No idea... perhaps one of the Exchange experts can offer an opinion ?

Yeah was talkin to a admin right now. The wierd is that it's working with my uncle's Qtek 8020 to sync but not with mine Qtek 9100.
Is there any different settings you need on the exchange server becuase i got Active Sync 4.1 and he got the old WM2003 and probably a older Active Sync.
The two accounts's we are trying looks exacly the same and got the same permissions.
Can't check up wich versions he got right now becuase the phone is at the service point.
Anyone having any ideas what it could be?
Do i need Outlook installed on my PC?

Ok, so I have a server running in my office with MS Server 2003 and Exchange 2003 SP2. As of now, I do not have any SSL certificates on the server. I feel this "might" be the problem, but i'm too inexperienced with Exchange as of now, and Active Sync for that matter. I want to be able to Sync of the GPRS network while on the road with my exchange server to download new e-mails and sync up my sent e-mails, etc etc etc. The problem is when I try to sync it seems like it will work, then gives me a message saying that the domain url is incorrect or something like that. I played around with it a lot before I found this forum. If you need the specific error message and I screw around with it again, because as of now, I just have it syncing with my local computer. Thanks. Also, if I do need SSL certs, where do I go for that...on the cheap side or even on the free side!
Shoot me a PM with some details. I'm about to walk out the door for a few hours, but I can definitely help you out.
Specifically, make sure you mention what errors are showing up in the Event Viewer.
I'll PM you tomorrow, because Cingular dicked me out and forgot to setup my unlimited data plan so my bill is 390 bucks, til i call and have them change it. But I need them to change it before I start messing with this again. So i'll hit you up sometime tomorrow probably. Thanks.
Ok, first you do not need SSL unless your server requires it. Just make sure the SSL check box on the first settings page (on the device) is unchecked.
Next, go to whom ever is in charge of the server (system administrator or something) and check the exact domain name (required on the second page). The domain and the server address are different urls (at leas for my company). Something I didn't know at first and was unable tho sync.
Hope that helps.

Not really, I am running the server myself. I'll mess around with it more soon, once i get this issue resolved with Cingular, I just thought maybe there was a specific way to get it to work.
I hope you don't resolve this via PM.
Our new Sbs/Exchange server arrives today and I'd like to see how this works out.

we've been succesful at using 8125 and Exchange since 03-06.
Make sure you have PDA connect
Exchange 2003/SP2 (with or without SSL will work depending on your security requirements)
Active Sync 4.1 or greater.
Works better with 2.25 ROM
Older ROM 1.8 after unsuccesful attempts to sync will reset the server config schedule to Manual

what is PDA connect? I have Exchange 2003 w/ SP2. Where do I check to make sure the security requirements are right? Running Active Sync 4.1 with 2.25 ROM. Thanks
Here is a great place to start:
http://www.mobilegadgetnews.com/index.php?showtopic=6106&hl=exchange
It is based on pre-push, but the setup is really no different. You do need SP2 for Exchange 2003 and a WM5 with the MSFP installed to actually get push, but there is no additional configuration to switch from pull to push.
ok, so finally here is the info. Hopefully you can help me.
The error on my phone is: ActiveSync encountered network problems or an internal server error while synchronizing.
Support Code: 0x85010015
My info.
Server address: mail.getztek.com (i tried mail.getztek.com/exchange but it removes the exchange part)
SSL is OFF.
Username: Zack (and I tried getztek\Zack as well)
Password: it is right
Domain: getztek (this is the NETBIOS name)
Let me know if you can help.
Ok Denial, here you go:
0x85010015
ActiveSync encountered network problems or an internal server error while synchronizing. This kind of error is frequently returned when Exchange Server runs out of memory. Typically, this condition is temporary. Try to synchronize again later.

The server is far from being out of memory. There is over 200 MB of free RAM on the server. Just for sh1ts and giggles, i'm going to uninstall the Trend Micro ScanMail so that there is nothing else that could be interfearing with this.
lol, that doesn't help at ALL, thanks for the google is a great thing crap. I really didn't just jump on here asking for help. I googled the crap out of this.
Edit: I dunno why http://mail.getztek.com is showing the RealVNC thing. I never even installed it on that server...
I am sorry I tried to help you. Perhaps you will find the answers you need from someone else. Good luck!

I am not ungreatful you tried to help, far from it in fact. I just don't appreciate the sarcasm by just assuming I never googled this topic. If you don't help, then you don't help.
You need to lose the attitude. You come in here asking for help, don't know a thing about me, and assume I am trying to be a jerk. The first part of the post was help. The second was information on how you can help yourself, which is ALWAYS a better learning experience. Did you indicate you had done ANY research before posting here? No, you did not. You talk in circles around some very vague errors but not until the post I responded to did you offer any real information about what problem you were specifically having.
When you ask for help, try to be a bit more gracious to the people trying to offer it. Even if the answers you get are wrong, at least someone is trying to help.

your right, i'm sorry. Its been a stressful couple of days and trying to get this stupid thing to work is making me want to pull my hair out.
1) You do not need an SSL certificate for this to work, but if you are not using one to secure your server it is only a matter of time before the server no longer belongs to you. Secure your server.
2) Can you connect your device to your computer and sync with the server? Again, NOT syncing with your local outlook but with the Exchange server.
3) Assuming you are using a device wih WiFi, can you sync on your internal network over WiFi to the exchange server?
The first step is getting it to work inside your firewall. Then you can move out to OTA.
Can anyone suggest what I should look at to solve this?
Running HTC standard WM 6.0 -- CommMgr says that DirectPush is "on" but the only way I can get my MS Exchange email is to manually click "send/receive" for this account. I have 5 other email accounts all of which download per my settings, but MS Exchange does not? I'm baffled as to where to look to correct this.
Thanks!
did you open ActiveSync (A.S.) on your phone to see if there are any error messages? also, while in A.S., you should confirm that the sync "Schedule" has not changed to manual... and lastly, check with your Exchange Admin to confirm no changes occurred on the server side.
I once experienced that the SSL sertificate that was used to secure the communication with the server had expired on date. This caused push to stop working. There was a remark about this when I opened ActiveSync.

You need to have your exchange administrator install a new and valid certificate. Not much you can do. If your exchange server is using a self-issued SSL sertificate you can use the Enroll Certificate function in Active Sync on your PC to install the issuer (most often domain controller) as a trustet root certificate.

if your company uses OWA, e.g., Outlook Web Access, you should be able to export the certificate from IE. I've done this before; the trick is to know which certificate is used to authenticate your access to the email server.
Hi.
I have configured my HD2 to connect to my mailserver via IMAP. I can receive just fine but I cannot send. I get this error:
The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again.
My settings are correct. I use the exact settings to connect my Mac Mail to my server, and I use the exact same settings to connect my android phone to my server. But this HD2 with WM6.5 is giving me problems sending emails out.
For outgoing, my server listens to both ports 25 and 587, so in my pocket outlook, to use the specific ports I included it in the outgoing URL mail.domain.com:587.
I have tried all sorts of combinations, none seem to work.
Please advice.
Thanks
bump anyone? I know it's an issue with WM 6.1...but I have WM 6.5....any ideas?? I already called TMO and the tech I spoke with has no clue what to do...
hey anyone care to chime in?? Really need to get my IMAP sending emails....
Thanks

I've seen a few posts on T-Mobile's HD2 forum where some people had to change the connection used by the SMTP server in Advanced Settings. Don't recall if it should have been "T-Mobile Data" or "T-Mobile Internet".
Thanks! Uhmm... any link you can point me to? I'm really lost here and I've googled for days without any feasible solution. I've found a microsoft patch for the same exact issue but it was for WM 6.1 not 6.5....
thanks again.
I'm actually having the same issue with my gmail account. I set it up and it doesn't take my password. I've verified its the correct password by going to gmail but its still not taking it.
I don't think its a carrier issue as its doing the same thing with wifi.
I'm having the same issue, I can recieve, but cannot send. I ask TMO CSR, but they couldn't help me.
I think the problem is the pocket outlook program itself. I installed flexmail and it works fine, although I do not like flexmail's interface.
Any suggestion?
If it helps we are trying to connect to a mailenable mailserver.

You can set up e-mail accounts with hotmail (Microsoft Live), yahoo, gmail, etc.
The yahoo account should be set up as an IMAP type account, although you can manually set it up as a POP account.
I would suspect that you are having the Exchange account prompt is that you have selected 'mail' when you ActiveSync your HD2 with your computer. Thus the phone is trying to connect to an exchange server when not connected to your computer.
ok..sounds good so can you give me some steps..where to do what..just the general steps..not for every provider
Much appreciated.
so first open outlook on mobile(or!?)
2. do tjis

So what to do now? to make it possible?
Go to the email tab in Sense and go Menu, Add Account. It gives you plenty of options, or you can just go to "other" and enter pop3/imap information that way.
thnks..will try.
