Hi Everyone,
Is there a way to use Messenger without having automaticaly a Hotmail account in Messaging?
As soon as I fill in my login details and login a Hotmail account is created and I can only get rif off it with the "change user" option but that makes messenger unusable...
use agile messenger
Thanks but I'd prefer to stick with the builtin app.
Any other thoughts?
Not sure what you mean exactly.
But I made a shortcut to messenger.exe
Now I dont have to start msn and hotmail.
I also turn o the automatic download of hotmail

Now that's funny. I've done that with the previous rom I was using and as soon I had my login details entered I had the Hotmail account automaticaly created in Messaging despite not being registered at Hotmail.
Now I've done a rom upgrade, now starting instmgr.exe instead of Pocket MSN solves the problem.
Thanks for that!
yes it is possible, i've been searching for that myself for some time, got a solution on howardforums.com:
to remove the hotmail from the messaging app go into settings / memory and stop msn and messaging. (this'll stop you having to reset)
load up a reg editor and goto HKLM/software/microsoft/inbox/svc then rename the "hotmail" key to "-hotmail" exit resco and press the power button to standby your device and save the reg changes. now if you go into messages the hotmail will be gone.

I made the terrible mistake of pressing the mail icon on the MSN menu of my new JAMin- it has now created a new account under messaging called Hotmail. I dont have and never will have a hotmail account, but I cant for the life of me find how to delete the account permanently. Also I dont sync my Outlook e-mail account since I use Thunderbird on the PC. Does anyone know how to delete the Outlook e-mail account in WM 5?
go to programs and select msn,
then under options select new user. this will log you out and should remove the hotmail folder.
hope it works for you
thanks!
that worked! still got outlook e-mail mithering me but ne'er mind
i am pretty sure the outlook one cannot be erased. glad it worked for you. i did the same thing last sunday and thought i was going to have to hard reset the phone to get rid of the hotmail folder!
Mr Gates is a tenacious f****er! Thanks for your help.
I have HTC TyTN and when I click Messaging, I get to see all the accounts I have configured on my phone. I was having a problem connecting at a time and I created gmail account twice so I would like to delete one off... I have searched everywhere on my phone for the solution but I am not all that perfect so would appreciate if someone would be of help... and tell me how i can delete an account off from the outlook
thanks
go to options in messaging, tap and hold the account you want to delete and you will see a context menu pop up and you will be able to delete it.

This doesn't work for a WindowsLive account. How would I delete a Windows Live email account from my PPC?
THanks,
-Humbert
Yup it doesn't. You need to not use Windows live messenger.
Whenever you sign-in to WLM, it creates the mailbox automatically. So if you're not sync'ing your mails, there's no way to remove it.

Go to
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\Windows Live
in the registry and change the value of
"UserCannotCreate"
from "1" to "0".
The delete option should no longer be grayed out.

I have a similar problem as the first poster. I created the same gmail account more then once, but since I had to load from a backup after my tytn froze it is only showing the one account. My programs such as pocketbreeze is showing both gmail accounts, but messaging is only showing 1, so the question is how do I delete one of the duplicate accounts if only one is showing in messaging, or do I have to hard reset my phone?
I have the same problem. MSN Messenger is pre-instaled and when I first logged in, the device automaticly created a new folder called Hotmail.
How do I go to: "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\Windows Live"?

There are a lot of registry editors for PocketPC out there, if you don't have one try one of these:
PHM Registry Editor (free)
Total Commander (free)
Resco Registry
I tried to do this to delete the outlook account, but it did not work. i ended up deleting the active sync folder from the registry - which worked - but then my phone stopped vibrating when getting text and email messages.
i loaded the new ROM and the active sync folder is back (and hotmail too), but i still don't vibrate on incoming messages. any thoughts?
I'm wondering if it's possible to remove outlook from the email tab of TF3D.
I never use it, I use GMail for my email, so it just takes up space, and irritates me that it doesn't remember gmail as default after soft reset.
Any ideas?
Do you mean that you've set it up, and now want to remove it...? if that's the case, you can remove it when connected to your PC using the WM Device Centre...
Honestly can't remember where, but it's there....
i think he means the fact that there are 2 emails to chose from in the tf3d email tab. top one is the outlook one and the 2nd is the gmail one
he is not using the outlook..
anyway i have the exact same issue..restarting tf3d or phone resets to the default (outlook). so you have to manually select gmail afterwards
it takes one click but it can be annoying when you'r in a hurry
You can solve it by deselecting to synchronize your email with outlook in activesync.
After you have done that just remove the oulook email account and it will not come back anymore.

I had the same issue. Deselecting the syncronization removed the icon from the eMail page, all other settings I left unchanged.
Well, my problem is exactly the opposite. My outlook icon disappeared and I found no way to put it back there, even removing and recreating the outlook account...
@[email protected]
weird but it worked...
Cheers guys, worked like a charm.
I still dont see how i can delete it on the X1..i dont even have outlook intalled on my PC.
So i cant deselect synchronizing with outlook because i dont even have it..so how do i get rid of it?
does anyone know how to do this? i want to reset this to something else and i can't seem to figure out how to do this and it's really annoying me. i can delete my gmail inbox perfectly fine (hold down stylus and select delete) but for some reason it won't let me do that to my outlook or my hotmail.
>.> don't tell me i have to do a hard reset just to erase those...
To delete your hotmail inbox, you have to remove your Windows Live ID from messenger. (I think it's called switch Live ID)
You can't delete the default outlook inbox, it for when you synch with outlook (even if you don't have it)
Outlook mailbox is deleted (changed) through activesync I believe.
I would like to delete this also, I use SPB Mobile Shell and when I hit the e-mail icson it sends me to the outlook tab which I never use.
where exactly in activesync it that option to remove outlook? i cant find it

I would like to know that as well! The outlook e-mail part always annoys me.
There is a way to remove the unused "outlook" account from the messages menu, but that can introduce some bugs (notifications gone etc), but I think it worked with some people. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=368812
The Hotmail account can be deleted as described above. Delete your windows live account and set it up again without syncing your emails.
my gf's neotouch has the last official rom 3.00c with windows mobile 6.5
she wants to read email, but everytime she sign in hotmail the e-mail app open internet explorer to let her sign in...
So it is not a real email client...
how can she have a real email client on her phone?
thanks
i noticed this too.
so there is no way?!
Try this:
http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/911354-exchange-activesync-hotmail-settings-apparently-working/
Here you can set your hotmail as a exange server. You have more advanced settigs than POP and IMAP, better support for settings download intervals and best of all:
Push email service free! (something like blackberry etc. it does drain your battery quickly so don't let it check for mail all day/night)
You have to make these settings in the active sync menu on the neotouch. If this all doesn't work i suggest she takes a gmail account ( I never had any problems an you can import your hotmail into gmail, but try the above site first)
Good Luck!
hotmail
actually I have the possibility of the motmail client on mobile without using the browser.
Did you already use a MS account (hotmail, live, etc..) on the phone? for example you use an account for the wm marketplace?
I had that result when I tried putting 2 msn clients.

1. That's a different problem......
2. The method I descriped doesn't use the mobile browser. It also uses the build in, native, wm mailing program
thanks a lot but I didn't understand well hot to set up the mail...
I have to go to active sync icon on wm
set the field like in the link you've posted and then?
How I can set that I want to check the email manually? and not automatically?
because I don't need push notification all time, because my gf doesn't have a flat connection to the web, she just left her phone on wifi connection when she is at home
