AAAAH - found the problem - my mini wasn't actually connected - has anybody else had problems with Activesynch not picking the device up?
Got a call first thing this morning and it crashed the phone before it even rang. Also it resets without asking for my SIM PIN - pretty buggy methinks...

Internet keeps freezing, phone stops searching...

Hi, I have just upgraded to the xdaII (o2, UK) ; I have a couple of probs which I spoke to the o2 people about and despite 2 exchanges, the same thing keeps happening. firstly;
1 whenever I try to connect to the internet using GPRS and images enabled, the machine freezes after about 3 pages, requiring a soft reset ; the o2 people told me that I would have to wait for microsoft to fix the problem later this year (is this right?). It also happened using somebody else's SIM.
2 My phone often searches for signal but does not find any, requiring me to turn the phone off and on again - this happens when moving around. This happened to my old xda1 and was fixed bya ROM upgrade (I think)
My phone has ROM version 1.03.00 USA. Can anyone help - I feel completely useless. Please note that I am not particularly IT minded, 'patches' and most three-lettered acronyms don't mean very much to me. Many thanks for your efforts..

update xda2i

have received my 3rd 2i from o2 uk this week i test the gprs problem and this 3rd device has it so ive rung o2 and will ring them on monday to see if they have tested there model yet
the problem is this if you plug anything in to the bottom of the 2i be it power lead gps data cable then it breaks the gprs conection to only way to get round this is to either turn on flight mode then turn off flight mode or do a soft reset :?
the data support lady i spoke to is going look at it i have her name and extention number so should get some answers ive mentioned this is a device problom and should be referd back to htc the new device is going back and im keep my current 2i the second one i received ill let you know how it goes next weekend as i work away all week as a trucker in the uk
This happens to me as well. What also happens is that if you're connected to a power source like a car charger and you had the original headphone in the jack, the caller will not hear you...nor can you use the speakerphone option.
Luckily I've now got a BT headset that works with the new BT stack on the 2i, but for a few days I was VERY frustrated with the 2i. Now I'm quite happy.
Another thing. When I go to work I use Total Remote to send the IR signal to open the garage doors and I have to take it out of the car cradle in order to point it within 2cm of the sensor (damn non-commericial IR port). When I put it back in the cradle, I get the "ding" sound of having disconnected from something and the o2 active ui is closed as well.
Worth mentioning when you speak to them again. I think it's an OS problem not a hardware issue.
Cheers
Anthony
This seems like it could be a common problem, I've posted a very similar request;-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=18890
I do feel that this is a bug in the firmware, hopefully it will be fixed shortly.
I noticed this and it really irritated me. Solution - and it works every time - is a hard reset which you interrupt with a soft reset BEFORE the O2 software is installed. On the soft reset, the XDA2i becomes a unit that connects to GPRS every time which hasn't got the O2 customisation.
I use it with Smartner's push email solution. An excellent piece of software. See www.smartner.com
I don't think its the o2 customisation as I've removed this by disabling the Today screen items and then using the remove software option.
Another item that I find annoying is the screen rotation icon, it randomly disappears, I'm not sure if this is related, soft reset corrects this problem.
Trust me, it is the O2 customisation. I've done three hard resets (just testing various software options) and it works a treat. Beat the O2 crap and it's a perfect phone.
Based on previous suggestions I've carried a a cold reset and then a soft reset prior to the o2 installation, I now have a core XDA IIi without o2 modifications.
Unfortunately this does not solve the GPRS problems when connecting power etc, however it does seem to have improved. The camera is now more buggie...
As this is an intermitent problem I really think it is a firmware bug, abnd have logged it with o2, they are looking into it.
Didn't think it would....there's no reason for o2 to provide that "functionality"...just sounds more like an issue with OS interpreting a charger / car cradle and confusing the hell out of itself.
Ant
spoke to o2 this morning and its something they are looking with htc so a rom update COULD be on the cards for uk customers the problem is on there issue list atleast
I've had a response back from o2 regarding this issue, they said they had tried to reproduce the problem but couldn't, which didn't surprise me but they then suggested that I carry out a Corporate installation ie cold reset and then the corporate install.
Firstly you end up with an XDA IIi with all the applications installed but none of the o2 customisation, but you do manually have to configure the GPRS access point and email.
Having tried this configuration for a day now I must admit, things appear to have improved, the connection is still disconnected when attaching devices, but they reconnect without problems. Before I had to either reset the device or switch in and out of flight mode.
Knowing my luck this will all change tomorrow....
please keep us posted as to how it works without all the o2 crap on there
Thanks
Jonh

Rings for approx 1 hour...then no more! Compact MDA

Ive just bought a compact MDA, unlocked it for my vodafone PAYG. I love the unit HOWEVER, there is a problem: when I am called after approx 1 hour it no longer rings....
The phone just sits there. However it does give me the 'missed phone call' sound after whoever has tried to call me has put the phone down.
I then reset it, and it continues to work for about 1 hour...then the problem re-occurs...
I have WISBAR advanced installed and have set up the phone incoming call counds correctly...anybody know what's up?
Err mate, did you know that Wisbar Advanced does not work with Pocket PC phone devices? UNLESS you're using the beta verison (which is still buggy btw) then you should uninstall it and it will fix your problems!
Wisbar...
works fine on my phone....maybe it is that...if it is any suggestion for a replacement piece of software, i really like its functions etc...
Not yet...wait till the new version is released - that will support pocket pc phones.
Does the present atest beta work fine on phone' ppcs?

Vodafone Live on XDAlli

Hi, My company as moved from O2 to Vodafone and I now have a 3G SIM card and have unlocked my XDAlli. how ever as most will know it's very hard to get a bluetooth headset working with the XDA and now I am having major phone lock ups to the point I currently carry a Nokia as a phone and my XDA as a PDA. Is there a work around to get the 3G SIM working and to stop it crashing all the time???
The current set up is
ROM 1.11.00 WWE
Radio 1.04.00
Protocol 1337.42
I run this as non O2 but it still loads some O2 junk eg the MIDlet Manager, O2 Music Player.
I run TomTom 5.1 as I don't like the 5.21 version as it reduces your POI. but the unit will just lock up as you drive down the road as it searches for the next phone cell. If I turn the phone off tomtom runs great.
A lot of questions and I hope that you all have some of the answers.
Thanks and keep up the great work.

Try this file, it has all the O2 ****e removed and some people claim it works better with Tomtom, can't test it myself as I still have no SD card to put the maps on.
It also has improved and enhanced BT profiles which may or may not help.
About the 3G sim I don't know if it's down to the phone not being compatible or wether it's just the unstable O2 Active software etc.
Try it, what have you to lose?
Don't forget to backup contacts first, it's amazing the amount of people who forget.
Thanks for that I have loaded and re-loaded TomTom 5.21 and with my orange pay as you go sim all seams to be working will as have just brought my little one to a party. And no lock ups on the way with the phone on I might even look at changing back to the Vodafone sim card in a day or two once I know all is good.
I will now upgrade the two other XDAlli's we have at work on Monday and see if they have the same great inprovment.
Rom Update
The latest O2 rom "171" from the myxda site seems to be stable and certainly works well for me with both Bluetooth headset and GPS/TomTom as well as working better in the BURY car kit. I have no problems with Vodafone on the 2i.

Help! Atom Exec Auto Answers on WM5!

I have reflashed the lates O2 ROM, but calls coming in to my atom exec will cause it to buzz or ring for around 3 seconds and then the call is automatically picked up! This is a good feature IF you want it at certain times, but it makes the phone unusable in a biz setting.
All software is uninstalled after the re-flash, and I even flashed the latest WM6.1 to see if that would correct the problem (off this site). No luck.
Has anyone heard of this before? Suggestions? I had a lot of SPB software and Burr Oaks Wake-up Tweak but I didn't notice this problem before I moved to a new network. The same sim works on my nokia and motorolas, so don't think sim problem.
Thanks for any help...
I got the same and worked around it
Dear friend i got the same problem hard reset , reflash wont work. The last resort that worked for me is changing the SIM. Once i did this it worked for all the SIMS . ( I sold my Exec and the customer complained about this then i noticed the problem occur only for certains SIMs )
mail me [email protected] if you have any problems.
