WM6 slows down my phone - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

alright so i have the 8525 from ATT and i upgraded it to WM6 about a month ago. it goes really slow and i just cant handle it anymore, is there a way to get the performance back? if need be, how do i take everything off my phone to get it back to how it comes from ATT.
any help is appreciated

are you using a cooked rom or an operator shipped rom?

i really dont know, i got it from
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=69&Itemid=26
i dont know what the difference is. gotta take baby steps with me lol

I think those are all cooked ROMs. I've always used to OEM AT&T WM6 ROM that came out, and it has always been really fast and stable.

well how do i make mine fast? lol it takes like 6 seconds to pull up the text messages or other programs...

or is there a newer better WM6? i have the rom vp3G 3.62.3 and radio 1.40.30.00

there's been plenty newer roms since then.......see the hermes mobile 6 forums, u just gonna have to try them out until you find the "perfect" one. or you can just keep trying flashing some of us addicts here

Try Shamanix`s WM6 Ultimate v2 FINAL.
Very fast and very stable. Love it

a few more questions for you guys..
what does an updated radio do? how does it help the phone? can any radio go with any rom?

t-mobile Ameo Rom Upgrade

Hi all,
I have the t-mobile ameo running windows mobile 5
I was wondering if rom upgrades are specific to the device
There are a couple of mobile 6 live versions floating around on the net and
This web site like the xda exec and the Hermes rom upgrades
Would these work on the ameo?
Or does any1 know when there may b an official release?
Thanks
NO THEY WONT. Dont try it.
Wait for the official Athena WM6 upgrade from HTC.
Also, T-Mob may release it, otherwise wait for somebody here to customise the HTC rom for T-Mob Ameo's.
If your not sure, dont touch. You can brick your phone!
ok, ill leave it n wait...
thanks 4 reply
Heh, my post looks a little rude.. I was just typing quick to warn you before you messed up your phone.
Each rom has to be made specificaly for each phone. Any attempt to put a rom from one phone onto another will almost definately completely kill the phone.
Rom flashing is not something you want to do unless you are experienced. Your best option is to wait, wait, and then wait some more.
Even after the rom comes out, dont use it. Wait for other people to find all the problems. There are experienced people here who can deal with issues that could end up costing you a phone. When the upgrade has been tested and used by many people, then think about it. Read all the posts about the rom, find all the issues and make sure you are totally prepared.
Better safe than sorry!
WM6
That could be but where is the Athena WM6 ROM that was used to create the latest WM6 ROM's for the Universal?

Please take heed of the abpve advice. I didnot and have bricked my Ameo! Completely dead! I have had to buy an HTC X7501 to replace it.
Does anyone know what you can do to reactivate the Ameo or do i just use it as a sinker?
Bricking your Ameo
Warning don't try to upgrade your Ameo to Windows mobile 6. I tried using supposedly reliable download site and wham bam! my ameo is now a brick. I ended up buying another HTC x7501.
Does anyone know what I can do to reactivate my Ameo? Or do I just use it when I go fishing as a sinker?
does anything at all happen when you turn it on
Ameo Block
Absolutely nothing!
Sorry to hear that
If you could have accessed the bootloader you could have resurrected it.
Are you sure the battery has a reasonable charge?
Try swapping batteries with your 7501.
If not maybe you could donate ot to Project Athena

Perhaps because unlike you the other 1000's of Ameo/x7500 users have
managed to Unlock (SIM & CID) and flash WM6 many moons ago without
any problems. Hell the AP Touch WM6 rom is already on Ver. 3
Me thinks it was a PEBKAC error that killed your Ameo

I'm GREEN !

Hi, just joined and see the tallent...
Just bought a Titan, well I think I did. Verizon calls it the "HTC XV6800".
Where to begin ? How to recover ?
Can you point me in the right direction for someone who is very green to start messing with the cell phone O/S ? I'm willing to put the time into it but don't know where to start.
Windows Mobile 6 Pro
CE OS 5.2.1.1238
Processor MSM7500-400MHz
Thanks
Ed
well if you notice a problem with battery life i would update it to the verizon wm6.1 update which can be found on the verizonwireless site
ppckitchen.org has a nice program called "BuildOS" which lets you build a rom to your liking in an easy simple manner which makes brewing coffee look difficult.
dont flash verizons updare.
look for dcds 3.3.4

If he is one of the people that dont want to mess with custom roms then he can use the stock one. I use the stock one and love it. I heard dcd is good but i also heard there are problems and i would like to stay with something i know things work on.
First of all DCD's roms have far less problems then stock roms. The only time I would ever flash stock roms is if I were sending the device back for warranty. It really is not hard to flash custom radios and roms as long as you take your time. It's just like following a recipe. As long as you wait till the end to add your own spices your family won't be pissed at you for screwing up the casserole.

O2 uk new rom (end of this month)

After weeks of calling O2 and moaning on and on about the locked old 1.43 rom today I have been told by O2 we WILL finaly have a new rom (i guess 1.72) last day of march!
Finally
We were suppose to have it 2 weeks ago...I wont be holding my breath about this...we will see...
Unbelievable how long it's taken o2 to give people an official upgrade. Thank the lord for xda-devs, eh? HSPL & freedom all the way!
i bet its 1.66 rom o2 are really slacking at the moment....
Any clues where it will be available to download?
Really now so what is this the third or fourth date that we have heard. I will believe it when i see it as they say.
and yes I am pessimistic, especially when it comes to O2 and updates...
Also MidnightDraven it will be on the HTC site or may HTC Pedia, if it gets leaked....
Ahh good. thanks for that.
Lets hope it turns up then.
I doubt 1.72 .. It's incredibly frustrating dealing with them. I understand the reasons, but they don't help at all. And after all this waiting, chances are that they have only been looking at 1.48 and 1.66....... O2 suck.
It's about bloody time too - I just hope they actually keep to their word this time
Has anyone else confirmed this? I'll try give 'em a ring after work later.......£10 says they will tell me a different date!

At least they might understand you when you mention "ROM" or "Update" as they thought I wanted a new phone, even after explaining it in an email with links to HTC's ROM updates.
Are O2 usually so bad at releasing ROMs? I have personally never flashed one before, but i've waited, as you all have, ages for an official update.
Yeh they are
got the wrong thread a little...
I must be missing something here but.....who cares? I have an O2 Leo and the only time I would consider using an official O2 rom is if I was returning it for repair like I had to recently.

Well I would like to flash my first ROM, and preferably one I know for sure will work. So I am quietly optimistic about the new ROM and the features it will have on it. Otherwise I will probably sit with the one I have for a bit longer before considering using a cooked ROM.

Install HSPL and flash any rom you want. Providing you follow the instructions there is absolutely no need to use a network rom, none of them can hold a candle to a decent cooked rom. You will probably never see WM 6.5.5 on any official network rom yet there are various cooked roms that offer the opportunity to experience Windows Mobile and capacitive screens working reasonably well together for the first time. Xannytech's Evolution 1.4 which I'm using is just one of them.

I think you have been the catalyst in my trying a new ROM, I have HSPL installed now and I am going to have a look around for a ROM to suit me.
Oh and by the way, loving the avatar, Bill is a legend!
any more news on if this just mightbe genuine?
Good luck, t-mobile promissed us the same thing by the end of this month and we got given the original ROM (1.43) probably because they thought , nobody will know it's not an update
I thought sod it so flashed hardspl and then the official HTC rom (1.66), gone from rebooting the thing 5+ times a day to once every 3 days or so (which I can live with)
I doubt 1.72 .. It's incredibly frustrating dealing with them.

They already released 1.72 for German O2.

I don't really understand, what are the benefits of flashing a new radio rom?

Anyone care to explain?
Flashing a different radio can give you better battery life, wifi, signal, voice call quality and maybe some other, I think...
How would I know which one is best for me?
Make sure you know everything about flashing first then just try suitable ones for your rom. There is some feedback in the various radio's threads but you'll have to work the search to find anything useful to you.
As new radio's are available i just try them. If they're no good i go back to the last one i had.
Remember to check which radio's are suitable for which rom's, there's only a few here for an HD2 so it's not to difficult. I used to have a Kaiser and there were loads available depending on what rom sys you had.
Are you on a custom rom or HTC?
I had a hard reset an hour ago so I'm HTC atm I'm looking to customize my phone the best. Also, where can I find Manila updates?

You cant update manila. You can either flash a newer ROM with a newer Manila Version (latest is 2015 i think as p.ex. used in Duttys HG 3.8) or you install some elements of the newer ManilaBuilds like the eReader, DokumentTab etc. (available as cabs here on the forum)
Greets
Its about the user experience... Picking an interface that suits you and what you use the phone for... Taking a good phone and making it fit you perfectly...
That's the quest of rom chefs and end users and most will flash a dozen roms to find the one that suits them...
I'm sure almost everyone here will agree it's well worth flashing custom rom's, they're far better than the stock HTC roms, just takes a bit of getting into to get the most out of it. A good backup and you can always go back to a stock rom.
No pressure....
Flaaash...flaaash...flaaash!
Tim thanks you've been a great help although I want the max manila home theme. Looks smooth, I want my phone to look good as well as comfortable and speedy
Also, most ROM chefs will say which Radios work best for that ROM, and then you just need t be sure it's working well for you signa-wise in your area.
I had a non reccommended radio for Energy ROM, and I found Manilla would freeze, the phone would hang and reception would drop. One radio flash later, all this went away (and it only takes a minute and you don't lose any settings, so no biggie)

A few of the more prevalent chefs cook various versions for example the energy rom i'm using at the mo comes as a Co0kie version, a max sense version and a standard manila version. Not sure there's any max ultimate roms being cooked as maxcy now has a new interface he's working on, the said "maxsense" and hasn't updated max ultimate for a long time. Co0kies home tab is far better and far more stable, max sense is in it's early stages, probably has more potential but i understand it's got a few instabilities as it is.
Take a look at the link in my signature at the energy rom version. Not that i'm biased though i have, and will continue to try all sorts of roms. When you flash it's worth having a look at the last few pages of the rom's thread and then watch it again after you thread. Generally any probs you have will come up and any probs that don't normally mean it's something you've done different.
And also worth remebering the chefs do this for themselves and share it with us, it's fortunate they'll listen to some of our requests but really we have no right to ask for anything. We help report and sort any faults and generally the chefs will incorporate popular preferences like the energy rom doing all the variants of his rom.
I have always thought of this stuff as a bit like, why do you "chip" a car... most makers make what they think is the best within their limits for their products... they want ease and minimum hassle or comebacks... but some very bright sparks are bound to come along and make it better.. I know when I brought a diesel car, after having nice sports cars before, everyone thought I was mad.. but by chipping it, my BHP jumped 50%, my Torque 35% and my MPG went up to around 60mpg on a good run... so the benefits are there if you are willing to take the chance and change a few things..
I am using Laurentius26 GoldEdition V2.1. I have played around with previous versions from the same cook but it all comes down to finding one that works well with your apps and your needs..
I have previously used many SPB products but found that the basic shell wrecks havoc from time to time.. it can work but not in the way that I want.. so I just dropped it.. all the other stuff works but it really is trial and error..
I am by no means an expert, my constant questions on here shows that, but I do appreciate what I have learnt from here and realised almost immediately that a cooked rom was better than a standard one but you need to find one that suits you..
I had horrible internet connection problems with my stock 1.66 rom and radio combination.
Flashing to radio 2.10.50.28_2, solved those problems.
So that is why.

I am from Europe yes.
I do not believe that flashing a radio rom enables the 576 ram.
I am still showing 448 MB ram.
