Qtek around speakers - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hello,
I tried searching the forum and couldn't get a result for my problem, that's why I'm posting here.
My Qtek causes the speakers PC speakers in the office and at home to produce that typical sound distortion. I don't know the correct term in english, but you know what I'm talking about - when the mobile phone rings and there are speakers turned on around it the speakers produce that annoying sound.
Well, mine doesn't do it only when it's ringing. It does it all the time (every 10-15 seconds). As you might guess this is really annoying to me and my colleagues at work. I tested it and it's difinately the phone causing it, since I have all other wireless options turned off. I've never experienced this issue with my previous phones and noone at the office has the same problem. I'm really baffled. I guess it does that every time it pings the mobile network, but since I'm not a techie I don't really know how to fix this.
Has anyone experienced that with the Qtek, or any other phone for that matter? How do I fix it? Right now I have to turn off my phone while at work...
Regards,

are you connected to gprs by any chance? even if you are it shouldn't make thAt sound unless theres data transfer. if your not connected to gprs, not recieving/making a call or message then i'd say your phones refresh rate of the cell signal is too fast. how to change that, i don't know but could have to do with your sim card.
also u could simply turn your speakers off.
i just thought of this but do you have "Broadcast Channels" on?

Not just me then i wondered what was going on!!
i drive a wagon with cb radio installed and what seems to be every minute or so i get the same noise.it gets worse when i connect to gprs so bad i have to turn cb off.
never had this problem with c500.
any ideas anyone?

GPRS is off. "Broadcast Channels" is disabled. Unfortunately turning off the speakers is not an options since they're essential to my work.
Hmm, do you think it could be the SIM card and a simple change of mobile service provider might fix that?
Regards,

again, i'm not a pro on this topic, but if you could get a hold of another sim card from a friend and plug it into your device and see if it stops doing that then your sim card is the problem. so try a couple cards out, one from your provider and one from another provider and see what happens.

My Qtek 9100 does this sound every 10 minutes or so. But I've experiensed that the sound disappears when I move the phone into a better location. I've found a couple of places in my room where this sound doesn't appear. Best way to find such place is to make a phone cal and then while the phone is calling just move it around and see where that annoying sound disappears.
Hope this helps you too. I can imagine that sound driving you mad, as it can be heard so often... For me 4-5 times in an hour was too much.

Phone - The operation failed.

Quite often these days I am getting the issue mentioned above. Even soft resets do not seem to help. Until I reset a few more times.
What might be the cause of this? Thanks.
Hope someone might be able to assist on this. Thanks.
I'm also getting this message nearly every time I try to make a call. The phone then looks like it resets the connection with the cell tower and it successfully completes the call on the second try. Then the next time I try to call someone else it fails again. I came to this forum to see if anyone else has experienced the same problem.
Hey joej, I found out what might be causing the problem: make sure that your ActiveSync is closed before you try making a call. That fixed the problem for me.
Also, here's a quote from an email from one of my coworkers:
"Your Tytn was probably trying to dial a data connection at the same time that you were trying to dial voice and so it has to cancel the data request before you can dial out. There is a registry tweak you can do to the Tytn to keep the data connection always active when the phone is not in use and this may make it less frequent that you would have a problem
Activesync is supposed to stop when your data connection is unavailable. If you are making or receiving a call on the TyTN (or any GSM phone) your data connection will not be available and therefore not run. Do you have a lot of 3rd party apps running at startup as well? I have rarely had a problem with my Tytn and never during a call unless my battery dies on my BT headset mid call and then the device may get confused."
Hope this helps!

thanks for the update, i however am experiencing this issue once in a while and it is not with the activesync running nor a data connection going on. ugh..... guess mine is odd
Me too
Thank so much for the post count me in there too. I am southern central PA and just last week this started happening to me too. I have an 8525.
I have no acrive data connection nor any apps running that force a data connection. Every morning I have been resetting the phone 5-6 times before the freezing stops and it works. So annoying.
I am suspecting it is a network issue with cingular and them upgrading to 3g in my area. I suspect it as I had to travel north this week and discovered 3g coverage in Harrisburg so I am betting that is it.
I feel your pain and I have no fool proof thing to do on the phone to fix it. But man the phone on the 3g is fantastic.

yup, everything rocks in it except the phone functionality really needs to be improved to be more usable.
do you know how i can use the phonepad to do t9 for replying SMS ? right now i am finding it hard to do so as i need to use the normal input methods which is not as easy as a normal cellphone
omg I'm from Singapore using Starhub think I'm having the same problem too. Dopod 838 pro.
A soft reset works for me, but very frustrating coz you dunno whether you are missing calls - the screen shows mobile is up with signal and all but people can't call in.
Just started happening to me past few days but then again I just took over the phone from a friend who bought it 3 months ago (latest batch)
So frustrating. ... seems related to the activesync.. but then again still happens when activesync's not involved.

Same here anytime Cingy plays with towers, have you ever got a message stating the call can not be completed at this time? Been getting that one lately as well.
I think that it could be an issue with the phone heightened by the nature of the cell network.
I am wondering if the phone has issues handing off between cell towers as I have the band tab active and there are freq choices so I wonder if the phone even on gsm has some issues dealing with hand offs.
I locked it on gsm and still had issues with the phone. I locked it on 850 and still had phone issues. Put it in auto for the freq and still had issues.
On the U network on Cingular since its the only one the phone is excellent. Data and voice work great. So it will get better in the US for us on Cingular. But man its going to be really annoying during the roll out.
I'm on T-Mobile and I'm seeing this problem as well. (It didn't go away after closing ActiveSync like I said it did earlier.) The weird thing is that this wasn't a problem until about a week or two ago; now all of the sudden it's happening constantly.
Also, I just installed the newest HTC ROM (1.35.255.2) yesterday and now my phone has started to drop calls. I've never had a problem with dropped calls in the 2.5 years I've lived in this apartment.
Ain't technology grand?
Well things have not improved for me. Today after 8 resets the phone finally settled down and did not freeze and was able to get on the network. It has been terrible for me the last 2 weeks...
I removed the eten dialer skin I was using. I wanted to make sure it was not due to replacing the Cingular phone skin.
We shall see tomorrow if the phone is able to work without multiple resets..
If not it is off to a hard reset and re-load to see if that improves it any...
I have taken the plunge and did a hard reset plus reinstall of everything. I had the same apps installed again and the problem seems to be gone now. *touch wood* hopefully this doesn't come again... a restore takes too long. I have also installed Sprite and did a full backup of the phone including the memory card just to be safe.
This problem started for me this morning. (NYC/NJ Area - USA). I did a hard reset (actually, two) this morning, and it didn't fix it, even when the phone first finished the initial load (in a virgin state). Then, around 11:00am, it began to work again. Now, it's about 6:30pm, and I need the phone to call home to tell them I'm gonna be late, and it's out again. Seems like it's something not to do with the phone, but with the network (I hope). It won't connect in GSM, UMTS, or AUTO modes, FWIW.
Oh well, sure hope it doesn't takle two weeks to "go away".
returned
Well I returned mine. Did the warrenty exchange. So far so good. No freezing and the phone seems to hold onto the network ok now.
I truly believe mine was defective. As the phone would show searching and not connect to the network.
I think that not being able to make a data connection is a network issue as it clears up in a few days.

also in the same area, experiencing similar problems within certain specific locations. Noteably these are locations that I get SPOTTY UMTS service, so I assume a tower upgrade is in progress or something that is causing this. Where I have full umts service, the problem does not occur.
at times i have signal, but calls don't come through (rings to calling party, but goes to voicemail before my device rings).
This is something related to 3G because when the sim is put in a blackberry 8700c, everything works A-OK.
Glad to know i am not alone in this
I have similar problems. Especially in the university of Hannover. There is UMTS. Since a few days Data Connections via Active Sync don't work.
Before I had problems with calls. For example freezing during call.
And of course in the university and on other places I have often to do calls twice.
I called O2 for that problem. They are upgrading the cell around the university to HSDPA.
Hi to all !
I had the same problems, then i removed the microSD card and the problem was gone. Now i am testing the phone without miroSD card. I forgot to say that i had the problems with boot too(No GSM) and now it boot perfectly.
Best regards
O2 XDA Trion (dopod rom)
I finally had to return the phone under warrenty. It degraded to no gsm all the time fresh from a hard reset with no mem card. The new device has been flawless radio wise for a week now.
Problems with XDA Trion SOLVED !!!
Hi again !
The microSD card was NOT the problem ! I tested the phone without SD card but that was not the problem. Then i go to my provider and change the SIM card with new one (the old one was very old so i buy new one) and wauuu it works. The XDA TRION needs the sim card with UMTS suport then it will work fine. So far NO freezing at all. I will let you know in a few days if something strange will hapen.
Best regards
Hi, to all with the problem “The operation failed” when trying to make a call:
Try to switch off bluetooth (specially if you are in UMTS (CMDA) network) and then try to make a phonecall again.
For me this helped to solve it.
First I also thought that it’s only a Provider network problem (I have 2 different providers, with one it works, with the other I have the “operation failed” problems).
So it is 100% a phone software problem. (Shame to HTC)
Give feedback if it helped you too.

No phonecall when Bluetooth + network

I found out some strange bug:
When my TYTN is connected to the network (UMTS) and bluetooth is switched on too I can not make telephone calls. TYTN starts dialing but disconnects after 5 sec. (No errormessage, but plays a sound 3 times (something like: ding…ding…ding).
Incoming calls do not get trough too (Only busy tone).
When I switch off Bluetooth or network connection everything works fine again.
I searched this forum up and down, but found no answer.
Am I the only one or did somebody notice this bug too?
i found that i cannot use my phone at all if i restart my phone with BT and wifi on somtimes, removing the bt and wifi seems to fix it for me. strange eh?
i often get phone failed.
Its annoying. I am always afraid that I forget to switch off the Networkconnection after I have checked emails or was surfing in the internet.
Its the basic purpos of a phone to be reachable.
Am I the only one with this problem? Is something wrong with my phone?
Sorry to poll this.
But nobody else has noticed this?
Hey folks,
Am I the only one with this bug ?
Really need help for this problem
I forgot to post that my problem has gone.
It definitly was a network problem caused by my networkprovider "One Austria" (now Orange).
After a long call with the technical support they changed some of their serversettings
and wow this problem is gone.
Never happened again (since 6 month)
Hope this helps someone

No Service On Unlocked Nike/HTC Touch Dual?

Hi, I have unlocked my Nike and have put in a new 3G O2 SIM card. But it says No Service and has no signal at all... The card has been activated so it's not that, and I can get signal on the O2 SIM when I put it in a different phone in the same location...
Please help!
PS. Sorry if this is in the wrong section and should be in the Nike one.
this is an acceptable section for this post.
try running the network wizard for your phone.
By that, do you mean going to Settings - Phone - Network - Find Network?
Because if so, I've tried it and it just says "Current Network - Searching..." for ages and ages then eventually goes to No Service IIRC. I'm doing it again now...
Also, when I do find it (when I've turned 3G on in the Comm Manager) it goes to 3G O2-UK (which is what I want) but then has no signal, then it goes to just O2-UK and no signal.
network wizard is an actual application that will set the correct specifications for you. Try searching the forums for it.
I have searched for it, I downloaded it, I ran it and restarted my HTC Touch Dual like it said... And I get "No Service"...
Please help?
Now it says "Denied, Searching..." sometimes, then says "No Service". Or occasionally it says "O2-UK" but has no signal and when I try and ring it off my house phone it goes straight to voicemail.
I think I may have got it to work. I think the Network Wizard may have sorted it out, just took a while to work.
Unfortunately though, the signal is still weak. Any way I can improve my signal?
Now today I managed to get the signal to FOUR bars, but that was for only about a minute. Now, I am finding it hard to even find service, especially when I turn my phone on.
I've also noticed that if I push the Network to GSM it goes to "No Service" for quite a while!
Please help people, how can I get this to work wherever I go? It seems that sometimes it only works when it's plugged into the laptop via USB cable... I'm a noob.
well try flashing a new radio and see if that fixes it
You'll have to walk me through it man, I'm a complete noob. I don't even know what that means tbh.
With a load of help from ScouseMartin I've managed to get it working but with extremely bad signal/reception. I lose all service most of the time when I'm on the move but after being in the same place for a while the signal manages to get back to about 2 bars... Sometimes is goes full or 4 bars but still calls drop after about a minute or so. About half of the time people can only get through to me, the rest it goes straight to voicemail. Texting is generally okay although sometimes I do receive texts quite a while after they were sent...
Scouse Martin believes that it must be the antenna inside the phone because when I try an Orange SIM in the same phone I get the same situation.
So, I have purchased a T5 screwdriver but now I need a Philips #0, I cannot find any in any shop so can anyone point me towards one (in the UK please) for a couple of quid?
Thanks in advance.
Not the answer. Anyone else have any suggestions?
Well, seems I've stumped. I am selling this phone for £120 ONO with TomTom 6 on the 1GB MicroSD card. I put the teal Manilla2D UI on it.
Anyone interested in it, to fix or for spare parts can find it here: http://manchester.gumtree.com/manchester/39/28860039.html
I sold if, it anyone cares, for £91.02.

HD2 no signal, shows exclamation

Hi everyone, my HD2 just stopped working with no signal at all.and shows a exclamation all the time, sim cards are no problem. i've updated the phone with official sw, still have this problem at the beginning.
has the phone been blacklisted?
is the phone turned on in wireless mode in settings? ( ya never no)
is it still under warranty?
My HD2 has done the exact same thing, just shows an !
it doesnt even try to find a signal.
phone was a tmobile UK version, which was unlocked to use any network.
the problem has literly just happened today.
have tried different offical roms, and different sim cards.

Just phoned my provider in regards to my phone, quoted the emei and have been told the phone is blacklisted.
they are sending a request to have it unbarred. will post the outcome.
I have had this happen alot with Vodaphone UK. This is a brand new number so doubt it has been black listed.
I can get this working my turning the phone to airplane mode then back to phone mode, this most of the time makes the phone look for a signal.
Usually happens to me when there is no signal like in a tunnel, the phone does not seem to try looking for the network until you force it to.
This is possibly a fault with the timeout of the HTC HD2. Could be once it tries to connect when out of signal the device gives up after a number of attemtps.
Does anyone know?t

I was searching before posting for just this problem.
It is really irritating me. The phone can jump from deciding there is no signal to sometimes even going to full-bar "H"!
I hav currently resorted to turning off 3G as at least that way I am eliminating the idiocy of it prefering 0/1 bar of "H" vs near full non-3G reception for calls.
Even so at times it will just sit there for ages having dropped a signal with the exclamation showing and then jump back to life [in the same place] with good reception.
I am also on Voda UK
Mine has done that twice, in 4 months. 1 time phone was turned off inside connections, no idea how? 2nd time I just shut off, & back on, signal was back, hasn't happened in months now?
so does anyone have a solution to this problem?
I've checked with my service provider and my phone is not blacklisted...
My SIM card seems fine and everything else seems fine, except it keeps giving me the exclamation mark.. most of the time i notice it's when i get out of the lift (but that could be because that's when i usually check my phone before I put it on my desk).
There are many occasions (probably 5+ times/day) where I turn my phone on (ie, off standby) after it's been sitting on my desk for an hour or so to check calls, etc and there is that dreaded exclamation mark.
I know the area around my desk does have a signal because the guy next to me on the same network has a strong 3G and 2G signal.
Sometimes going to Comms to turn airplane mode on and off to force it to look for a signal works, but sometimes it doesnt.
I've tried soft-resetting, hard-resetting, using different radios, different ROMs, etc and still no good.
Funny thing is, it's only been happening over the past 2-3 weeks.. and I'm not sure what triggered it.
It's really starting to frustrate the crap outta me and friends have been asking why they can't get through...
Any help would be appreciated.. . I'm trying to avoid sending it to the HTC service centre if I can because they're slooooow and the stories I've read about my local centre are pretty bad (when I had my HTC diamond).
Solved:upgrade your rom everything gonna b in place
Upgrade to what?
I am having the same problem, for a hile now. Been fiddling with phone settings parameters, trying to see the effect. One particular combination so far seems to work. Try this: Comm manager --> Phone --> Tap Change Phone settings --> Menu --> Advanced network --> GPRS --> select CHAP authentication --> then CSD Line Type --> select Data rate 9600(v.110). Then OK, Back, and Done with the Comm manager. Observe if the network pickup performance (switching from non-existent H or 3G to E or G) works better for you after that. It does better for me, so far.
I'm having the same problem - NO SIGNAL
Any solution?
i recently discovered that for my problem, it was to do with the earphones. Not sure why, but it only seems to happen to me not long after i plug or unplug the earphones.
I usually have my HD2 on my desk with the music going while I work, but every hour or so, I unplug the earphones and take my phone by itself out with me for a cigarette.. then I come back and plug the earphones back in.
Often when I'm about to head downstairs, I turn on the screen while the music is still going and i see the "!"... as soon as I unplug the earphones, the bars indicating reception comes back straightaway!
Not sure if it's a coincidence or whether it really does have something to do with the earphone/earphone jack.
Since I upgraded to the Vodafone rom on the htc website I have not had this problem

I have just bitten the bullet and accepted the phone is crap at swithing between 2G and 3G signal so turn off 3G in a couple of locations when I know I get this problem [home - I can use WIFI] and my office.
HTC would not be drawn at all on un updated Radio and this problem being "fixed" in USA ROMs
Fixed
the very easy fix is to do this :
settings _ personal _ phone _ network then make network selection to manual ,, then choose ur provider,,, then u will have signal,, after that u can turn it back to automatic
100% working
Thanks a "fix" not a solution.
Rather silly to have to jump through hoops to make a mobile phone recognise available reception
Have the same problem
I have the same problem now, any solution for that?

[Q] Reception/call & bluetooth dropping

I just ranted on another thread about GPS, so I'll leave that alone. However, I'm starting to get a serious attitude problem. I am now on my 3rd Vibrant and 3rd SIM card. There are so many good things about it, but it's basic functionality as a PHONE is killing me. The signal is horrible. Inside I almost never have any bars. It seems that my bluetooth (Jabra JX10) arbitrarily disconnects both itself and drops the call 2-3 times a day, sometimes more with heavy usage. I could go on, but to cut to the chase, a few questions:
-Is anyone else having or had any of these issues, and are there any settings that can be changed? I thought there may have been a connection to a little message I get from time to time that says "auto update of date and time", which seemed that the call & bluetooth dropped when it showed up, but I disabled that and it still does it
-Is it possible that I need a different/newer version of a bluetooth headset? I realize the Vibrant has something different re: bluetooth (3.0?) than the G1 & MT3G had, but I wouldn't think a newer whiz-bang headset would be needed? -Always hopeful: when FroYo comes out, is it not correct that a new radio will need to be flashed, and if so, could that potentially solve the issues?
Thanks to any & all...
The vibrant signal meter is flat out just bad. HSPDA in my area maxes at 1mbps ive never seen higher than that with any phone in any area of town. with the vibrant in my bedroom with 0 bars on 3G i get 800kbps download and 700 up. I was just on the phone and walked into my kitchen, my nokia n900 would break up or drop a call and, my blackberry would drop calls in there. The vibrant did not drop the call and didnt get choppy at all.
ive only tried the BT once it seemed to work but i didnt use it much.
