Instaead of Hi I say you are great people
So the case is... I just need to have working Qtek 1010 with SOME additional soft on it inside a ROM...
I've read many pages in this forum and I'm able to find too many ways to change my ROM. I'm totaly confused.
I work for extremaly big worldwide company and they gave me q Qtek, told me to use it, gave me one simple application and web link... so I do.
But the Qtek is much powerfull than that so I need to flash my ROM.
Now comes a question: where can I find one document how to prepare for it, what tools do I need, how to do it... I know after some tries I will be confident enough to do such stuff easlily, my problem is I have only one try, they will make me w trouble if I screw my company recource.
I understand you had milion similar questions like that. Basicly I need help how to flash so I can be sure 100% not less that I can recover in case of trouble. I hope you understand I'm afraid to do it because lack of experience and you are able to tell me if I should try to flash...
or maybe it's better for me to ask my boss to by me a 512 MB SD and install all additional soft on it and stop worring about memory?
I'd appreciate any opinion... you are the best and I'm just new to this bussines...
Get an sd card, backup existing rom to sd card, very easy to do by bootloader method. Enter bootloader by holding down power while inserting stylus in the reset hole on the bottom left of pda then press top right function key, then choose ce to sd. Once you have done this you can check if it has in fact backed up your rom by putting sd card in the pda, enter bootloader, it will then give the option to program the rom, just remove the card and push the reset with stylus again, the other method to check a working backup is to put the sd card in the pda, the pda will ask to format it, say no and remove it. Once you have a backup you can either use xdatools to copy it to your pc or keep it in a safe place, no more files must be written to this card otherwise it will be rendered useless, if you wish to reuse the card sometime it will need formatting. Once you have your backup, go to www.yorch.net, cook yourself a rom and download it in the exe format, this will do a normal install from your pc while connected to pda via activesync, if it messes up you always have your backup. Once you become more proficient at using xdatools you might wish to try out lots of different roms until you are happy with the result, you can go on to sd card flashing which is a much better way of programming rom and much less prone to error because it doesnt rely on a pc connection. I would advise you to leave the radio stack alone, if you can make and receive call ok leave it alone. Have a thorough look around the forum before proceeding. Its good fun to program your pda and you can make it a much better tool, but make sure you always have a way out if things go wrong.
www.yorch.net not working... is there a place like that?
Hi!
I read the above post, one of the clearest here, and I almost got the confidence to finally do this ROM update...
But:
1) Can't find the www.yorch.net website where I could "cook myself a rom and dowload it in a .exe format"
2)It's still not very clear to me what exactly cooking a ROM means: it concerns the OS (the version 1.53, 1.72 type of stuff), the extended ROM (the default programs u get starting after and hard reset like the SW for the camera etc) or both?
Thanks!!!
Chris
Another ROM Kitchen
Try the following ROM Kitchen http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
I noticed that you have the XDAII. Now, someone please correct me if I'm wrong but the directions above and the ROM kitchens are all for the XDA I or Wallaby version.

Chris,
Those Roms are made for XDA1 beware it's not made for the device you have!!!!!!
What's the kitchen for XDA II
THANK YOU!
I was starting on the wrong foot... :-( :?
Anyway a couple of more question:
1) Is there a place like that for XDA II Kitchen? Is my undestanding of what a kitchen is correct?
2) The process for ROM backup outlined above, is still correct for XDA II?
Thanks!
Chris
I'm in the same boat as you CChris. I've been diligently a daily searching through the numerous topics on this site looking for similar information. I haven't found it yet - or at least nothing not-to-super-technical. I do know that you get to the bootloader by pressing the power button, reset button, and down on the toggle at the same time rather than the Wallaby way of the power and reset buttons only. It also seems that there are issues regarding 'country' and that it requires software to get around this. I haven't found the software yet - the links that I've seen all point to "itsme's" website which is currently down.
You can read the thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=9053&highlight=
Hopefully, someone with a lot more knowledge than me can go over updating the XDA II as clearly as cruisin-thru did for the XDA I.
The instructions on http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/HimalayaRomFlashing are correct.
Unfortunately, there was an issue where the wiki removed the ~ from itsme's website's address. It's been replaced with %7e and now the link works.
If you download a ROM from the same vendor as your device (e.g. Qtek ROM on Qtek device, iMate ROM on iMate device, etc.) you don't need to use these instructions, you can just install the ROM upgrade from your vendor.
If you want to use the latest ROM (from iMate) and your device isn't an iMate, you need to decrypt, change the "country" code, encrypt, and then run the upgrade.
You can also edit the extended ROM when flashing, but it's easier to use itsme's extRom Tools. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=8422
You do NOT need to flash the ROM if you are not experiencing problems, or if you are experiencing problems which the new ROM also has (for example ugly cleartype fonts, which may be fixed without flashing). Flashing the ROM may void your warrantee. You will lose all your data when you upgrade, and you should not restore a backup, only your my documents folder.
If you are a newbie, it may be best not to flash your ROM. If you typed in itsme in google, you would have found his xs4all address as the third link, and would have quickly found out his site wasn't down at all, but the link was just wrong.
Just a warning: the things that could go wrong when flashing are potentially much worse than a wrong URL, and the answer to those problems won't be the third link in google.

Rabia can you tell me how did you get out from there?
never got out of it
i did it!!i can t believe i managed to upgrade to the new t-mobile rom using xdatools without any problem.it went smooth like a glass of oil and now it reads:
ROM Version 4.01.16 ENG
ROM Date 02 04 04
Radio Version 4.21.00
Well done to me( ...and all those people working hard behind this site)!!
it was much less problematic and complicated than i expected and i d like to say to all newbies and not expert people same as me that if i managed to do that, everyone can.just spend an hour or two reading through all the posts in this forum and you ll learn how to do it.
Question: as soon as i soft reset my device there is this error message coming up in the today screen:"This program only works with windows mobile 2003 (4.20.1081).now what program is it referring to?if i press ok to that error window to close the message everything works fine and i don t really know where the error is.has anyone experienced the same?
thanks
...sorry...
....sorry guys...i was trying to post this into the t-mobile 2003 official rom page but i must have entred post new topic rather than post a reply by mistake.i will post it there cose it makes a bit more sense and if someone replys to me it might help some others that just updated to t-mobile 2003 .
developers you might want to delete this post here and i apologize again for the mistake.
ciao
Where did you download the rom? It is possible that if you cooked a rom in one of the kitchens you may have checked a program that will not run under wm2003 so when it atempts to initialise from rom it gives the error. Now you know how its done maybe you should cook another rom and pay particular atention to the additional software options available to you, if the text next to the program says 2002 only then it should be unchecked when building a wm2003 rom.

emm053,
I also posted this on the other thread, but thought I'd copy it here in case someone is interested as well:

Yes, I found the same problem. After a little trial and error, I found that the file wm03hotfix.exe in the Windows\Startup folder was the culprit. I moved this file out of Startup into a backup location (just in case), and the problem went away.
Don't know what this file is supposed to do, but I guess we don't need it.

"This program only works with windows mobile 2003 (4.20.1081)"
Had this problem also. what i did was remove the start up programs from the start up folder (all the t-mobile apps) and it doesn't come up any more... again this is what i did to remove the error. i'm not sure this remove it from your XDA.
It's the update for WM 2003
I had the same problem. There's an update in the Startup folder (Found in \Windows\startup) called update.exe or something. Just delete that and it'll sort the problem.

Hi mates,
the error mentioned here will occure if you checked "fix multiple reset bug" while cooking your ROM.
the supplied s/w (wm03hotfix.exe) gives this error message. there is another perfect tiny s/w to solve this WM2003 bug and it's called clear_notify.exe
simple search and you will find .. just put it in \windows\startup directory.

You've tried unlocking the extended ROM using the tools on this site haven't you. They don't wirk unfortunately, all they do is lock the storage so you can't write to it and unfortunately hard resets don't work. I know, I did it when I knew nothing about these devices as well. Have a look at this tool by Gorosz:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=147439
Also if you are not in the UK, this ROM may be better for you:
ftp://xda:[email protected]_Ext-1.11.162_Radio-1.04_O2stuffstripped.rar
Good luck,
Pug.
Thx Pug,i can fix my O2 error.I uesd exttools_modified_alpine to unlock the Stogare and delete all files in Storage. After that,i Up Rom again and everything is good.
Anyone have the same error with me can do that:
1.Open the registry->HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->System->StogareManager->Profiles>TRUEFFS_DOC->
rename "Stogare" to another name(e.x: "hello")
2.SR->used exttools_modified_alpine to unlock Extrom Rom
3.Go to the folder using File Explorer to delete all files in folder that you rename (e.x: "hello")
4.Rename that folder (hello) to Storage again and SR
5.Up Rom again and everything will good.
Thx for a friend in VN help me fix this problem and thx for Pug much.
Hi Pug,
I need your help buddy. I bought Alpine (PDA2) and it was so cool. Now I have a problem that its touchpad is not working anymore. PDA is working fine but no more touchpad. I didnt drop it at all. Let me tell you what happened.
I used permanent save function to save my contact list. It saved the contacts and then it happened. After some time a window showed up "Contact syncronizing" and after that touchpad didnt work.
I have replaced different ROMs since then, every update has completed successfully but touchpad is not working. Can you guide me what to do ? I am sure somehow touchpad has become disabled (not hardware problem) is there any pc utility which can link with it ??? Pls help
Qbukhari.
Can you align the screen at all after a hard reset or rom update? If not it's a hardware problem and the touchpad needs replacing. Possibly the connector from the screen to the m/board has come loose, unlikely though.
The only problem I have found that survived a hard reset was a locked storage.
But may i have attention plz
i have an alpine (O2 xdaIIi)
i never delt such a case i had today, it was just a user code in that set, i hard reset that set but the password was still there, i was surprized. why code is still there after hard reset.
i quickly flashed my set with this rom Alpine_Ext-1.11.162_Radio-1.04_O2stuffstripped
but my amazment was more gaged after doing flash that user code is still there...........
how it can be possible ???
now i wanna know is, if the rom is erased and ihave flasehd a new rom then why password is still there
and phone is still giving owner info
pleaes seniors i need answer on this strange issue

white freeze
hi guys, little help needed, i'm about to cry.
tried resizing using the doc_repartioning tool etc, seemed to go well, then i flashed to wm6, hard reset, played no,yes, yes game. But the screen does not reset! It is stuck on the white reset screen. a normal reset results in a freeze on the blue green red white screen showing the radio version etc.
I've tried reflashing and reflashing to wm5, same problem.
Reflashing to wm3 gives a ext rom error.
I've realized i used doc_repart tool on wm5 when i should have flashed to wm3 first.
What can i do ???
ok, now i've managed to flash to wm3 by flashing device by skipping the ext rom upgrade and only doing the CE upgrade.
white freeze
storage in wm3 has increased to 60MB, cool.
but still having white screen freeze problems on upgrading to wm6!
white freeze
solved!!!
used mitty tool.
damn... storage has gone to 43mb again!!

hi guys,
"mitty tool" ? i can't find this tool,
what's application name for resize storage WM6?
many thanks.....
there is a tool called MTTY, without the "i" you should be able to find it. in general for the storage resize you flash back to your shipped rom wm2003 and then resize it using the tool mentioned in the wiki (link below). to get a storage size of 60mb instead of 43 and have no further extrom problems.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardUpgrade1_WM50
this wizard guides you through the downgrade, the resize and the upgrade again, follow it step by step and you will have no problems getting the job done. if however any of the download links in the wiki doesn't work (didn't test), please make sure to report it here, so
1. you can be given the files
2. the links can be changed
good luck
