installing tcmp4 on XDA IIi

Hello
I was trying to install tcmp4 on an XDA IIi, i downloaded tcmp4 onto the storage stick of XDA IIi, and clicked on the tcmp4, i get the message
'tcmp4' is not a valid Pocket PC application
i am sure i downloaded tcmp4 onto my XDA Exec in a similar way.
can you guys help me?
hello again
i figured out what to do, rather i remembered what i had done with my xda exec.
it is just the same procedure, get the cabinst file, and use it to install the cab file for the arm version
dear XDA_Guy
installing any application in Pocket PC can be either
1) exeutable file : which extention is .exe
these files (mostly and I say mostly) installable via the PC using ActiveSync program installed.
2) .cab file and these file shall be copied directly to the pocket PC and installed by clicking on them
Most program supplier (or programmers) produced the 2 vesrion of there programs i.e. in Cab and Exe format
the good thing with the cab version that you can keep in the SD card and everytime your hard-reset ( or format ) your XDA your can easly restore the programs from the SD (cab file ) without a computer.
IMPORTANT NOTE : about cab file ... most pocket pc or Windows CE deletes the cab file automatically after installing them.
to prevent this you need to install other cab installation utility / program.
personally I use the attached program. its exe file but just copy it and place it in your my documents or any other location . ( this is exe file but its a pocket pc exe file not PC )

thanks for the reply nasoor
you mean that the cab file version are meant to be installed on sd cards
and the exe version is meant to be installed on the device itself by clicking on the exe while the exe is on the pc?
how do i use the active sync program to install an .exe file? i copied the .exe file to my sd card and accessed it through activesync(explorer) however by only clicking on the file, it only gives me the properties
yes ,
the cab files should be copied either to you SD card or to the Pocket PC using the activesync explorer.
the EXE file should be run directly from the PC not the XDA. the steps are :
1- Put your XDA in the cardle ( holder) which is connected to the USB.
2- wait for the syncronization process to finish
3- go to the EXE file for TCPMP program in your Desktop Computer
4- Run the file and follow the instructions to be installed
5- after finishing you will see your XDA doing some progress and copying
6- You are done enjoy
regarding the cabinstall_en.exe file for cab installation , even this file is an exe file but as I told you before you can just copy it to your SD card and run in the Pocket PC not the Desktop because this is a Mobile EXE file.
I hope you are fine now ..
thanks for the reply nasoor
is there any way to know if a a file is a mobile exe file or is a pc exe file?
actually , without a programmed tool or external tool you can not
I mean , the only way - as I think - is by try executing the file , if the file fails to run with an error messaage says ' The file is not a valid 32 bit application ' then it means that this is for Pocket PC
otherwise , it will run , then it should be ment for the Desktop or Windows XP /ME application
thanks for the reply nasoor
pocket pc's are 32 bit applications?

installing .exe files on the hd ?

yup , i just bought the hd and already installed few programs but all of them were .cab files , but i was wondering how to instal the .exe files i found on the net or isn't this possible ? so yes can someone please help me out here , thx .
I'm pretty new to this, but I think in general, you have to connect you HD to your PC via USB, choose the activesync option (not direct drive), then run the exe on the PC, and it will install it to your HD via the cable.
If the pc doesn't recognise the exe (won't run it), try running it on the HD using file manager.
There are two types of exe files.
Those that run on the PC and those that run on the phone.
It usually states somewhere which one it is.
As Eclogue said, if it won't run on the PC, copy it to your
Storage drive and run it from there.

How to install Zipped EXE files?

hi guys..
seems like a n00b question..i know
but i downloaded some cool apps from handango which are made for Xperia..but i was unable to install them.
do i need to use Activesync for such files?...and if yes..i also tried to install activesync 4.5 but it says 'not for Vista'
any tips?
exe files can be
1. pda exe's which is not install files but the program itself
which you yourself have to copy to where ever you want it
and make a shortcut in programs yourself
2. windows exe's which use activesync on xp and Windows Mobile Device Center on vista
to copy the cabs to the pda and auto install them
in many cases those exe files are self-extracting zip files and one can just rename them zip and copy out the cab files one needs typically the arm one
thanks..i installed Windows Mobile Device center on my vista..connected X1 via USB and done!

how to instal exe files without a computer

is there a way to install a file that downloaded as a exe file to my tilt 2 without a computer?
if its not a ppc exe then you need to look for a cab file instead. a pc exe will not run on your phone.
You might be able to extract the .cab from the PC exe on your phone, using 7zip for Windows Mobile.

Exe to Cab?

Hi, I got an Adobe Flash Player Exe file, How can I convert it to a cab installation file for my Topaz?
Thanks.
I don't know about your file specifically, but in general .exe files for WM can be run from a synced PC or sometimes from within the device itself; no need to convert.
Steps Please!!!

Use this program. Works great for any .exe, .reg, etc.
If its an exe for your mobile platform, it can be installed directly from your device, just sync your phone with active sync or (WMDC) and copy the program to your device, or if it is a Windows ap, then you install it to your desktop which will install to your device after you sync with active sync or (WMDC)
You may be able to find a cab for it here.
