year ago from Germany to Canada. My HD2 worked well with the sim card from Telefonica/O2 on the network over here. The phone itself is not locked but branded. Anyway when I tried to change to a Bell sim card it did not want to work. So I looked up the frequencies. My HD2 works on the following frequencies:
GSM1800
GSM1900
GSM850
GSM900
W-CDMA(UMTS)
The providers over here have the following frequencies:
Telus (including Koodo)
2G
CDMA 850/1900
EVDO 850/1900
3G (and fake 4G)
HSDPA 850/1900
HSPA+ 850/1900
UMTS 850/1900
WCDMA 850/1900
1x EV-DO CDMA2000
Bell (including Virgin Mobile, PC Mobility)
2G
CDMA 850/1900
EVDO 850/1900
3G (and fake 4G)
HSDPA 850/1900
HSPA+ 850/1900
UMTS 850/1900
WCDMA 850/1900
1x EV-DO CDMA2000
Rogers (including Fido, Petro-Canada Mobility)
2G
GSM 850/1900
GPRS 850/1900
EDGE 850/1900
3G (and fake 4G)
HSDPA 850/1900
HSPA+ 850/1900
UMTS 850/1900
WCDMA 850/1900
I thought at least that with the frequencies like CDMA and GMS matching I could use any provider that works with these frequencies. Obviously I was wrong there Anyway I want to use the phone. Can anyone out there help me and get me the information which provider would work with the phone? I would use anyone as long as I can just use my HD2 again.
Thanks so much for any kind of help.

EU HD2 will work on gsm in Canada but looks like will not match 3G wcdma used in Canada.
I used my EU HD2 in Canada on Rogers for a week & was fine on gsm.
Do check in phone settings to see bands are set to auto or gsm only, if set to wcdma only then will not connect to anything.
Not much you can do on 3G issue as hardware & not changeable, the australian Telstra HD2 & USA T-Mobile Hd2 is more compatible as hardware supports the 850,1900 & 2100 wcdma bands ....

I was with my German sim card also on Rogers. I just did not know if the phone would also be able to handle the local sim card. I will try Petro Canada or Fido. Rogers is a little expensive. Anyway thanks. Gives me hope

Hey all,
I just wanted to give a feedback on my recent experience. I yesterday checked at a Fido shop and I can confirm that it works. I now can use my HD2 again :good::victory::victory::victory::good:
I will get a sim card next weekend and then will see how to update my phone to something more current.
Thanks again for the tip Mister B
