[HOWTO] play online live radio streams (*.ram, *.asf, *.asx) - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi there,
I have just bought an i9000.
I would like to listen to online stream radio.
The content of the files is as followed:
For the ram file,
*rtsp://mslive01.881903.com/encoder/cr-02-rm*
For the asf file,
please see the attachement.
Anyone know how to get the phone to player?
What kind of app do i need?
I have tried realplayer and rockplayer, but they could not open them.
Thanks a lot!
Bao

Could anyone suggest a free app where I could play mms:// or rtsp:// ?

yxplayer streams video. Stream media player by psa should also play audio streams.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

[Q] Can't play live radio on .asx files
Hey guys,
Anyone have an idea/app that can play an .asx streaming radio?
used to be able to do it with the hero from a link in yourmuze.fm but since changed to the SG nothing works.
Tried several live streaming radio apps like "A online radio". Also obviously tried just using the link in a the stations web page and that opens the video player that can't handle the file format.
any ideas?
thanks
Roi

I found it!!!
Sorry guys, my stupidity, I wan't straming from the mobile site of Yourmuze.fm ie //m.yourmuze.fm but from the main site and therefore the files being streamed were't set up for the mobile / android. now it all works fine, you just link your radio station stream ip address and the yourmuze server digests it for you format and download speed requirement.
perfect!!!

[Q] Internet radio recording app ?
The iphone has the Tunein radio app that allows playback of a huge number of internet radio stations and the ability to record them.
Is there an app like this for the Galaxy S ?

i usually do this on my PC in winamp
but i guess there could be times when you listen to something good on the phone and you want to grab it
it'll be hady to have an app to do this

BrooveAdore is one but still beta

Online radio help
I'm using An Online Radio, which I also used on my nexus one.
But on the SGS, I cannot manage to input the url of my favorite radio station.
If I try to search it from aor, it's not that effective, so I would prefer to just copy the radio link.

i save the links for my favorite streaming radio stations somewhere in my phone so that when i need to save them in a new app i just copy them and paste them. much easier than trying to type them out if you cant find them in the apps list

In order to play .asx files anywhere like in windows phones, windows media player, ipod, ipad, itunes, mp3 or mp4 player, android, samsung galaxy, a recommend solution is to convert .asx to other video or audio formats on Mac or Windows
Just google search Step by Step Guide on How to Convert ASX toASX to MP3, WMA, AVI, MP4, WAV
You will find a simple solution

Streaming radio.

I want to stream radio to my Vario II.
Is there anything out there that will play .ram files? I know RealPlayer do not do a player for WM5's, so is there anything else?
Also, would this be frounded upon by the T-Mobile contract? Or are people streaming stuff without any warnings.

Not sure what files it plays, but resco radio is a very good radio streaming application. Check link below:
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/radio/default.asp
Would this be frowned upon by T-mobile? Probably, but not received any complaints yet.
My Vario 2 came with that kinda odd 'streaming media' program, which fires up when I load an .sdp file... Maybe you could try download the ram file, renaming it to sdp and tapping on it to open it? That may work...
I know TCPMP doesn't support the RTSP protocol, but there's the off-chance that it's not an rtsp stream of course. Not too likely though. I have the installer for the last version of Real Player before they went over to exclusively provide their software for Nokias, I could chuck it your way if you want (I've had mixed success getting it to work though).
Thanks gyus ...
www.radio4pda.com
Allows streaming via WM and others.
Matt
Real Player for Universal should work
Just google real player pocket pc, its a version 1.1
... This one, you mean?
So, will that do the job?
I mean how can one possibly play .ram files in streaming?
My favourite radio uses this kind of files only, thus making all other options (Resco, TPCMC, etc.) useless.
Hello,
I have discovered many radio streams now require the latest flash to be installed but when I install flash 7 it breaks the work I've done with tcpmp and the flash plugins for youtube. Any way to avoid this situation? I have both Opera mobile and IE installed on my 8525. is there a way to allow opera to use flash 7 while maintaining my settings in ie for youtube. Thanks in advance for your help.

Help with Yahoo Music

I currently have a opera 8.6 installed on my wizard. I am trying to view music videos on my ppc, but cant view it, unit tells me i need to upgrade my softwarwe.
Using Risidoro's RUU_RIsidoro_2.26.10.2_WWE+CF2SP1_G3
with my own cooked rom-thank Faria.
Any help is appreciated.
u can see them in pie? what type of video u try to see? i mean, wmv, mov, avi, mpg?
I can't see the using anything that I've tried. I am not downloading them. Yahoo has a section called Music Launch and a person has the ability to look at videos on there, but my browser says that i need to upgrade my internet explorer.
Does Yahoo advertise this as working on mobile devices? Not every website that works on the PC will work in PIE or Opera Mobile, simply because they can depend on Desktop things. For instance, ActiveX controls which in turn expect a desktop Windows environment or, as is probably the case in Yahoo Music, Windows Media Player on the desktop, which may not support the same featureset of mobile version.
Unless it is advertised as a mobile solution don't expect it to "just work".
I suggest just using Resco radio, or pocket player to stream a link. I listen to my local radio station using a stream.
I forgot the address, but there is a website with radio streams optimized for PPC. Yahoo is heaving on the traffic

Internet radio stations

I have found a radio station online that I would like to be able to listen on my Wizard. Every time I am trying to copy the url in Windows Mobile it tells me that I am missing some decoders. Same error I get if I try to use it on Resco Radio. Can anybody please help me on trying to resolve this issue?
Thank you.
what's the link to the station?

this stream is mp4a and as far as i find, not supported by resco radio.
resco radio only supports mp3 streams, and some aac streams with resco codec-pack.
i have no idea any other player like tcpmp or any else supports mp4a or not.
anyone else might answer this.

FWIW it does play in coreplayer just fine and it might in TCPMP
The best website for online radio is:
http://thestreamcenter.com/pda/
You choose your state, and listen to your local streaming station, at least whoever has a streaming site. Works very well, in fact I've been listening to my local station for almost 4 hours, no drop! Only problem I've found (tried on one station only) is that you can't create a playlist file through the media player. The best thing to do is, once you've found your station of choice, tap and hold on the streaming link and save it as a web favorite. Then once you open that favorite link, I use QuickMenu so it's very easy, it will go to the page and about 3 seconds later the stream will play.
Also, found a Live TV site:

Stream video from PC --> android

since i sold my iphone to buy a desire there has only been one thing that i have missed having. and that is being able to stream video content from my pc over my home wifi network onto my phone. i did this with an app called air video on the iphone. it converted all video while streaming it so i could play my divx videos from pc onto my phone anywhere in range of my wifi network without having to convert them first.
is there anything that lets me do this for android?
Gmote 2.0 will do this for you
Be warned need to have the right player for the file extension.
i.e. cant play .avi files as android doesnt have a good player etc..
I do this using stock apps on my phone, and a simple webserver on the other end.
I've done this with relative ease...
Any modern webserver with directory browsing enabled (IIS7/Apache)
Ability to modify/add content types within the webserver
Local cache of h264 or 3gp media (i.e. streamable)
Browse to movie using any browser on your Desire and stream over WiFi
** Addition **
IIS7 (possible with Apache as well)
ICYBOX IB-NAS4220B (Any SMB/NFS/CIFS NAS Box will work)
Directory browsing enabled
Symbolic Link (Virtual Directory) to NAS box share over LAN
Browse to movie using any browser on your Desire and stream over WiFi
If you need a hand attempting this, chuck me a PM...
p.s. If you're running a windoze box, then you have IIS already.
use TVersity on your computer..and then you can just point your phone to the given IP address..save it as a bookmark in your phones browser... or shortcut

Rockplayer will play AVI
use androstream or vlc stream and convert
Well the best and easiest way i figured out, was making the movie folder accessible to the Network and connect to the folder through the Cifsmanager. As player I use pLayer, which is really the best player for Android.
You could always try VLC-Shares.
It does have a fair amount of setup though.

This might be dead already, but try Vplayer.
As affmalg, CifsPlayer, then browse your network files as if they were on your phone = so simple
Use Opera Unite with Stream Media add-on ... works on Windows and Linux and streams everything as flash ... work really good on my HTC Desire
http://www.plexapp.com/
I liked the look of this and downloaded the PC side of it to realise that all I wanted do was access my photos in a nice graphical interface. Upon setting up this is for movies only...
Unless someone can confirm otherwise, the android app side of it costs approx £2.99
thank you very much. i know im in the wrong place (same goal, gtab 10.1) but gmote worked beautifully. even loaded up the built in subtitles when i played with moboplayer.

works like a charm, it's awesome and simple.
Not sure if this has been recommended. I saw a gadget called Wireless Media Stick that can help you with this.
Go here hsti.com/stick/
The won recently in Electronics Expo and is now running a limited time $20 discount promo on their product. Check them out.
Hello,
Install a samba server on your pc.
On the mobile use cifs and local player like "arcmedia" or my favorite "moboplayer"
Simple and faster. I use it often
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
I'm using VLC (H.264+MP4)+port forwarding+VPlayer for streaming analoge TV channels. Works fine
Gmote 2.0 and the arcMedia player works very well for me. It's a painless install and set up procedure too.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
This might be of interest to some of you. I use DLNA to stream to my phone from my PC and NAS and also to show photos and video from my phone on my TV!

Default media player won't stream large files?

Hi guys,
I'm having some problems trying to play the website iphone anime. It streams just fine on the iphone and the encoding is mp4, so that should be ok. I can only download the files and then play it, I cannot stream it. I've been trying to change the default player but I can't seem top do so. Any our ideas?
Just tried with Meridian and get the error message about "streaming to this device", might be a 1.6 issue.
can somebody test this in 2.1

If you have trouble streaming .mp4 files it may be becasue you have uninstalled mediascape. I found that i couldnt stream .mp4 any more after i uninstalled mediascape & MediaPluginManager.apk, one quick reinstallation using adb later and its all working again.
i never touched mediascape so it isnt that. Try websites like this... http://iphoneanime.net, http://mediamp4.com ,http://iphonehentai.com/ and play any of those listed movies. They are all in mp4 format (great sites by the way for movie buffs who love to watch streaming videos)
I never was able to get them working while i was on 1.6 and after 2.1 the default player still says unable to load file. I then tried Vplayer (awesome, get it from the market) and now i am able to stream 50% of the movies on these websites. I think it has to do with the native streaming support of the base player. it just isnt any good......
