I, stupidly, wanted to see if Pocket Controller video acceleration would have any beneficial effect on my Universal, I selected the "test" mode and soft resetted the device.
Pocket Controller informed me that if the 'acceleration' didn't work another soft reset would return my device back to it's original state. Well I've tried probably 30 soft resets and my Universal simply hangs with my o2 screen showing.
A look at their website and there's a mention that the video acceleration is not supported in WM5 but no mention about how to fix it if it is enabled.
Can anyone give me some help as to how to prevent my Universal from trying to use Pocket Controllers video driver without me having to hard-reset.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I tried it on my old JAM and a hard reset fixed it. Hope you find a better answer than that.
Hard Reset be thou my savior.
At least this serves as a warning to others. Don't try it.
Typical! I tried this yesterday, and I had to hard reset mine yesterday afternoon, too.
If only I'd been 24 hours slower, I would have seen this thread and wouldn't have bothered!!

Hi all,
I'm thinking of buying DotPocket (seehttp://www.dotpocket.com/ ). I was wondering if someone has any experience with this util?
I read somewhere that it hard resets the XDA2 and because I have installed a lot of programs I kind of worried to try the trialversion.
Thanks,
JeDa
not sure if you read it but some people here seem to have exp with the program

I was using Nyditot's virtual display utility. I stopped after I finished a particular project but it worked OK for me . Actually does more than ladscape as you can alter resolution as well.
Ed
don't use dotpocket; it caused my unit to hang and no amount of soft resets did the trick. i had to do a hard reset to get rid of it. :x
on nyditot; so-so but causes some hangs requiring soft resets. seems to be more stable but still a little funky trying to get the right resolution to work with the right programs (like the phone app).
cheers

Hi everybody,
I have been trying out various softwares (install/uninstall) on Jasjar and was planning to do a hard reset to go back to original factory settings (like a format and complete reinstall WinXP on my desktop PC) and only install the selected few I liked and need.
Reading these threads for hours gave me the hint the hard reset is not going to do that for me. I am still a little confused; would somebody please describe what HR is on a Jasjar?
If not a HR is what I am looking for, how should I clean up all the tracks of junk (former programs that I deleted or tried to delete, but got an error message).
(Please, be easy on me and detailed, I am not a tech geek, have not even gone into registry yet…)
Thank you for your help!
IZ
A Hard Reset will do exactly what you want. As long as you haven't been playing silly buggers creating your own ext.rom.. -- given that you haven't touched the registry yet, I doubt you have..
Hold down all the required buttons, and press the Reset button at the back, wait 20 mins for it to rebuild itself, and you'll have a nice fresh Jasjar ready to go.
The only thing you may be confusing it with is a Soft Reset, and that's literally like turning your PC off. Nothing is gone, no information lost, it just reboots it.
Hi I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I love my S200 it is perfect in every way, just lately after installing mNotes though i have had numerous problems, which seem to be only cured temporally by hard resetting the device.
I reset the device then within the next 1- 2 days I have lost my Bluetooth connection, it all seems OK but you cannot turn it on, when you click OK and go back and check both the Bluetooth on and discoverable boxes have had the crosses removed.
This problems also seems to extend to the sound when you turn it up, the phone turns it down.
And activesync just seems to stop working requiring a hard reset.
It almost like even after hard resetting the phone keeps hold of some of the old settings, is there a way of making it factory default apart from a hard reset, ie a HARD HARD reset ?
I need to get the mNotes working to stop my company forcing me to have a blackberry, but at this rate my device is hard rest almost every 24hrs.
Also how the hell can you back the device up now, in the old Activesysnc you had the option but now its gone !!!
Here’s hoping some one has the answer.
Cheers
Could you please tell how you hard reset your device? What version is your ROM?
I hard reset the device by pressing in both camera and record buttons and then pressing the stylus into the hole in the bottom, hold the record button in and let the other out, it then gives you the choice press sned to reset or any other button to escape.
The Rom is 2.9.7.24 WWE
Date 2/9/06
Radio 02.07.20Protocol 413.1.03
Ext rom 2.9.7.106
Cheers
It's quite unlikely that any settings from installed programs could remain after a hard reset.
After the next hard reset, I would try to use the phone without any program installation to make sure that it works under its default settings. If problems come back, then you may have a defective device and would have to return it back to your customer support. If there is no problem I would then try to install program one by one to make it clear which program causes the problem. Good luck!
Bluetooth not working
Also seem to have the same sort of problem.
Bluetooth works ok for several days and then for no reason refuses to connect to my bluetooth car kit and have to do a hard reset and start agn.
This has happened several times now.
Device is UK Orange M600 Standard rom etc.
Was wondering if to flash with a different rom maybe i-mate to see if this cures it. any ideas anyone.

This is what I have done for the last 6-7 days, it is now becoming very frustrating. Even my old MDA did not require this much attention.
Now thinking about putting in the latest Dopod Rom.
Hard reset last night , no bluetooth now and Activsysnc no longer works.
So I supose its another h-reset or an upgrade ??????
Agree with you to try to upgrade it to the most recent Dopod 818Pro ROM (ROM version: 2.15.13.27 WWE). I have been using this new ROM for a while without any serious problems.
Hello Everyone,
I have a Cingular 8125 with the original 2.25ROM. Every once in a while (about once a day), when I try to press the power button to return my phone from standby, the screen will not light. The green LED light showing that the phone is powered on still keeps blinking, but the screen will not turn on, and I have to soft reset my phone with the reset button on the side, or remove the battery in orer to get my phone back working.
I have done a hard reset and this problem has not changed. Does anyone have this problem, or seen a fix for it? I am thinking it might be a problem with some of the reg tweaks I have done, or with a program.
The problem programs I am thinking may be contributing to this are Wisbar Advance due to memory leaks, or PPCProfilesPRO. The only real reg tweaks I have done are Molski's Customizing tweaks and the A2DP hack. Could it be a hardware issue? Any help would be much appriciated.
Thanks.
Sorry I cannot help more, but I remember Wisbar Advance doing that to my h6315 WM2003 based device. Then again, it would sometimes do it on it's own too (but very rarely w/o W.A). I hacked it to make A2DP work, and it did not cause such problems on it... but again, totally different device, but similar CPU.
Hi,
seems I have nailed down one situation, when trion refused to boot through. Whenever I have WLAN active and the system hangs (happened last time today when trying to start up avantgo) its very likely the xda won't boot correctly after soft reset.
Usually I solved it by going to bootloader and softreset again. Today this didn't help, also booting with and without SIM/battery in all combinations didn't help.
So I connected the phone in bootloader mode and sent some commands via mtty.
Don't know why, but this helped the phone to boot again. Weird.
Now - is there a way to switch off WLAN via mtty in case it happens again?
Dirk
P.S.: never give up when the xda hangs, I refuse to use a hard reset (unfortunately it required xx reboot trials and 1 hour of my time...)
Hi,
still there are occasions, where my TyTN hangs at Windows Mobile screen while booting. I couldn't find any system behind it...
I had several suspicions:
- HTweakC while Power Saver Tweak was enabled,
- pBar, when being set to automatically load,
In both cases, removing this options seemed to help, but shortly after that the hangs came up again.
Did anybody else also experience frequently hangs while booting and could isolate some reasons for that?
P.S.:
I know some of the hangs are related with today plugins. The only I have currently is Birthdays 1.2.10. I just removed this as well, but the XDA seems to hang after the reboot again.
How likely are hangs at bootup time hardware related?
Is it a common problem with AKU2.3 and could an upgrade to 3.3 help?
I just don't want to mess around and waste a lot of time - would you suggest to send it in for repair?
(My operator claims, that I should do a hard reset. After that everything is fine. But why should I use an XDA without adding any more program and risking that behaviour?)

I have only ever had one hang on boot up. I have AKU 2.3. Used to get lots of freezing at other times, but it appears I have cured all that and it has settled down very nicely. I also have several today plugins spread over multiple desktops using WAD.
I just wonder (and I am no expert here) whether you may have a little corruption in boot up files. Have you actually tried a hard reset yet?
Having learned several lessons I took mine back to scratch with a hard reset and used SPB backup at each stage as I reloaded software. This way I am able to return to a nicely working setup (within 5 minutes) if I load something duff along the way.

Yep, did a hard reset and installed some programs. I will try to adopt your way of adding programs. Even if it takes a lot of extra time. Now I need at least 5-6 soft resets, until one works.
However - did anyone ever notice, that sometimes between the operator splash screen and windows mobile splash screen, there is a scrambled splash screen with vertical lines in windows mobile splash screen colors?

Do I understand you correctly - even after hard reset you still need several soft reset attempts to get it going?

Hi,
no... if its "O2 virgin" ROM its working.
okay, seems to answer my question regarding HW problem. It seems not to be one.
This is the SW I then installed (maybe in different order):
- Avantgo
- Flashplayer 7
- tcpmp
- SPB Gprs monitor (came with the hardware)
- Clearvue PDF viewer (came with the hardware)
- Birthdays plugin
- HTweakC
- SK Tools
- pBar
I removed battery and communication manager Icon from frontscreen with HTweakC and tried the battery saving tweak. More I can't remember.
I will pay attention now with setting it up again. Did some of the above ring a bell?

Nothing obvious but I wonder about pbar given it appears to monitor a lot of actions and will load at start up.
I'd also do the following with backups before and after. It's a pain doing some of this from scratch if things go pear shaped.
