Well, i have send a mail to Piel Frama, i was wondering of they are also
making a perfect in leader build case for the Ameo or HTC, i got a nice

So let's wait for the good news
Dear Tidde,
First of all I would like to thank you very much for your interest in our

Nice. I also emailed Ruben yesterday asking the same question.
Maybe we should use this time to provide this vendor with some input. Request things we would like to see in an Athena case by compiling a list from interested members then send this to Ruben. What do you guys think about the idea?

Great idea.
First request has to be - magnets to hold the keyboard in the case, and not a nasty plastic sheath like on the otherwise excellent PDair case.
Belt clip...suggestions to Piel Frama.
Of course, we must have a belt clip.
No plastic cover for the screen please. I haven't had a case that has plastic for the screen that I've liked. I always ended up cutting out the plastic. I like using the screen protectors better and allows you to actually tap the screen without issues.
Place a plastic see through "window" on the case to be able to view the "status bar" when the phone is "closed". I would like to be able to see this area when having the phone closed while in its case.
Mesh covering on the speakers. I don't like to cover the speakers at all but would like a mesh covering to protect it without hindering the sound.
If I think of more items I'll post them.
Edit #1: No flap (closing snap or whatever it's called) on the case please. As with the original case, this isn't needed and I see most others have this. It just gets in the way and is annoying and not necessary for this phone.
Edit #2: Maybe a plastic insert for the clear plastic end of the keyboard to avoid scratches on the device. This is a bit stretching it but I'm posting the recommendation anyhow.

personally, i think most of the Athena owner won't really want belt clip, it's too heavy and big to use it that way, and also most importantly, there is just no suitable place to allocate the belt clip, if the belt clip is under the screen, then the surface is not flat anymore therefore you can't use the keyboard.
Personally, i think 80% that Piel Frama Case won't have a belt clip.
p.s. I know a few members here in this thread will want to prove me wrong, well, all i can say is time will tell.
The great thing about the Piel Frama cases is that the clip is optional. You don't have to attach it if you don't want to. If you do want the clip, you pop out a little plastic thingy and screw in the clip "wheel" and use a clip...so this solution will work for all...hopefully.
Edit: Here's an animated GIF of how the clip system works on their cases... http://www.pielframa.com/Animaci%F3n%20grande%20pinza%20super%20nueva.gif

I'm e-mailing Ruben now asking him to check out this post.
Well done, hopefully he will look here and see what options are possible as they go to design? I definitely DO want a belt clip, as where I work I need both hands, but would like the Ameo handy when it's needed!!
Tim
I want:
Mostly as per the PDair case - I like the protection at the front of the Ameo.
Magnetic keyboard attachment, magentic, slide or push clip latch to keep it closed.
Belt loop, or another method of attachment that doesn't leave a component on the case. No pegs.
I don't like the status bar, I don't "use" it per se. It wastes backlight, running the whole screen, and isn't visible in the case anyway.
Of course, I really want it to be Not As Good (or just the same) as the PDair case, so I don't end up spending YET MORE MONEY!
Man, don't you peoples' pants/trousers ever fall down from weighty clip ons? There's NO WAY I could clip the Athena. My pants would come down to my knees!

I actually wear pants that fit like they are supposed to.
For me, the three things I'm looking for in a case are:
1) Something like the pdair case covering the housing of the phone in leather so the keyboard plastic bit doesn't scratch the screen.
2) Clip/latch to hold the thing shut.
3) Magnetic keyboard holder.
I personally don't need a belt clip, but any company that made it optional would probably be selling a lot of cases at the moment!
P.S. Has anyone noticed that Proporta are working on a case at the moment? It's on their website, but sadly no pictures yet.
All good idea to refer him to this post.
The belt option is no solution for this type of device i thinks
indead to carry a brick on you pants is not the way.
I think there should be made a wallet like case with the option to take
also some memory cards and other stuff in it, indead avoid the plastic
holder for the keyboard.
this case looks very nice.
http://www.pielframa.net/texas_instruments_voyage200.asp
let see where they come's up with..
I think that a belt clip or at least an option to have one would be a great idea. Would mean that the case would appeal to more customers from a marketing side of things. I would wear mine on a belt clip at work and then prob put in my pocket in the evening.
I wonder if anyone would make a leather case just for the screen without the keyboard? Id like to just carry the screen around without the keyboard, yet id be worried about the screen being protected when in my pocket.
So funky new case is a great idea, lets hope and im sure it will be a smart case
i'm looking for pielframa's UNIVERSAL PDA CASE BLACK fit to the athena (perfect would be a seperate pocket for the keyboard).
A case for parts of the Athena
The case that comes with Athena is very good when you want the whole thing with you. What I would like is a case that allows me to only take the phone part, not the keyboard. Something slim that protects the screen. It would allow me to safely take the Athena with me when space is sparse.

what happens if you forget the ameo for one second and try to sit down ?
Hi,
maybe some of you can give me some tips.
I would like to exchange the housing (due to cracks everywhere). I also got a replacement housing.
I just tried to open the housing. I was able to detach the back cover, but was not able to remove the front cover as the screen seems to be fixed to the "touch screen" part of the front cover.
Can some body help me finding instructions how to change the cover of the device?
Thanks a lot.

So here's a review vid of the springs i just installed. any questions, feel free to ask.
SPRINGS- http://www.mcmaster.com/#9001t14/=bjgjja
due to requests I have created a tutorial on how to install the spring.
PRT1&2-
I THINK IM THE FIRST TO POST A WHOLE TUTORIAL ON IT. BUT YEAH ANY QUESTIONS JUST ASK.
cheers for that matey
let us know in a few days how your getting on with it and how easy it is to do
That's awesome, a how to video would be incredible and I will definitely consider getting one of these springs
Those springs are excellent, good work man. A how to guide would be real cool.
how to tutorail is what you want, how to giude is what u get.
my screen is kinda wobbly when its closed, would this help with that?
Definitely, my screen was kind of wobbly with the stock spring. When I changed to this magnificant ultra-compression spring from my link above, my screen if as stiff as can be. My opinon get it.
hmmm...i want to do this, but im nervous that imma mess up the phone...looks simple enough, but i've never taken apart any electronic device

Gosh this is ideal. My g2 unfortunately has a somewhat loose spring and this replacement doesn't look terribly difficult. If I might ask, where online did you get those blue separator tools? What size screwdrivers other than the #5 torx did you need?

OP: Nice work on the vids brah! (digging the slight pidgin accent)
Im so tempted to replace the spring on my G2, just afraid that i might mess something up and have a useless paperweight.
You can get the pry tools on ebay, here is a link

Ordered my springs today, ill let ya know how the install goes
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
alright, ordered the tools and the springs, hopefully this goes ok
Alrighty well you got me. Ordered off for the torx, pry bars, and springs. I'll get a precision screwdriver set at a hardware store as I don't think my gunsmithing screwdriver kit tips are going to be fine enough. Also their magnetic field is going to be much greater and though I am fully aware of how much radiation the phone is frying my genitalia with, I don't want to accidentally magnetize some vital part.
I am surprised at how simple the inside of the g2 is. Components are logically placed and you have relatively easy access to all slots and screws. This install should be a snap.
If you don't mind me asking, what ultimately led you to discover that this was going to be the proper spring for your desired size and tensile strength?
Next step after install: Case testing.
I just bought the springs as well, although I went ahead and got one that has the 25lb spring rate. I didn't want to overstress the materials and the snap so it should be ok.

I find this the most proper spring, because many have posted that these springs on amazon are the best. Unfortunetly, the springs were sold out. So I googled the springs with the same dimension, and stumbled upon stainless-steel ultra-compression springs. Ultimately stronger, last longer, and leave you smiling with results.

I ordered the same springs, i was debating between the 25lb spring rate or wait until smallparts.com had the their compression spring they were the same size but i realized the spring rate was 35lb. I also ordered some void stickers from ebay.
Great find on the springs. I know a bunch of G2 owners here that want their hinges replaced, so I bought 3 packs. Ordered my springs on Wednesday, they should be here Monday. I'll report back once they're here and installed. Did installing this spring fix your closed screen wobble by chance?
By the way, OP, there are a few other breakdown/reassembly vids out there, but yours is easily the best. Great vid. Very clear and easy to understand. Thanks a bunch.
Hi,
I have two damaged HD2 lying around, both with broken glass but fully functional touch and display.. I found some parts at parts4repair but no good tutorial on this.. Only disassembly of HD2 but not how to remove and reattach the glass.. Is it hard to do this for a noob?
Best Regards
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdOC3Xxo_k0
The disassembly videos are what you need, because the screen/digi/glass is the very last part to come apart, and you will need to heat it to melt the glue to separate the screen/digi/glass layers. FARRRR easier to buy a pre assembled screen/digi/glass, but possible with patience.
Yeah I already bought an assembled unit but I was'n carefull enough and broke the new one.. And now I don't want to spend much money again but work much more carefull.. Another question, is the glue already on the spare part or do I have to buy it seperatly?
sorry, i dunno, but i have read some threads where poeple use some kind of double sided sticky and a very carefull hand to bond them. Time to read through the (quite a few) replacing screen threads.

There is nothing like glue/adhesive on these spare parts.
That's what you need:
#1 double sided adhesive tape 2mm wide;
#2 double sided adhesive tape 5mm wide;
#3 sharp eyes;
#4 surgeon hands;
#5 a lot of GOOD LUCK!(or you can use a service-guy instead of this);
#6 AGAIN a lot of good luck.
#7 optional: a hair-dryer, cutter, etc.
NB
If you don't know how to use the above, then probably you shouldn't!
This is the way I fixed the wifi\bluetooth error with continuous rebooting on my Atrix.
I did not come up with it, and I do not guarantee it will work in your device, I'm simply sharing this because it's information that's hard to find and understand. I fixed my device in this way, so have others. I do not take responsability for any damage you might make to your device attempting this fix, and I do not claim it will work forever - it's been two days for me and still great!

All credit goes to him!
So, what did I do?
1) I cut out two rectagular pieces of plastic from a pill tin, glued them on top of each other with scotch tape. I think any thin piece of plastic should do.
2) Opened up my Atrix by removing screws with a T5 Torx screwdriver. If you don't know how to do this check out this teardown by ifixit: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Motorola+Atrix+4G+Teardown/4964/1
3) Slightly raised the motherboard and placed the plastic rectangle under it, with a little bit sticking out into the battery compartment.
To my amazement it worked, it is still working.
I wanted to tell you guys why, but I don't know. Perhaps one of you guys wants to experiment applying pressure to each component separately to find out the culprit?
Also, I'm curious to know if this will work for all of you, or just some of you.
Here are the pics:
This last one is the piece of tin\plastic with tape, side by side with a pencil for scale. Its not the tin I used, but its basically the same, but the one I used has white paint, I don't know if should make a difference. If you're worried about shorts just cover the whole thing in tape or cut plastic from a bottle or something.
The first two are how its supposed to look in the end.
[EDIT]: Here are some more pics:
This is the piece of plastic I used. It doesn't show, but it is very thin, one milimiter thick, if even.
These are of the open device. In the last one the plastic piece is a little eschewed, but you get the idea.

Huh. This is similar to the fix some people did with the digitizer problem. Seems like the the connectors on this phone tend to come loose, to where pressure in the right direction will fix it.

It's literally as simple as opening the atrix and placing the plastic under the motherboard, I don't think it gets any easier then that. But I'll try to take more photos.
As for that video, there are reports of people killing their mobiles by breaking the piece holding the battery or killing the nearby ICs trying that. That guy is just too rough. Also, it doesn't show the battery actually being replaced. If you wanna try to replace the battery, better do it gently and stay clear of that video
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
If the solution is to apply pressure to certain parts of the board then it's likely similar to the infamous nVidia issues from around 2008 where the chips were getting hot enough to expand and brake the solder connection or in some cases, rip some of the pads from the board. If that is the case, be careful, as flexing the board the wrong way could eventually lead to making it worse over time.
I can't believe this actually worked. Been using my Atrix for the whole weekend on WIFI. Also finally been able to use my Lapdock properly.
Thanks so much for such a simple fix.
If its any help to anyone, I ended up using an old debit card, as its seems the perfect height to give enough pressure on the board.
It did take a few goes, but as long as you persist with it, it works really well. Plus no more over heating too.
Thanks again
holy crap. 5 minutes and its fixed! thank you
Cause found??
Hi everybody,
I might have an idea what causes the wifi errors. As the wifi gets fixed by changing the motherboard's position, the motherboard is not fastened properly. This might be caused by the vibration function that is located on the part of the motherboard you would need to move up.(see the location of the vibrationfuction in the attachment.)
If so, should this function be less used then?
Thanks Newbleeto! I was so frustrated with this issue. I was initially trying based that youtube video link by someone else which never worked for me. I later decided to try your solution and it worked for me the very first time Appreciate your help!
Thanks, seems to work!
What an interesting tweak. There some validity to this. The Atrix 4G is notorious for wifi, bluetooth, and GPS dropout. This is largely due to kernel and rom. However I have seem plenty of Atrix4Gs with loose antenna clamps. Usually I apply a little pressure in the outside of the clamp to reform it slightly so it will maintain hold on the reciever socket. Second thing I look at is the shielding around the mainboard. This acts as a heatsink and guard. If depressed in anyway will cause massive heating along with grounding. The antenna clusters are not well separated from RF interference from one another to begin with. Metal in general will restricted RF signals considerably depending on its frequency. The greater the frequency the lower it's ability to perpetrate materials.
From the looks of it your directing RF crossover and bounce back away from each antenna. This is a good thing. It also means as long as the phone is not held on its edge towards any receiving end it won't effect talk and data very much.
My experiments with the Atrix4G always had a bit of unpredictable outcome when it came to pressure on the ribbon connections. This would result in the screen blacking out, digitizer over sensitive or non responsive, failure to boot and so on. Pressure is a big deal with these phones so be careful.
Happy tinkering

I did this as well, and it's been working perfectly for over a week now. Battery life has tripled to 24h (back where it used to be, what a relief) and the wifi is back to being perfect.
In my case, I cut a small piece out of an old credit card and inserted into the section highlighted in the attached picture, inside to out (from the battery bay towards the side). There are flat cables/strips underneath and you probably don't want to insert your spacer material from the outside in. Make sure that the plastic strip fits completely underneath the board, otherwise you won't be able to properly close the back.
Thanks!
