Is there anyway to toggle the backlight when a certain program is open (for example gpsdash) so the backlight does not time out?

Is there an application out there that allows user to adjust backlight setting through a (up/down) button ??
All - I'm not sure if my 8125 was like this before but the dpad does not auto repeat. I can't just hold the button down to continuosly move the cursor left. Same thing with the keyboard. Is this normal?
Registry setting not available in the input control panel
It appears that some program had set my registry repeat setting control_panel->kbd to 0. The control panel application "Input" does not have an option for setting this for SIP and my system tab does not have a keyboard application for setting this feature.
I'm not using the auto backlight option anymore, so I disabled it and enabled the backlight slider with a registry trick:
HKLM:\Software\Power\EnableAutoHideBacklightSlider
(change Dword to 0)
All I want now is to assign a button to toggle the screen manually to a brighter level. In another forum I found an app:

Can somebody confirm it works with the Touch HD?
I didn't enable the slider, but I set the LSK to call Power.exe, which will bring up the Power page so that I can adjust backlight, turn on/off auto backlight easily.

Click to collapse
I solved this by installing aebutton v2.6.6
Thanks for your advise anyway.
Hi,
Is there an app to set my backlight on my keypad on and off by timer, because in the day i cant see the letters on the keypad because of the light
thanks
No timer, but there is a program where you can do it manually. Search for Dark Keys in marketplace. Assign it to a shortcut and you're good to go.
Not for nothing but dark keys suck. It's constantly going on and off at random times. Also sometimes it gets stuck in the on/off position and will not let the backlight be turned off...
just my $0.02...
I have the exact opposite problem. At nite i cant see the keys and the backlight only stays on for a split second, i have asked for a always on function from the developer of the app. Hopefully he or she can add this to the function of the app without opening it each time i slide open the keypad.
Power Manager has an option to keep keys lit when the screen is up I beileve.
Edit: double post... apologies
If have a general problem ... I do like to keep the backlight on for an infinite time (Navigation application).
When I go to "Setting" -> "System" ... -> "Battery and Backlight" -> "Backlight" - "On External Power" or "On External Power" disable everything and "Turn off Device" the device switch off the screen independently of these settings after 60 seconds.
1) How I can keep the backlight and device running "for ever" without automatically switching off?
2) In case of Dim, which button can be used to re-activate the device and keeping the current application – not switch to another application like HTC Sense…
Help please – where I can change the Backlight parameters successfully – patch, registry-hack etc appreciated – thanks.
Problem solved:
The registry key HKCU\ControlPanel\Power\Display 60 was set by an legacy application.
Remove registry key Display solves the problem.
