Cant view full screen videos on O2 XDA Exec - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hi
I m new to this forum. pls help me if any body could tell that why cant we have full screen view of videos on 'Xda Exec'.

The Exec is 640x480.
If you encode your video for 640x480, it will be full screen. Most people have existing videos that are 320x240 for their old device, and look tiny.
MS took great care to make sure that all apps on the Exec Pixel double from 240x320 to 480x640, so as to not make use of the VGA screen at all, and look the same as the old device with qvga screen.
However the one app that we all WANTED to be able to pixel double, Media player, DOESNT!
Slap MS for that.
IE, we want in VGA and doubles to QVGA
WMP we want in QVGA (with option of vga) and it doesnt double at all.
Go figure.
For now, re-encode your videos.

What is the best app to do this. I'd like to be able to rip DVDs and convert mpg/avi/divx/xvid to play on my MDA Pro. (Free if possible)

you can edit the registry to fix IE though, can't you ?
can you do the same for media player, but the other way around?

Media player is in ROM, but you may be able to copy it to the PC, edit it with ResHacker, remove the HI_RES_AWARE resource, and then copy it back to the Exec... Maybe.. haven't tried this.

Take TCPMP http://corecodec.org/frs/?group_id=53&release_id=224#r224 - WMV, MPEG, DivX - and free.

Movies!

Hey people!
I use Windows Media Encoder 9 to encode my movies and the result is amazing. Crystal clear picture and great sound. Right now I am watching The Forgotten with Julianne Moore. Great movie!
What do you use?
Take Care
Björn
u have any small samples?
i use pocketdvix encoder
I also discovered that Windows Media movies are a lot better than the Divx ones I made with PocketDivxEncoder. Also it's a lot faster and you don't need any crop and whatever actions. The picture quality is a lot better than with Divx in my opinion. Also, when using XP, you don't need any extra software, only the free Microsoft Movie Maker. Just import the movie file, drag all parts down and save the movie as Pocket PC Fullscreen. This is a lot faster than PocketDivxEncoder.
For DVDs i think you'd need something like DVDecrypter and DVD2AVI to be able to import the movie into the Movie Maker.
doesnt do .mov files, i normally do trailers
use smartmovie 2.72
hi guys...
I am using fully cracked smartmovie 2.72 player & its rocking... the audio & video clarity is too good. The conversion is very quick -- matter of 1 to 2 mins.
if anyone needs mail me at [email protected]
Bye

This is not the right place for pirated software!

Hey, izzit really 1.11.160 WWE ExtROM ? Any source to download :?:
@Ill tempered
I didn't test that. I only know that the Movie Maker only accepts files like avi and so forth. I'm not sure about the Digital Rights management - this could cause trouble with some or even all DVDs. Just try.
Anyway, there will definately be a way to encode DVDs with Windows Movie Maker and the quality is really, really good. I think that DivX Codecs are just not optimized for the PPCs format.

Any fix for full screen video on JasJar WMP

Is there any hack to gain full screen picture on the universal JasJar yet?
Reghack? If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
Dude, you HAVE to switch to TCPMP! It's free, WAY better than WM, and plays a LOAD more codecs! COMPLETE no brainer once u know. Enjoy
True about TCPMP, but there are a number of services that use WMP. For instance, the popular online TV sharing tool Orb uses it for viewing programs. I don't believe TCPMP can be used in place of WMP for stuff like that.
Can you get orb to work at all on the jasjar i get an error when i try to play any video or music file says file is corrupt or not supported by windows media player

Funny thing that. Encode your own video and it won't play full screen, however record a video on the jasjar @32x240 resolution and WMP happily plays it in full screen mode. I don't think a hack is needed as much as a bug-fix (as you rightly state in your subject header)!!
JASJAR Full Screen Video
I disagree, any play back of videos created by the jasjar do not play back in full screen mode, they dont even take in full screen mode. I always have this tiny little square inside a big screen.

Sorry to hear that simon_darley. Have you upgraded to the latest ROM? If yes, I can't help you, but if no, then you should do that first. Either way, I was merely posting my experience.
If I record video on my Jasjar @ 'Large (320x240)' in 'MPEG-4' format, I can play it back full screen in WMP no probs at all!

Me too. I'm on the latest ROM too, and there was a release note regarding full screen video that came with that ROM. I didn't read it very carefully, cause I too use TCPMP, but I think that's when it was fixed?
here are my settings:
perferct video and audio quality::::
640x450 screen size @ 15 fps and 300kb video bitrate and 90 kb video bitrate done as wmv format by tmpgenc 3.0.... for memory saving ive got 80 music vids on my 2gb sd card
if i wanna watch an avi or mpeg i use tcmp player with the original divx/mpeg coded videofile downloaded from the net
what file should i d/l ?!?
http://corecodec.org/frs/?group_id=53
I'm buying the JasJar and i didn't quite understand what files i need to d/l.
anyone ?
"tcpmp.arm.cabs.0.66.zip" if you want the .cab files which you copy to your JasJar and install locally.
"tcpmp.setup.0.66.exe" if you want to connect your JasJar to your computer via ActiveSync and run the .exe from the desktop to install it.

Video playback

Hi,
I've started to look into DVD conversion for WM5 and with the number of people here with the same device I am curious to know what results others have found to be the optimum settings for video compression and playback.
I guess the questions I would like answered are;
- what video player software do you use on your Universal?
- what software have you used to convert DVD to WM5
- what settings have you found to provide the best results? (frame rate, bit rate, cropping, display size, etc)
- did you use any hacks to improve the playback (registry hacks or eliminated software etc).
Regards
Michael
i'm using WM Encoder... it works perfectly... maybe u can try it out...
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...02-e496-465a-bba9-b2f1182cdf24&DisplayLang=en
Hi,
So what settings have you found work best with this media encoder?
Michael
Select Pocket PC widescreen (CBR) for video and CD Quality (CBR) for audio, check 259kbps and you're good to go...
works for me... hope it will for you...
Cheers...
Hi,
But is that the best resolution the Universal can do?
Michael
you can try encode with better resolution, but it will appear the same, some will be worst unless u have a big screen... cos big resolution medias will automatically resize to fit in your media player and it'll take up more space...
Will this play in full screen in WM10?
Full screen mode... Select Pocket PC widescreen (CBR) for video and CD Quality (CBR) for audio, check 259kbps

i havent had any luck with this... i think its because i dont have a DVD decoder for my Windows Media Player (on my PC)
my DVD drive came with a copy of InterVideo WinDVD, which plays DVDs fine - but Windows Media Player doesnt recognise DVDs (the menu Play -> DVD... is greyed out)
does anyone know of:
- free (or cheap?) decoders for WMP that would get WM Encoder to work? or
- an alternative encoder that comes with its own decoder?
thanks!
dalelane, I don't use WM encoder myself, (I'm a VirtualDub man) but if you want a very comprehensive set of codecs do a quick Google search for the "K-Lite Codec Pack" or the "Ace Mega Codec Pack". Both are free, and if you still can't use WM Encoder after you've installed those codecs, then it's obviously not meant to be...
Video Playback
Can anyone advise a way of increasing the size of video playback in so called full screen mode to actually fill the screen?
You've got two options:
1) Encode it in a resolution that fills the screen, i.e. not 320x240 but 640x480. The problem with this is that it will probably not play smoothly.
2) Use a decent media player that can resize a 320x240 video to fill the screen like TCMPMP. (Free)
You'll find a link to download TCMPMP elsewhere on the forum. I've tried it and it works a treat.
All this info is available elsewhere of the forum if you do a bit of searching.
Movies I've ripped for my Dell Axim X50v with fairusewizard light and the default 2-pass XVID settings file size 700MB play fine on My JasJar using TCPMP. The only setting I change in Fairuse is the resolution. I make it as close to 640x480 as possible from the list of resolution it gives you.

FULLSCREEN VIDS not postage stamp fullscreen please!!!

yes, yes, yes, i know every newbie gets told to search. i tried but this seems like a heck of a site with tonnes of posts.
In short could anyone kindly point me to a post or answer the que:
How do i get my videos to play on actual FULLSCREEN and not postage stamp fullscreen.
is there an option or is it small because of the limited processing power?
Cheers
Mark
If u wanna play them with the default WM player then upgrade to the AKU 3.2 version ROM or else try TCPMP player it's free and good enough for all ur multimedia player needs.
Thanks bud. i tried a few vids on the wmp player first and luckily one of them actually played on the FULLSCREEN. the vid had a much larger data transfer rate.
So is there any way to modify the files i have so that they have the same arrangement as this particular file.
Anyone had the same problem
Cheers
Mark
I'd really recommend installing TCPMP. The standard media player is pretty crappy (just like Windows Media Player, I guess). TCPMP is free and plays all videos in Fullscreen if you want. If also supports a lot more codecs than the standard player.
WMP that comes with the phone will not show a video to be any larger than it actually is. If a video is 64x64 pixels then it will occupy that much on the screen. It will however crush a 640x480 video to fit your 320x240 screen.
TCPMP WILL stretch videos to fill your screen. Get that!!
There is no way to edit the file like you suggested without making the file size much greater needlessly.
If I use the camera video capture function, it always plays in reduced size, even using the new ubeaut 3.2 ROMs. These ROMs have not fixed the full size video issue for videos captured in 320x240 using mp4 format.
Unless, of course, somebody can tell me where to look and the settings. I have been using AKU3.2 for a while both versions, and they do not play the video capture in full screen mode at all.
Maybe if I use AVI formats rather than MP4 might be an idea I havent tried. MP4 is a much more compressed format.
hey thanks for the help - cheers
guys, i just needed the reassurance that it was ok. i just downloaded it and as u say its a great full screen player - thanks again.

Record in avi?
Hey, any1 has any idea how to record in .avi? It seems the registry keys are there (HKLM/SOFTWARE/HTC/Camera/Recparam/)but the option to save as avi is missing..

The best player for avi is Coreplayer.
It's not freeware but it works like a charm.
Only reminder is that u don't want the polaris to play to high resolution avi's because it wil not work that good on this device.
Best is to remake a lower resolution avi (320x240) so it wil play perfect.
Or just recode it to a mp4 with the the max resoluiton of 640 x 480 and it wil also play perfect.

any solution to watch movies with subtitles on coreplayer?
I don't know about coreplayer but you can watch subtitles with TCPMP.
you can find everything here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=345995&page=2
yep tcpmp became coreplayer - tcpmp was/is free, after gaining popularity they changed the name and made it chargeable, tcpmp still works fine for me.
people have different preferences on the converter (have a look about for one - i haven't done it for a while so can't remember which one i found best!)
but scaling down to 320x240 AND make sure you either choose an option to keep the original frame rate or as close to as possible (right click on the avi on the pc to check the properties - it's often 23.97) otherwise the picture struggles/pauses etc as sound and video no longer match or by choosing a higher frame rate than the original the converter puts in duplicate frames (which has pretty much the same effects)
hope it helps
