im in US, im thinking to buy T-Mobile MDA with 29.99 plan. Should i buy it next month or wait for new device coming out than MDA? or other suggestion?
Thanks
Amazon has the phone free after a $50 rebate with a commitment of two years on a $39/mo. or higher plan. They force you into the $29 data plan, but you can cancel it within 14 days without jeoporizing the rebate. If you don't mind losing the $50 rebate, you might be able to change from $39 to $29, and then the phone would cost you only $50. Not sure if the contract locks you into a $39 or higher option.
It bought mine two months ago when it was $89 after the rebate and I feel like I did well. I would've bought a voice plan anyway, probably the same one. A the local T-Mobile shop I would've paid $300 after rebates and still would've been locked into a contract, probably only one year in that case.

some people can use bb plan instead of tmobile 29.99plan - http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=52059&highlight=plan
ill try bb plan after receive mda
www.letstalk.com has a better deal. After rebates it comes out to a free phone. AND it's only a one year contract. I went with them and have had no problems.
I personaly would not wait for another device. The MDA is relatively new and I wouldn't expect T-Mobile to release something to replace this any time soon.

i found cheapest http://www.garthwireless.com/Mda.html
Get the MDA
I agree. I bought mine with www.letstalk.com
I got it free after rebate. Exceptional customer service. In fact it came a day earlier than promised.

NB
recently order it... ill get it this monday cant wait!!!
Another difference between letstalk.com and garthwireless.com is that the shipping on letstalk.com is free and requires no additional data plan.
However, garthwireless.com gives you a free bluetooth headset.
Cheers!

the HTC Hermes is now available in europe and asia, it shouldn't be long that we get it in the old US of A .... The T-Mobile MDA or the MDA Vario to the rest of the world will be replaced by the MDA Vario II (aka the HTC Hermes aka HTC TyTn aka O2 XDA Trion aka Dopod CHT9000 aka Orange SPV M3100) by Sept or October ... from the rumor mill, T-Mobile USA and Cingular will both carry the Hermes as well .... so i would guess by christmas time ..... until now we're still lagging behind mobile technology ... at least it's not 5 years .... just a year or so ... he he he
Hi
My X1 has gone back to vodafone UK.
Not for any fault of the X1, not due to the coverage, but due to a mad vodafone policy that means that if you don't give them your PAC code when you order, you will never-ever be able to port a number in later.
This differs from all other UK networks on which you can port numbers in ad-hoc during the contract.
The reason, of course for not porting a number in at the time of order is that I wanted to check out the phone/network before switching from T-mobile.
The only way to port in not is to return the phone under the 14 day policy, then re-order it (entering your PAC) - (and have them do another credit check on you).
I shant be re-ordering, its back to my MDA Vario III for me. Maybe one day, t-mobile UK will get some phones worth having in...
Nigel
Why don't you just buy the phone, unlocked from clove.co.uk I think its like 525 w/ VAT which is pretty steep, but I don't know what you paid from Voda either. Also..I am pretty sure even the Vodafone "branded" ones are infact unlocked anyway and useable on tmobile-UK.
Or do what I, and Orange customer, did.
Order it new on Orange (mobiles.co.uk and E2save are selling them on Orange contracts)
Got a PAC from Orange for my existing Orange number.
Port it onto a pay as you go sim like Virgin.
Get PAC from Virgin and port number back onto Orange within the first 3 months.
You have just 'upgraded', but got a deal as a new customer
@mlinz: I would never, ever pay £525 for a phone!!! Mine was £50 on a contract through vodafone.
@kr00t0n: I've done the port elsewhere then back to get the same deal as a new customer trick before - but its too much hassle + you have to cart 2 phones around for a while. I'd rather cough up the additional few quid and save the hassle.
I had the phone I wanted on the network I wanted @ the price I wanted, but they would not port in my old number (of 15 years).

When people are buying their phones outright they're usually going to use it with a pay as you go sim or a cheap contract they already have. Depending on your useage, this can work out much cheaper for you than £50 "for the phone" and, for example, an 18 month £35 contract.
Myself I got mine from Vodafone on an upgrade by calling them up and telling them I was leaveing. It seems to be the only way I can get a decent phone from them, because if I walk into a shop and ask them for an upgrade all they offer me is seriously bog standard phones, worse than the K800i I was on previously.
I pay £27 a month contract, and a £5 per month for 500mb data. Granted this is a 24 month contract, but the phone was free, and I can upgrade after 9 months.
Over 24 months that's a whole £768 I've paid to vodafone.
Compare that to, say, paying £500 for the phone and having a simple £10 contract for 24 months... £740.
I just don't have the money up front to stup for an unbranded phone, so I went with what I already had setup and got what I wanted, and I'm happy. It's just that £500 for a phone sounds extortionate, but when you factor in how much you actually pay to the carriers over the lifetime of a contract you can see that there isn't much difference in paying upfront or taking out a contract in the end.
I got mine from mobiles.co.uk on O2 (yeah I know NOW the reception is poor) for £29.99 then £35/month for 18 months (600mins, 500text, unlimited [yeah right] web).
I can confirm its unbranded, unlocked and quite silver.
I didn't think I would like the silver one but actually I love it. Only catch is as others have mentioned, the battery cover keeps coming loose.

I dont think £10 contract will get you internet access so you'll be paying at least £15 per month, so the deal isn't as good.
I went through all this when I changed and decided to go with a new contract.
I also got the phone for free, free headset and pay less than you with VF, sweet talking in the shop works wonders when there's sales targets to meet!
Hi
I use the phone as a modem every day on the train, transferring about 2.5-3GB/mnth. I HATE to think how much that would be on P&G!!!
I've had t-mob stores bend over backwards to meet or exceed the deals that are available from the online crowd, so its worth haggling.
Nigel
Expansys will sell you one on a t-mobile contract
Hi
Looked into this suggestion (sim free phone then cheap contract) further. I never use the phone for phone calls, only for texts/internet.
Comparing Voda with Voda...
Voda do a base SIM-Only 30-day rolling contract for £10/mnth (75 mins/500 texts), then you can add their 'unlimited' (aka 500MB/mnth) internet for £7.50/mnth. Works out quite favourably:
Sim Free Phone: £500, 12x10+12*7.50 (for internet) = £710
Voda 12 month contract for phone:
Phone: £300, 12x30+12*7.50 (for internet) = £750
Voda 18 month
Phone: £150, 18*35 (internet included) = £780 (but your getting an extra 6 mnths line rental here)
So... I never thought I would buy a phone sim-free, but that's what I am doing. There is a saving over a 12 month contract for me (I don't use many minutes) + I can tell voda to get lost with 30 days notice. Of course, if you take the contract out over 18 months then you are essentially getting an additional 6 months service for 780-710 = £70 quid - in 12 months i'll be wanting a new phone anyway.
I pay T-Mob £35/mnth at the moment including WnW Plus (3GB/mnth). I'll get a USB dongle from them for my on-train internet access (£15/mnth). Saving myself 2.50/mnth over what I pay at the moment. This has several advantages:
- Non carrier branded phone - fetches more on ebay when I am bored with it!
- Don't have to wait for voda to release SE's updates
- Just a 30 Day contract with voda
- No Messing with bluetooth-pan for net access while on the train
- If no T-mobile coverage, I can use laptop with vodafone via BT PAN
- Superior 2G coverage for weekends in remote parts of Scotland
- Still enjoy superior 3G coverage and speeds of t-mobile on laptop
- No more feeling that I have to wait for contract to expire before upgrading - and finding that upgrade deals are poor!
Only trouble is, clove.co.uk have sold out and expansys want to rip me off (£584). I ordered from SuperTrader.co.uk (£500) (reasonable pricegrabber etc ratings). I phoned before and agreed that they would ship fri for delivery sat (today), paid the extra £8 for Sat AM special delivery, and the barstuards never bothered to stick it in the post - despite having charged my card for the device and for £15.99 SAT AM delivery.
So... DON'T buy from SuperTrader. I have cancelled my order, and will wait for clove to get them back in again.
Nigel
Just ordered mine with o2 on the phone. Arrives tomorrow or Monday
YAY!
Free phone, 18mnths, £29.83 p/m, 600mins, 1000txt, unlimited broadband.
Bargain!
Did you order online? if so which site?
No, I just called o2 and ordered it over the phone!
Let the fun begin, I just called o2 and yes its available but they want me to sign upto a £45 per month contract to get the phone free.... I told them where to stick it.....
Lets see what others get offered....
Called again using a none o2 number and number and was told it's not available online or over the phone, when I quoted the above price he said that it was incorrect and the £29.83 price is for a 24 month contract. Maybe worth checking the contract period.....
So in summary if you call 202 from a o2 handset they are available, but if you call 08442 020202 they are not available. Instore & business customers can also buy them....
Well, I think I got it cheaper because I am an existing customer. I called upgrades and they said £45 per month contract to get the phone free. I called up retentions and said I was leaving and they said £30 per month for a free phone

Went into an O2 shop a few days ago who said they don't do HD phones. Not too worried as I got mine delivered yesterday on t-mobile for £34pm, free phone and web. Their loss.
The o2 shop where I am said they would be in on Monday 23rd
They released it this morning actually I rang to see what they would offer and managed to get one for free on £35 a month for 18 months.
Now I have a spare HD2!

Thats cause your on a 24 month contract, you save about £5 a month by going on 24 month over an 18 month contract.

So is it 24month instead of 18 month, isn't it?
Ah yes, you're absolutely correct, my mistake! It's 24 not 18
I just got a really good deal IMO.
I was on the simplicity £20 contract (so the same 600 mins, 1000 texts and unlimited internet)
And they offered it to me...
Stay on the same 1 month rolling contract @ £20 a month and pay £277 for the phone.
I went for this, because 1 month contract and £277 works out brilliant for me! if another phone comes along... say a tegra device or WM7 in March then I can upgrade as normal when ever I want.

Mine understanding for deal is that you are acturally tied for 12month.
it is simplisity deal, but there is a minimum period of 12month......
please check
I did check,
His first description of it, was instead of going on a contract I can buy the phone outright from them at cost price.
I then asked, so if after 2 or 3 months I wanted to upgrade as normal to a different phone, I could? and he said yes.

That's pretty good!! Which number did you call?
202 from my mobile then when through to "I want to cancle my contract" department.
My friend current has tmobile flexplay with a cliq:
Android plan
Unlim minutes
unlim text
So they want to know if they can upgrade to the Nexus or will they have to get a new plan.I let them play with mines and now they want one too.Any help is appreciated.
tell them to call T-mobile and ask
most likely no discount
I'm making a lot of guesses, because I don't have all the needed information.
But with that in mind, they would most likely not be eligible for upgrade pricing. and here is why I say that.
The Cliq is not even a year old, they most likely signed a 2 year contract for the cheapest pricing on a phone. That means that it is 22 months from when they got the phone until they are eligible for a full discount again. It has not been long enough for them to get a discount again. Even a one year contract has to be 11 months before another discount.
If they are on Flex Pay Monthly they are never eligible for a discounted phone because their account is month to month.
The only way that they would be eligible for an upgrade is if they signed a two year contract for a phone at least 22 months ago, and then paid full price to buy their Cliq and added the android data service. Not likely but possible.
Hi.
i need to get out of my tmobile contract because i am paying over 370$ dollars per month on average and i have horrible service. i understand i can use the federal universal service charge to be let go of my contract because it clearly says in my bill and in my terms of agreement that if it changes, i can cancel my contract within 14 days of it changing. but the problem is that my federal universal service charge has been stuck at 3.70$ for 6 months! is it like this for you? why is this happening and how can i get out of my contract?
thanks.
Iam not good at contracts but if u break it up pay early termination fee and i dont think it's gonna be worse than 370$
Sent From Galaxy Bigger Than Yours.
Depending on how long you've been in your contract you will have to pay cancellation fees per line.. But how the heck are you paying $370? I got 5 lines, 1500 mins for 3 lines and unlimited minutes for 2 lines, with 5gb plan for 2 lines and 200mb plan for other 3 and i only pay $205 with Tmobile and the only discount i have is 15% military
