Smart Dialing not working - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

My smart dialing is not functioning...I have the 'Smart Dialing Options' item on my Phone Menu, but it doesn't bring up the options screen.
Is this because I did a soft reset during initial setup (to prevent all the o2 customisation)?
If so - am I missing anything else?

That's almost certainly the reason. I lost smartdialler when I stopped the ExtROM loading on my JasJar. (I was happy about that though!)
Unfortunately I also lost the i-mate phone dialler skin and with it, the ability to make video calls. And the MMS section of messaging didn't work properly either! I think some of the other cab's in the ExtROM are patches etc, so it's probably advisable to let it run...

hi,if you go through the cabs installing 1 after another you will find both the skin and the smart dialler,i have bits of the o2 rom and bits of the tmobile rom on my exec because i have a tmobile sim.ENABLE-VT-RTPLUGIN-0727-2-SIGNED.CAB seems to be these

Installing O2 settings without the O2 interface, on UK XDA2

Got my new XDA2 today and have resolutely set about making it my own. With the various guides on this site and others, I've modified the Config.txt file in my Extended_ROM to remove the O2 Active interface from the machine when I do a hard reset. All looks good.
However, this means that the default O2 settings for SMS, GPRS and so on aren't installed either. There are two solutions:
- Either someone knows how to stop the O2Active interface running while preserving the installation of the O2 network settings at a hard reset, or;
- Someone knows what the settings should be for the O2 service in the UK, and wouldn't mind helping me set my machine up manually.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help with either of these options!
PS. I got pass-through Internet connection working (when the XDA2 is docked) if the O2 settings weren't configured automatically, but never managed it with the thing O2-branded Another good reason to ditch the O2Active setup!
To stop active loading after powerup of soft reset simply remove its shortcut from the /windows/startup folder.
Perfect! Thanks, stryker. Didn't realise yet how all this works.
I took the opportunity to get rid of the Flashman apps from startup too, since nobody seems to need them, they eat into the precious 31 allowed processes, and I'll be synching all the time anyway. Anyone know of any other StartUp-folder items that can be safely removed? I'll be keeping the IA_Caller_ID for the moment, but what else could be stopped without causing a problem?
Any idea what USSD and stk are?
Cheers,
look in the comments at the bottom of this article.
stk = SIM Application Toolkit
BTIcon = BT icon in the Today screen
USSD.exe = unstructures supplementary service data (whatever that is)
Thanks to you too, tyfy. I've seen that article before in the last few days, but had forgotten it/ lost track of it, so cheers for reminding me.
I need to start building a list of all the tweaks I'm applying every time I do a hard reset. Things like removing these startup items, customising configuration etc. I've got a couple more days before my SIM is activated and I want to get it right before that happens. I need to get onto Handango too, and buy some of these power tools that people are raving about.
Got PocketQuake2 running last night, though It won't be staying - too slow, disk-hungry and difficult to control, but seriously cool!

Soft Reset issues

Apologies if this has been posted before but cant find it in the search...
1) On soft reset, I loose sms messages, even if I have closed "Text Messages" with any of the 3rd party "close" button programs.
2) On soft reset, I lose BT338 GPS connectivity, have to remove the device and port then re add - have read on here that you need to uncheck secure connection, I've tried it with both checked, and unchecked and still fails
3) On soft reset, whatever background image I have dissapears, but a portion is left behind in the drop down window.
4) Im with Orange, which of the cabs in the Extended ROM can I delete and still be able to use the phone.
5) When using Sprite Backup It does not back up either calendar or contacts, even though I have Personal Databases checked (or if it does, it doesnt restore them)
I dont want a load of Orange bloatware using up the memory, just enough for phone, gprs connection and WiFi to work.
Getting quite used to doing hard resets now, had issue over the weekend with one app causing Picture viewer to lock up!
Many thanks from a grateful Newbie!

Once you have flashed your phone and done the reset afterwards, letting the customisations install they are no longer of any use to you until you do a hard reset, at which point the ROM will reload and the customisations with it.
If you use backup software after you delete the entire contents of your ExtendedROM you won't lose a thing.
Have you got the right version of Sprite? I think the latest is 5.1?
If you have no luck with it, give SPB a try. I've used it on my Alpine and Uni with great success.
Have you tried flashing with the latest ROM for the other problems? I'm on the latest Orange ROM and so far things seem to be working fine with SMS, desktop and BT pairing.
Thanks,
Sprite is 5.1.0 Build 1417 - downloaded last friday
ROM version seem to be same as yours, 1.30.90WWE 02/24/06 so I guess thats most upto date Orange ROM (had device just under 3 weeks)
Grr @ self for not reading sig !
Another thing to try is the Qtek ROMs? Assuming you're unlocked of course.
Good Luck with it =)
Im not brave enough to unlock it
I absolutley adore the beast, and its spot on for what i need, just wish I could resolve the minor issues that whilst not spoil the use of it, nevertheless are annoying. BT338 gets hot fix in seconds, but takes me 5 mins to un pair then reapir the blasted BT connection
Going back to the extended ROM, what I meant was do I need all the cab files that are in there to use the phone, as in can I remove some, then Hard reset and have a smaller number actually load up.
I dont use the Orange today screen for one, and given that there is only 25Mb of usable program memory out of 50, I'm wondering how much of that is caused by TSR orange code that can be removed at build
EDIT: had a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...0&postorder=asc&highlight=reg+tweaks&start=25 but still non the wiser (someone listed the Orange FR cabs)
There is an easy way to do this that doesn't require unlocking the ExtROM, which you have to do to be able to delete anything in there.
When you hard reset, tap the screen, sync the touchscreen, cut and paste, then Windows loads up.
Right after that it will give you 3 seconds before loading the contents of the ExtROM. If you hit the reset pin during that three seconds it won't load anything in there.
You can then browse to it with a decent file manager and install the .CABs by hand.
But, don't be afraid of unlocking, it takes one program and two registry edits. Gives you 10MB of space to play with too.
Ah, my fault, read som much about unlocking that I thought you meant the sim card.
Yip, I've run the ExtRom unlocker and found out how to look inside
Not really that bothered about storage on the device, more about having a nice trim OS so that i have more program space as the kernel is smaller
Thanks again

WM6 Typhoon bugs and issues

It would be may be good to create a list of known bugs and other problems with the WM6 ROM for Typhoon. Please post here if you know about some bugs or strange behaviour.
I have been using this rom since yesterday and after few restarts, the phone remains stuck for about 3 minutes in the "mobile operator" screen during start up. Eventualy it asks for pin code, but after typing in, the time, operator and appointments information is missing in the home screen. I have flashed WM6 once again, but this phenomenon occurred again after application unlock and installation of basic software (xbar 2.5, pocket controller, Binaries smart explorer, auto keylock, smart time sync) + few restarts. Now I am searching for the reason if this is caused by some registry entry or by an incompatible software installed...At present I removed all the software but problem still present. Ready to make registry clean or hard reset...
lot of software incompability, mostly games,
-bug tcmp looks like the same most games have; there is sound but the screen will freeze in a few seconds (sound continues )
..tried to add T9 language according to instructions described at Ronswens pages for WM5. During writing sms I can choose the new language, but after choosing it only beep occurs when pressing a key. I suppose there should be changed also some another key in registry...do we have some experiences already with the T9 languages on this WM6 rom?

I have found the decision:
1)
We open "exe" a file with game in any HEX-editor, we find gx.dll and it is replaced on g0.dll
We clean the signature from a file by means of SignRemv and it is done new by means of Signed tool
To place the changed file back, and a file g0.dll to place in folder Windows
or 2) To replace a file gx.dll in folder Windows, in any a file-manager to put "read only" and restart (there can be problems with other programs)
As example Bustem
PS: forgive for my bad English

Use regeditSTG2.exe to modify the following phone registry keys:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies0001001 = 1 (that will enable the rapi_config, 1 means full access to rapi config, 2 means user controlled access)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies0001005 = 40 (that disallows the check for security cirtificate etc)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies0001017 = 144
Run SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe from the PC with the phone connected via ActiveSync. This will unlock the phone.
Disconnect and switch the phone off then back on again.
Hi,
I can't use voice talk (via handset bluetooth) before in wm2k3 and wm5 i have the fonction to add voice command with contact, but now no.
It is normal ?
Thx.
...I also revealed interresting behaviour when you are trying to connect to internet via GPRS. There sometimes occurrs error message that it couldnt be established GPRS connection because of missing GPRS coverage. (the "G" is also missing in homescren icon bar). But I am sure there is no GPRS coverage problem in my location.
So in this case you have to go into the phone settings and choose your network again. Afterwards when you are re-registerd in your network, the symbol G is present in iconbar and you can run the GPRS connection. Sometimes prolongomenous procedure...
I had pretty much the same thing as a few of the others.
Xphone11
WM5 - WM6
It flashed all ok, the phone booted all good and worked fine - but then after around 15 min of running, reciving one call and 3 failed attempts at sycning it died.
Well - actually, I re-booted it for something and it never came right after that.
These are the issues which appeared;
Contacts wouldn't open (yet the proccess was fired),
Calendar threw a 'missing file' error,
Start menu wouldn't work (no response from the button),
GPRS service was dropped ("no service available" - even though there was and the phone could see it if you seeked for it),
Yet the phone recived text messages while in this state and while calling the phone it just wouldn't do anything - yet to the caller it would appear to just ring and ring (not a provided service).
An interesting thing - I found that by making a change to the home screen or theme would allow the start menu too function as it should and the the clock to be displayed on the home screen.
Could be an area worth investigating....
I've had a taste now.... I want WM6!!!
What can I do to help?
...it also would be interresting to know whether there is a possibility to run the USB modem - I couldnt find it in start menu/accesories nor in the windows folder...
How to install for QTEK 8020 (T-Mobile SDA) joystick? please help... fuctional joystick in WM06 (my english low sorry)... right is up, left is down and left not functional and right... ???
///... please delete topic... ///
I am also wondering why nobody who is capable enough tries to make a "joystick-version" of the Typhoon WM6 - that work would be highly appreciated by so many people...

Because WM6 for Typhoon Error on Dumprom.
WM6 looks fantastic, however...
I also have a few disappointments the most important of which are:
- No "Headset" option in the profiles menu!!!
- No STK menu!!!
- Very easily crashing on games and some progs (hope to fix it as stated above)
and the camera is definately worse than in 2003SE
..various language t9 cab files - I tried it and it works fine on WM6

Cannot Change Trinity SIP (Input Panel)

I am hoping that someone here will be able to solve my problem:
I have an Orange SPVM700 (Trinity) WM5 with the original Orange Rom. The first thing I did when I got this device was install the HTC Phone Pad SIP. After a number of painful trial and error attempts I was able to use this SIP by using G4 SIP by setting Phone Pad as the default SIP in the G4 SIP control panel, and also within the G4 sip start-up application..
However, try as I might, I can not use any other SIP application, such as PCM Keyboard (v0.2), Teksoft Finger Keyboard, TenGo, RescoKeyboard, etc.).
Anytime I try to activate one of these alternative SIPs, my Trinity displays whatever the default SIP is set to (as set in G4 SIP control panel app). I can either set the default to "Keyboard" or "PhonePad". If I set any other SIP as default (in the system control Panel), I get a White Screen of death and a Hard Reset.
Does anyone have any experience of using an alternative SIP (other than WM Standard SIPs or PhonePad) with an Orange M700 Trinity?
Glad i am not the only one having this issue, i have tried and failed to get any alternative SIP working,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=322108. Post #5
Any advice would be welcome, i have tried soft resets after changing the SIP in the messaging client, soft resets after changing via the Start - settings - Input route and all to no avail.
O.K. Finally managed to work out a solution to this problem......upgrade to WM6.
I installed AX3L's Rom - AX3L_WM6_WWE_v2.0.8.2 and every thing is now great. I can use any SIP I like, the Trinity runs much faster, and the new radio performs better. I recommend you follow this route.
Also, if you need to roll back to WM5, there is a version of the Orange M700 rom kicking around for you to restore to should you need to return or anything.
For those that don't/can't go to WM6 here is a link to a working solution for WM5

Another victim of "not enough driver memory" problem. It has been answered before.
You may want to try remove unneeded startup drivers/services/autorun and/or kill some running stuff in the background (READ: cprog.exe). That might solve your problems.
Yes, upgrade to WM6 may work too, since it is better in managing driver memory.

Can the HD2 boot into a 'Safe Mode'?

Hello,
I installed FTouchSL 2.9 cab with SKTools and performed a soft reset.
On startup my phone is not responding to screen taps.
I want to remove the start up shortcut to FTouchSL by possibly starting in 'Safe Mode' or any other method to get touch input back.
I do not want to Hard Reset and loose updates made to contacts.
I remember getting into a 'Safe Mode' in a previous WM device but I can not remember which one.
EDIT: Why do I need FTouchSL on the HD2?
Many older pieces of software (e.g. Software packages mentioned in the Medical Apps thread) do not play nice with finger scrolling, especially Pocket e-Sword. That same Medical Apps thread made me remember FTouchSL that I used to good effect on WM 5/6 to get IE scrolling.
Original ROM: 1.48
Number of Flashes: 1
Current ROM: 1.66 WWE Official
SPL: Original (No SSPL/HSPL Installed).
EDIT: Button presses work once it does not go to the lock screen (by timeout or pressing 'End'). Once the screen is locked only a soft reset brings back the today screen. The phone works, time is correct and I can receive calls. No dialing however. Now I really miss some hardware buttons to allow me to navigate.
Is there anyway I could at least launch ActiveSync/Microsoft MyPhone to sync? The last time I connected the phone to a computer was as 'Modem' so that is the option it gives me now.. not ActiveSync by default else I could have initiated a sync through the computer.
The HD2 automatically connects to my WLAN, but I have not installed a program to browse the phone from the computer over the network. Is there a way to access files on the device/hack the file system and remove the FTouchSL startup shortcut?
EDIT: I had/ve an Asus P526 with a cracked screen so I could not do the screen alignment on a Hard Reset/Flash. I remember there was a file that you put on an SD Card to skip the normal WM fresh startup sequence (no alignment, timezone/date requests, etc). Is there some file I can place on the SD card to enable a 'Safe Mode' ?
Suggestions please!
Thanks in advance.
need installed something, example "spb pocket plus"
From what I'm reading it was probably some other programme I had on the previous WM phone that allowed me to start in 'Safe Mode':
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415678
Here is a link to the WM Safe Mode Bible:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=The Safe Mode Bible
I guess I will have to accept my losses w.r.t. Contacts/GPS Markers and do a hard reset.
A good software recovery plan should be put in place:
1. Backup/syncing once a day and not once a week.
2. Secure Remote file access
3. Button combination programme shortcuts
4. Safe Mode recovery software
Might as well do a HSPL as well and try the ROMS out there.. (was trying to keep it purely stock ROMs).
The cooked ROMS have so much to offer.
