Hello,
When i boot up the device, i get the 'today' stuf, and then all links on the left hand side(messages, calls, o2, etc.)
How can i remove all this from main view, and use it like my laptop, just have the start menu and a wallpaper.
I can easily access the things i have on the front via the start menu anyway. Also, when i first got it this morning it asked me to put it into a specific profile, i had no idea what they were but i slelected personal (AFAIR)
Thanks
The only way I was able to do it (not being a genius) was to put the phone in corporate mode. Since I got it back from 'repair' (humph!) I can't even do that.
How do i do that?
Also, whats is the difference between modes, any idea?
Thanks mate
Click on Start menu then program and then choose install type.
I would suggest you go for basic mode if you are on O2 as a network.
The difference between Basic Mode and Corporate mode is that in Basic mode all the settings you need to use O2 are there for you where as in Corporate mode you get absolutely non of the settings or O2 applications.
Hello,
I changed to basic mode but all the 'today' stuff is still there, apart from the 'menu'
How can i just show the 'wallpaper'
Thanks for your reply, appreciated
thanks!
Do you mean the Tasks, Messages, Appointments, Owners Name, etc. ?
If yes, then you need to go into Start | Settings | Personal tab and click the Today icon. Next activate the Items tab. You'll find tick boxes for all the standard items there, as well as for any other applications that install Today plug-ins. Some plug-ins have options, so highlight each one and click the Options button if it's enabled.
HTH.

Recently got my hands on an XDA2, so you could say I am a newcomer to the world of the pocket pc.
One little gripe that I am hoping to sort out is the lack of notification when I have a missed call.
All that shows up is a small handset icon in the top navbar. Whereas all my other alerts display a speech bubble on the screen.
I have tried selecting 'display message on screen' from the notifications settings, but this doesn't change anything.
If anyone has any ideas how I can sort this out I would be grateful
Cheers.
try using MY|PHONE 1.4 plugin ... it's freeware
If you tap the missed call icon, it's supposed to display a notification bubble telling you how many calls you've missed. The bubble also shows a button that will open the Call History window where you can see your missed calls.
Thanks for your responses, i'm trying out Myphone now, I'll see how that goes, then consider hudsonmobile.
Cheers
If you go into Settings, Notifications and Alerts I think it is, you can alter the behaviour of the diodes on the top to notify you of many things.
Doing this, you don't even need look at the screen etc to see if 'something has happened' such as a missed call, sms etc.
I've downloaded and installed myphone 1.4, but after installation nothing shows up on the programs or settings tab. And when I check the install directory through file explorer, there are no files in the myphone directory.
I am presuming that I have downloaded a duff file. Can anyone point me in the direction of download sites for this.
Cheers

I don't think so. I never used that software myself (which means I'm just guessing here), but iirc MyPhone is just a Today Screen plugin. This means, go to Start -> Settings -> Today-> Elements, and check that it's listed there and has a check mark next to it.
Note that the OS has a limit on the number of Today Screen plugins it will display simultaneously. So, if you installed too many, some will simply not be displayed on your Today Screen.
Cheers
Daniel
got it, cheers daniel.
located - start> settings> today> items>
Checked the MYPHONE box and it's on my today screen now.
Once on the today screen, it is possible to tap and hold for additional settings.
Thanks for your reply.
hi everybody.
do you know how to remove (registry?) that light translucent white layer that stay over a picture if we choose for a photo as background?
thank you,
easy one. go to Programs, pictures & Videos, find the picture you want then in the menu bar you will see an option to Set as today wallpaper. Click on it And it will give you transparency level.

No, I intend to remove the transparency. I'd like to see the picture as is, non translucent. I'll choose for a photo that allow me to read the fonts...
so if you follow admisi's steps, then set transparency level to 0%, that is what you get
sure... i never tried to do it from there... sorry.
some more tips, please...
how can i remove programs from the "program" list? i uninstalled etrust antivirus, but it keeps to show in programs...
one more... i found that if i uncheck to put the device in sleep mode "after x minutes" under "energy->advanced" it's really faster, especially after long times of inactivity, but it spend much more battery. do you have the same impression?
thank you,
Not all programs uninstall completely I'm afraid. The items you see in Programs are in
\windows\start menu\programs
For the programs that remain even after they've been uninstalled, you can manually delete the shortcuts by navigating to the above folder and deleting them in File Explorer - or via Windows assuming you're synced to your PC.
I have heard that unticking the power saving options increases performance, but I haven't tried it myself.
Cheers
Ant
thank you, done.
do you think that mantain opened many apps could use up battery?
Guys,
Is there a way to set a picture as your background? IE. so you just have the pic and the start menu rather that the screen split into 2 with icons, etc everywhere!
Cheers,
Dunc
I think what you mean is that you want to get rid of all the Today Items.
So go to Start, Settings, Today....then to the "Items" tab, and untick everything. This will leave you with a blank Today Screen with just Start Menu and your wallpaper.
Perfect thanks! Now how about the left hand menu? Messages, calls, etc.
Turn off The jasjar mobile phone
Hi everybody

Ifyou know and you can ask my question please send the message to [email protected].
HELP ME
Hi,
In the instructions it shows in the radio pannel menu on the bottom right of the screen so you can set up traffic news, alarms, rds etc.
all of these things are not available through the settings menu via the pannel settings menu.
However I have a LIVE button due to vodadumb messing this up.
What i am asking is using SK tools program it gives me an option under category/system tweaks/tuneup and buttons tab it shows the soft key 2 as LIVE and the path as /windows/operaL.exe.
What I would like to know is if the soft key can be altered to enter the setting menu on the radio pannel that i am missing instead of the ****ty LIVE icon.
To get an understanding of what i mean please view
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/dow...6830/XPERIA X1__QG_Panels__EN_1213_0767_3.pdf
I can get to the settings however I cannot get the menu as described in this PDF
(check points 11 and 17 refering to a menu where you can set the alarm)
Can anyone help me or can anyone access this menu even with the custom roms?????
Thank you for your time
It is not your live button messing things up, I have the stock ROM on my phone (the default unbranded settings) and I have a contacts button instead.
As the radio is a today screen I am confused why it claims it would have a settings button at the bottom at all. Today screens usually have the default hotkeys you have configured in Windows, although I can't remember where you configure them.
But in answer to your question sadly I have no clue. I was not aware any of those options existed so I too am curious how you get to them. I had somewhat given the radio panel up as too limited as with any self respecting techie I didn't bother to read the manual.
Radio panel is very disapointing
I have noted the same issue. In the instructions manual I saw a possibility to set an alarm, which, in my understanding, would have made it possible to wake you up with your favorite radio station. But I can not find a way to enter any menu except the settings of the panels. By the way, does anyone know why there is no software in the other panels to make the radio work?
I'm loving my HD2, and I'm very happy with the HTC Sense UI, but there's a couple of things that are really bugging me.
One of them is just stupid.
I'm a developer myself, but a Windows dev, not really mobile, and there's NO WAY ON THIS EARTH that I would EVER make a menu that only had 1 option in it.
With that in mind, why on earth do I have to go to Settings, Menu, and then All Settings, to get the settings menu???
Okay, I understand it going to the settings tab, but why there's a menu titled 'Menu' that only has the 1 option of 'All Settings' in it I'll never know. It would make much more sense to just have 'All Settings' instead of 'Menu'.
Can anyone in-the-know give some pointers on how this might be changed? A CAB file would obviously be preferable , but I'm happy to look into this a bit myself.
I know there's some über geniuses on these forums (suck suck). Can any of you help out?
yeah it's not very ergonomically sound
The 'original' settings shortcut is hidden, you can show it by modifying:
HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo\HideSettings
Change it from 1 to 0, soft reset, then delete the settings shortcut in windows\Start Menu\Programs
edit: more info here (and it seems you can't delete the 'new' settings link)

Cheers mate. Bit annoying that we have to hack a step back to get some basic functionality, but better that than nothing.
Thanks
It is indeed a bit strange...
We can say that it is a kind of "protection"... To avoide people playing with your mobile to be directly in the settings ...
That is the only reason I see so far (maybe not a good one)
Well, what settings do you need that are in the original WM settings screen and not in HTC's 'More -> Settings'?
But yeah, the 'More' menu with only one item is pretty ridiculous indeed.
I have a question how to make guick link on main screen to settings (WM settings not manila settings)?
In BSB tweaks, there's the option to have Windows Settings as on/off. I have mine on, which gives me two "gear" icons - one is Settings, the other is Manilla Settings. The Settings icon takes me straight to the All Settings you mention.
Any good for you?
This is an easy question for some of you guys but I cant solve it,I have installed SPB mobile shell v3.5.5 and need to type in my owner id but can't find where to.I have looked everywhere.Do I have to do a hard reset and use contacts and "Me" then reinstall all my info or is there an easy way
Heres hoping.
Don
Hi Don, I had this exact issue and firstly it is possible, I did it.
Secondly I may not have done it the slickest of methods but at least this gets you there. I've tried to recall two routes depending upon where you are starting from.
a) HTC Sense UI:
If you are still in the original UI (HTC Sense) scroll sideways to the "Setting" tab. Touch the "Menu" softkey (bottom right) then "All Settings". You should then see a selection of icons from which touch "Today". That will get you to the old Today settings. See below for next steps.
b) SPB Mobile shell UI
If you are in this shell instead, hit "Launcher". You should now see an icon labled "Settings" (else swipe sideways to the second page to see it). Hit that takes you to a screen with more icons including one for "Today" with a cogwheel on the top of it. Hit that takes you to the old Today settings. Now see below.
Today Settings
Once here. Hit the "Items" tab. Remove any tick on the "HTC Sense" option (else the originally Today Screen won't appear later) and then tick the "Owner Info" option (and any others you fancy). Click on "OK" should now get you back to the old Today screen with the "Owner Info" today plugin showing. It can then be selected and the necessary info add. You can then go back into the today settings and re-tick the HTC Sense item if you want the original UI back and not the Today screen. Personally I use the SPB shell and the today screen rather than the HTC Sense.
I did this a long time ago so my recall may be a bit fuzzy for example; if the "Owner Info" isn't visible in the list of Items in the Today settings (it may not be) then you'll have to go into a reg editor (if you are comfortable doing such things) and navigate to :
[Mobile Device\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\]
Then ensure that the key "Owner Info" is present (add if necessary) and enable it (disabling "HTC Sense" at the same time as it seems to overide any other selection). If the key is missing (or you don't have a reg editor) and you need help at this level just drop me a line and I'll post a copy of my settings and suggest a few methods of accessing your registry.
Good luck.
Anybody found an easir way?
Regards - Mallow1
settings - menu - all settings - personal - owner
Sam,
Thanks but my phone doesn't have "owner" at the end of your sequence. I suspect Don is having the same issue (hence me originally having to go into the reg to get access to it to fix mine as nothing obvious was accessible). FYI this is independent of how I get there (through HTC Sense, SPB Shell etc).
Regards - Mallow1
PS I have an unlocked HD2 (none carrier specific) which looks to have originally been packaged for the German market (I'm in the UK and bought it online)
Just to add ti the conversation, my HD2 does not have the Owner when Igo to Personal either.
Ahh course, my mistake.
Hints tips reg tweaks sticky in Q&A section, tip 5 to unhide that option kindly hidden by HTC.
Thanks Mallow1 That did it,thank you all very much.I went to Today ,items and ticked HTC sense that gave me the chance to go to contacts and add the Me details.
