Missing phone functions - no more!

I've been using PocketPC Phone Edition since the first XDA came out. Since then a lot of things has changed, devices gained more memory, became faster, smaller, adopted Bluetooth and WiFi. But one thing remain almost unchanged - phone dialer. It does serve the purpose, but a lot of things are missing and annoys avid cellphone user. You know what I am talking about
For me one of the biggest concern was absence of Calling Card support. I am communicating with our overseas officies couple of times a day on the regular basis and dialing all those numbers is really pain. So, while I was looking for calling card support add-on I came across this piece of software - MobiDial.
It's not a total phone dialer replacement, more like a shell for it. It does everyihng I want and excpect from a phone - calling card support, one hand operation, vibratouch, nice and clean interface.

As you can see, all buttoms are big and nicely placed. Also, you can enable vibra option, so you can actually feel when buttom is pressed.
At the bottm you can see row of icons:
Settings, address book mode (see screenshot below), 4 strars represent speed dial windows where you can also assign pictures, and call log icon.
You can switch in between them by pressing jog left and right and scroll in address book mode by up and down.
As I've mentioned before, the biggest advantage for me is Calling Card support. Programm automaticaly dials International numbers without any users intervention. Actually, you can specify this in the settings: always use card, ask user and bever use it.

Couple of things: current release version doesn't work correctly with Second Edition, but beta with SE support is available upon rewuest from developer. Also, first load takes about 5 sec, but then it pops up instantly, by the way, you can assign harware answer/hangup buttoms to MobiDial

Combined with the Sendrui pocketzenphone application, you might not even look at the screen to know when to answer whom. Any advice?

RingtoneX does this nicely. I have all my contacts filed under Categories in Outlook (like Family, Friends, VIP, Business, etc.). RingtoneX lets me assign ringtones to each individual or by category. It works perfectly. Since you can create any category name you want it makes it real easy. (Only thing I've noticed is it didn't like spaces in my category names like "Friends 1", so I changed my category name to Friends_1 and now it works great).
Anyways, it's only $7 for the software, and it works very well.

Delivery Reports and the numbers on them

Anyone had issues with delivery reports for SMS whereby they only show the number and not the name to who it was delivered to?
Very annoying as I do go thorugh about 30-40 SMS's a day and not knowing who the delivery reports belong to.

It very annoying indeed! You can solve it by installing the attached cab-file. After install you get a shortcut in the Programs folder where you can set options:

I live in the netherlands, so all my phone numers start with +31 in my contacts list.
How does the phone number digits count work?
If it is set to 12(max) does this mean it also takes yhe phonenumbers with less?
Does it also work if there's a space in a phonenumber, ie
+31 6########
This because, even with a soft reset, I can't seem to get it to work....

I'm also Dutch but for the sake of this forum i will try to explain it in english :wink:
When i set my digits count to 12 it also doesn't work!
Explanation:
All my Phone numbers also start with +31. The Phone number digits setting is used to match a phonenumber to the contact in your addresbook. the number you can set directs to the amount of numbers (counting from the last number back) that is indivdual for each incoming phone number. e.g. "+31" is for all dutch mobile numbers the same so you don't have to address them. Therefor i set my digits count to "9". When you set it to 12, it won't regognize incoming numbers wich do not have the +31 prefix.
I don't know why you have spaces in your telephone numbers? If it doesn't work i suppose there is the problem. Just format all your phonenumbers as +31612345678 and it should work it think.

yes that should work. "where to search" points to the different telephone fields in your addresbook, if you only select "mobile". The program only searches the mobile numbers in your addresbook to match a name to the incomming number. When you select "Business" and "Home" also, it will look for that type of phonenumbers too. I think it is not convenient to select "home" in this field because you will normally not receive SMS-textmessages from a homephone, but then again it will probably make no difference in the function of this app.

Stand Alone Eten ZoomSMS !! working

i remember someone ask about how to modified ZoomSMS to working alone without scenerios and callfilter and its own missed call history(This apps use missed call history of itself and may intefere with phonealarm).
Concept is :
1.Put phoneservice.exe in Windows\ and put shortcut to startup folder and reset to let it resident in memory.
2.Remove taskbar icon by change this key.
HKLM\ControlPanel\Eten\ScenariosOption\Showicon
Change dword value from 1 to 0
Anyway,u may left it show but when u tap on it,it'll show error about missing something.
3.after 1 and 2 ,SMS-alert part on ZoomSMS is going to work fine but the Missed call alert,when u click on blue Missed call item it'll show error about finding quicklinksetting.exe (This is app. to run its own missed call history).
So u just grab tCallHistory.exe (wrote by someone here,i think) rename it to quicklinksetting.exe and put it in Windows\.Now see it work

use the NEXT VERSION!

A little trick to install very very quickly....
The little icon in the taskbar remain...however you can tap on it but do nothing!
No bad...
Just download, install and soft-reset!
P.s.
I have also replaced "quicklinksetting.exe" with another (better) one....
This little App simply display (using a beauty icon) on Today the missed calls and the unread SMS.....it alsto open the received sms in a proper magnified windows...
...sorry my bad english but at this moment i'm writing in 3 different language -I hate my university...eheheh...

Finally...this is an "EtenPack"...
the only differences is that this cab install the REAL "scenarios" to change the Phone's Profiles.....you can access to this program from the icon in the Today's Taskbar or from an icon in "Programs".....
Using scenarios u can configura 5 profiles!

Installed didn't work...

The EtenPack works good with the " Artemis Vanilla 1.0 WWE - 5.2.1908 (Build 18505.0.7.0)" but not the stand Alone ZoomSMS
But doesn't work with "Artemis Touch 2.1 WM6 WWE ROM"

yes. No button mapping needed.. PTT button is a software button on program.

I also can verify that it is working nicely, a few glitches to work out all in good time. I used HButton to remap the program so when minimized it comes up, then on my wizard I use the center on the d pad and hold while I talk then release. Just like nextel, bit slower but free, what can I say! You have to (sender and receiver) both be set up on the system to communicate but that doesn't take too long to get set up. Put the word out and we can all help work out the kinks so this system can run smoothly. Remeber before you lauch you must already be connected to the internet. Andason is also correct, if you leave it open then you would not have to do any mapping at all as the program uses the select button on your phone. If it is a different button on your phone it will not be difficult to find by trial and error. Remapping isn't that difficult and HButton is a free program, works great...................Later.

Great application. Works on Wifi with obvious delay. It did work with the T-mobile proxy plan but was obviously slow and unusable.

What advantages does this give over Palringo which also does voice, pics and text.....
Is there a review somewhere?

Ok, been messing a bit with this, dosent work when installed to storage card for me i dont even get an icon, and i cant add any contacts with it installed to device or add a group all i see is echo which is myself...what am i doing wrong i cant find any info on it
****edit*** NM i guess u have to install the desktop app to add people, which i dont understand at all, so i guess whoever you want to PTT has to have this installed also with an account, i guess i can see some fuctionality, but i wont be using this personally most people i know wont use this type of app

this has been addressed and is being fixed.

new cab for LoudTalks
There is a new release of the program here, many bugs have been addressed. If you are an existing user of "LoudTalks" then after loading the cab when the box comes up to enter new usernames and password just hit cancel in the botom right corner and then the boxes for existing users comes up. Enter in your username and password and you will be up and running.

Okay so basicly it has a
tabslide for updating your status
tabslides for unread tweets*
*cause tweets will only have 140 characters.. it will be possible to show them completely in the tabslide itself.. hovering over means.. it is read

it has a function to show like unread text/email... but than how many unread tweets.
it should have a notification option in the sound/alarms section inside wm6.5 options.. so you can add your own sound/vibrate/mute to it.
and most important.. it should run in backround.. without popping up in the taskmessenger.
it should have options for how many times a day it will update (5 minutes/30 minitues etc)

extra - a sort of extra inprogram window ( this will mean you go out of wm6.5 today ). where you can see all tweets. or at least latest 100 or something
I hope someone can develop this, cause i think personally it will have a big target audience Me myself.. aint a programmer.. would like to, but i simply dont know where to start on it and/or how!

Isn't twitter accessible via standard SMS? I thought most people use twitter in tandem with their built-in SMS system, and since you already have a txt plugin on titanium you should be good to go!
Sure, it would be nice to see the mailboxes kept seperate between tweets and all else, but personally I'd like to see an RSS feed or active tasks (i.e. the PIM tasks) since there is currently no other way to get that on the 6.5 today screen.

so if i use pocketwit on my phone right an send twitts, itll be using my text messages??? i ask cause i dont have an unlimited text plan an dont wanna get burned aka screwed with a huge bill!!!

Not necessarily. I said it CAN be used in tandem with SMS, and it shares many similarities (limited character message size, etc), however that doesn't mean you get charged for each tweet.
I don't know anything about pocketwit, but it may use data instead of SMS.
Most people I know use standard SMS instead of data, especially if they don't own a smartphone.
While I would agree that a twitter plugin is a cool idea (if you sms a lot, your tweets could get lost in the crowd), there are other potential plugins as I already mentioned that currently have no alternative. If it were up to me, I'd like to see those come out first.

gotcha!! but off hand do you know if pocketwit uses data or sms???

ye pocket twit is using data .. you can send tweets by email i believe but of cours that would still be data connection required

It should be possible to build a panel a bit like Shocos Weather panel which comes in two MortScript parts:
1. Settings, stores stuff in the registry like username, password and frequencies of updates, default Twitter app
2. The downloading of the tweet, shouldn't be too hard as it's pretty similar to the weather panel (might need a little work on the avatars), just need the RSS feed [although saying that, I'm not 100% sure you can get a password requested XML file with Mort, damm!].
The only thing that I can't see being possible is the update page, as I'm not aware of any input boxes on the tabs, instead you could have a page showing your status, with clicking on it bringing up a Mort prompt for the new status.
