Hiya
i had an mda III briefly, but never got around to understanding all the rom stuff, but now i have a M5000 which im going to be using for at least a year, and want to know whats the difference between
the radio rom

and all those weird rom thingies i've seen being mentioned on this site. if i upgrade the radio rom, will i lose all my data on device?
cheers in advance to anyone who can spare a few minutes to enlighten me

i have o2 latest rom uk version i read all the time about imate rom is it worth upgrading to 1.66 imate rom or stay as i am and what are the differences in both roms.
thanks hobbit
id just stay with o2s rom to be honest mate saves killing your machine if it happens like.
just wait till theres a easy way to change roms like with the xda1
not worried about killing the machine as its insured against anything including spare parts  lol whoops ive lost it  just want to know which one is best and the difference in software if anything
lol all is good then lol , i dunno how you do the s/w updates to other carrier roms ect... and havent a clue about which is best at the mo im using the new o2 rom which i think is alrite but then again i never used the one that was on it 1st as soon as i got my xda 2 i upgraded it lol
I thought this might be a sticky but im looking for the best english rom to put on my t-mobile Vario
I had a look at the ftp site and there are a few roms for various Phone Providers.
Im sure I read somewhere a few weeks ago that the Imate KJAM rom was the best. This is the latest one, i think: K-JAM_WWE_216901_2169101_020710_ship.exe
is that the best one to go for?
TIA
Doug
Would be interested in a reply to this as well. I'm using a XDA Mini S from O2 with no issues, but I'd never complain if a change would result in better speed or freed up memory!
I'm going to buy the 8525 either tomorrow or sometime this weekend. I am currently using an 8125 and I upgraded to the cingular 2.25 rom. Just wondering if there are any other GOOD rom alternatives besides the stock rom. Also, any other general suggestions about this phone?

Hi all,
I have the t-mobile ameo running windows mobile 5
I was wondering if rom upgrades are specific to the device
There are a couple of mobile 6 live versions floating around on the net and
This web site like the xda exec and the Hermes rom upgrades
Would these work on the ameo?
Or does any1 know when there may b an official release?
Thanks
NO THEY WONT. Dont try it.
Wait for the official Athena WM6 upgrade from HTC.
Also, T-Mob may release it, otherwise wait for somebody here to customise the HTC rom for T-Mob Ameo's.
If your not sure, dont touch. You can brick your phone!
ok, ill leave it n wait...
thanks 4 reply
Heh, my post looks a little rude.. I was just typing quick to warn you before you messed up your phone.
Each rom has to be made specificaly for each phone. Any attempt to put a rom from one phone onto another will almost definately completely kill the phone.
Rom flashing is not something you want to do unless you are experienced. Your best option is to wait, wait, and then wait some more.
Even after the rom comes out, dont use it. Wait for other people to find all the problems. There are experienced people here who can deal with issues that could end up costing you a phone. When the upgrade has been tested and used by many people, then think about it. Read all the posts about the rom, find all the issues and make sure you are totally prepared.
Better safe than sorry!
WM6
That could be but where is the Athena WM6 ROM that was used to create the latest WM6 ROM's for the Universal?

Please take heed of the abpve advice. I didnot and have bricked my Ameo! Completely dead! I have had to buy an HTC X7501 to replace it.
Does anyone know what you can do to reactivate the Ameo or do i just use it as a sinker?
Bricking your Ameo
Warning don't try to upgrade your Ameo to Windows mobile 6. I tried using supposedly reliable download site and wham bam! my ameo is now a brick. I ended up buying another HTC x7501.
Does anyone know what I can do to reactivate my Ameo? Or do I just use it when I go fishing as a sinker?
does anything at all happen when you turn it on
Ameo Block
Absolutely nothing!
Sorry to hear that
If you could have accessed the bootloader you could have resurrected it.
Are you sure the battery has a reasonable charge?
Try swapping batteries with your 7501.
If not maybe you could donate ot to Project Athena

Perhaps because unlike you the other 1000's of Ameo/x7500 users have
managed to Unlock (SIM & CID) and flash WM6 many moons ago without
any problems. Hell the AP Touch WM6 rom is already on Ver. 3
Me thinks it was a PEBKAC error that killed your Ameo
alright so i have the 8525 from ATT and i upgraded it to WM6 about a month ago. it goes really slow and i just cant handle it anymore, is there a way to get the performance back? if need be, how do i take everything off my phone to get it back to how it comes from ATT.
any help is appreciated
are you using a cooked rom or an operator shipped rom?
i really dont know, i got it from
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=69&Itemid=26
i dont know what the difference is. gotta take baby steps with me lol
I think those are all cooked ROMs. I've always used to OEM AT&T WM6 ROM that came out, and it has always been really fast and stable.
well how do i make mine fast? lol it takes like 6 seconds to pull up the text messages or other programs...
or is there a newer better WM6? i have the rom vp3G 3.62.3 and radio 1.40.30.00
there's been plenty newer roms since then.......see the hermes mobile 6 forums, u just gonna have to try them out until you find the "perfect" one. or you can just keep trying flashing some of us addicts here
Try Shamanix`s WM6 Ultimate v2 FINAL.
Very fast and very stable. Love it
a few more questions for you guys..
what does an updated radio do? how does it help the phone? can any radio go with any rom?
