Unlocked O2 XDA IIi - need Orange settings please

Hi
I recently purchased an O2 XDA IIi, which is unlocked from O2 and has been hard-reset to remove O2 features.
My SIM works as much that I can make/receive calls and send/receive text messages.
But, to access Internet, Email, MMS etc etc I need the settings for Orange (Ive tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=7306 but no luck).
Does anyone have the correct settings please ?
Is there a programme I can download (the type that is pre-installed onto Orange phones) as this may be the quickest solution.
I have tried Orange support on 3 occassions now and whilst they state they dont support non-orange phones they have tried to help - but without success.
Does anyone know if the hard-reset actaully leaves various O2 settings on the phone, which still need sorting.
ANY HELP WOULD BE GOOD !!
Thank You !!!
Paul
try removing the o2 profiles in connection
and making sure it's not set to autopick the o2 connection profile
and such
p.s. hardreset remove no o2 features as they are most likely loading in again from the extented rom when it's hardreset
guess you could try to edit the extented rom and remove the o2 stuff from it and hardreset once more
hi
there is no sign of O2 anywhere in the connections settings.
how can i find if O2 exists elsewhere ?
thanks
Paul
settings->connections->connections
should give you a menu with connections
something the line of
My IPS
add a new modem connection
manage existing connections
My work network.....
if you pick manage existing connections you can see which
connections exist and edit them
RE: GPRS and MMS settings
Hi,
Follow this link, Ihave uploaded all the available cab installs for UK carriers, contract and PAYG.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=26463
These are the latest version 2.0, as I have seen some earlier versions elsewhere on forum.
cab file not recognized
1st thanks to you all for helping all us newbie's.
I've checked the threads (hopefully), unlocked the xdaIIi with itsme's fine unlocking tool, downloaded the cab file for vodafone uk. But when i browse to it in file explorer i get a icon and msg to say that the file's not recognized.
And i need to run a program to open the file.
Also the file name is; "download" and not uk *****.cab.
Any ideas or am i just missing the point ?
Thanks.

How can i copy all contacts to sim?

many thanks
guys press ctrl + a to select all (highlighted) tap the screen for few secs. then chose save to sim.. hope this helps
Can you keep all the detail from contacts in WM5 when saving them to a sim? I thought all the additional info would be lost if you managed to save them to sim?
Regards
ive used the cntrl a function but all the contacts are not highlighted. and even if they were there is no option by holding down the stylus to copy all to copy to sim card. this could be because iv installed the latest i mate rom.

Ok Total commander gives you access to the extended rom using the method just posted above.
But if you want to actually have the extended rom showing all time, then you need this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33680&highlight=extended+rom
The extended rom unlocker will give the actual extended rom as space deginated extended_rom2 and its about 9.85mb size or something with between about 350kb and 2.5mb of .cab files in it depending on whether its a Qtek (Which has the least amount of files), I-mate, o2 or T-Mobile, these last two probably (along with Orange) will have the most 'junk in them.
Once you have ran the exteneded rom unlocker and soft reset your device it will be accesible through file explorer you won't need TC.
You can then go in and delete (be careful to make sure what everything does first) its your own responsibility, and remove what you don't need.
For example on the I-mate Extended Rom you cane remove Backgammon, Skype and the anti virus prog. There wasn't much on the Qtek Rom I just put on mine just clearvue and soemthing else inconsequential, there was no skype or antivirus, but I believe some Qtek roms might have this.
T-Mobile is abother story, there is a shedload of crap in the extended rom, ranging from a today screen toolbar to small progs, there is list knocking about of what each file does. When I changed from T-Mob to I-mate and then Qtek I just transferred the T-Mobile GPRS settings and the GPRS disconnect button .cab and put them in the exteneded Rom myself and let it run.
Also on I-mate Rom there are carrier settings that you can delete which won't apply to you, basically lots fo countries phone settings, like o2 UK, T-Mobile Spain etc etc, depending on where you are in the world.
You can't delete the I-mate .tsk todayscreens as far as I know, they are not in the ExtRom. The Qtek ExtROm doesn't have the extra .tsk's just default and the Guava Bubbles one.
If anyone wants the T-Mobile GPRS .cab and GPRS disconnect button .cab I can send it through msn or email.
that doesn't work either. I treid with the unlocker and deleted the files with TC. If i check the content no files are there, but when i try to copy other files to the ext. Rom it says that the volume is write protected. I softreseted several times also.
Any hint on that ? How have all the others deleted the files in extended rom ?
Regards

Might not work for you but it worked for me and a load of others. Once the extended rom is visible you can delete files easily, you don't need TC like I said. Its easier to put additional cabs into my documents sync them across and just run them.
Yeah, that's a pitty.... I have the Vodafone VPA Compact II, which is the Wizard 100 afaik.
Someone around here has the same model and succeeded in removing the cabs from the extended rom ?

vodafone(.de): how to show the home-icon?

Hi, i have some special interests regarding the home-area-icon by vodafone:
1. How get a HTC the info "you are in the home-area"?
I think in the OS is integrated a special program from Vodafone, that is reading the digital informations from the data packets from the GSM network (cell ID?) and compares this informations with the saved datas on the SIM card, so that the device can show the home-icon. Is it correct?
(So i know: O2 works with a broadcast channel. But VF and T-mobile works with a other System.)
2. If it be a special program: is it for different HTC devices (like "VPA..." or VPA compact...") identical or is the program for each VPA type specialy programmed?
3. If it be identical: whith cab files from Vodafone i need, to show the home-icon on my today screen?
Are specialy prerequisites needed?
4. Are this program and the settings not identical in each country, so i'm searching the german CAB files. (or the names of the files)
I'm grateful for each information for this thread.
Greetings Frank
1. You need a special SIM, wich is able to support the Service.
(Not all UMTS SIM Cards support this service)
2. Sometimes, the Customer Service have to send your a configuration Message to the SIM...
I have both
I know and i have from Vodafone.de the SIM card with integratet STK. VF also has send the configuration-SMS for the home area setting.
In the last time i have found informations about showing the home area into the display.
In the OS is a file (stk.exe) thats communicate with the STK from the SIM.
OK, if i deal a number, i have the acousic signal for the home area. But there isn't a icon in the Display, if i be in my area.
I think, i have a older version of STK-software, that's can't show the home-icon, because i have a WIZARD (VPAc2) with original WM5.
If i call the STk-Soft ("Vodavone-Services") it's only list SMS-InfoServices, MMS-InfoServices and Mobile fun.
I can't see other services. In the OS i also missing some files to get all services. In the WM6 ore on newer devices after the VPAc2 are more files for the STK. As sample: STK_uippc, tkitapp, STKTray, StkStarter.
-
Another Problem is the follow:
If i flash to WM6 (german), the STK-tool is absolutly not available:
- No shows in programmfolder and
- it's not run, if i call it manualy into the Windows folder and the other STk Utilitys shows clean windows.
Why work the original WM5 STK half and the WM6 STK not?
Thanks for answer.
Greetings Frank
new Information
Now, i have tested the follow:
new flash of the original Rom for VPAc2 (Wizard). After the flash the device is reboot and after the reboot it's say, that's want to setup the Provider settings after 3 seconds => Softreset on this message.
(No Provider settings installed)
After softreset it is shows a window named STK-Service: "Zuhause"
(i'm in my home-area. In this time i dosn't have tested the Displaying "Zuhause", if i leave the home area and come again.)
But it's only the STK-Service windows and not showing a icon!
I think, it's needed some additional entrys for the STK settins in the registry. But what?
By different HTC devices i've found different positions for STK-settings.
By one device it's call "STK", another device call's "Stk" and again by another device "HTCSTK"...
So are the different positions in the registry:
- [HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ OEM \ STK]
- [HKCU \ ControlPanel \ HTCSTK] (This is original from VPAc2)
- [HKLM \ Services \ Stk] (this was written by TMo-STK-Setup)
And every of this registry entrys has different entrys for the settings!
Now i'm verry confused!
PS: Someone has a tip for me?
I need the references for the registry entrys. But, where are this references to find?
Greetings Frank
registry references in the ddl files?
In this time i have searched in the dll files for references of registry entrys. i mean, that i have found some references. but i don't know, if it be registry entrys or program work codes. There are some for me known references and many unknown codes.
Anyone can give me the correctly registry entrys (with the path in the registry) for the STK services, so that i see the icon for the home-area?
Or anyone can help me to find the correctly entrys from the dll files?
greetings Frank
PS:
I can not find some new references of Registry-Entrys in the dll files for displaying a "Home"-Icon. Without help i must give up.

i did the opposite of hiding the sim contacts, changed the value to 1
this is to hide the sim contacts
mfrazzz said:
Not sure this does everything you want, but try this reg entry:
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone with your favorite Registry editor, then change / add a value of ShowSim with a value of 0.
or, in other words:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone]
"ShowSim"=dword:0
Click to collapse
change the value to 1, to unhide the sim contacts
