Hi,
I have a Qtek 9100, with ROM 1.6.7.1.
I've set up an IMAP account, and even installed a personal certificate. When I'm composing an e-mail, there's an option screen where two disabled checkboxes appears:
Encrypt Message
Sign Message
There's no way to enable those, and there's no place to find some reference to it. I really need to read and send S/MIME encrypted messages. I thought that AKU2 will solve this, I haven't yet got a version with AKU2, but I was wondering if someone knows how to enable it.
Searching thru the registry, there's even a handler registered for smime (exsmime.dll) and the DLL is in \windows.
At first I thought that this setting was only available to local outlook e-mail, but it doesn't work either.
Does someone know if there's a way to enable this, or if this will only work with Exchange server?
I'm kind of exhausted about this, we've implemented e-mail encryption via S/MIME some time ago, and the device is unusable for me.
Any help will be really appreciated.
Thanks.

Somehow I can't get more than the message-headers synched to my Universal. The drop-down list with "Receive full copy of e-Mails" is marked of course.
I also tried "Recieve Header only + the first x Kilobytes". Again, only the headers appear on the Device.
Anyone else out there with the same problem?
(Could be an IMAP problem, that has nothing to do with GMX. ....)
Appreciate your comments/ideas
Sounds similar to my problem, check out my thread here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=28290&highlight= I also use an imap account. My problem seems to be with html email only, plain text displays ok.
thanks efjay, no that's not the problem. It's not just HTML that i canKt see. It's all message bodies. That used to work well with my Blue Angel and i feel like I'm capable enough to get the settings right in WM5 (which relly isn't so different).
In the meantime i tried pop3 as well, same problem.
Did anybody get this workig?
PS: I'm in germany and use a MDA Pro.
OK I found out what the problem was: Somehow, with installing mNotes Synchronization (which dosn't work in WM5 yet) i must have screwed up the Mail Database on the device.
A hard reset resolved the problem completeley.
Boy, that took time ....

Have you tried smsEncrypt?

I've searched the forum for a couple of hours without success so please forgive me if this question has been asked/answered....
My work email server uses a security certificate that has expired and they don't want to renew... I've setup my WM phones without issues (allows me to say continue anyway OR doesn't ask at all); however, the G1 fails to continue the email account setup and I receive the following error message;
"Setup could not finish. Cannot safely connect to server. (Not trusted server certificate)"...
Is there anyway to bypass this check so that I can complete the email account setup and poll for my work emails?
I had the same issue with an email provider that I use. I could never get it to work. But, I downloaded and used K9, and it worked.
Of course I had to do some searching to find out what incoming and outgoing settings other users of my email had used with other phones (Blackberry, WM, Palm, etc.). I played around with different settings and finally got it to working.
Then I just changed the notification settings and other settings to fit how I wanted it to sync and notify me and its working great now.
Try K9 and do some searching. Maybe try what settings have been used on phones in the past. You would be surprised at what actually works once its implemented the right way.
Hope this helps!
K9-it works
I use K9 to check my ako because that is the only program that lets me check it anyways, valid certificate or not.
Hi
I am trying to set up an account using Emoze.
I have downloaded the WinMo Client and installed no issue on my phone. However, when I try to set up an account I get the following message "Currently server is not available. Please try again later". This has been an issue since Xmas day.
I have deleted the app and reinstalled a number of times but always with the same result.
Has anyone else been able to set up an account?
Would someone be willing to check for me please?
I have attached the cab file below. You will not need to actually set anything up, if you click add account and then get to the next page without the error message, you've got further than me and I'll know that there is something wrong with my device!
I am using ROM 1.61.
Would really appreciate any help!
On a seperate note. I'm trying to use this to access my OWA account as ActiveSync has been disabled by my company. I have also tried Seven but have not been successful setting up an account.
Does anyone know of any other service that allows you to access emails via OWA when AciveSync has been disabled. I found Chronobis but it only supports one way i.e. you cant delete emails from your phone and have them delete in your exchange server. Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
I've been able to use EMOZE on my HD2 to access the company's OWA since i've got it. I've actually installed in few times since i kept on changing my ROM version till i found one i was fully happy with.
Let me know what it is your doing exactly and i'll try to help you out.
Still waiting for your response on what to do with emoze
Just sent you another reply via your email, and have attached a snapshot of both my OWA and my POP3 account configured on my HD2.

Thank you all in advance,

All,
I'm sure, that this question is easy to answer for most of you:
Does the Tattoo supports an Exchange account? I have read that it is not supported (only over third party apps)
Please help me out on that!
Thanks a lot in advance,
Asterix
A friend told me that it does support MS Exchange.
He is using it.
But he sad that he just can't download attachments so he has to send those emails to his gmail account and then to download them.
The Mail app allows you to add an MS Exchance account. But it has NEVER worked for my email account. It might work for yours... who knows... But the Tattoo does support Exchange server.
It does work, but there is an issue.
I have access to my work email (via Exchange Server and the Mail app) and it was very easy to set-up. It works really well, the app is quite nice. It will do things like listing your emails by conversation.
However, I can only read emails. I can't send emails.
This is a bug in Android. Not sure whether it is being fixed in 2.1. I do think you can get it to work though if you have help from your IT team. I have read that they can change some of the security permissions on the Exchange server (ie exclude you from certain protocols). I haven't tried it though.

works great
Hi Guys, I was having the same problem with not being able to send mails and download attachments, even the mails which were longer, wouldn't load fully.
I requested the company's IT team to take a look at it and they changed some settings as Admins on the exchange server to get it working (I believe Android does not provide remote-wipe/ pin-password lock feature to be enforced, they had to bypass the check for me)
Hope it helps.
I had the problem of emails not sending when I set my son's Tattoo up.
I then accessed remote.xxx.com (where xxx is my domain name) and got an error, I tried again and it said the certificate was invalid, once I accepted it it let me in. I tried to access the Internal web site and got the cert error again. I accepted the cert again and just got a blank page.
I exited and have since been able to send emails without a problem.
I believe it's a certificate problem but mine has somehow resolved itself.

Interesting.
Sadly, tried it and didn't seem to work for me. It just kept defaulting to our corporate webmail server. I had heard it was a certificate problem too, but also the remote wipe etc needed in the security settings on the server.
Great that you've got it working though.

no problem
Hi!
Thanks for all the answers. I got my Tattoo now, setting up the exchange account was no problem at all, everything working fine. Some parts are a little bit not as fine as I'm used from my WM phones in the past. (times to set up when it should get the mails, which folder should get synchronized,..)
Thanks,
Stefan
I spoke to soon.
My son's phone keeps on saying it can't send - so I received 10 copies of the same email until I deleted it from the outbox.
There is a definite problem - has anyone found a solution?
