I've got an 02 Exec version of the Universal on the 02 Network.
I've been having problems with the phone switching off at around 50% battery charge, which is detailed elsewhere in these forums. I've ordered a new battery (which hasn't arrived yet). Just in case it isn't the battery, I phoned 02 (totally useless, I urge anyone not to think about going with them) and asked about how long the warranty is. They told me it is only one year. I've had the Exec now for approx 18 months and was under the impression that it comes with 2 years warranty and not a year.
Could anyone possibly let me know how long the warranty on the Exec is.

Well if it is two years I just wasted £12 on a new battery from eBay!

Its 24 months. got to the HTC website and log a service request. dont expect a rapid response though.
Does this mean everyone who's battery has gone duff at <2 years can get a new one?

I had exactly the same problem and took it to my local store. They tried to repair it and it made it slightly better i.e. it went off at 22% instead of 50% but was no better really.
I asked them to have another look at it and they replaced it for a brand new one!
Mine was 13months old. I originally had a 12month Contract but extended it for 18months. I believe it had 2 years warranty as I didn't pay a penny to get it replaced.

Right folks, I received the new battery and it now switches of at 10% charge with the new battery. Is this normal or should it go all the way down to 0% before it switches off?
The reason I ask is because I had the old battery so long and had it switching off at 50% charge that I can't remember at what level of charge it used to switch off when my Exec was new. I need to know if it's normal to switch off at 10% or not. Because if it isn't I need to get it back to the 02 shop sharpess to get it repaired if it's not the battery at fault.

I'm no expert - but from lots of reading on this sort of issue, I would fully charge the new battery (leave on charge overnight even when showing 100%, as with any new battery device!) and then re-flash your ROM.
It could be there is some legacy information in the device that 'scales' the battery consumption/power left in it etc...? And so flasing the ROM with a new battery should have the device acting "as new"...?!
I can't confirm this from personal experience, but as I mentioned before, it kinda makes sense to me from gleaning information across the forums.
Let us all know if you choose to give this a go!

I tried the above (reinstalling the Rom) but my phone still switches it's self of at 10%. What I need to know is this normal behaviour or should it switch off once it get's to 0%?
The O2 warranty for all Xda type device is 2 years. But this is only for the the device itself. For the battery and screen the warranty is 6 months.

I had never tried draining my battery to ZERO, but the lowest level before I start to plug-in my device is at 5 percent. I believe, mine would drain to zero if I let it be.

Can you tell me where you read this?
I read these forums a lot but rarely post. I had a problem with my Exec 2 months after my 12 month O2 contract ran out. In the original retail packaging was a warranty leaflet that confirmed a 24 month warranty but getting O2 to belive this took (what felt like) 100's of emails.
Eventually I got the following:
"I am sorry for the difficulties you are having with your faulty O2 Xda Exec.
This is not the level of service we wish our customers to receive. Your comments have been noted.
I can confirm that the O2 Xda Exec does come with a 24 month warranty.
To discuss the repair or replacement of your handset, please call our repairs team on 08702 250 208. Kind regards,
David Jackson
O2 Customer Service."
And they finally had it in to be repaired and actually replaced it with one that looks like new!

You are a star thanks for the tip mate. I've just been down my cellar and got the box and low and behold I have a warranty pamphlet that states it's 24 months. Now the o2 exec didn't come out until summer 2005 so I've definatley had it less than 24 months. I will be on the phone to customer services first thing regarding getting a replacement.

I may be barking up the wrong tree here, but the replacement battery that I brought is only 1500mAh instead of 1620mAh which the original was.
Could it be that my phone thinks that it's a 1620mAh battery instead of a 1500mAh and switching off at what the phone thinks is 10% but is really 0% (because 1620 - 10% = 162. 1620 - 162 = 1458 mAh)?

Just to let everyone know who kindly contributed to this post, I got my new XDA Exec from O2. Took my old Exec back to an O2 shop, they send it away for repair and if the repair centre cannot repair the Exec in 7 days, they are obliged to give you a new one. Just picked up my brand new Exec from the O2 shop and it's in a sealed box!

For what it's worth, I bought a non-genuine replacement battery and had loads of problems with it - the XDA just didnlt seem to get on with it! When I put the official one back in, suddenly all is back to normal!

Im into my 14th / 15th month of a 18 month contract with T-Mobile. Ive noticed that the battery power has been going less and less for some time now. But now the phone keeps on just turning itself off? I could charge it all morning, have a five minute conversation and then the phone would go off! Its extremely annoying as you could imagine.
My annoyance however comes when I go into the T-Mobile shop today and tell them about this problem to be told "The phone is only garenteed for 12 months and I could get it fixed but it may cost about £40 for a new battery". The shop assistant even said "Its problees the battery, they tend to go after 12 months".
WTF are T-Mobile doing giving a 18 month contract for something that only lasts 12 months!?! I mean am I pouring £8 insurance incase my phone breaks into someone elses bank for no reason?! Surely this cant be right?
Anyone help? Is my best bet just buying a new battery? I bet I get one and find out thats not the problem!

pretty much every warranty is only 12 months regardles of any contract
if you pay for insurance, you have to mention this when talking to the t-mobile shop, otherwise they assume you don't have it - if you do have it, then they are required to fix the phone no matter what
to be honest, it would probably be a good idea to try a new battery anyway as batteries, especially lithium-ion ones, degrade if they are not 'cared for' and broken in properly

My mate just got his transformer back after 3 weeks,
He had issues with getting a repair then at the local store so had to send it off,
Asus did say 2-weeks but it took 3-week due to stock,
The replacement sent was brand new with charger and cable so he has 2 of each now,
Now does the 12 months warranty start again as it's a new unit or does it stay the same???

I can't find much info about what the exact terms of Asus' warranty is, but I doubt it would start over every time you sent it back for repairs. They might give you a small warranty extension to cover the repair work (e.g. 90 days on top of whatever is left) but I've never seen anyone offer to 'reset' the warranty period altogether after a successful RMA.
The best way to be sure, is still to mail the support

I have bought my phone last year in march and never had any issues with it.
A few days ago I have read on one forum that some guy saw that his rear glass was getting loose just like that withiot any drops etc.
Yesterday I have seen that the same is happening to my phone. It was just on one side and about 1mm, but today it got worse and got more loose. Also the phone restarted today itself, it never happened earlier...
I have checked another forum and saw that another guy has the exact same problem and it started days ago...
I suspect that it is because of the battery, it is really bad in the last few weeks, the issue is that I have a warranty for 2 years but as far as I know for the battery it is 1 year :/
Did anyone has similar experiences with the back glass?
Battery also 2 years. This is what Samsung said everytime when somebody complained about the opportunity to change the battery.

I am from Bosnia and in my Warranty card it says strictly that battery warranty is 12 months.... but this is not fair as my phone housing is bad it should be covered in the normal 2 year warranty

I know about 2 cases in Austria and Germany where the shop (were the phone was bought) had to change the batteries free of charge because there's a law that says that 2 years is the warranty.
And as not changeable batteries are a part of the smartphone the 2 years warranty is also for them.

Correct, though technicaly the OEM offers one year warranty and the seller of the device the 2nd year here in the EU. You should always contact the seller and let him deal with it.
My device got some screen trouble since i bought it, 2 weeks ago, so i'm going to send it to repair under warranty, but i wanna know how long does it takes for motorola to cha ge it?
Depends... if they actually repair it and don't send you a refurbished (or sometimes new) device, expect 3-5 business days plus shipping time. If they send you a refurbish or new device, 2-3 business days plus shipping time assuming they have devices in stock. This also varies based on your service center, US vs EU vs LA vs Asia, etc can vary significantly. Of course, this is just a general rule... some people claim <24 hour turn around and others say it takes weeks, this is just an average. If your device has to cross international borders, bear in mind that could add days or weeks (or more) to the shipping time in some cases.
