For those who really need to unlock their XDA sim lock.
Since I purchased my XDA2i from eBay and there's no way to use O2 sim card in Australia, I then sent an email to O2UK's support team (look for the email in your XDA user manual), saying that I bought the damn thing from eBay and now out of O2's coverage, what I should do with the sim lock.
After a few emails between us, they granted me an unlock code for free!!! Well, I'd say, O2's not too bad at all somehow.
PS. They will ask for your IMEI, so I guess you can't cheat them if you are an O2 contracted customer.

- Where did you hear that someone can unlock it?
- Who told you it needs unlocking?

Are you saying that universals don't need to be unlocked?

My O2 Exec is unlocked. Lots of other people in these forums have bought O2 Execs that are unlocked. The original poster wants to buy an O2 Exec. There's a chance that it may be unlocked when he buys it, although there are also rumours that recent O2 Execs are now locked.
I'm saying nothing about Universals in general.
Note: The locked/unlocked status of the O2 Exec is not necessarily the same as JasJar, Dopod, M5000 etc. The lock status depends on the phone service provider.
I bought my xda exec from o2 online store and it is unlocked, same for my brothers, but my mate bought his from theO2 store and that is locked,
Also from what people have been saying the Orange branded spv M5000 is locked, dont know if theres any truth in that,
unlocked
N2H u buy the contract exec and its unlocked??
unlocker
I would like to know if in case the exec is locked can we unlocked the exec by changing the rom??
hi free_10w
I bought my xda when they 1st came out as soon as o2 had put it on its website I bought it for £233.00 for the device plus my monthly contract, the device came unlocked I had it exchanged because I done sumthing to it and again the device o2 online store customer services sent out was unlocked, then my brother bought his from o2 website and it was unlocked but when my mate and others bought theres from the store the devices were locked, the o2 online store must get a different batch then the rest of o2 because they have there own customer service team and way of doing things so if you have a normal contract they won't assist you, you have to call general customer services same with me when I first called customer services they told me i had to call the online account management team,
also with buzz's ROM unlocker will not sim unlock the device it will just allow you to edit what's in the ROM, and if you were to just change the ROM to jasjars it will still be sim locked,
I'm hoping one of the guys can get a simunlocking tool for the locked universals I'm getting oranges m5000 in a few weeks to sell but I know that it will be locked!!

N2H Thanks for the info ^^
I see a lot of people working on a lot of other things, but is anyone actually actively working on a solution to unlock the Streak?
How did people get their Nexus Ones/Desires unlocked without going to their Telco?
How do these websites get unlock codes for phones? Have they hacked the phones and come up with some kind of keygen?
Or does every unlock code, whether its from a Telco or an independant websirte, ultimately come from the Telco/Hardware manafacturer?
I am looking everything few days at loads of "unlock" sites ...other forums etc.. Still nothing. Expect things start after the streak launch in the US.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought those unlocking sites got the codes direct from the carrier?
Also, i believe those with unlocked Nexus's (myself included) have unlocked ones because they got them direct from Google. All the others are locked down to the different carries. As far as i'm aware, the only way to unlock a phone is from these unlocking sites or via the carrier, and as O2 have said they wont be releasing the unlock codes until next year, it will be a while before the option becomes available.
Unlock sites don't always get unlock codes from carriers. Plenty of people who are able to develop an key generator. Willing to develop one is another matter, guess its all about ROI.
ROI? Republic of Ireland? Why? Is there where most of the key gen devs live?!?!
I've had enough of this unlocking business.
I've tried for three days now, going to over 10 local stores, malls, and other places to see if they can unlock my Rogers Dell Streak. I've tried countless websites only to be disappointed too.
Seriously, what's with carriers locking their phones? If people want to use their network, it should be because of their plans and customer service, not because of what phones they have.
Oh well, I'm selling my Dell Streak now. Very frustrated, because I actually like the device. But until there is a freakin easy way to unlock it, forget it. Not worth the hassle and headache.
Just use a rebel sim, it's only snobbery when people say it's not unlocked with a rebel, when you can do exactly the same thing.
The going rate for a streak code unlock is $100 or £45

they charge 90 pound to unlock !!! I am really doubt you paid for that...
Yes, I am looking for unlock code for my Streak too because it's an engineering sample and AT&T doesn't have the unlock code in their comuter.
It would be nice if someone could actually do something about this. Most AT&T folks have it easier since AT&T readily gives out the codes over the phone. Us unfortunate souls stuck with O2 locked Streaks are effectively screwed until O2 decides to change their stance on the unlocking thing. And most of the solutions found online are exorbitantly priced too.
att is giving out unlock codes for the streak. infact they are giving out unlock codes for their other phones too. dunno whats possessed them of all people to start doing that. if you have a rogers streak you can call att, they may have them since i dont think anything is really changed from the att one. i believe o2 is giving out unlock codes for the streak too. if not, you can always try the rebel sim card. it costs money and doesnt work with 2.2 though.
I can unlock without any problems.pm me if you need an unlock. Att only gives them out for SOME existing customers.

Is anyone actually working on an unlocking solution?
Yes: judging by the results of folks on the modaco forum keep pestering o2 until you get a result.
unlocking my Streak
I have a Streak which bought privately and an o2 sim only contract
If this is of any help, hear is the way I just unlocked mine free of charge and a day later (yesterday) my upgrade to 2.2 came through, bearing in mind this has taken about 10 days. you will understand why, as you read!
I emailed o2 and simply asked for an unlocking code, knowing the reply I would get setting in motion my already written response thanks to adzman over ad Modaco
o2 replied
Hello
I'm sorry the Dell Streak can't be unlocked by us as it's an exclusive phone and the manufacturer haven't given us the unlocking rights. Please contact the manufacturer to get it unlocked. I hope this helps. If you need any help, please email us or you visit our online helps centre on, (unable to post link)
I then replied
Hi
My understanding is the streak is no longer exclusive to o2 & therefore should qualify for unlocking. Other people have successfully obtained an unlock code for their streak from o2 The streak is now available on orange & vodafone (unable to post link) Also the streak is available sim free directly from dell or via tesco & argos (unable to post links) I understand that when first released this handset was exclusive to o2 & therefore not available for unlock. But as I’ve demonstrated this is no longer the case. I have no intention to leave o2, I like O2 that's why I came back to you, It's the fact that I bought this O2 Dell Streak privately and am using a sim only contract from you. Besides the dell streak is now available for unlocking via 3rd party companies (unable to post link) Please can you provide the unlock code, obviously I would rather deal directly with yourselves, but if need be I can get my device unlocked via the 3rd party. as i say, I’m very happy with O2 - please don't ruin the relationship I have with O2. If required I’d be delighted to talk to an O2 representative from your service management team to ensure my needs as a customer are met Thanks & regards

Hi
We don't have the code for this one on our database & will need to request this from the manufacturer. I'll have this requested & pass it on to you as soon as we get the code back.
Kind Regards

l seem to be still awaiting my unlock code, is there a problem?

Hello
Thanks for your email. I'm sorry you haven't received your unlatching code yet and for the delay in getting back to you. Unfortunately, we're having trouble getting the codes for Dell Streak devices at the moment but we'll keep requesting the code you need. I'm afraid I can't tell you how long this will take, but as soon as we have the code you need we'll let you know. If there's anything else we can do for you just drop us an email. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
Kind Regards

Re my waiting for my Dell Streak unlatching code. If you haven't got my code on your database and have to retrieve it direct from dell, does this mean that I will also have a problem with the O2 Android 2.2 upgrade which is due out today?
Next day I received my unlatching code
Hi
We have receive unlatching code for your Dell Streak handset however we haven't receive unlatching procedure for the same. The code you require for your handset is "02******"
Kind Regards
The procedure is simple take out your sim and put in a competitors, Tmobile, Vodafone etc. it will then ask for the code when you switch back on.
All this was over a 10 day period
Hope this is some use to somebody

I got an unlock code from calling AT&T. They said to enter another carriers SIM card, to get the prompt for the code. I do not know anyone who has a service with a SIM card in my city, besides T-Mobile. And no one here uses crappy T-Mobile.
My question is: how else can I get the prompt to unlock without another carriers SIM card?
(Dell will call AT&T on your behalf to get the code as well if you are scared of the AT&T techs)
sim
you can get a free pay as you go sim from the Tmobile site, don't know how long it will take to come through or maybe get in touch with somebody local to send you an expired one.
I have a bunch of expired tmo sims laying around if you need one.

calling anyone who can help out a windows mobile returnee. i just got a t-mobile wing from my cousin from the US as a gift but it's still sim locked to t-mobile. this is my 2nd windows mobile phone after my o2 XDA IIs got stolen way back 3yrs ago. i love these kinds of phones coz i can do lots of stuff like install apps. but of course, i want to use the phone on my home network also. so, can i ask anybody on the site, who has free time, to call t-mobile and help me out to get an unlock code? i am from the philippines and i have no other way of calling t-mobile to get an unlock code. i tried my cousins but apparently, they're too busy to do such things at the moment. anyway, i just wanted to post this hoping somebody here, who is a t-mobile subscriber, would be kind enough to call t-mobile up for me. thanks to whoever wants to help. my t-mo wing's IMEI is 35286201606649701. my email address, by the way, is [email protected]. thanks guys!
no one wants to help...tsk tsk...
please help....
how long should the unlock code be? i got a 15-digit code? is that correct? and how do i type it in? the unlock code dialog box let's me type only 8 digits? anyone care to help?
HTC-P4351 from Unicel
I have an old HTC P-4351 (assume it's the same as the T-Mobile 4350 "Wing") that I bought from a local carrier (Unicel) that went out of business a year and a half ago. I replaced it with an AT&T Tilt2 which I'm very happy with and have found a ton of neat tricks for here. Thanks for that.
I'd like to put the 4351 on eBay but it's locked, the company is out of business and can't provide an unlock code. I attempted to get one from HTC but they replied that only the carrier could provide that information. From what I see on eBay, the thing could fetch about $80 if it wasn't a locked brick sitting in my drawer.
IMEI: 35286201072742502
Instructions on how to unlock would be greatly appreciated.
I just had a nice, long, "LiveChat" with AT&T, who purchased the original carrier (Unicell) the phone was sold by. They seemed eager to help, knew exactly what I was asking for and why, asked all the right questions including the IMEI... and then told me no unlock code was available in their system after looking it up.
Hello, I got my HTC HD2 from O2 and I use NexusHD2 Android O2.
Now I switched to GalaxyS3 and want to sell the HD2 on ebay.
So do you know if there is any Netlock/Simlock on german O2 HD2 phones? Is there any database in the internet where I can check it?
I don't have non-o2 simcards to proove it myself.
Regards
Maxistar
You can ask o2 for an unlock code, or buy one from the many online unlocking websites / eBay sellers.
Note that if you are no longer an o2 customer they may refuse to give you the code.
Full unlock code on IMEI is best bet if you not O2 customer.
I use these guys > PDAmagician.com as never let me down & they are fast & helpful.
You may need to go to windows 6.5 to unlock but try on current android as many have reported it works !
Thanks,
does it mean that there IS a netlock in my HD2? I will ask O2 Germany via chat.. I will post when I know something more.
Most phones that come direct from a carriers are locked, except one or two countries where locking is illegal (Denmark or Norway come to mind)
Don't you have any friends/relatives with a non o2 sim you can borrow for two minutes to check?
I just chatted with an O2-worker and he told me that my device is "free for all nets".
So I seem to be lucky.
Hi, a friend of mine just bought a sim-locked Lumia 820 from a guy in the UK (we're from Italy, he knows that it was sim-locked, don't ask me why he did it). It's locked by O2 and, as far as I know, it's impossible to unlock it without being the original owner with the O2 SIM and then asking the support to unlock it. However, he went to a tech store and they said that they can unlock it (by paying money obviously)... I told him that I don't think they can do it, but I'm not sure now... what do you think? Are there any other methods to unlock it, maybe free?
Not impossible to unlock, I have done it before many times and use http://www.mobileunlocked.com/
They can be expensive but their service is very good, Best of luck
really? how can they do that? Is there a keygen in which you put the IMEI or something like that?
You can get free unlock code for handset locked on uk O2 from us, Just login using facebook and writedown model and IMEI number (put in HIDE as key icon in editor for security reason) and thats all.
Just wait when thread is open again because is only one on time
