Voice Command 1.5 - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Can anyone tell me how to upgrade to 1.5. I purchased the retail CD version 1.01, and every time I try uninstalling it from my Jam, I get an error message stating that VC cannot be removed and that I need to reset the device. This happens every time I reinstall it. Then when I try to look for it after resetting, it is gone. When I try to then upgrade, an error message pops up stating that either the desktop version is missing or I need to uninstall the earlier version. I don't know what the hell I am doing wrong because I can't seem to find it on my Jam and I know I never removed it from my laptop. Has anyone else had this problem and how do I upgrade?

M$ VC upgrade!
are you uninstalling it from the jam or via active sync?
Coz you need to uninstall from the jam using remove program option in setings, then conect to puta and run the .exe for the upgrade.
It worked for me anyway!
hope it helps

Yes, I tried uninstalling it from settings, and used the remove programs icon. It keeps stating that my VC is running and that I need to do a reset on my device. I check the running programs, and I know that VC is not running, so I don't know why I keep getting an error message when removing. I guess I will use version 1.01 since I know it works fine. I am not even sure what the benefits are of the 1.5 version?

Disable VC on PPC, then soft reset. Remove VC from PPC, then install VC 1.5

MS Voice Command won't install

When I try and install MS Voice Command, I get an error right at the end of the installation. Does anyone else get this problem? Is there a way to fix it?
Many thanks.

yes, install it from active sync instead, remove it, install again until it workes... then update to 1.5.. it workes like a charm..
I did install from Activesync i think. How do you mean? I can't complete the installation, and when i try to remove it, my device hangs. After a soft reset, it seems like the program has been removed.
What's the correct proceedure for installing it?
Cheers
When I try to install it, i'm told to do it to main memory, which I do. Then the installation tells me that i chose to install it to "" instead of main memory. The installation doesn't finish due to an "unrecoverable error", and I can't uninstall it without a restart.
Does anyone else have these problems? How did you get round it?
Has no-one else had this problem?
Yep, I simply loaded v1 then deleted from PDA. Installed v1.5 got the error message but it still loaded. Try loading it a couple of times.
Note it works fine from the SD card too.

When I load V1, i can't seem to uninstal it properly. The uninstall just hangs right at the end. After a soft reset, it doesn't appear in the add/remove programs list, but when i try to install V1.5, it won't because an older version is still on my device.
Any ideas?
why not use the built in voice recog software? voice dialling and application launching works fine
Did you get this resolved? I'm having the exact same problem and cannot get 1.0 completely removed.
Nope, the problem persisted after a hard reset. I can't understand what's going wrong. I have an XDA Mini S if that makes any difference...

Does anyone have MS voice command working on an XDA Mini S?

And if so, did you do anything in particular to make it work? Or install it the same way for any other Wizard?
Cheers
Its working great with out doing a thing....
Hmm. Did you install it to memory card or main memory? Have you unlocked your phone or anything?
I've tried installing it before and after a hard reset and keep getting the same errors. Version 1.0 won't run, and my phone crashes when i try to uninstall it. And I am unable to install version 1.5.
Any ideas?
v1.5 Voice Commander
You can download v1.5 free from here. Install it onto you main device memory, and not storage card
http://buzzdev.net/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,100/func,select/id,37/
You will need to create an account on buzzdev.net - should take 2 mins max
Version 1.0 won't install under WM2005 and you can't uninstall it off your device either. You will have to hard reset to get it off you device and then copy the cab file for 1.5 onto you device and run if from there. That the only way you will get it to work
If I install Voice Command 1.5 from Buzzdev on my XDA mini s, it works fine, but after a soft reset, the device won't boot past the splash screen! ny ideas?
EDIT: Here's me blaming Voice Command, and it was SPB Pocket Plus 3.0.1 causing the problems all along :/
Is there no way I can get rid of the previous version? Even manually deleting the files?
No? A hard reset seems a bit drastic...
Cheers

Help! Can't install or uninstall any apps on WM5

Help is needed. I tried to install PocketStocks this morning. It would not install and now I can not install or delete anything from my 8125. I can run what is on it, but I can not add or remove anything. I have soft reset and tried multiple times to connect by USB but it will not sync. But it will let me "Explore" my hardware.
The Microsoft Active Sync troubleshooter is no help at all.
Any ideas?

Hi i am familiar with pocketstocks but it looks like it buggered your device. What error message came up and how far into the install did it get? Just wondering are there any residual files to remove - check program files and windows\startup and registry if you are used to doing that. What error comes up when you try to install anything? You may need to backup important files and do a hard reset to solve this.
I had tried to install Pocket Financial Analyzer just before it, and that did not complete the install. So when I did the Pocket Stocks, it finished up by saying that PFA install was unsuccessful. I have had this happen before but a soft reset and reinstall usually made it work. I kind of do not think Pocket Stocks is the culprit.
I suspect that there is a corrupted system file, and maybe if I knew which one it was, I could delete it and a soft reset would rebuild the file.
Or like you said, I may have to do a hard reset and start all over. And that is OK. I have done this about five times before, but everything is working so good on the phone right now, that I hesitate to mess that up. I just can't add or delete any programs.
Its so weird, at first the name of my phone would not come up. Then I deleted Active Sync 4.1 and installed AS 4.2 beta. Now I can get the device name to show up, but still the list of installed programs does not show and I can't sync it.

I agree there probably is a corrupt file somewhere - I would do all the checks I said and notification queue for good measure - but it looks like hard reset time. Recommend you invest in spb backup or sprite backup - then it all becomes so easy! Everybody that joins this forum should have to buy one - before entering the forum - lol!
I had SPB Backup trial. But everyone was saying that the ROM upgrades made the backup invalid since there were registry changes that may not correspond with the new registry.
So I did not use it again. I heard that SKTools has a backup built in. NO?
Which one is the best to use?
Thanks

Sktools has a limited backup, so its not that useful. Sprite backup is good as you can use it even with a rom upgrade and is now wm5 compatible.

Error: remove programs..." x was not completely removed

I tried to install ClearVue PDF from the O2 supplied CD and it failed (with error messages in German!) - however when I tried to 'remove programs' I get the above message and ClearVue is still listed under programs. Ditto with Skype. These are the only 2 things I have added since switching my XDa mini s on for the first time. How should I uninstall these properly....so I can start again! Thanks
Well if you want to install it. Try installing it again. Then if fails again download the latest version of it from their website and install that. Hopefully you will have the registration key installed and it will work. Otherwise you will at least have an English error message.
Thanks
I'll try the web site - looks like I can't just download ClearVue - does it all come witin the 'software update' bundle?
No no no! ;-) The Clearvue website http://www.westtek.com/pocketpc/pdf/ As long as the install you have made registered it the trial version will be installed as fully operational.
Thanks
I'll have a go...
Sometimes a program wont delete because its running. make sure you have nothing running before removing it
Is this not an issue with the persistent memory in the Wizard? I've never been able to uninstall things, always comes up with that error, but installing an AKU 2.3 ROM seems to have solved the problem.
I think it's a persistent issue - I've tried every way of uninstalling (from Xda and PC via ActiceSync etc) and ClearVue is still there (and not working). However last comment slightly too techy for me (sorry - just a user....)? Is this an OS upgrade....?
The ROM is an OS upgrade, read all about it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=53954&highlight=
Whether the newer ROM solves the problem, someone better informed than me will have to tell you. It may just be coincidence that I can now uninstall programs properly??

Installed programs do not show up on "remove programs"

Hey,
im using helmis 3.3 with latest radio rom.
I installed some appz after a clean install, then "rebooted" sometimes, continued to install... and then, when i wanted to remove an app, i saw that some applications arent shown in the "remove programs" application.
Any idea?
Same here
I have the same issue, Remove Programs dialog is empty, can only remove software through ActiveSync. I am on a different ROM; UNI.indra.AKU3.3.BETA6.
Funny thing is that it used to work before, but now it does not seem to work anymore. All I did was unhide my extROM and cleared it all out. Then installed Helmi AKU 3.5, and since I had some issues with that I restored Indra's ROM. Now I cannot remove software from the device, have to use ActiveSync only... maybe this helps isolating the issue?
I may install the extended ROM I was using again to see if this helps. Will keep you posted.
What size do you programs have in active sync? Some have a normal size like 1MB but all, which are not seen in the "remove program" tab, have 0KB size..
Some1 else noticed that?
Strange behaviour...
I wanted to get the Remove Programs stuff to work again... so I don't know what I did, but after I reflashed my Rom (Indra) and ran my standard extended ROM (from my provider). Then I did a hard reset and bypassed the extended ROM install... now I see all installed programs again (after installation through ActiveSync) in my Remove Programs option... strange behaviour and I do not know what caused the fix... But just to let you know that during your next Flash Action it may work again...
Fingers crossed...
