I have an 02 XDA Exec & I want to enable it to answer my incoming calls automatically without me pressing any buttons on the handset or my bluetooth Sony Ericsson HBH-610 headset
Infact I have 2 of these now, one of them was replaced because I found myself having to align the screen 5+ times a day and they both do not auto answer
Would someone be kind enough to suggest anything that I may have missed
I've done the following so far:
1. Start
2. Phone
3. Menu
4. Options
5. More
6. Ticked the box to "Answer incoming calls without pressing Talk after 1 rings.
I then pressed ok it carried on ringing until the answerphone kicked in
I did the same procedure again and tried a soft reset with the same results
I've also tried it with & without the bluetooth headset paired to the device
I can't see anything else that I can try (
Regards
James
James you are not alone, I am searching for an answer to the same question.
Its on this board somewhere and I will find it :?
I have been looking for a way to get my SPV M5000 to ring for longer, when it rings I have to run to it and open it as fast as I can before it cuts off to answer machine.
If it's like any other phone I've had with auto-answer, you'll find that the Universal needs to be in a proper car kit for that function to actually do anything, whether you've switched it on or not.
Thats a shame as it is bluetoothed to the Autocom system on my motorbike,
With the phone inside my leathers I know that a call is comeing in as it cuts the music and rings but no answer :-(
I am sure that we will find an answer soon
I am also looing for this feature.
I want to call home and listen if my dogs are barking.
please help!

Call your service provider. They can increase the number of rings from their side, not from yours. That's what I did.
you can extend the phone rings by going into the phone settings, services, select call forwarding, get settings, it will take a second or two, opens a dialogue box where you can change from 15 seconds to 30 seconds.
never missed a call since.

That is not what I am looking for.
I want the phone to answer the call after a certain amount of rings.
That way I can leave one of my Mobile phones at home, call home and listen if my dogs are barking...
This feature can be found in the QTEK 9100 at:
Settings --> Phone --> More --> Rings before answer...
But it does not work!
please help!

Why not train your dogs to answer the phone? lol
Sorry, but this was too good to make a pass. OK, let's find the solution everyone.
wow, i envy the dogs... they get a uni? 1 for each??? sorry, too good to not ride on this too.
hmm.. I have this problem too. By the time, i open my fone, i missed the call already
i am also looking for the software for HP ipaq 6818 cuz in this set
there is no option for automatic pickup in
1. Start
2. Phone
3. Menu
4. Options
5. More
i am also very confused that this future is not available in hp ipaq 6818
or is there any third party software available for automatic pickup
just like in symbian, advance call manger or car manager (for bluetooth) etc???????
I checked my iPAQ hw6515 from work.
It "does" also have this option under "settings --> phone --> more".
But here it says that it is only available when a wired headset is connected.
I think I am going to try this at home tonight.
I will let you guys now if this works...
the solution was found by me in the manual of my iPAQ 6515.
It says there that a wired headphone needs to be connected for this feature to be activated.
I connected tghe headphones to my phone and now I can listen to my dogs, when I am away from home....

Automatic pick up
HI Guys, I ride a bike and the automatic pickup on my V1615 (tytnii) was spot on. WM 6.1 appears to have stripped the facility out. Have tried everything. Is there a way of resurrecting this useful and safe feature? Regards

Ok well we need to pin down moe detail:
Regarding the sound -
1. Has it suddenly stopped?
2. Is it both front and rear speakers (ie no sound in calls as well as rear speaker using say wm player or alarms etc?
3. Did the phone get a knock / fall?
4. and lets not avoid obvious things like the volume setting on the task bar?
Regarding the SIMs
1. are they both for the same provider service?
2. do any error messages or the like appear when turning on the device?
Mike
1. Has it suddenly stopped? yes
2. Is it both front and rear speakers . sound is good in calls no sound with wm player also no beeps when i press a butten
3. Did the phone get a knock / fall?no not that i no off but it is possible
4. and lets not avoid obvious things like the volume setting on the task bar? i did try all the settings
Regarding the SIMs
1. are they both for the same provider service? yes
2. do any error messages or the like appear when turning on the device?the sim card is missing you can still make emergency calls if your service provider supports it

Ok I think it's possible the rear speaker connection as come adrift. This is not uncommon and it just needs pushed back on (normally). To completely rule out a software issue would mean doing a hard reset to be sure.
The choices are:
if you have a warranty then use it - they may require you to hard reset first anyway to confirm there is a problem
if you have no warranty then it's a fairly straight forward fix - remove rear casing 4 screws and push back on the white connector with the red and black wires. (this I can give more info on later if you wish) (I am assuming the speaker is not faulty - this would be rare)
Regarding the SIM: I have no good answer. There are different generations of SIM cards. All I could suggest is getting another one and having the old number swapped to it.
Other people may have alternative suggestions to the SIM issue???
Mike
about the sound issue, I had a similar problem, it wouldn't play sounds at all, except maybe on incoming calls.
I just did a re-flash with a rom and it worked fine.

Yes, though doing a hard reset should also be sufficient to rule out a software issue. Flashing another ROM would be a rather extreme way of doing the same thing - in effect re-setting and re-installing all the software.
Mike
hello i did a hard reset to confirm that it was not a software issue
i do not have a warranty so i took the 4 screws out and found the white connector and it looked ok but i gave it a push anyway put the phone back and got the same thing so then i tryed takeing the connector out and put it back in and still i get no sound i am tinking it might be speaker is faulty i hope not if it is how would i go about getting a new one
ps thanks for the help that i have got from the forum so far

If you can access a multimeter you can test the resistance across the speaker connections (or disconnect the speaker fom that black housing and take it to someone who has). If this possible then you need not be concerned about the reading you get just whether it reads an open circuit when set on a resistance scale.
A very very crude way to test it would be to get a battery 1.5 v max and a couple of wires. Connect the wires to the white block connector and one wire to the battery. Flick the remaining wire across the remaining battery terminal. If you hear a brief click from the speaker then chances are it is ok. Do not hold the wires on for more than a fraction of a second or you burn out the coil.
I do not know a source for the rear speaker but you could contact these people:
http://cnn.cn/shop/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=speaker&image.x=32&image.y=8
or search ebay for spmeone parting out a junked tytn.
Mike
VAriation on "no sound" problem??
My coworker has a new 8525 that stopped playing any sound through the speaker (headset still worked). Through trial and error found that removing battery while 'on' fixes the problem, but not permanently - it returns aftershort period of time. It does not seem likely that a loose connection would act like that (??)
No sound too
about the sound issue, I had a similar problem, it wouldn't play sounds at all, except maybe on incoming calls.
I re-flash with a rom but it didn't help. If i remove battery for some while and plug it the problem dissapear for some while but for some while it came's back and i has no sound. Maby i should change radio rom??

This kind of issue is rarely anything to do with the ROM or Radio. Sound coming and going is normally related to poor connections either at front or rear speakers. Both can become loose, the front speakers spring contacts can get loose if the phone is knocked and the rear speaker push on connector can work loose through a knock or just pushing the stylus in and out.

Q1. Yes you can repair it by yourself. Cost is very cheap too.. check on ebay for part.
Q2. Not difficult at all. Just follow the HTC guide on youtube on opening a HD2. You will need a blue plastic lever and Torque screwdriver.
Tnx for reply!
I read in another forum "bump the phone to a hard thing" and i started a mp3-song and try bumping.....
And YES the speaker started sounding !!! WOWWWW!
I just wonder: Are the speaker broken or only dirt in it? Will it stop again ?
Hard to say...
Just give it a few days and if it get worst or dies just repair it..
Good luck..

Great! Your thread bumped my loudspeaker to live too!
I came along this thread while searching for instructions to revert my phone to stock so that i could send it for repair.
Thx!
Bought me a HD2 from Ebay, and i'm having some trouble with that also.
Tried this bump fix, but it didn't work for me.
How hard should i hit it, and where?
if it doesn't work, where can i get the speaker, that send it to Brazil? eBay?
Thanks!!!
I 2nd the bumping fix! I just wish I didn't hard reset my phone 5 minutes ago! But at least I know it's a speaker issue.
'Bump Fix' was a miracle for me. I just realised today that my speakers are not working after missed many calls as it was not ringing. I just played back some songs and made sure it was a speaker issue and found this thread.
But I was not sure if this was just a joke or how hard I must bump. I just banged it on my sofa and did not work. Then just shake bit hard and I noticed that I heard something ( a part of song). Finally I gave a good 'Tap' on the speaker and it worked. Here are my steps and hope some one will be helped.
1) Play any music file
2) Turn the backside of the phone
3) Spot the speaker (left to the camera)
4) Use your thumb and middle finger (or any fingers to make it as a Carom shot) and hit hard.
5) Its ok to hit hard as long as you use your fingers. But make sure you do not damage the camera.
6) After few (for me 2 shots) shots, you will get your speaker back.
This is a good try before you take any hasty nasty actions like un/reinstall programs/drivers/ROM or do physical repairs.
Cheers !!!
I had the same problem over and over again, so I decided to open the HD2 ( following this info: http://tcrn.ch/pErvIr )
The speaker is connected to the main board with two small springs.
I cleaned the springs a bit, and made them a bit longer (by pulling them).
The sound is now working 100%, but now I've got another problem.. WiFi
As long as I'm next to my AP, WiFi is working (low signal), but as soon as I move away from the AP, no more WiFi (no signal)
I'm sure that it's an antenna problem within the HD2, and will open it up again to see if I can fix it.
Okay.. Fixed it.
The WiFi connector got disconnected when opening the HD2 (see pic)

I experienced my HD2 speaker not working for about 30 minutes, a couple weeks ago, (prior to flashing Android Gingerbread 2.3.7. I just could not get the speaker to work, ( music or speaker phone. After flashing it with Android I have not had anymore speaker problems at all. I never tapped it or shook the phone at all. I wonder could it be a software problem? I have heard complaints about the HD2 speaker stopping to function intermittently. Again mine has not had that issue since I flashed with Android.
nice one I tried it for my friend hd2 and it worked
several days ago i also dismantling my HD2, speaker just won't work, open it and found that springs pin that sticks to the pcb plate was dirty, clean with alcohol and yeah it's working again. Just sharing, it isn't to hard to do and you will had new experience

Hey all,
I'm loving Moto Assist, but I have a small issue with it.
When paired to the bluetooth in my car, the voice control and text to speech features still insist on using the phone speaker, rather than go over bluetooth.
This wouldn't be a problem if not for the volume issue I am having. When the phone is unlocked, I can turn up the volume and the Assist text to speech works great, but when locked, the volume goes down to the point where I can't hear it over engine/tire/road noise and fans in the car.
Is anyone else having this problem?

I've been in that menu. It has to do with BT as a means of detecting if you are driving.
It says it learns over time (but has not learned my car BT yet)
So, once it does learn it, I will be able to select output to it?

Try to install Llama, its an app that can automate things, like turning your volume up to max when a bluetooth device is connected or every time when your screen turns on.
Youtube how to use it if you are not sure, its a really usefull app.
otherwise, you may have to wait for someone to root this awesome phone.
not gonna happen

Motorola in their infinite wisdom did not include the MAP Bluetooth profile in the phone. This means Assist is unlikely to work with any audio system in a car. This doesnt impact hands free dialing, and if your connected to an AUX connection (like streaming music) it could work but there is no way for the phone to send info to interrupt entertainment like radio, sattelite, cd, hdd, etc. No other third party app will work either. The kicker is their support basically said tough luck.
Hmm...
More motivation to hope for a good recovery unlock and decent ROM support...
Sometimes when I silence the phone (vibrate) by holding the volume down button then later turn the sound back on, the phone will not make any sounds at all. No ringer for calls, no sample sounds while browsing the sound picker, etc. until the phone is restarted. Latest build (M) and rooted.
Any ideas?
I'm on the latest build unrooted and don't have any issues. I just tested it now, and I put it on vibrate every day for work and haven't had any issues later. Maybe it's a root app you installed?
Could be. I'm using Super SU installed via Skip's toolkit. I have two, one is still on build L, and I think only the one on build M has the issue. I need to test it more to narrow it down.
I get this too. One way to recover is to tap the icon to ringer, back to vibrate and back to ringer again
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
I'll give that a try.
I'm finding that I have this problem too. Tapping the icon to ringer, then vibrate, then ringer again doesn't seem to work. When press the volume rocker, there is no sound to show the increase/decrease in volume. Is anyone else experiencing this or have any suggestions?
Edit: The phone is unrooted. I've just noticed that when I go to settings and increase the volume on the slider bar, this also has no sound to indicate increase/decreasing in volume.
My one phone is also still doing this. I gave it to my girlfriend, so I don't have a lot of time to troubleshoot it.
I've found that going into sound and notification settings and selecting the ringer through the system sound picker will bring the volume back sometimes.
For God sakes!
On the latest N build/rooted. Just happened to me today. My phone rings when ppl call or text but NO sound within any apps. This is a weird one. Oh, in settings/notifications/ if I slide my finger to adjust any of the three levels it does make noise. I also tried the on/off/on thing, no go.
I might try a data wipe or reflash the kernel maybe even the whole OTA. I've already tried wiping caches and many reboots. If I find something I'll report back. If anyone else finds a fix please post.
Figured it out!
After activating the developer preview option ([holding the gear for a few seconds when the status bar is pulled down]) I turned on all the notification options in the status bar section. I noticed the headphones icon was always on.

So I got a pair of headphones and put the connector in and out , many times till eventually the icon would disappear but come back a sec later. Here's the trick! When you unplug the connector and see the icon disappears -hurry up and click volume up or the power button ---just tap it quick--
Hope this helps anyone who has the same problem. Another note; only stick the headphone jack like half the way in and move it around, you will see when the icon will go off and on.
Final note: get your mind out of the gutter and pass the butter! I no there are many sexual innuendos that can be commented. Keep it clean peep's
If this helped you hit the like button!

hope this helps, there is a bug I'm experiencing sometimes where holding volume down will switch the phone to "do not disturb" mode and you have to go into the options to and turn off "do not disturb" mode.

Thanks, but I haven't had this problem in a while. One of the previous updates must have fixed it.

Sometimes when I silence the phone (vibrate) by holding the volume down button then later turn the sound back on, the phone will not make any sounds at all. No ringer for calls, no sample sounds while browsing the sound picker, etc. until the phone is restarted. Latest build (M) and rooted.
Any ideas?

I have the same issue. Did this happen with only custom mp3 ringtones you made? With my phone it only seems to only happen with my custom mp3 ringtones I made myself.
Over the last few weeks I've been having an odd issue. I'm sitting at my desk and I hear the phone vibrate just once - I pick up the phone and there are no notifications, so I just assume I'm crazy, until today, when I hear the the phone do its vibrate thing - I picked the phone up and noticed that the phone was in Do Not Disturb mode (with the ringer volume slider at the 1/2 position, but grayed out), and I have not had it in that mode since last Friday - I've noticed this before, but I just assumed that I'd forgotten to turn the ringer back up, or had accidentally enabled it.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix? I really cannot afford to lose my job because my phone thinks it's cute to be a troll.
Everything is stock on my device - I've experienced this on the March and now the April update.

No, I do not use one and Android Wear is not installed. =)
Check in Settings - Sound and Notification - Do Not Disturb - Automatic Rules to make sure you do not have any that are active.
It did it again today! =(

I checked - they are all off. I turned them on and switched them back off.
You probably just lower the sound to much. If you reduce the sound to the max and click once more it goes to alarm only mode directly.

As indicated in my first post, the phone is laying on my desk, unmolested, when this happens. I just happen to hear the vibration when the phone enters Do Not Disturb while it's laying on my desk. :silly:

Check in your apps. Do you have two cLock programs? Or is there another program that could be setting the Do Not Disturb function?

No, I just use the stock clock that ships with Android. I also don't have any system utilities apps installed. The only recent apps I've installed are Blue Mail, Funimation, and Miitomo.
Also, wouldn't an app need permission to access do not disturb?
Maybe a case that's too grabby on the vol button?
I have a similar issue. it's because the volume button gets pressed by accident.
I now manually put my phone in priority mode and allow all calls with vibrate only.
I no longer have the issue.
I wear a Lg Urbane II or Moto 360 so I don't want my phone to ring but it needs to vibrate and make the watch aware.

It happened today again, at 5:28 PM (just a few minutes ago) - I was playing music over my bluetooth speaker, and the music stopped for one second then resumed - I picked up the phone off my desk and the damn thing was in Do Not Disturb again - if it was the case, it would have turned down my music too, yes? :crying:
Are you on the dev preview? It happens to me too but I assumed it was me hitting the volume buttons. I don't get calls/texts often so it's not a big deal to me.

Does this happen when you have events in your calendar?
I am experiencing similar issue
Hi all, i have the same 'Do not disturb' turning on automatically at random. So far as what i have noticed it happen, its always after i am done with a Call over Bluetooth (as what i can remember precisely). To add on, I am wearing Moto 360 Gen 2.
I can confirm it's related to Bluetooth calling. Also notice that answering my phone sometimes puts the call through to my zenwatch 2 instead of the phone. It's a new bug to the latest update.

I have this problem all the time (about 30-40 times a day) on my Nexus 6P (Android 7.1.2). I have a Zenwatch 1 and use bluetooth headphones all the time. I'd pay a dear price to find a way prevent this.
FYI... the official bug tracker on this.
Getting the same issue. I thought it was related to tasker. But it was not.
Same problem Don not disturb option automatically get ON
Helo
My 6p automatically gets On do not disturb option..wen i make a call or receive calls..
