Well...
the blue Today Screen and color scheme is very cool,
the guava theme is pretty too...
why not something in green?
I just started Project: Green Catapillar.
Besides purposes of green theme in Today Screen, Dial Pad, and other colors in Windows Mobile, I increased the size of Today Screen. In my version it will hide taskbar completely, but only when you review Today Screen. When you open any other application or window, the taskbar will back. Popup menu allows you to change the size and get options.
Please don't ask me, where you can download files. When I finish this project, I will publish even beta version here, in this forum for free.

current status of this project:
hmm looks interesting..can't wait
When will it be released? U know how eager the forum is to try new things
any word on this ??
pls keep us posted man

Make sure to add the smart dialer screen in there!!
installers
The first installers I can share:
Boot Screen:
the second one "Windows Mobile" changed to green hue.
Today Screen Theme:
portrait, landscape and square orientations
New Phone Dialer:
you have to have the E-TEN M600 skin dialer installed on your device, before you start my replacement. GreenCatapillar will only replace images. I'm sure you can find it in the Internet easily.
Smart Dialer:
not included yet.
Today Screen plugin:
is developing already
Please note: after installation it will do soft-reset immediatelly.
Wow that theme looks good, and the today plug-in looks AMAZING. That's exactly what I've been looking for.. I cant wait until it's released.
I didnt know you guys figured out how to change the incoming caller screen.. maybe we can now finally have that Halo theme microsoft showed off with WM5?
That would be cool
Has anyone installed this theme on a Qtek 9100? Please post
how to customize Incoming Phone...
E-TEN M600 dialer plugin does it. It allows you to use background image in the Incoming Phone popup message. Files: PcvCalertBkP.bmp PcvCalertBkL.bmp are in \Windows directory.
But: becasue hsese files are system's files loaded on startup, you cannot replace these files manually. you have to create certified installer or .cab file and proccess it in this way. This means, we cannot change colors and backgrounds dynamically, without soft-reset.
More: the above plugin define some additional fonts, text and areas, but I have no idea how to change it. If I tried to move the large "Incoming call" text, it was done but I lost CallerID picture in this time. If I tried to move the counter of taliing time more to the left side of screen (now it's on the center), I lost caller's picture too.
...will investigate more.
any way: has anybody any SDK or descriptions how to create/compile such plugin like M600?

Hi JGUI, very good work !
But I can't find E-TEN M600 skin dialer in the net...
Could you suggest a link, if you have ?
Thanks :wink:
I just downloaded this theme to my Qtek 9100. Honestly, this is the best looking theme out there. I would still like to have that eten dialer skin. That would truly be the bomb.
Great work JGUI. I'm surprised this post hasn't had more responses.
This skin seems to be perfect, i wish there was a user friendly program out there that could allow people to truely modify a theme like this without having to sit for hours tweaking.
Great work and thank you for your time
Ideed very god job JGUI, it is one of the best skins, i like it a lot

Hi,
I recently picked up an MDA Pro and am pretty happy with it, but there are a couple of things on the Today screen that I'd like to get rid of and can't find out how.
The bottom of the screen has a bar for the softkeys (currently says 'Messages' and 'Calendar') that's a waste of space, and likewise just above that there is a toolbar with battery status/wireless manager/screen rotate that I'd like to ditch. Any ideas how to do this?
Separately, are there any today plugins that give you the ability to crush down the # of messages and tasks to a single line rather than the current individual items?
Cheers,
Jim.
I don't use WM2005, however, have a look for my program, TodayToggle (which is not entirely WM2005 compatible: it doesn't hide the softbutton menu bar; I've purposely NOT tried to hide it because it's there for a reason. Would it be useful to hide it? When I get WM2005 I'll think about it).
For better control of task and alarms etc, look into alarmtoday by pocketmax. 3rd plugin down here:

vijay, u have some AWESOME looking features going on there. Please can you tell us what you're using for:
- What is giving you all the icons in the top bar?
- Which app are you using for the calendar summary?
- What is the second-last plugin and what does it do?
craigiecraigie4 - have a look at the second post here for some shots of my setup http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=26468
The bar at the top is just PhoneAlarm using a skin I made, and using a hack I made called ToggleToday. Both are described in detail here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=27331
Toggletoday will minimise the Startbar to a tiny 2 pixel high bar, and then allow your today screen to show through. So you get phonealarm on every page. It should work in QVGA on the Universal, although I'll be sorting out VGA and full WM2005 support when I get a WM2005 device (shortly I hope).
The second to last plugin is claunch set up with shortcuts to dial or sms my better half - they use tools I wrote called VJSMS and VJDialer, both available in the development forum; http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=26972.
I use a dual sim, so claunch is also set to allow me to switch sims (not visible on screen) - the plugin after phonealarm is a plugin i wrote to show my current operator, o2 UK and Orange UK.
The calendar summary is using AlarmToday by Pocketmax (phonealarm guy) but hacked a little to suit my theme better.
V
PS - this is my old screen! I've improved one or two things since, will try to post some new pics soonish.
Hmm... not quite what I was after. Here's a screenshot of my today page with the things that I don't like about it:
Items that I'd like to fix:
1 - combine these into a single line item
2 - get rid of the softbar (using a softkey for messages is a waste as there's already a hardkey for this and the calendar is already on the today screen)
3 - get rid of this line of icons (again duplicated information/functionality)
I tried your software but it doesn't seem to work with the MDA Pro: the screen ends up somewhat distored with the messages part of the today screen showing through to other apps and the right-hand 20% or so of the screen no longer updating - suspect a WM2005 prob somewhere.
Any other ideas?
Okay so not a perfect fix but I've found out how to change the softkeys on the Today screen and posted the details at http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=140027
Firstly thanks to all those who contributed knowledge, picture files etc in the production of this cab file.
This 'super theme' does a few things -
changes phone dialler skins in both landscape and portrait mode
changes dial buttons in both potrait and landscape views aswell as in the progress screen and dial screens
changes missed/incoming/outgoing notifications in call history
changes the ringtone to the matrix soundtrack
adds the matrix theme to 'my documents' folder.
what i am struggling with is to automate the matrix.tsk file automatically rather than manually setting the file.
i added this to my extended rom so the only other thing it didnt apply is the black bars on the task bars etc.
apart from that give me your verdict on rounghly a weeks work.....
ps the file is 4mb due to the ringtone and also i would like the data for the 'video' button so that i can amend the registry to fit in with the rest of the theme. thanks.

Thanks a lot .. works perfect

i am using a simple one called batterybar.arm
attached
nice and simple an deasy to use doesnt slow the system down much, only thing is it was designed for WM2003 so sometimes shows charging and sometimes battery full, but after a single tap starts to behave!
re other screen shots well i am hoping to do Star Wars theme, but give me a bit of time and will post
nice work 16cum :wink: give us more !!
Hello
A few glitches sorted out with the cab files, they still do what i said they would the difference is now they are about 1mb in size, i have cut down the ringtone to 33 secs so drastically reduce the file size with compromising quality.
the rest is the same. you will still need to apply the theme via the Today Screen settings as as yet i havent been able to apply directly. Unless someone can help me!!! anyway
Enjoy Starwars and Matrix!!!!
Plz leave feedback on these and any requests and am also considering starting a website for these Super Themes so can have them all in one place.
Thanks
Forgot to add:
Use any cab file on your Exec, and just install. It will restart the device, then goto settings>today and apply the theme.
If you want the other one instead just transfer the other cab file and click to install. It will automatically uninstall the first theme and install the 2nd one and just the same goto the settings>today and apply the new theme.
This way you dont use a lot of storage space and program memory., you only use the 1mb for each theme in you device or better still SD card.
thanks
Err I am no longer using The Matrix theme but it is still shows up on the dial pad section? How do i remove it?
Edit: Found it under remove programs
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share something back with the community, so here's a new "skin" for JPLDialer_VistaII by JPL4.
I've created images to overwrite the default images in the JPLDialer_VistaII installation to get a working version of my mock-up below. I'm doing it this way since I don't know of another way to do it, but I'm all ears if there is a better way?
NOW COMPLETE: See below for link to files.
Best Regards,

i like it.... very very nice and clean looking
Really like the JPLDialer_VistaII on PaulyA.com, but I wasn't thrilled about the grass image as it didn't fit right with the PocketCM contacts list I like so much, so, I designed a graphic "skin" to overwrite all of the graphics installed with JPLDialer_VistaII. Pauly A did all the work on the dialer, this is just cosmetic. All of the graphics are included.
1.) First install the "JPLDialer_VistaII by JPL4": http://www.paulya.com/dialerskins.htm
2.) Send the zip file below to your phone and unzip all of the images into your Windows directory (overwriting the files already there, I've named then the same). (Alternate to browse to the Windows directory on your phone when connected to your pc and overwrite the images that way instead).
3.) Do a soft reset. Ready to roll!
I hope you like it.
d38 Replacement Images for JPLDialer_VistaII: d38Rep_JPLDialer_VistaII.zip
Portrait Views
Landscape Views
that is really nice, great work man, i use http://www.paulya.com/dialerskins.htm this website every now and then to get skins from plus they are all free.....
I hope Paulya doesn't mind but I put the bitmaps together into a new JPLDialer cab to make the install easier. The dialer and the bitmaps are excellent.
EDIT: Couldn't attach so I linked it.
JPL Touch Dialer
nice i like that a lot more than the grass, thanks.
redial issue
if i open up the dial pad, and a number is at the top, if i hit the talk button or the hard button to dial from the phone, the phone will not dial the number. I am forced to hit call history then press dial from that menu. Any idea how to fix this issue. I am using a Mogul. Any help would be great
The redial and 911 functions do not work with this dialer. Can someone double check this? I am using a Sprint Mogul.
As in I can't dial 911??? Some one really should look into that.
P.S. Love the look of this dialer. But I suppose 911 should be an option!
Yeah, when you dial 911, the dialer freezes...which is kind of a really bad thing!!
Been a while since I've been able to check back here.
No 9-11 dialing? What? I just tried it on my 8525 (Windows Mobile 5) and it went right through. Not sure why it wouldn't work for you? I know this dialer doesn't use the smart dialer, but I didn't like that in the first place, I doubt that would be the issue for you?
R0N1N, VERY cool, thanks for doing that! I would like to know how that works... Any chance you could share a quick how to? Or a link for more info? Thanks regardless!
I'm going to make a new variation on this one, more of a black based theme, less blue this time. After using this for a while, I've noticed that I would rather see more variation in the button on / off states, especially outside on a sunny day. I'll post it here when it's complete!
Thanks for the feedback! As far as I'm concerned, all props go to PaulyA, but I do appreciate it!
love this skin TY!
Hello everybody !
After numerous attempts to customize my HTC trinity for a thumb-based experience, I finally got onto some applications that really do the job :
- Tene's PocketCM for the contacts
- ArticCat's OTO for the calendar (works well so far, however I hope to see more of it soon)
- Paulya's Vista II dialer replacement
- A_C's S2U for the lock and S2V for the pics viewer
- HTC's PhonePad for the SIP and Mediaplayer for the music player
- SPB's Mobile Shell for the navigation and the menus.
What I'm missing is a launcher that would work as a today plugin, and that would support large icons in PNG format (thus, with alpha transparency). By "big" I mean "larger than the default 32x32 pixels that all launchers support" - 48 or 60 pixels beeing the size I'm after (something large enough for my fat thumbs ). I don't need tab support, since there are only a small number of apps I want to access from the today screen (typically 8-12).
Do you know if anything that'd meet my needs exists for WM5? Even for a small/reasonable fee (means, around 10-15$) ?
Thanks a million in advance !
I think i used claunch to put a really big shortcut (64x64px) on my todayscreen
Greetings, Vi
ThrottleLauncher
Search for the ThrottleLauncher thread here. No Today plugin yet but all indications are that it will be coming. Great launcher, you can size the rows the pictures are in to any size you wish. I am using 56picsels by 56picsels.
pocketage - no size limit
I tried to install PocketAge from the latest CAB I could find on this board, but something must have gone bad... My Trinity is now stuck as reboot
Everytime I soft-reset it, it got stuck then block at the following step :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Of course, none of the hard or soft buttons work and I can't dismiss this reminder. I tried to remove the corresponding event from outlook but I couldn't manage to sync the device. I noticed I can access the device filesystem. One strange thing, though, makes me thing that the system is not completely frozen : the clock on the reminder changes and shows the correct time.
Any idea how to recover my phone without having to hard-reset it ? Thanks !!!

yeah, claunch is a good one. it's a today plugin and you can use custom icons. not sure if they are png though never tried it. it has way more options than you need but you can configure it how you want....

Hi,
Here's the last skin I made for BatteryStatus.
It's designed to be only a "Today CommManager", like Effcomm, but more graphical.

Features :
- toggle BT, WiFi and phone
- hold 1 second to have a little menu appear to select options concerning the item
Install :
- install batterystatus advanced (http://www.chi-tai.info/download/BatteryStatusExt.1.05.CAB)
- copy the dir and the XML file from the zip to \Windows\BatteryStatus
- change the theme in the options of BatteryStatus (Advanced Tab)
I also put the "older" version :
WirelessSwitch
Same features, same install, different look.
Tested on a Kaiser with stock ROM.
Enjoy
cool , super ton idée ton skin ..
it beautifull, great idée ;D
Very nice, looks great and works well. Great for people like me who are too lazy to open the real comm manager.
Cool, thanks!
just a question : what is the calendar plugin you use on the today in the DiamondWSwitch picture ?
I try to find something that will just display enough calendar info without scrolling bar on the right.
thanks
Bug feedback
Hi,
I'm using the Wireless Today Switch, which I think is fantastic, so thank you for the effort that went into making it. I have disabled the background by removing the line in the xml and the background png. I think it is line three. Anyway, one think I have noticed is that when you press and hold the phone button, whether the phone is on or not, the bottom option in the context menu is always "Turn off phone". The functionality works, i.e. it does switch the phone on when it's off, but the text is wrong. I'll have a look at it later myself but do you know an easy solution to this? I'll post the no background edit with a screen shot later today.
Cheers,

iPhone Theme/No WiFi (Perfect for HTC Touch)
Sorry for resurrecting such an old thread, but this seemed as appropriate a place as any to post this.
Though skinning and such is not my usual forte, I put enough work into this that it's only fair to share. This app was exactly what I was looking for when I decided I wanted a bluetooth on/off switch on my today screen... but, I really wanted it to match my iPhone icons. The result is attached. I've eliminated the wifi toggle since my HTC Touch has no wifi.
