Best DVD Convertor

I`ve recently upgraded from a Sony Ericsson P910i to an O2 XDA Exec.
What I`m after is help with converting my DVD\Divx movies into something that can be played on the Exec.
I`ve spotted a few programs on www.handango.co.uk and www.expansys.com.
But am confussed...Which is best?
And what settings to use in terms of resolution, frame rate, etc.
Have a read of this link, you dont need to buy any software and the results are excellent

I would suggest MacTheRipper and ffmpegX, both of which are excellent.
Best Player
Many thanks.
I love the guide...Very easy to follow.
A couple of more questions...
Whats the best video player for the Exec?
If Windows Media Player is best then how can I get this to play Dixv\Xvid files?
I think this is the best one to date.
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about
its very good
So does this mean that you dudes don`t recommend getting the off-the-shelf one-click dvd convertors?
are you chaps finding that the video isnt completely smooth using tcpmp?
plug the JJ into the mains, you'll see an improvement in video playback over a certain resolution, smaller vids play fine anyway
BEST DVD - PPC Program
I bought Pocket DVD studio after trying it out - it was quite cheap., and in my opinion works great...
Thsi encodes them to WMV files (Windows Meida Version 9) - which media player can play. YES I KNOw - there are better players ot there...

I also bought DVD-to-PocketPC - THIS IS CRAP. It crops the videos to 4:3 aspect on some of the DVDs that I wanted to convert.
Their support was CRAP - yes they emailed me back and told me to read the help !!!!! - which is what I had done - and told them in the email that I had... a complete waste of money[/url]

http://www.pocketdivxencoder.net/
PocketDivXEncoder allows you to encode video files with some parameters that fit the capabilities of handled devices (PDA, Smartphone, Portable VideoPlayers). On a PocketPC, Palm, or Smartphone, the recommended software player is TCPMP on the above post
Try TCPMP and you will need no encoders. Recommending to se "Pocket hack master" to overclock you PDA so movies run smooth.

video problem

please help me, why cant i play avi files through windows media player? do i need a codec?, and if so where can i find it?. i have been looking.
Get a copy of TCPMP (or buy CorePlayer). That's much better for playing pretty much every file type. Just make sure to have a look here for optimal HS2 settings.

[Q] Can't play live radio on .asx files
Hey guys,
Anyone have an idea/app that can play an .asx streaming radio?
used to be able to do it with the hero from a link in yourmuze.fm but since changed to the SG nothing works.
Tried several live streaming radio apps like "A online radio". Also obviously tried just using the link in a the stations web page and that opens the video player that can't handle the file format.
any ideas?
thanks
Roi
I found it!!!
Sorry guys, my stupidity, I wan't straming from the mobile site of Yourmuze.fm ie //m.yourmuze.fm but from the main site and therefore the files being streamed were't set up for the mobile / android. now it all works fine, you just link your radio station stream ip address and the yourmuze server digests it for you format and download speed requirement.
perfect!!!
[Q] Internet radio recording app ?
The iphone has the Tunein radio app that allows playback of a huge number of internet radio stations and the ability to record them.
Is there an app like this for the Galaxy S ?
i usually do this on my PC in winamp
but i guess there could be times when you listen to something good on the phone and you want to grab it
it'll be hady to have an app to do this
BrooveAdore is one but still beta
Online radio help
I'm using An Online Radio, which I also used on my nexus one.
But on the SGS, I cannot manage to input the url of my favorite radio station.
If I try to search it from aor, it's not that effective, so I would prefer to just copy the radio link.
i save the links for my favorite streaming radio stations somewhere in my phone so that when i need to save them in a new app i just copy them and paste them. much easier than trying to type them out if you cant find them in the apps list
In order to play .asx files anywhere like in windows phones, windows media player, ipod, ipad, itunes, mp3 or mp4 player, android, samsung galaxy, a recommend solution is to convert .asx to other video or audio formats on Mac or Windows
Just google search Step by Step Guide on How to Convert ASX toASX to MP3, WMA, AVI, MP4, WAV
You will find a simple solution

video: local 720p vs. 720p stream

Hello,
Because this is problem for a long time and I simply dont understand why this problem available I need to ask it from you all.
Could anybody tell me, or help why possible local content 720p or 1080p smoothly on any Galaxy S or Galaxy Tab, and why not possible to play exactly those files throught DLNA. I I try to play one 1-2 gig 720p file from internal memory, both of my device play it smoothly as stock Samsung ROM-s has codecs for almost all needed situations. If I try to play this files from any of my DLNA servers (direct device, Winods/Linux PC, or the other Samy device...) I simply could not play it, because the player tell me that the format is incorrect... DLNA is just a specification about protocoll to use your network as media streamer/forwarder, in this case DLNA istelf not care about the media content, and any other spec. of the files... players are the same, so I know that it could play the files as from local it can play those. When I try to play throught DLNA/network I could not. Could not with official All Share, or https://market.android.com/details?id=cx.hoohol.silanoid&feature=search_result, but could not play with anything. The player at the and is always the same, the official, stock video player what can handle those files I'm sure! There is something header problem, if yes, why, what we can do?
Can anybody help me in it?
Lot of thanks in advanced for anybody who can help in it!
Regards,
Look into using cifs.ko with mountmanager. Then it treats files as if they were local. Use vplayer too. Allshare won't play some stuff over network
