Is there an application out there that allows user to adjust backlight setting through a (up/down) button ??

Is there anyway to toggle the backlight when a certain program is open (for example gpsdash) so the backlight does not time out?

All - I'm not sure if my 8125 was like this before but the dpad does not auto repeat. I can't just hold the button down to continuosly move the cursor left. Same thing with the keyboard. Is this normal?
Registry setting not available in the input control panel
It appears that some program had set my registry repeat setting control_panel->kbd to 0. The control panel application "Input" does not have an option for setting this for SIP and my system tab does not have a keyboard application for setting this feature.
On my Touch I had a short cut button to dim the backlight in about 5 different stages. Is there any equivalent button or program I can use to make it easier to adjust the backlight as it remains too bright when driving my car in the night. Or even adding a button to TT7 to adjust the backlight, this would be jsut as good a solution for me.
Going to settings and manually adjusting means that I spend too much time fiddling with technology.
you can try WKtask manager! it allows you to adjust sound and brightness by tapping in the top right corner of the today screen! some changes to setting required( easy enough tho)
its freeware and can be found on the forum
Many thanks. Just dowloaded it and works fine.
I'm not using the auto backlight option anymore, so I disabled it and enabled the backlight slider with a registry trick:
HKLM:\Software\Power\EnableAutoHideBacklightSlider
(change Dword to 0)
All I want now is to assign a button to toggle the screen manually to a brighter level. In another forum I found an app:

Can somebody confirm it works with the Touch HD?
I didn't enable the slider, but I set the LSK to call Power.exe, which will bring up the Power page so that I can adjust backlight, turn on/off auto backlight easily.
