Hi guys
Having 2 problems on my Magician (O2 XDA Mini)
Firstly, when I write out a new SMS, the indicator down the bottom suggesting how many characters I have used up (i.e. 122/160) keeps changing the maximum amount of characters available in an sms and splits it between 2 messages for no reason, even though I'm under the character limit. Often, it changes the limit to 70 characters, and makes me send more than one message (i.e. 28/70, 2 messages). ANY tips/suggestions?
Secondly, when I try to use either of the 2 hard buttons on the bottom of the phone (calender/contacts buttons) an error comes up on the screen saying:
"Cannot find 'O1Button' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and all the required libraries are avaailable.
Any help with either problem would be greatly appreciated

Nick,
I guess you have de-installed an omega one app. All you have to do is re-assign youre buttons via 'settings-buttons'. This worked for me after removing the omega one apps.
Greetings, Mike
Thanks for that, my problem is now fixed for the buttons.
Has anyone else experienced that Messaging problem? it is really really annoying...
thanks!

The default SMS alphabet uses 7 bits per character, packed in 140 bytes inside the PDU. The default alphabet contains most of the usual 96 ascii characters, a limited selection of accented vowels (upper and lowercase AEIOU with grave accent, E with acute accent, AOU with diaeresis, N with tilde, AE, O with slash, A with ring, C with cedilla and german sharp S), and a selection of greek letters (the ones which have no latin equivalent).
If you enter any letter not in this set, say a vowel with acute accent (except e), the Y with any accent or something along these lines, whole the message gets to be transmitted in unicode format, with every character using two bytes, leading to 70 available characters per message.
Moreover, a concatenated message requires a 6 bytes user data header, stealing further 4 characters from every single part...

Hello,
Does anyone know how to disable autocorrection in text editors (like the SMS Message Editor)? It's really annoying when I type a message and every small 'i' is change to capital one (in my language it should stay as small one). Same thing happens with 'im' which is always automatically changed to 'I'm'...
I will appreciate your suggestions.

Goto settings\input
2 sections word completion and Options - you will find all you need here
does any one knows why when composing an SMS
when u press enter (new line)
a total of two characters are reduced from the total characters left ?
any other non WM phone will count ENTER as one letter...
any clues ??
Maybe it inserts a carriage return '\r' and a newline '\n'.

hehe... english please ?
how can i reduce it to one character like any other mobile...
There are two types of new line sign. First type is <CR> (\r), it's Unix format. Second is <LF> (\n), it's Apple format. Windows uses both of them for compatibility. Maybe WM does so too to be more flexible.
Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone else has the same hair-tearing frustrations as me when using the T9 predictive text.
for example...
type in S U P P O (the start of suppose or purpose)
you get suppo and then after the last two letter to complete suppose...the options you get are
ptppmpd and purpose!!
surely suppose has to come before ptppmpd as a word??? and yes I've tried adding it, but still I get the two options above...and this happens for countless other words.
what good is predictive text if it's going to wrongly predict that I talk gibberish??
I think the first word it suggests is always the literal string of characters on the keys you pressed. I agree: it's of bugger-all use.
There are many bugs in the T9 dialler keyboard but it's still the quickest method of input for me.

I may be wrong as I don't use T9 now but I didn't think it was. I'd try looking in the custom dictionary by running eT9MyWords.exe in the Windows directory. My guess is the random letters have accidentally been added as a word.
Hi
I wonder if some one else has the same problem with SMS writing. When i write a sms message the courser is not adjacent with the words. example
" Abcd efgh ijk[l mnop " the courser appears behind the stream of writing. then when i want to correct a letter in the middle of a text i never get to the specific place for example if i want to correct the letter K i can not get to the exact spot the courser is on the k but it deletes another letter .
[---> is the courser.
Thanks
No problems with me. used Keypads and Letter recogniser, no problem. May be you can try re-aligning the screen again.
i re-alignind the screen but no change same problem.
Hello!
I have searched this and found little about it, so I'm gonna ask you about it.
I have LeeDroid HD running Android 2.3.3. I have 2 main issues regarding the sms app: the red dotted line that appears when using words not recognized by the phone (I write my messages in Romanian), and the fact that, when I tap a word in the message (say I typed a wrong character in the middle of it), instead of moving the cursor at that position and allowing me to edit freely, it moves it there, selects the entire word, and presents me options from an English dictionary to choose from as alternatives for the word. When I try to move the cursor back and forth, it navigates the suggestions, and the only way of getting out of them is to tap a white space, then navigating to the needed position with the arrow keys. All the options under Language and keyboard > Touch Input are unchecked (Spell correction, Prediction and Word completion). Am I doing anything wrong? Is it a way to bring back the behaviour of good old 2.2 sms app, or do I need to switch to a custom, less time consuming sms app?
Thank you!
