Just wanted to tell you all that, when I get home from work, I've got a Holux Slim 236 GPS receiver, a 1GB SanDisk miniSD and TTN5, all waiting to be installed.
Why, oh why, do I feel I'm going to be spending hours doing this one?!
While I'm here, has anyone successfully installed the Bakonl TTN5 on the Wizard (mine's an XDA Mini S actually), and with the cracked 5.21 patch? Any hints/tips would be much appreciated.
Cheers!
Good Luck!!
I have installed ttn5 on numerous devices and the only problems i ever had was with the bluetooth link and installing on my xda mini s was the worst so far!
If you do get problems with com ports -there was a post that got me up and running - i think it was on here somewhere:
once tt is installed there is a file in the tt folder called 'navigator cfg' copy that to your pc and open it with wordpad, there will be a load of rubbish on there but you will see 'com port0' or something like that, change this to com port 5 and save it , overwrite the original in the tt folder and try running tt again, it should be ok.Actual installation should be easy enough,
cheers and once again good luck...
Good luck! Best not to talk about cracked versions of commercial software though. This is not that kind of community.

Assuming you have the SD card image version downloaded (and a legit copy you purchased as well to stay legal )
Just copy all of the files to the root of your SD card (don't put them in a subfolder), run the TTN.Cab, GPS.cab & wiz.cab files from the 2577 from file explorer on your XDA to install. Copy the Balkonl 5.21 cracked EXE to your XDA overwriting the orginal and then copy the folder named "TomTom to your "my documents folder" on your XDA.
Next Pair your XDA with your GPS receiver (some need to create a new Com port, if yours does remember the port number)
Fire up TomTom, go into preference, choose "Other Bluetooth GPS" and select the Com port.
Took 10 minutes to install on mine this way!. Not promising this will work for you but my install worked first time using this method.
Not condoning software piracy but until TomTom sort the problems out with their installer i'll be using the cracked version even though I have a legit copy!

Basically ... no. I mean, I did get it working, with not too much trouble, but every time I closed TomTom and started again, all my settings had been lost - home, favourites, POI warnings. I just thought this was really annoying! Also the map version I had was quite old and had quite a lot of errors.
Unfortunately, I don't have an SD card image version. Trying to look for one at the mo. Any suggestions?

Hi, I'm hoping to get the new Windows Mobile 5 device dubbed the HTC Universal, AKA o2 xda Exec.
TomTom tell me TomTom Navigator 5 is NOT compatible with it.
www.mobilefun.co.uk state that it is compatible.
Some people on forums say they have 5.1 working with the device.
Other people state the Bluetooth won't lock in.
Does anyone here know the truth?
Yes it will work
It works. I use TT 5.1 about every day (via a bluetooth receiver). Here's the instructions to install the program.
http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=28171&highlight=
Go about half way down.
To install your BT GPS receiver. First pair the device. Then add a new COM Port under the Bluetooth settings. You want to add an OUTGOING port. I usually specify it as COM0. Then start up TT5, go into GPS configuration, selct "Other BT Receiver", then select COM0 from the menu. TOMTOM will automatically start up BT (it doesn't have to on before you launch the program), find the already paired receiver and start communicating with (give it some time though. the whole process takes about 30 seconds to a minute).
Hope this helps.
Cool, thanks!
And finally... I assume the Universal can support 2 simultaneous bluetooth connections? E.g. can I use TomTom with the bluetooth GPS at the same time as speaking on a bluetooth car kit?
To keep things simple
Tomtom 5.0 does NOT work with the Universal. Tomtom 5.1 Does. Hpoe this helps
Received my T-Mobile UK MDA PRO today. I can confirm that TomTom 5.1 DOES work great on it with any bluetooth GPS device, although it was a few hours before I stumbled upon a thread in this forum which had instructions on how to get it working
jasjar works fine with tt5.1 and can connect at same time with gps, headset and many bluetooth devices

Yes it does. I have 5.0 running on my JASJAR now. Haven't upgraded to 5.1 yet in case it breaks something.
just replace the tomtom navigator.exe with the 5.1 version, all done.
How on earth did you manage to get TT5.0 to work?
I have tried everything (all the above tricka and then some) and cannot get the right com port to show up from within Tomtom? Can you tell me step by step?

It does work, if you follow the guide in this thread exactly:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=28386
However, I had to use COM4 instead of COM0.
I also had a problem where I connected everything to the right COM port, could see TomTom accessing the GPS device by the LEDs, but still "no GPS device found!" - it seems TomTom likes your GPS device better if it's actually locked onto a signal (so go outside!), give all this a try
...talking of TTN5....
Has anyone had any success getting TT working with the Wired GPS mouse? Is there a way to connect it to the Exec...?(mini USB to serial connector?)
If the 2 can be physically connected, does the software see it/connect up properly?
TIA
cheers
Paul
FYI, I emailed TOMTOM about the installer crashing, and guess what they said. "TOMTOM 5 is not supported on the IMATE JasJar."
What a load of cobblers. It works perfectly well if you install it using the cab files. TOMTOM support is the biggest load of s**t I have ever come across.
JJ works fine with the following:
1) Navigon MN 5
2) TT 5.1
3) OnCourse Navigator
4) iGuidance
These have been tried and tested.
Just cause it's not supported it doesn't mean they don't think it'll work. it just means that they won't help you fix it if it goes wrong becuase they have not tested on that platform. always worth a try regardless of what the vendor or devlopers say!
Another MDA Pro with TT5
I just got an MDA Pro a couple of weeks ago, and being the fool I am, bought a copy of Tom Tom 5 from Fleabay (doh!).
On receipt, I could not get the software to load from my PC, and when trying to copy over the cab files manually, the ttn.cab file will not load on the PDA. On closer inspection, this has got something to do with 'Bekonl' so appers I have wasted some money on cracked software that does not work.
Is this right? Or if I can obtain an alternative ttn.cab file, will it load, if so will it be locked? I was just looking for a reasonable low priced SatNav solution - but this is proving to be harder than I thought!
For those of you coming from a WM2003 device you can simply install TomTom on a memory card on that. Take the memory card out and put in Universal. It works. That's it.
I am not unfortunately. I am coming from a Mk1 paper diary, a £3.99 map from the petrol station, and a bullet proof Nokia 6310i!
All help gratefully received though.

If the ttn cab fails to install try this;
uninstall all tomtom entries from remove programs.
Remove sd card from device
install gps.cab
soft reset (this is the important bit)
install ttn.cab
JJ
JJ works fine with Oziexplorer, Tomtom5x

im having a nightmare!!! after reading through hundreds of forums to get tomtom 5 on the xda mini s i finally manged to install tomtom 5.21 on my device but now i have a problem, a couple of forums advised to just install 5.21 not version 5 (not compatible with wm5). 5.21 installs perfectly, i have all the maps and voices, but now as i have obtained the tomtom 5.21 update when i get past the voice section it tells me to enter a product code, i only have a copy of tomtom 5 so i havent got a product code. is there anyway round this????? ive tried a crack 5.21 but it just tells me when i try to install it on my device "tomtom failed to start"
anyone got any step by step suggestions its driving me crazy!!!!

I do not think you will find a hack for this at the moment...
Just use your original product code, but that is just a beginning of nightmares. Bluetooth does not work with GPS devices. That is a present from Microsoft. You would think with new version compatibility would improve. Well, let's just wait for M-soft updates.
@peralex:
That's complete nonsense!
You just need to pair the wizard with the gps, assign a new outgoing port (COM6 by default) DO NOT CHECK THE SECURE CONNECTION CHECKBOX!
Turn off the wizard, turn it on, now start TTN5.21 WITHOUT manually enabling BT. (TTN enables it for you) Then select 'other BT GPS' on COM6 and voila, wait for a fix and navigate away.
@Topicstarter
Your TTN5 product key should work with 5.21.
well thats the thing i need a crack so i dont have to enter a product code, because the ttn5 is a copy i dont have a product code!
Wow, I did not know that you have to go through the whole voodoo ritual to enable simple GPS, but thanks, I will try it.

Remember to stick a needle in your styrofoam dummy gps receiver before switching the real thing on!
By word simple I did not mean "styrofoam" and from respect to this forum I am not going into BS with you MoFo.
I've been using the Atom since early Jan and TomTom 5.21 is the program thats not working, it's also a program that I really badly need.
But I am having big problems trying to get it to work
I've got a crack version and it installs fine but when it comes to selecting a voice.. it always freezes and goes no further.
I've been trying for days and nights but i'm getting nowhere
Can someone please help or advise me!!
Many thanks.

Writing a little step by step guide for a working TTN 5.21 installation, I'll post it in about 3 or 4 hours, I'm at work now... I'll try and answer all PM's as well by then.
TTN 5.21 on wizard (originally SD install of 5.0):
- Insert Memorycard into PPC and ,in case of WM5, cancel installation.
- Connect PPC to PC and run the 5.21 update (available on tomtom.com)
- When installed, activate (or "activate" )
Use GPS instruction above and navigate away. Easy, isn't it?
If it's not working, post it, I'll see if I can help.[/b]
i installed tomtom 5.21 on sd card, then start the 4 (i think) cab files from folder 2577, place then on device. you will have to do a reset with one of the files, it tells u when. then goto programs and run tomtom. thats it. been working all day no probs, just need a phone that works now.?
dont forget the blue tooth peairing, like u have been told above.
there are many guides on TTN5 on WM5 on this forum, i have read & added to some of them.
* 5.21 IS Version 5, so your version 5 key should work fine
* Bluetooth should be paired, open a port, then add in TTN as "other BT GPS on port XX"
* If TTN hangs when you start do a google for tomtom5 currentmap.dat (or search this forum)
* you DO NOT need to install 5.0 then upgrade
* you CAN just install the 4 CAB files direct to your PDA without using a PC
FOR THE PPL THAT NEED THAT"""FILE"""" TO MAKE IT WORK
email me [email protected] and il email it to you
I thought i should post in this thread being as tho I had loads of problems getting thins to work on my wizard but now it's done it works a treat. Here's how i did it:
1. Installed the 4 .cab files from the "2577" folder into the root of my mini s
2. coped the GB map onto my mini sd card
3. updated to 5.21 (i've read that you dont have to install version 5 first but i did and it work for me). To update i installed the 2 .cabs files
4. soft reset
5. create a "tomtom" folder and put it in "my documents"
6. in the "tomtom" folder put your voice files that you want to use also make sure that the "currant map" file is in there
7. pair your gps receiver with your mini s. Create outgoing port 6 then tick the serial port box.
8. start tomtom and setup etc choose "other gps unit" and select port 6
thats it it worked for me. tomtom will switch on your bluetooth automatically. it took me a while but it's simple once your've done it. I'ce hard reset me mini s a couple of times now and reinstalled tomtom and it's worked no problems.
cheers
I am having major problems with TT5 and my mini s. I have tried everything suggested and can get TT5 working but not 5.1 or 5.2 (just freezes when selecting a voice). However TT doesn't see my bluetooth gps. COM6 just doesn't appear in the list of COM ports available in the TT gps setup.
Any ideas?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I had the same problem but then did the following:
1. On your desktop, launch Notepad.
2. Type & \Storage Card\XXXXXX_map\ (don't forget to add the final back slash and have a space between the "&" and the first backslash. (XXXX = the name of your map directory on ur SD card)
3. Save the file as CurrentMap.dat. Make sure it doesn't end up as CurrentMap.dat.txt!
4. Create a folder on your KJam \My Documents\TomTom
5. Copy your newly created CurrentMap.dat file from your desktop into \My Documents\TomTom on your wizard
Soft reset - hopefully it now works!
thanks for all,
finally, i had got it working.
BUT what folder i can Delete after all working?
thanks
Hi all. I’m having a real problem with my xda mini s and Bluetooth. After reading through the advice her got it working with Tomtom turning on Bluetooth and connecting to the receiver. After the mini s was turned off overnight Tomtom wouldn’t turn on Bluetooth, and turning it on manually was no good, as Tomtom wouldn’t connect to the receiver (see earlier post).
After much messing around did a hard reset and reinstall and all was fine, until the next day, when after the mini s was turned off overnight Tomtom wouldn’t turn on Bluetooth, and turning it on manually was no good Etc Etc!!
Does anyone know what is going on as I don’t want to have to do a reinstall ever morning!! Should I have kept my XDA2?
Hope you can help, as I don’t have much hair left as it is.
I thought it may be of use to future TT5 users. Today I bought TT5 Navigator in the UK from Dixons (yeah hate the shop too but it was an impulse buy). There was no CD supplied but instead a 128mb SD card was in the box with TT5 and the UK maps. After I copied this to my mini SD it installed perfectly first time, straight out of the box. Having checked in the preferences the version is 5.210 (5430).
Unfortunately it doesn't rotate the screen when I slide the keyboard out. But at least they seem to have fixed the installation.
EDIT: I have an O2 XDA Mini S but did not install any of the O2 software.
But you can flip the screen in the TomTom setup all four ways
hiya
does TT5 works on the xda exec as well??
i am trying to install TT5. it came on a cd. loading instructions said to copy zip file to my documenys on xda exec and great britian maps on sd card then synchronise the xda and run cd and it should go fine. but this does not happen ? anybody knows about this problem?

How well do you find it runs on the Wizard?
I'm in pretty much exactly the same position, although I have a slightly older 5.0 version which I'm running on my X50V. It seems daft to take both the X50V and XDA Mini S so I'm looking to get Tomtom on the Mini S - my main concern is battery draw, I assume you're using a BT GPS receiver, how quickly does it run down?
On another note, anyone know what the activation limits are for Tomtom? I've activated it once around October last year on the X50V, the Wizard is obviously a different device.
John
@mohammadasif
had the same problem installing TT5 on my wizard.
TT5 installation does check the capacity of your memory card and quits without any message ich it's insufficient.
After installing a 1G SD card everything went well.

Would there be any chance you could zip all of the files up and upload them somewhere? You need a license code to activate the software, so it wouldn't be illegal. It's just that alot of people seem to be having problems.
I thought, after spending a couple of days wrestling with this issue, that others might find it useful. If I've posted it in the wrong place, then I'm sure Admin will correct it.
I recently sold my XDA 2, which had TomTom Nav 5 running on it with no problems. When I tried to install TT5 on my new Tytn using my laptop I got a "Windows has experienced a problem and needs to close" error. I Emailed TT who, unhelpfully, said TT5 is not compatible with that phone yet, sorry.
I started to explore other ways around the problem and, after connecting to the Tytn using Activsync and going to Add/Remove programs, clicked on TomTom and Activsync installed the backup on my laptop. It fired up fine, Great!! I thought, except there were no working voices. I then found a piece of software on TomTom's site called TomTom Home and used that to install the missing voices, except - despite the software saying they were installed - they still didn't work. In desperation, I copied the voice Files (there are 3 for each language) onto my memory card and then installed it in the Tytn. I then used the Tytn file explorer to find them, clicked on the Cab file and it self-installed. I then opened TT5 and - everything works! Technically, I'm not sure how I got here, but I'm happy with the result. Hope this helps you too.

Hello,
The new TOMTOM 7 is available in cab file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401619
I download it and put in my Universal and my wizard:
Cannot install and load it on my device. Not compatible
Have you found or built a version compatible with our Uni?
Seb...
Ps: official devices compatible here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401691&page=3
This version seems to only work on devices with internal GPS.

Tomtom 7
Ok I have spent a few hours playing around with this. but I have Tomtom 7 and the UK maps working, it did take some pratting around with but it works.
The only down side is that its very memory heavy. and has crashed quite a few times.
I canot post any screen shots or chat about this until Aug as I am out of the country getting married.
please feel free to PM me but remember I will only help with the .Cab and not the maps unless you have got them legit from Tomtom.
remember donot post anything about WAREZ here.
I have been using it for a couple of weeks & it works great. There are lots of different versions around. The one I use is called
TomTom_Navigator_7.450.9028_repack2.cab & I am using it with the
United_Kingdom_and_Repubclic_of_Ireland_720_1803 map.
I tried quite a few different TT 7 cabs until I found this one. It also tried it on one of my Orange SPV M1000's (HTC Himalaya) & it works fine on that.
I've installed (succesfully!) tt7 repack 3 on my universal but sometimes (not always!) the screen make the light off ad I can't switch it on... Here's a patch (or a "repack 4" ) to resolve this problem??? I'm sure make all correctly but...
Thank U very very much!
Hello All,
I installed TTN 7 (repack 1 Italian) in my QTek 9000 with external GPS antenna without any problem and everything worked fine.
(I apologise for my English)
TomTom_Navigator_7.450.9028_repack2.cab version works fine also for me now.
I use it on my Uni and my Wizard with 7.20 maps
Could you please post a new link for the TomTom 7 cab, the one you have does not show any download possibilty. Thanks
