Yup,
Check the Macromedia site for the Flash plugin. Is also available on this site. Good luck.

what about a java plugin for the PIE so i can use hushmail.?

ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Java/JeodeForPocketPC.exe
It's a Java JVM for Pocket Internet Explorer.

sweet ill let people know if it works with hushmail

plugin fails to load.. i have no clue whats wrong with it.

Just installed it on my Qtek 9000... works fine with Buzztime (www.buzztime.com) in Internet Explorer Mobile.

RE
Hi BeyondtheTech,
I can access buzztime too
Whats there in buzztime that separates the difference between having java and no java installed?
Any other java-enabled sites that can be tested out which cannot be tested by no java installed?
Thanks

The Buzztime games are Java-enabled internet-multiplayer games. I don't know about other Java sites, though.

RE
Hi BeyondtheTech,
Few questions on Jeode for PPC
1) Does it supports WM5?
2) After installing, can internet banking sites be accessed from the PPC? I was informed that because Jeode for PPC does not have security features, hence, banking sites cannot be accessed ie. login in
3) If no, is there any way that internat banking sites can be accessed from the PPC?
Thanks

i can get in desertschools.org and bofa.com

i can access HSBC Banking from my PPC anyway - althought i dont think thats JAVA.
I do have problems playing games that are made with Visual Basic though - gonna look for a plugin/install now
p.s Using a O2 Exec WM5

Opera have no intention on writing a browser for Windows Pocket PC.
They will however be relasing a version for Windows Mobile 2005, as the OS will be the same on both Pocket PC and Smartphone, so giving a sizable target market.
but the java opera version works ok on pocketpc's
http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/index.php?action=expand,42332
but it being a java miplet would prob mean it's not the fastest thing

Java Applet or similiar for Chess Site

hello,
searched these forums and the answer pointed to jeode for pocketpc.
tried it and installed/activated plug in nut it didnt work for me.
i play chess on www.redhotpawn.com and they use some sort of java for me to make the moves. pIE doesnt support as you are all well aware, but bitstreams Thunderhawk browser does.
now what i am after is a plugin/cab file to enable me to play the chess game on my wifi connection at home instead of pc.
i know i have the option to subscribe to thunderhawk but i only need 1 part of this software and not all of its features ie dont want to overpay for just 1 feature!
all help suggestions appreciated. thanks
Have you tried Jeode? It's a java plugin that works in pIE...
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Java/JeodeForPocketPC.exe
i have already tried jeode and it didnt work for me.

WM5, PIE and Java Plugins, is this my best choice >

Firstly Java plugin for Wm5/PIE..is this my only choice, do you guys have it : http://www.nsicom.com/Default.aspx?tabid=138
Q: How come desktop version if free ( via SUN), and pocket pc is not ??
What about PIE/WM5 plugins for Macromedia and other internet browser tools. ? Is there a list of the usual suspect of WM5 /PIE plugins some where ?
thanks.
It works fine, but the only real application I would really need Java is a webmail using classes not included in this.
I already used jeode, same results.
It's here:
http://www.cs.unc.edu/~lindsey/7ds/notes/jeode/
Waiting for Netront 3.3, the full version should mount also a Java plugin.
It's still in beta on their website.
Thanks for the link, but I cant find any link to download the file, please advise.
Standard web browser plugins required are : java, adobe, macromedia.
I went to Net Front website, but there is no conformation that it works on WM5 or HTC Universal products.
If I'm not wrong, Jeode was an Insignia product (www.insignia.com) and now it's Esmertec.
You can buy it at handango:
http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...atalog=30&txtSearch=Esmertec&pc=list[1]_title
Please read also customers' comments here:
http://compaq.handango.com/Platform...Type=2&productId=48776&sectionId=0&catalog=30
About Netfront, search on this forum. It definitely works, you can download a trial version here:
http://nfppc.access.co.jp/english/about_v33.html
at the bottom of the page.
It's a trial, and Java isn't yet available, but it will be in the commercial version (it should be delivered soon).

Are you talking about Virtual Earth Mobile cos this is brilliant. I used to use a version that required a java plug in but I reckon this is better excellent in fact.

This gives a cab file so dead easy to install.

Java version

Sorry if I was a little dismissive re Java version, and as I'm feeling guilty, here's a link that will help if you really want to pursue the Java, Jar, Jad, Midlet thingy route.
Note "Google Local Mobile got renamed to Google Mobile Maps (gmm) and the main Java class is now called GoogleNav."

Also some more info on Java on PDAs here:
http://blog.vikdavid.com/2004/12/java_on_pocketp.html
I use the IBM J9 java emulator. Works well.
BTW You might like to have a look at MG Maps:
http://www.mgmaps.com/
It can access Google Maps, Google Satellite, MSN Road Map, MSN Aerial, MSN Aerial with labels, Yahoo Maps, Yahoo Satellite, Ask.com Maps and Ask.com Aerial. It's GPS aware (although this doesn't seem to work with my BT GPS) and can access KML overlays (although I haven't tried this out yet.)
Very nice.

thanks guys! a lot of info to dive in, great!
People still use java??? I haven't used java on my phone since I last had a SonyEricsson! I haven't bothered with Java on WM phones.
java and flash are the future of mobiles, they just haven't realized it yet (aside from Japan ) and ajax...
I think the original poster was referring to javascript, not real java code. A lot of Banks and online sites us javascript and it used to be a big problem with ce and wm2002 and wm 2003. WM5 seems to handle some of the basic javascript and then there are several apps for addon such as IBM's j9 or websphere or what ever the name is this year. Also, midlet's are becoming more available

You mean JavaScript? Very few pages use client-side Java and I don't think this will change.

Nope, Google Earth is Midlet-based; see my Midlet & Google Earth -related articles.
Is there any way you can get a pluggin that makes java midlets (J2ME) Work any better? The ammount of midlets that install and then just do nothing is appaling? Sony Ericcsons and Nokia's have multiplayer Bluetooth Midlets that work on either device, why not on ours?? Also one in particular is REPORO (Awesome Program) They have a midlet specifically made for the Wizzard wchic works fine on the Tytn but I have found it is massively cut down! On a Nokia or Sony Ericsson or Motorola (I work in a phone shop so have everything readily available) They can all access the phones contact book and Pictures and Camera so you can send free picture messages to other REPORO users! Now Ive installed all the other brands versions onto my VARIO and they all install fine but then they dont run and crash my phone! Can I get an emulator or a pluggin to fix this?
www.REPORO.com
(Awesome if only for the live football results)
Chat rooms
Free Texts
Free Picture Messages
MSN, YAHOO, AIM, Google Messenger!
Shopping
News
Horrorscopes
And the list keeps getting bigger! Awesome software!! (MAke sure you select the O2 XDA MINI S as your device as its the only Wizzard derivative on there.
Install the J9 VM like others have mentioned.
Oh, and remember: "Write Once, Run Anywhere"...HA!!

java (needed if possible)

I have just got hold of a t-mobile Ameo (funny when screen starts is states on the top - test only not for sale
oh well i bought it in good faith from ebay.
Question
when i tried to use a cam site it will not run because it needs Java, i have a copy of java that i put on my main PC running IE
will this version work on this machine
if not
can someone please send me a link to download a vesion for win5 mobile.
thanks for reading, and i did a search but could not find an answer.
Peter
I too have been hoping to have this. Unfortunately I don't think it exist yet on on the WM5 platform. I have so many websites that I wish I would access using our device but just have to go back to my desktop. An example of such a website would be www.fxstreet.com where I want to look at the graphs of real time exchage rate movement. When directed to the Sun Microsystem's website for Java Update, it would simply says that they do not have a version that support my operating system platform. This problem is similar to not being able to directly play youtube movies on the website because their version of flash player is always newer than what is available on WM5 environment.

Because it`s actually a beta (not a trial - sorry, I ought to have used the right word). Java is an external application and I assume either they have to pay a licence fee for it or they know that it already works (hence doesn`t need to be in the beta).
it has been the same for each beta. There should be a trial of 3.3 which does include java.

To be honest i get most sites down but i did a search for java based sites and found sites that would not work like (www.webcamnow.com) just to really test the system. Perhaps none of the current browsers will load such sites, am i asking too much from a small operating system.
