Hello,
Does anyone know how to disable autocorrection in text editors (like the SMS Message Editor)? It's really annoying when I type a message and every small 'i' is change to capital one (in my language it should stay as small one). Same thing happens with 'im' which is always automatically changed to 'I'm'...
I will appreciate your suggestions.

Does anyone know how to change the default autocomplete selection for XT9? I use the default MS keyboard SIP, but when I enter an "a", it defaults to "ã" every time. If I select the "a" shown, it sometimes remembers this, and sometimes not. I NEVER want to use an "ã" character when I press "a".
There are other problems with the autocomplete, for example when I enter the following characters,
"This is a test"
I get, "This Is ã test". Why did it capitalize the I in "is". And of course there's the ã problem.
I am using English, yet getting non-English characters? Does anyone knwo how to correct these issues?
I noticed the same problem. That or it would just try to spell out a word totally different from that which I have typed. I just disabled auto-complete and the problems temporarily solved but there in the background. Hopefully there's a fix for this.
Also, since disabling auto-complete, I am now using PCM Keyboard. This seems to have helped with the auto-complete turned on as well but still getting some serious typos thanks to it.
I think the "spelled a completely wrong word" issue is the "spell check" of XT9. I don't have a problem with that so much as the casing. It almost randomly capitalizes the first letter of random words. I type them properly, hit space, and boom, it gives me something else. That accented ã is extremely annoying though. Does anyone know of a way to edit/replace the dictionary? In reality I'd like it to offer the standard WM autocomplete words (from the classic suggestion popup), but using the new interface.
Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone else has the same hair-tearing frustrations as me when using the T9 predictive text.
for example...
type in S U P P O (the start of suppose or purpose)
you get suppo and then after the last two letter to complete suppose...the options you get are
ptppmpd and purpose!!
surely suppose has to come before ptppmpd as a word??? and yes I've tried adding it, but still I get the two options above...and this happens for countless other words.
what good is predictive text if it's going to wrongly predict that I talk gibberish??
I think the first word it suggests is always the literal string of characters on the keys you pressed. I agree: it's of bugger-all use.
There are many bugs in the T9 dialler keyboard but it's still the quickest method of input for me.

I may be wrong as I don't use T9 now but I didn't think it was. I'd try looking in the custom dictionary by running eT9MyWords.exe in the Windows directory. My guess is the random letters have accidentally been added as a word.
Hi guys
My Touch HD has this really annoying habit of inserting words I don't want it to when it tries to complete the word I'm typing. Sometime it will put the word in twice (e.g. "todaytoday"), and other times when you finish typing and hit space it replaces what you've typed with whatever word it thought you were trying to write (e.g. writing "labe' then hitting space it will automatically change it to "label"). The default is for it to replace your word with one it recognises, rather than accepting your word by default and giving you the option to choose one of its suggestions.
My old dopod d810 had a more logical/reliable word complete function than this Touch HD!
Anyone have any suggestions?!

Try disabling the 'Suggest Words' using 3rd party apps like HDTweak (Section 20)
Hi,
has anyone noticed (or maybe not having the same problem as me) that when using phonepad in T9 mode and writing messages, it doesn't remember the words that you have selected.
for example HE uses the same letters as IF, now...on my old HD, if I typed HE and then selected HE from the list, then type HE again and selected it from the list, next time I typed the keys for HE, the phone would remember that I have used HE the most and HE wold be the fist option in the list....I've done this countless time, but HE is still 5th or 6th in the list of words (ID, which isn't even a word is always first)
as a side issue, one of the first things I always do is edit the T9 dictionary to add my name and other words etc following this..the T9 doesn't remember any new words that I add (I thought it as supposed to do this automatically?)
thanks for reading
Same here
I ve turned T9 of due to this
actually it does.
I had this problem before and only a bit of playing around worked.
Basically, you need to go in to text input settings (can be done from the keyboard pop up menu) and turn ALL the XT9 settings on (i think one or two are off by default)
then, when typing something new, simply turn off the t9, write in the new word then tap on it on the suggestions bit and it will save it to your XT9 dictionary.
Bare in mind that for shorter things, it doesnt for some reason.... only really 3 letter words like uni or bro. for these you need to find the xt9 program, open it and add it.
Hope all that makes sense?
Oh and the HE/ID/if thing sorts itself out after you've selected them about a million times. annoying i know but haven't found a workaround for that.
It does it for me. I've very happy with the way T9 learns from me, even to the point where it's suggesting things like usernames and email addresses when I start typing them.
Hi,
I would love to know if there's a way to make the text that appears on the upper half of the screen as I write appear bigger? My phone is rooted and I'm using the SE default keyboard.
I would also like to know if there's any application that has spelling correction and suggestion similar to the one installed by default on all blackberry devices? When you type a wrong word it JUST has it underlined and in case you need suggestions you click on that word and it gives you all the suggestions available.
Thanks in advance.
This is not exactly what you are looking for, but I use SwiftKey, free in the Market. It has larger font and it has spell correction. Best of all, it has next word prediction. It learns how you write to suggest your next words. Many times I don't even have to type the next word, and most times I only have to type the first or second letter. It also has the most accurate voice to text, including punctuation. Last I checked the world speed typing record was set with SwiftKey. I can type emails and post to this forum faster than my pc keyboard. Only thing that takes a bit of getting used to is space bar always takes the suggested word.
