[Q] Audio Sync on Videos From SD Card - Thrive General

Already posted this over on the Thrive forum nut haven't had any input. Thought maybe someone here could make some suggestions.
I have several movies and music videos converted to MP4 using DVDCatalyst. Some straight from the DVD, some from .avi files.
In my Thrive I have a 32gb, Class 6, SanDisk Ultra 20 mb/sec SD card.
Any of my files played from the SD card have the audio out of sync with the video. However, if I place them on the internal storage they seem to play fine. I took one video convert from an AVI, tested the AVI and MP4 versions on my desktop, both played fine. Copied to both internal storage and the SD card then played them one at a time using the native player. Repeat several times.
Everytime when playing from the SD card, the audio was out of sync. Sometimes it was close, but never totally in sync. From internal storage, never a problem.
Is this a native issue? Do I need a Class 10 card? Different video player?
I hate to have to put all my videos on internal storage.
Suggestions?
TIA!

On my class 10 I notice no problems, and probably just a read write issue.
Sent from my Thrive, rooted and looking for more.

Yesterday I installed the trial Dice Player and Tegra2 plugin. Only had a few minutes to test but it seems to work well with no sync issues. Going to get the full version and test as time permits.

Problem with WMP and long movies

Hi guys,
I've converted an HD movie to [email protected] mp4. The movie is 1h:31m long and is like 683MB. When I copied it to my sd card WMP can play it. It lags way too much and the problem is not with playback speed, but that the movie is lots of MB and lots of minutes. I converted the same movie but only the first 2 minutes with the same settings as a clim which plays without a frame drop on WMP. The same scenes, which lag so much on the full movie file plays flawlessly on the 2min. clip. Also the 683MB file plays good at the end, when there is not so much content left. So this should be due to precaching or something like that.
I remember I saw something like: copy WMP files to SD card and the lag stops but can't find this thread now. Can you help me with this one? Any idea why the fact that the movie is 1h:31m bothers WMP so much and how I can fix this problem?
Note: the problem is the same with Media Panel.
I'd try installing SDtuneup if you havent done so already and which converter are you using?
I encode my vids at MP4 h.264 600x360 @ 786kbps and havent got lag on those long vids.
Are you copying the files over in sdcard mode too instead of activesync?
I did tried with and without SDtuneup, but it was all the same.
It turns out, that WMP could not read very good from that part of the card. Which was very strange. I copied the same file twice on the SD card and the second copy worked fine. Very strange problem.
I decided to format the SD card and for now it seems that WMP does not have any reading issues, so far.
And the strangest thing is that I could copy the problematic file back to PC from X1 with more than 6MB/s speed. So it wasn't a read problem with the SD card, but just WMP had problems with it.
Anyone having such issue with WMP?

Videos Play Choppy.. Need Help!!!

i'm running a stock 6.5 unmodded and locked TMOUS hd2. when i first got the phone, videos ran smoothly. but weeks later, the videos became choppy. i dont know why. i turn off 3g, wifi, and set brightness to 20%. i also disable all tasks in the background. but videos still play choppy. why is this happening and what do i do to ply videos smoothly?
Are you playing the same video you played before, otherwise the problem might be with the file encoding. Moreover, try reinstalling the video player (if it's not the default Windows Media), or alternately, try another media player (like TCPMP).
If the video files are stored on your micro SD card and the SD card is old. It might benifit you to malefactors back up copy of your SD card on your computer and then reformat it using Fat 32. If reformatting does not help you then maybe thecplayer you are using is not such a good player to use with the video files you are experiencing problems with. The TCPMP player the other member posted above is a good player that supports a kids of video formats that the Manila and Windows Media Player do not. You can find the TCPMP layer her on XDA.

hey t-mag. i think its got to do with the video encoding. i say this cuz a couple of movies play smoothly off the sd card while a couple of others dont. so it could be a matter of re-encoding those movies that arent smooth.
as you know, i'm a newbie. when i go into file explorer and click to play a movie off my sd card, a program plays it in full screen by default. whats the name of this program? i know its not windows mobile media player.

That is the Manila video player, don't ask where you can find it on your HD2 as I never found it when I was running Win Mo, believe me I looked lol. If it is the encoding then re-encoding may just fix them. But like a I said in my last post the TCPMP player is great, I never found a video it would not play, and it has a full screen mode as well. If the file you are trying to play is a file in Windows Media format it will automatically open Windows Media Player to play the video and not the Manila player. You can open non Windows Media files to play with the Windows Media player by opening Windows Media Player and selecting open file then find the video you want and open it. Or you can go to freewarepcketpc.net and search foe file extension for Windows Mobile File Explorer. This is a add n for the defualt File explorer that adds the properties option and the open with option to File Explorer if you long press a file.

external SD, w/videos VLplayer

Im using the Vplayer. So I put a 16g micro SD card in my tablet, and I am putting movies from my PC on it. I read on here that I had to change the root folder in Vplayer to "/" instead of "sdcard". When I do it shows 6 different folders with ringtones, music, videos on internal card etc.
What i am wondering is there a way for you to have it just show the external sdcard? If not no biggy, just trying to make playing a movie for my kids a little easier. Thanks

Mp3 not showing up on mircoSD card

I have a 64gig micro SD card and placed music and movie files on there. For a day it worked fine..I was able to play music via samsungs music player and PlayerPro app. Now for whatever reason my phone does not see mp3 on my microSD card. I can still however play movies from my sdcard. Anyone have a similar experience?
I don't think the card is going bad as I can still play movies from it. I think it might be a setting issue.
Quick update. I can navigate to my SD card using My Files app and play the files but the stock music player or 3rd party music player cannot view the files.
Ended up reformatting and restoring sd card. Its a bit annoying since the phone was able to read the sd card still.. just the apps was not able to see whats on there.

Putting movies onto SDcard?

Hi guys,
I have a 32GB SD card which is formatted in the TN7. I can remove it and put it in my Mac and copy some movies (under 2GB each) onto it, but I keep getting an issue where I can move over about 2 or 3 movies, but after that it doesn't want to know!
Sometimes they are on the card but when inserted into the TN7 and trying to play the movie it doesn't work!
I have tried both ways of using the Android transfer program as well as removing the SD card from the tablet and putting it in my Mac but still get the same problem.
I don't want to put them all on the TN7 as it will take up alot of memory, cant transfer them to the card in either with the SD card issue.
Running all latest software.
Any other way to try it?
Cheers

Hmm, interesting issue. Can't say I know the solution but what I would try next would be to see if the problem duplicates when using a different PC, maybe a windows machine for greater difference. I've personally moved 6 movies in one go and had them all appear and play on my TN7.

I tried to do the transfer in Windows (under VMware) but when I copy the file over I get a message saying that I might not be able to view the file if I copy it over?! Some files work and others say they cannot be played.

MKV and MP4 files
Got a new 64gb card today and still get the same problem, transferring movies to it lets say 6 of them. 2 will work fine and other ones will fail to play.
What memory cards are you guys using?
Ok so messing around I put the movies I wanted on the tablets storage, then I got ES file manager and tried to copy them on to the 64GB micro sdcard, but when you go play the file it says movie cannot be played! I copied 7 over and only 4 play. Weird thing is they all play fine from the tablets own storage but copying them to the sdcard has some issue somewhere.
Hello. If you are plaing on built in player try mx player on sw settings.Im using mx player on 64gb sandisk mobile ultra without problems.
thanks, tried that already but the problem is copying the movies from internal memory to sdcard, they always 60% fail the other 40% work!
Thought I would just try this FakeFlashTest..
64GB
image hosting over 10mb
32GB
image ru
I can return the 64GB one for a refund
Try Hd Tune pro and check for errors in sd card.
