Anyone knows this dialer skin/program - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hi,
I found this image off a K-JAM with the beuatifull dialer. Since there is a photo within the skin I dount that it's the default WM5 dailer, it might be a third party dialer cause I don't think this would be skinnable with the default dialer.

It's a mockup used in the Magneto presentations by Microsoft.
I talk about it here:

but if you search for "halo skin" you'll find some discussions.

Thanks. I guess I got some reading to do then

Thats cool... but I bet its not funcional..

I downloaded the WM5 SDK and the emulator of WM5 has that dialer skin. And that is what i was expecteing, i really want this skin!!

with the new ETEN M600 this skin can be installed as a separated file in the extende rom, so if someone could upload this file from the M600 extended rom, i think it will be easily installed on any ppc

Just came across this post and thought I would show some Wizard users this COOL phone pad (IMO if you dont use smart dial then this is SOOOOO much better, does not seam to work with smart dial but I only tested on an emulator)
Heres some pics.
I also uploaded the cab. You have to make sure you dotn have smart dial installed (installed by default from EXT rom on most of these phones. I installed smart dial after the ETEN skin and I got that wierd one you see above. I dotn know what will happen if you install ETEN after smart dial.
REMOVED THIS LINK BECAUSE OF CONFUSION, YOU HAVE TO LOG IN TO SEE THE DOWNLOAD LINK
One of the fun things about this is you can change the color of the skin in photoshop in about 5 min tops. The buttons are all BMP's and are very easy to change the hue and make it a different color. I ran a batch job in PS to change the hue to blue (last pic) to me just a few min.
I am going to upload a ZIP with the default orange and a grey (grey is a good base for a hue change)
Have fun; Lew

Hi there, Where can I get the blue color dialer skin? and How do I install it ?
Thanks

How do I remove smart dialler from my htc wizard so that I can use this skin

Just installed it on my HTC Wizard with latest Qtek Rom, works perfect after a soft-reset.

I´m also intressed in getting hold of the blue skin...
Please

Hi, nice work!
Can you upload also the blue skin please? In which folder do I have to put all the buttons BMP files?
Thanks

Just unzip it and run the cab file from your PPC.

There's no CAB in that archive...
I'm interested in this too - the standard dialer's buttons are way too small for my fingers.

Unzip it!!
and you will see the CAB file

i have just installed the blue theme on my 9100 which had smart dialer working, it has installed and displayed correctly, however smart dialer no longer works.

When I unzip it, I don't see a CAB file, I see a huge list of files like:
00CLG_IN.002
0CLG_OUT.004
0ETPHONE.001
0SPD_LST.058
But there's no CAB.
I'm on a Mac if that makes a difference.

@Paulrus
The file you are trying to extract IS the CAB file, just transfer it to your device and install it.
@ Everybody else
Where can I change the colors, in other words, how can I change between the Orange and Grey theme, where are these files on my device?

Ok - then the file posted is not a .zip file it's a .cab file because that's the file I'm unzipping.
Thanks for clarifying that!
EDIT: Ok - this is a Mac thing. Stuffit not only expands the zip file, but also expands the cab file at the same time. So it looks like the cab files are coming from the zip.

Project: Green Caterpillar

Well...
the blue Today Screen and color scheme is very cool,
the guava theme is pretty too...
why not something in green?
I just started Project: Green Catapillar.
Besides purposes of green theme in Today Screen, Dial Pad, and other colors in Windows Mobile, I increased the size of Today Screen. In my version it will hide taskbar completely, but only when you review Today Screen. When you open any other application or window, the taskbar will back. Popup menu allows you to change the size and get options.
Please don't ask me, where you can download files. When I finish this project, I will publish even beta version here, in this forum for free.

When will it be released? U know how eager the forum is to try new things
any word on this ??
pls keep us posted man

Make sure to add the smart dialer screen in there!!
installers
The first installers I can share:
Boot Screen:
the second one "Windows Mobile" changed to green hue.
Today Screen Theme:
portrait, landscape and square orientations
New Phone Dialer:
you have to have the E-TEN M600 skin dialer installed on your device, before you start my replacement. GreenCatapillar will only replace images. I'm sure you can find it in the Internet easily.
Smart Dialer:
not included yet.
Today Screen plugin:
is developing already
Please note: after installation it will do soft-reset immediatelly.
Wow that theme looks good, and the today plug-in looks AMAZING. That's exactly what I've been looking for.. I cant wait until it's released.
I didnt know you guys figured out how to change the incoming caller screen.. maybe we can now finally have that Halo theme microsoft showed off with WM5?
That would be cool
Has anyone installed this theme on a Qtek 9100? Please post
how to customize Incoming Phone...
E-TEN M600 dialer plugin does it. It allows you to use background image in the Incoming Phone popup message. Files: PcvCalertBkP.bmp PcvCalertBkL.bmp are in \Windows directory.
But: becasue hsese files are system's files loaded on startup, you cannot replace these files manually. you have to create certified installer or .cab file and proccess it in this way. This means, we cannot change colors and backgrounds dynamically, without soft-reset.
More: the above plugin define some additional fonts, text and areas, but I have no idea how to change it. If I tried to move the large "Incoming call" text, it was done but I lost CallerID picture in this time. If I tried to move the counter of taliing time more to the left side of screen (now it's on the center), I lost caller's picture too.
...will investigate more.
any way: has anybody any SDK or descriptions how to create/compile such plugin like M600?

Hi JGUI, very good work !
But I can't find E-TEN M600 skin dialer in the net...
Could you suggest a link, if you have ?
Thanks
I just downloaded this theme to my Qtek 9100. Honestly, this is the best looking theme out there. I would still like to have that eten dialer skin. That would truly be the bomb.
Great work JGUI. I'm surprised this post hasn't had more responses.
This skin seems to be perfect, i wish there was a user friendly program out there that could allow people to truely modify a theme like this without having to sit for hours tweaking.
Great work and thank you for your time

any news ?

Is there a basic large PHONE pad available ?

Just wondering if there is a very basic phone pad skin available for the M3100...
Just a single line for the number, maybe 2 if the number is too long so the digits don't get too small...
Large buttons for numbers, no video buttons etc just numbers, no need for the TALK/END sort of stuff as the hardware green/red buttons work fine..
Just looking for something that people with wide fingers can use without a stylus....
If there isn't one, what do I need to do to create one ??
Searched the forum but can't really find anything of use on the subject.
Many thanks Phil
I found that the vista theme on Paulya.com worked wonders for this:
http://www.paulya.com/etenskins.htm
http://www.paulya.com/Projects/Eten_Skins/Vista/Vista_Trans/Vista_Trans_Origin.zip
I am tempted to go back to this dialer as it was so good on my Wizard - just lacks a video button.
Hi, Thanks for that.... Managed to get the skin to work that is included with the eten dialer... I also downloaded the eten_ans etc .zip and put it in the windows dir on the phone after extracting it.. can't seem to find how to enable it (am I thick or something... Don't answer that !!)
The only thing I didn't do was use active sync... I copied the extracted file to my memory card then copied them over from that as the PC I'm at, at the moment doesn't run activesync 4 or higher (horrible win98 se machine..
Any comments much appreciated
Phil
I jast ran the cab file from my storage card and it installed perfectly. I did have diffulculty installing additional skins though.
Hi Phil,
There is a CAB on the FTP here which gives you the phonepad software EXACTLY like in older HTC phones: ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hermes/Tools_and_Programs/Phone Pad - English Only.CAB
I installed it and it's great!

Hi sorry to be thick
ok i downloaded the buzzdev.net qvga dialer
but how does one install it. Do i just run the cab via activesync or run it on the vario2 or what sorry about the stupid questions
also i download the splash screen stuff from there too how do i make that appear instead of the default tmobile one when starting up
thanks
JEREMY
Just stick it onto your device, tap it to load it, install and then when prompted reboot (just hit OK and it'll do it) - the PIN entry screen remains the same, but the main dialer screen changes.
It looks very nice, and I'd use it all the time - except there's no way to use the T9 dialing feature which the regular dialer offers (where you can just type the name of the person you wish to call and it shows all valid entries from the list, so e.g. if I wanted to call my Mum - whose entry is Mum, ironically - I'd type 6-8-6 and then hit Dial). It's quite sad to see that this feature is missing, probably for a good reason as it does cause a fair bit of slowdown on my phone - more than on my old Alpine! - but I still use it all the time and I'm going to have to uninstall the skin because I really neeeeeeeeed that feature. :/
ok if I wanted to get the original tmobile dialer back then all I would have to do is uninstall it then? cool
how would I install the splash screen then?
Jeremy
Vijay55,
I installed it OK, the large buttons are awesome, however I have had the following problems:
1) DTMF (Tones) don't work properley when accessing voice mail etc (UK T-mobile) or any other press x application
2) Jog Dialer not active
3) No Smart dialling
Am I doing anything wrong?
Have had to pull it off becasue of the DTMF problem, I've installed it, removed it, rebooted, changed the options etc, nothing seems to fix it.
Fixed it!!
Though I am now using the Eten dialler with smart dial support and one of Paulya's Dark Blue Glass skins.
Editing the registry and setting the value to 0, then soft reboot and dtmf tones are working.
Setting it to 0 wasn't the obvious choice, and previously I hadn't soft rebooted.
Found the following from dhushy in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276700
Worked it out. For anyone with a similar problem, use the registry editor to locate the following key:
HKLM,"Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL","EnableDTMFSupport",0x0 0010001,1
Change the value from 1 to a 0 and Bob's yer Uncle (for non-British readers that means everything will be cushty - see Only Fools and Horses for a contextual translation)
Did this and I was able to manipulate my voicemail messages as normal.

May be two reasons:
1.I remember that the Rom of Cingular Branded not include 3G function!
Roms such as Dopod 838pro Asia WWE can surely support!
solution: flash another rom that has 3G function
2.Maybe you installed too much different layout of dialpad skin, the original phcanrc.dll and the original registry was changed.
solution: uninstalled the previous skins and change to original registry & original phcanrc.dll
someone said that the corner is too dark to see the "handfree" icon, I make it lighter in this version!

Method 1.The most easy but painful way: "hard reset it" (of cause backup first)
Method 2. Uninstall the previous skins first
Copy the the original phcanrc.dll to the folder "windows/"
If you did not do the "uninstall" procedure, use resco registry to change the registry altered by the other skins
Here is original phcanrc.dll I uploaded, you need to decompress it.

Dialer Button? Can you elaborate on which button?
So far as I can tell, everything works fine on my Wing.
And SmartDial still works!!
This is basically the dialpad another member pulled from the Touch. I just reworked all of the graphics...
On a side note, if anyone wants a different background and can attach a 320x240 and 240x320 version of it, I'll
make it for you...

I tried this style of dialpad before. I love the preview/SmartDial window, but I can't use it because of this. Besides, this design makes much better use of the keypad space, I think. It's much easier to dial and operate one-handed.
Just to clarify, this dialpad is based on the HTC Touch dialpad which is the same layout I presented, just with different graphics.
=
Which leads me back to tom_codon's comment... Are you referring to the the green 'talk' button? If so why do you need this? My device has a hardware key to start and end a call... therefore making the onscreen button wasted space. Are there some devices that don't have hard keys for this?
If your device has a hardware button for this function, why do you need an onscreen soft button?
Ryan
For some reason, on my herald p4350, it doesn't look right. When I installed, the background and graphics were either missing or distorted. Before I installed it, I had the (or a) generic dialpad (black buttons/white background with HTC emblem).

Hmmm... Hopefully this doesn't work on Wings only. What OS do you have?
Did the keypad layout look the same as the default I displayed?
Did you copy all of the images in the zip to your Windows directory (overwriting what was already there)?
What images are missing?
Which are distorted?
Were you able to revert back to your default?
I've re-uploaded the image zip file with a couple changes. If you don't mind, please try it again and let me know!
Before anyone tries this, make sure you have a backup dialpad you can fall back on just in case.

I have exactly the same problem when trying to use any dialpad! Did you find a solution for this?
I have the same problem, I have HTC p4350, its all messed up, The "frames" of the dialerbuttons are visible, but I see only w/e is running in the background (If I have IE running, I see the contents of the browser instead of the dialer buttons) I can press the buttons, and when I do the numbers I press shows up....but cant have it that way...I removed the dialer without any problem using uninstall function..
wish anyone could get it to work
I haven't found a solution to this. It might be because our default dialpad is black and white. For some reason, my other device (ipaq 6828 - wm5) has the green dialpad as default. I have no problems installing and using other dialpad on that. I think as long I have this black and white dialpad as default on my htc, I will continue to have this problem of installing other dialpads. This might apply to many of us here as well.

Can you post a screenshot of your default dialpad, and the result with mine? You'll need a screen capture program like MagicSS to do it. Click on the 'Ficher CAB ARM' link to download a cab to your device, or use the Windows installer link just above it. Then map it to a button, go to the dialpad, and press the button. It will ask you where to save the bmp, then you can upload it here so I can try and figure out what's going on.
Also, if you just install the Touch dialpad without copying my images, does it work ok?
Ryan

here is the dialpad with the new dialpad:
here is the one i use now (black something):
the one I use is a skinned one, but the result with the new dialpad is the same if I try install it on a new installed rom with original dialpad..
Thank you itje,
Ryan, itje's screen captures are exact depictions of my phone when I attempt to use new dialpad. For now, I'm using the default green HTC dialpad. Hopefully there will be a solution soon. Thanks again itje and Ryan for the screen capture app.

Sorry to venture a little off topic guys, but does anybody know of a tutorial for creating my own dialpad?
has anybody found a solution to this?
Seems as if alot of people are experiencing this problem. One thing I have noticed with alot of the new dialpad skins is that the file format is different compared to the stock WM skins. The old skins are in .bmp format I believe, and the new ones seem to be in .png . Taking a wile guess but maybe this has something to do with it.....
wm5 vs wm6
Hey guys, sorry I haven't gotten back to you; for some reason I didn't get any email notifications until today...?
Anyhow, I can say for sure that the problems you guys are experiencing are due to the transparency used in my dialpad.
As for why it's a problem for some and not others... Perhaps it's device specific, or more likely as MisterSosa said it's WM5 vs. WM6.
itje and robosiris, are you on WM5 or WM6?
BTW, I have another thread with newer versions here.

Comm Manager Skin Creation

I tried to create my own Comm Manager skin.
I'm not very used to programming but i'm very cabable in edit existing Programs, so i chosed to take Schaps Black Comm Manager to start from.
First i did extract the cab File, and used Reshacker to open the dll File. I replased the Wallpaper Images and then recreated the cab Installation File with ZipStar (which served me well before in creating cabs).
The Problem is, that the Installation aborts at approx 2/3 with an Security Warning (that never happend before with my other Install Files)
I dont have a clue how to fix that.
Additional Information:
I used Pics with exakt the same Size and File format as the original ones. (bmp 8bit and "fixed colors"I downt know the exact term in english)
I use the original Vodafone WM 6 rom
I want that Wallpaper (yes i know that this is a jpg and not the exakt size)

second step would be to replace the buttons but i wont try befor i get the first thing working.
So i hope someone could get me in the right direction.
And sorry for my bad english
I know what you did wrong Before editing any .dll or .exe, you need to uncertify it, edit it, save it and re certify it, otherwise they won't work. Search for "unsigner" and "msigner"
I'll have a try thnx so far
It worked!
Thnx...
It doesnt really look like i want it, but i think that could be worked out
Glad I could help

Except that with this walpaper it would not work because the black color will appear in transparent, I have already tried with this walpaper see my creations on this site http://forum.actualitemobile.com/index.php?topic=20.0

I thought that this effect was my mistake by making a not matching "Color Selection", for i used the standard "System (Windows)" Color Table with 256 Colors at my first try.
However, there has to be a key that defines black=transparent somewhere, as there is a key that defines pink=transparent in other Programs. I hope to find that somewhere in the Installation Files and i hope it is not burried somewhere deep in the Regestry or in other Windows System Files.
But i dont had the opportunity to try so far, because i had to work in the meanwhile. But i'll try for shure tomorrow in the evening after my work.
Your Skins are very good work btw. But i think i'll not angry you by saying: If you want something to be the way you really want it, you have to make it by your own ( or find someone doing it for you ).
I quite agree with you, I am just like you, when you want it can
I finally managed to make the skin, but it looks awful due to the 256 color restriction. I made everything in trying to adjust the picture settings and the color table (the shading effects are to uneaven).
BTW:
I didn't made it possible to display the true black color. But it is possible to make a "selektive color correction". A reduction of 1%-2% black is enough to get it displayed and nowbody will be able to notice that in the picture.
Ok i have a first concept. As u can see i have not changed the buttons correctly, but it gives an first impression how it would look like when finished.
This is a real Screenshot from my device:
I'll continue on it later, when i come back from my work.
Ok it is almost done.
Here is a new Picture of my Comm Manager.
Landscape has still to come and only the butons shown are supportet yet.
what is the cab from have yu begin?
