FYI, the Hero is a low temp beast!!!

Ok, so yesterday I had the pleasure of going to Cleveland for a football game. Being as I was leaving one wonderful wife and four children at home, I wanted to keep my phone close by. It was about 13 degrees at game time, with the windchill at about 0.
yes, I have insurance on the phone.
I kept it in my jacket pocket, checking my txt and other email and such and it worked flawlessly. Big ups to HTC for making a sturdy device that can handle the elements well.
also, the Sprint Navigation on the HTC gets major props also.
Browns won, they also deserve a head nod
heck yeah
Yeah, I had it out with me on a four hour walk in my jacket this weekend.
It was 3 degrees with a -16 degree windchill (cold)
Checked hero several times during the walk and it was fine.
Battery temperature got down to around 26 degrees from what I remember. (thanks to the curvefish battery widget I was able to see this quickly)
I was surprised the screen still looked really good, and took touch and swipes with no problem. (My old blackberry - 8830 - would become almost unreadable in the cold, and the screen refreshes were very slow)

awesome, i'll have to check that widget out... even though it's 75 degrees here right now lol

i live in medina and i was supprized they won i think the cold was on their side
I had mine out this morning when it was 4F. I needed to grab a quick pic of something. It kept coming back with blurry photos (in full sunlight). Otherwise, everything worked fine (well, except my fingers- touch screens don't work well with gloves on, or at all really, and it was insanely freakin cold).
the only time my screen has gone slow is at work. i spend time in a 40 below freezer with a -60* wind chill. after about 10 minutes in there, with my phone in my sweatshirt pocket, it will slow down pretty bad. doesn't take long for it to speed right back up though. it does way better than my 8330 blackberry in the cold.
i would test it's true extremes if i didn't care about having to replace it when i freeze it solid.

that might have more to do with the lense cover fogging over from the change from nice warm and humid pant pocket or coat pocket to oh my god its cold air. if you let it adjust to the temp the lense should clear right up. or frost over.

dead/burnt/stuck pixel?

my samsung epic has one dead/stuck pixel, it shows up in red in a white or green background. i've tried using JSscreenfix twice for about 10 min the first time, and at least 20 the next time, both times did nothing.
this is my second epic. the first one i cracked so i got a replacement with insurance. does this second one have a 30 day warranty from the time that i got it? it has been less than 30 days, i think

Yes, from the day you receive it you have 30 days.
Yeah I would return it ASAP.
My phone came up with a dead pixel a few days ago i flicked it with my finger and it went away.
My first Epic had a handset speaker problem. Returned it to Amazon.
My second Epic had a dead pixel on the notification bar. Returned it to Amazon.
My third Epic may be having microphone problems... God I hope not.
Three cheers for Amazon, though. They rock.

[Q] Blue Lines on the Motorola Defy LCD?

Hey guys, I woke up today to find that my younger brother had totally screwed my Moto Defy's display. I do not know how he did it, I think he placed it under something really heavy. But anyways these blue lines and dots have appeared on the screen and they have been expanding since the past 10 hours or so continuously. First the line was really small as I have pointed out in the first picture but it has increased in height but now it is increasing its width as well. Can I do anything to stop it from increasing, I think 3 days down the road it will cover the screen completely at the rate at which it is increasing?
P.S What do I need to replace if the lines appear everywhere, the LCD right? The touch on my phone works flawlessly!

Hi,
Those are what technicians call "dead pixels." Which means that the small pixels on your device are either smashed up (individually), or does not light anymore.
Yes, you do have to replace the touch screen LCD of your device, unless your Defy is still covered by warranty and can be easily sent over to authorized service centers for repair, root or no root.

One of these would do the trick...
How that younger brother managed to damage the screen without causing damage to other parts of the phone is a bit of a mystery. There is an air gap between the glass/digitizer and the LCD display so he must have exerted quite a bit of force to bend (!) the glass down so far.
NO dont buy a new display.
Remove battery and close back cover -
then put the phone into a plastic bag and close it.
the put it into the refrigerator for 2-7 hours
then put your phone under you pillow and wait 2 hours or until it will be dry again.
then put your battery back on the phone and check the screen.
if its gone then yay, if not put it again ..
the guide is not mine and was on this forum.
WORKED for me like a charm and now every thing just fine...
My Defy has some blue splotches very similar to the OPs. It happened after my daughter dropped it causing a single crack in the corner of the screen...
The post about putting it in the fridge is interesting. I might give it a go. Do you have a link to the original post that you referred to?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659250
look at the last post of page 1 and first of page 2.
search all forum (here) for "defy dead pixels fix" many posts about this.
and yes mine fell as well from 1 meter - display ok but was blue dead pixels which gone after that.

Sorry for the late reply, but I'll definitely try this tonight and let you guys know what happens!
Edit: I tried this and it has considerably reduced the blue spots on the screen. Only a small blue blotch is left at the bottom but way better than what was it before. Thank You
It happened to me and after a day they are gone themselfs

Thank you guyz I owe one to you! It really worked and saved my defy! Thanks alottt. I put it in freezer wrapped in a shopper for 12 hours, put it in rice for 2 hours and all the dead pixels are gone now. It's safe and scientific cause probably pixels get contract and start working something like that, who cares though Thanks
My cellphone before and after freezing.

Mine has also developed these blue lines. I suspect from a ten hour drive in 36 deg heat within the car phone cradle. Then rapid humidity changes with air conditioning. Thanks for this post, I'm going to give the refrigerator (not freezer) a go and will report back.
WOW
This really worked... my screen is fixed i froze my defy for about 8 hours, then i dried it up, then the blue lines disappeared

Try this app(Dead Pixel Detect and Fix) from the Play Store. Run it overnight(5-6 hours) with a full battery and full brightness. Your display should be fine by morning. I have used it twice for the same issue. All the best. :good:

blue dots on the motorola Defy plus screen
Hi all
In the morning,I slipped my mobile from about 2 meters. Its screen got blue dots which worried me a lot. I started searching the solutions on many forums. At lost I got the solution from here. I kept my mobile in freezer about 2 hours and waited for one more hour to come to normal temperature. Miracle!.. All of a suddenly, blue dots gone.
As an engineer, I didn't believe this.just I made a trail before I replace the LCD screen. I would like to thank to the people who wrote the solution and who supports this forum.
I would be more happy if give the mystery details technically.

Sivaji
Help with motorola BRAVO
Hi everyone. I have a motorola BRAVO phone which has the same config as DEFY. I am also facing a similar problem. I was looking for LCD replacement then I got here.
I want to ask Those who have tried this. How did you dry the phone ?
I tried to keep the phone in freezer for 2 hours. Then kept it under sun for ~2 hours. But the problem is still here.
Any reply will be appreciated about drying it up.
EDIT:
SO I tried it again. And it got worse. The lines expanded. I think i have to replace the LCD.
Also I have tried the "Dead pixel detect and fix" app. It does nothing .
