Voice dialling

Is it possible to use voice dialing? It would help with this problem of having to open the case to use the phone if I could set it to use voice commands. I see someone has referred to voice commands on the xda 1, but I can't find it in the help file, even though this is quite a standard facility on ordinary mobile phones.

Here it is for you:
http://microsoft.handango.com/Platf...30&productType=2&platformId=2&productId=90635
I am using it, and I love it.
but it cost money
there are a great many features that normal cellphones support that xda's dont
i suppose this is because as i see it the xda is a pda with cellphone not a cellphone with pda
not sure of smartphones are closer to cellphones optionwise but would suspect that they are
you are correct - it is a PDA with cell phone functionality... but it is worth it...
In regards to the MS Voice Dialing - one of the pluses - you do not have to do "tagging" - it will recognize the name from the Contacts... another very good feature - you can actually dial the number (like DIAL 5551212) and it will dial for you.
.... not if you are in UK (Amazingly) Windows 2003 does not support telephone numbers beginning with 0. Wouldn't you have thought that Bill would have at least spared a thought for us 52million citizens?

Can you explain further what you mean by this.
Quote from Microsoft Voice Command User's Guide
"International dialing formats (or dialiing any number starting with a 0 (zero)) are not supported; to dial an unsupported number format, you can create a contact with the number and then call that contact)"
Also voice command seems only to accept 7 digit or 10 digit numbers. They say that it will accept a 1+10-digit number, but what I think they mean by this is the numeral 1 at the begining. So most UK mobile (actually you have to say 'moble' for the lady to recognise it) numbers are too long as are all the landline numbers.

I've just installed FONIX VOICE DIAL into the XDA II and it works flawlessly!
It doesn't tell you what meetings you have next or launch applications (ala MS Voice Command) but I don't need all that. All I wanted was a voice dialer for when I'm driving and this software does it perfectly.
Voice Dialing can be done either by referencing your contact list "Call Adam Smith mobile" or you can use "Dial 001160343437656". No training is required but you can fine tune the voice recognition (haven't tried this yet).
Highly recommended.

Have you tried neuvoice navigator.
Supposed to work well in noisy environments, but does require voice tag setup.

Fonix flop
Bought and installed Fonix and dumped off MS Voice Commander, but Fonix is MUCH worse. I ended up shouting at the nice man inside my XDA2

Microsoft Voice Command V 1.5 On JasJar NOGO

Can anyone tell me of a way to get MS voice command v1.5 to work on the JasJar. I can install it but it does not work right. You can play the media player, however if you try to say call "whoever" the contacts comes up and its blank. If anyone has seen this issue please let me know.
Thanks,
Mike
Are your contacts on your SIM or in your devices phone book?
Works fine here by the way.
I have the same problem
Stu
They are on the phone not the sim. This is Windows Mobile 2005 not 2003

right, the contact summery comes up but it's empty - the content of the notice field you can see - and you can say "yes" and voice command is calling your contact.
MS Voice Command 1.5 is not supported for WM5

It is a bit sketchy
I can launch programs great, i can call people fine. change brightness.volume and I get announcements such as battery is running out
the only things that don't work is showing contacts and hearing the spoken callerid.
It is going to come down to waiting for an update
I thought mine was working fine too with WM5 but after several days of resets and minor other problems, I finally cleared the device and didn't reinstall VC and now it runs a lot better. so bottom line... VC 1.5 causes problems on the universal... although it seems to work ok.
Uninstall MSVC
Anybody know how I can uninstall it, and get it out of my settings control panel. I used the .cab installation.
I had to use the Erase memory icon in Programs... it clears the entire unit and sets back to factory defaults.
Please anybody try VITO Voice2Go on JasJar. It's a new voice control application for Pocket PC. Supports all languages.
I personally use this program on my i-mate Jam, and it works fine. Want to khow how does it works with Universal.

MSVC and Contacts
Has anybody overcome this problem? I just revisited this, and it does appear to work for everything, including dialing the contacts.... but.... I cannot get it to show a given contact. It will open the contacts list, even repeat back the phone numbers its dialling, but will not show the contacts individual details, at all.
Any feedback? Perhaps delete all contacts, and resynchronise them all?
Regards
Simon
It must be just the Jasjar as I had WM2005 on the XDA II and never had a problem.
I couldn't even get the US Version to work, I eventually got the UK version on and working but I have the empty screen issue in contacts.
Voice Command works fine for me. The contact is blank, but the program itself works fine
Well I guess it's better than nothing! I was always under the impression that Voice Command was actually integrated into WM5; seems not.
Hopefully 1.6 will address these issues...
Voice command work well with the 1.51
I have cyberon speed dial installed by default on XDA Exec, it works fine
Am I right in saying that "cyberon" is not the same as VC, you have to record something for every contact you want to use it with.
When you have alot of contacts, even the thought of doing this is stupid, maybe if it was just your family including Grandma that would be fine but when your running a business and your ringing different people all day.........
Maybe I am wrong, i have never used it......

so your saying there is a voice command 1.51. i can only find 1.5
link?
I feel the same way, I did a Google search and nothing, what is 1.51, are you trying to manipulate us into thinking there is a fix to our problems bought on by micro$oft.
Please let us know.......
Oddly it worked perfectly on my dodgy beta WM5 on my BlueAngel :S

Best Voice dial software ?

Hi Guys, i know hat this forum has alot of different voice command software scattered all over the place.
I just wondered what people thought was the best one for the xda exec (using bluetooth headset) to activate.
I have tried MS voice Command, which is very accurate but does not switch off the BT connection once it closes it's voice rec system. This means that all system audio is then send to your headset until you manually switch it off with the button.
I like the Cyberon voice dial app supplied but having to create voice tags for everything is a pain
I cannot get Cyberon Voice Commander 1.5 to install correctly and the version on xda-dev's ftp site is chinese
I want to know what people think of Fonix apps, Voice Dial 2.0 seems okay but is limited to only dialing, no full control so would like to try fonix voice central 3.0 buit cannot find anywhere to download this.
what do you guys think.....which do you use (if any) and which do you think is best ?

Parrot CK3100 Voice Dialling

I have a Parrot CK3100 Car Kit and an M5000. I used to have an M2000 and when I pressed the Green handset on the handsfree car kit, it let me use the voice dialling I set up within the Parrot. With the M5000 it takes me to the PDA's own voice dialling, which I don't have set up properly, and tbh I don't think is as good.
Is there a way I can make it use the Parrot not the PDA? One thing I've just thought, I upgraded the firmware on the Parrot, maybe that wiped my phone numbers from it, along with any voice dialling. Would it then default to the PDA's own method?
The last question. If I get MS Voice Commander, which lets you voice dial anyone in your contacts, or open any applications without having to record your voice in advance, is it possible to get the voice dialling to use this? This is obviously the best thing as you can dial literally anyone without having to pre-record your voice.
what version of parrot sw do you have ?¿?
Regards
Do you mean its firmware? I think the latest as I've used the update tool with my laptop on it recently.
Hi Andy,
I've also got the Parrot CK3100 and the M5000. The Parrot has a menu option (I think under advanced settings > voice control) to choose between Parrot or mobile device for voice dialling.
Without MS Voice Commander installed you will need to train each voice command on the M5000/Parrot. However I have MS Voice Commander installed on my M5000 with the BT registry hack:
Fire up a registry editor
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand
Modify the string marked "path" from the default \Windows\SDDialer.exe to \Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCMD.exe
This allows me full voice control (without training) for applications, dialling etc. I do have some isses with background noise when using MS VC but that's cause I've got a small car and it's noisy inside. Also the BT link and MS VC don't seem to work perfectly together as the speakers usually get un-muted when you have to respont (only muted when MS VC speaks or beeps) to the MS VC prompt which if you have the stereo on at that time causes more background noise. I find with the stereo off I get about 90% accuracy.
Also a handy tip I found in the Parrot forum here:
http://www.parrot.biz/forums/english/viewtopic.php?id=646
Get Pocket Informant which can send all you contacts to the Parrot in one go, read the post for info. Works for me.

Cyberon Voice Commander

Hi guys,
My Dopod 838 comes with a Cyberon Voice Commander which I find really useful.
The thing is, I havent been able to find its CAB file anywhere in the forums. I recently found one which is version 1.2... but Its just a voice dialer, it doesnt read SMS messages like mine does.
Ild like to install it to a T-mobile MDA phone I just bought. Is there a way to rip the application off my other phone?
Maybe give Voice Command a try?
I haven't used Dopod, but I've found MS Voice Command to be really helpful. I use it along with my bluetooth headset in the car. You can also get it to announce callers to you.
Not that I generally go around recommending the MS versions!
Cheers,
theregoesdave
