I've been troubleshooting a problem with audio playback on my Apache.
When I listen to my WMA files from Yahoo music, they are distorted withe a lot of pops, crackles, and skips.
It only happens when I play from my San Disk mini-SD and only on protected WMA files. Mp3's play fine and if I put the WMA files on the PPC, they play fine. Both the MP3 and WMA files use the same 192kbps encoding. I tried two different cards with the same results: a 1 GB and 512K. I even exchanged the device but there was no difference.
Why would Mp3's play fine and not WMA's? Any idea?
i've been playing wma files (from Napster) on my 1gb mini sd card with no problems at all

Hi...
why is it that when i play a movie on WIndows Media, it lags? like it skips.
the file im playing is a .wmv file. This movie is stored on a 1GB SD card. is it because i have too much stuff on my card? i have used about %50 of the card. please help.
is there another player that doesnt lag. or is the problem with me having too much stuff on the card?
pocketMVP have an cache option you can turn on but i dont think it support wmv but most people get divX and mpg anyway
also make sure the video size is not much bigger then what the screen can display otherwise it just require tons of extra transfer which is not being displayed
still need help
Hm, i'm using Gsplayer or WinamPAQ for audio files. In my opnion they are the best.
I had the same problems with hi-res ish large downloaded .wma files aswell.
The reason is stated above.
If you rip the wma. file to something your ppc can handle you wont have a prob.
Suddenly, after install of WolfAlarm, I lost the support to play mp3s as my ringtone. Even after a hard reset it did not matter. Is there another way?
Hi, happened to me as well. I never got mp3's to play as ringtones but I could use WMA files as ringtones. You can convert from mp3 to WMA format with ease (windows media player can do it). Must admit id rather still be able to play mp3s as ringtones though.
Jez.
Update: I just realised when playing around that I CAN actaully play mp3's as ringtones, they just have to be under 2 meg in size. I can use WMA files of any size though.
Well, i cant play neither mp3 no wma
Can play only wav but they large in size
Any ideas?
When I play back music on the Tytn from storage card on Windows Media Player through the speaker of Tytn - skips and stutters during playback of song.
Anyone have this problem or is it my storage card?
Thanks appreciate the help.
I don't have this problem (MP3 or WMA).
Try to copy the files to internal storage and play it from there. If it work, your SD-Card coult by damaged or simply to slow?!
My Wizard used to suffer this problem until I bought a new, high-speed storage card. No more problems now
it might be worth formatting the stick and re-transferring the files back onto it. Make sure you don't transfer the files seperately at the same time. This can fragment the files and cause stutter.
You can highlight all the files you want and send them across in 1 block but not individually more than 1 at a time - if you know what I mean!
Just finished updating my Zune music collection to wma lossless for better quality sound on home system. Will the lossless wma files sync to the Focus at full bit rate or does it get compressed before it goes onto the phone? My collection is about 23gb lossless so I could fit it with room using a 32gb micro card plus the 8gb internal storage. (assuming the card issues get sorted out) If it's auto compressed, I'll probably go with a 16gb card instead.
There is an option in zune to turn off compression.
Settings->Phone->Conversion Settings
Select "Only convert media files that aren't supported by the device"
I haven't tried yet, but there's no reason it shouldn't play WMA Lossless. My Zune HD and Zune 80 before that both played WMA Lossless just fine - although tracks won't play with zero gap in between them all the time.
Thanks! I'll see if it works and post the results. I'm getting the phone as soon as the expansion card arrives.
Looks like songs are limited to 320 Kbps when transferring to the phone. I checked "Only convert media files that aren't supported by the device" under conversion settings then sync'd the phone. My approx. 22gb of music is taking up about 10gb on the phone so it must be automatically compressing to 320 kbps.
I had the same experience. My Zune HD will take WMA lossless and not convert the files but the phone converts it to a max of 320kbps.
Hmm... it should handle lossless as the list of codecs/rates are at
http://wmpoweruser.com/updates-code...ows-phone-7-released-xvid-and-divx-supported/
Of course should handle and will handle/transfer are two different items it seems
Already posted this over on the Thrive forum nut haven't had any input. Thought maybe someone here could make some suggestions.
I have several movies and music videos converted to MP4 using DVDCatalyst. Some straight from the DVD, some from .avi files.
In my Thrive I have a 32gb, Class 6, SanDisk Ultra 20 mb/sec SD card.
Any of my files played from the SD card have the audio out of sync with the video. However, if I place them on the internal storage they seem to play fine. I took one video convert from an AVI, tested the AVI and MP4 versions on my desktop, both played fine. Copied to both internal storage and the SD card then played them one at a time using the native player. Repeat several times.
Everytime when playing from the SD card, the audio was out of sync. Sometimes it was close, but never totally in sync. From internal storage, never a problem.
Is this a native issue? Do I need a Class 10 card? Different video player?
I hate to have to put all my videos on internal storage.
Suggestions?
TIA!

On my class 10 I notice no problems, and probably just a read write issue.
Sent from my Thrive, rooted and looking for more.
Yesterday I installed the trial Dice Player and Tegra2 plugin. Only had a few minutes to test but it seems to work well with no sync issues. Going to get the full version and test as time permits.
