- Where did you hear that someone can unlock it?
- Who told you it needs unlocking?

My O2 Exec is unlocked. Lots of other people in these forums have bought O2 Execs that are unlocked. The original poster wants to buy an O2 Exec. There's a chance that it may be unlocked when he buys it, although there are also rumours that recent O2 Execs are now locked.
I'm saying nothing about Universals in general.
Note: The locked/unlocked status of the O2 Exec is not necessarily the same as JasJar, Dopod, M5000 etc. The lock status depends on the phone service provider.
I bought my xda exec from o2 online store and it is unlocked, same for my brothers, but my mate bought his from theO2 store and that is locked,
Also from what people have been saying the Orange branded spv M5000 is locked, dont know if theres any truth in that,

I bought my xda when they 1st came out as soon as o2 had put it on its website I bought it for £233.00 for the device plus my monthly contract, the device came unlocked I had it exchanged because I done sumthing to it and again the device o2 online store customer services sent out was unlocked, then my brother bought his from o2 website and it was unlocked but when my mate and others bought theres from the store the devices were locked, the o2 online store must get a different batch then the rest of o2 because they have there own customer service team and way of doing things so if you have a normal contract they won't assist you, you have to call general customer services same with me when I first called customer services they told me i had to call the online account management team,
also with buzz's ROM unlocker will not sim unlock the device it will just allow you to edit what's in the ROM, and if you were to just change the ROM to jasjars it will still be sim locked,
I'm hoping one of the guys can get a simunlocking tool for the locked universals I'm getting oranges m5000 in a few weeks to sell but I know that it will be locked!!

For those who really need to unlock their XDA sim lock.
Since I purchased my XDA2i from eBay and there's no way to use O2 sim card in Australia, I then sent an email to O2UK's support team (look for the email in your XDA user manual), saying that I bought the damn thing from eBay and now out of O2's coverage, what I should do with the sim lock.
After a few emails between us, they granted me an unlock code for free!!! Well, I'd say, O2's not too bad at all somehow.
PS. They will ask for your IMEI, so I guess you can't cheat them if you are an O2 contracted customer.

What a laugh! They charge EUR 74,- plus shipping. I'd rather pay EUR 99,- here at the tmob shop and the Universal never leaves my hands.

id rather pay even double this money, like ill pay 140 euro i wont have a problem if thas what it takes, but my universal wont leave my hand.
i dotn feel like sending my phone overseas to get unlocked, actually the guyz OF imei check might be afraid that the guyz of our forum here, will sniff technics out of thier unlocking tool if they offered it online, but they are just limiting themselves with this, knowing that there are other people in other very far away countries, that needs this service, i dont think a guy in the US or Australia or asia, will send his phone to the uk, may be im thining wrong

No, It doesnt come with sim Unlocked. You need to use the software to unlock it.

Both that I have got from O2 (1 from a shop, and 1 online) were not sim locked. They may well lock them in the future though.

I thought mine was SIM unlocked. Heck everything seems unlocked and I got it from the O2 e store. Any quick way to tell if I'm SIM locked? :?
Put in a non-o2 sim and see if you can connect to the network. If so, you are unlocked and ready to rock.
If not, your device is locked and you'll need the tools from this site to sort that out

O2 supply all Contract phones unlocked now, think they realised there was no point in locking the phones as you are tied into a 12-18month contract anyway

Well I've got the same problem: my HD2 is simlock under orange network and all the websites I've tried can't find my unlcok code (I've tried XDA website links too)
To explain a bit more what's my problem is:
I've bought this phone in early 2010 june in new caledonia (where i live), It was allready unsimlocked, but it was allthough a defective phone, so I sent it back to HTC aftersales in France and they return it to me repaired BUT, as a repair they have change the radio card for a new one that is simlocked.
I've send mails to HTC who told me to ask Orange france and orange france, as I don't have an orange phone number told me to ask HTC.
And no f***ing site do have this f***ing unlcok code... so I'm the happy owner of a simlocked phone I paid about 742€... and non solution to unlock it :'(
What network do you want it on? I'll swap it with mine provided it's in good condition
Mine will only not work on the o2 network. That's the only thing wrong with it
You have to call HTC...they will eventually give you the code.

You will have to buy a code or get the person you bought it from to get a code from T-Mobile if they are a customer of T-Mobile.

Go check out eBay there is a lot of code sellers there. Also check out theunlocker.com
Hello, I got my HTC HD2 from O2 and I use NexusHD2 Android O2.
Now I switched to GalaxyS3 and want to sell the HD2 on ebay.
So do you know if there is any Netlock/Simlock on german O2 HD2 phones? Is there any database in the internet where I can check it?
I don't have non-o2 simcards to proove it myself.

You can ask o2 for an unlock code, or buy one from the many online unlocking websites / eBay sellers.
Note that if you are no longer an o2 customer they may refuse to give you the code.
Full unlock code on IMEI is best bet if you not O2 customer.
I use these guys > PDAmagician.com as never let me down & they are fast & helpful.
You may need to go to windows 6.5 to unlock but try on current android as many have reported it works !

Most phones that come direct from a carriers are locked, except one or two countries where locking is illegal (Denmark or Norway come to mind)
Don't you have any friends/relatives with a non o2 sim you can borrow for two minutes to check?
I just chatted with an O2-worker and he told me that my device is "free for all nets".
So I seem to be lucky.
