I used XDAII. In recent days, after hard reset and installed some software, when each soft reset, my device had the warning: " Can not find 'loader'(or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and all the required libraries are available." I didn't know what is loader.exe, and the way to solve this problem ?
Could anybody help me?
Did this error occur before you installed the software?
One possible cause for such an error is if some software you installed has a 'loader.exe' file that needs to run on startup (after soft reset). If this file was installed to a SD/CF card the system can't find it during startup.
If you have software that needs to run on startup you should install it in main memory.
If this doesn't help try posting some more details: does the problem occur on a clean device (right after hard reset), what programs did you install, etc.
Good luck!

Since i bought the dopod818Pro,i have experienced a few installation problems...
1.)I installed Battery Pack Pro,Installed perfect.....found out it was the old version, uninstalled and tried installing the latest one....Unsuccessful whether i select device memory or storage memory.....Couldn't get the latest to install no matter what i tried......Had to hard reset to install again.
2)Installed resco explorer and tried installing resco audio player....again same problem :x
Anyone out there that could help with the installations....I guess it is an inherent WM5 OS problem
Many problems with WM5 install, uninstall.
I think this may help:
+ If you get installation error, do a soft reset your device, than install the program again.
+ If you get uninstall error, agree when being asked to remove the entry from the list. Re-install the program, then try remove it again.
Could someone please help?
I have an XDA Exec (HTC UNIVERSAL) Ive been searching for days to a solution for this without avail and you guys seem to know what your talking about! Im very new to this and need a solution to this error when i try to install some applications and run them:
" X cannot be opened. Either it is not
signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be
found "
Is there any way you can disable this in WM5? my WM5 version is OS 5.1.1700 (Build 14354.0.1.1)
Or is there any way whatsoever you can get around this? please if anyone can help do let me know and post!!
Thankyou !!
Is your phone locked ?
It may be locked or your operator prevent installing all of 3d party applications. In this case reinstalling "clean" WM5 may help (I'm not sure though) - I'm only a newbie in WM5.
Another reason that application you run trying access trusted functions - like allocation of the physical memory. In this case I'm not sure what can be done - reinstallation of WM5 will not help.
Its unlocked! so if i re-install wm5 it wont say this when i install programs? i have tried resetting the phone and installing different roms but nothing works! is there any particular rom i should be looking to install? or anything i can put in the extended rom to install after a hard reset to sort this out? PLZ HELP!
I have had that problem, too and I was going crazy. Then I tried the following tweak but I do not really know why it should work, it just did:
in HKLM\System\ObjectStore is a reg key "RegistryType=1", which means Hive based registry.
When you set it to "RegistryType=0", which means FILE based registry, all changes you do in the registry will stay there also if you reboot with device's reset button...
BUT AFTER YOU CHANGE THIS VALUE, FIRST REBOOT HAS TO BE DONE WITH SOME SOFTWARE, NOT WITH THE RESET BUTTON.
Subsequent reboots can be done with reset button then.
there is another tweak that gets rid of the warning messages, but I did not use that one
really! which software could i use to reboot the phone??
also is resco registry okay to view and change this? it says registry type 0x0 (1) i have now changed it to 0x0 (0) is this correct? i performed a soft reset but im stil getting the error message! is this because i need to use software to reboot?
yep, the first soft reboot needs to be done with software. After that you can use the usual way again.
After I had done this I removed all "problem apps" and then reinstalled them and it worked.
What software did you use or could i use to reboot my ppc chuckchuck?
To my experience with wm5 (on Dopod 900) is that installation is causing more trouble. One is that if we uninstalled application and then installed it again (for example upgrading/updating) error message some time occur "... not successful... please install on other place... * device *storage card
Even after deleting the registry and soft reset. I can install application and the only way is to hard reset and install the updated application.
Anyone face the same problem. Perhaps this is installation issues.
yes it's issue with Windows Mobile 5
you have to clean the registry as well as the folder.
And then you can reinstall the software. it's very annoying.
I have had many pocket PC's and the Universal w/WM5 is the only one that gives me consistant installation problems. I had listpro 3.0 installed in program memory. I uninstalled it with the intent of re-installing it on the SD card. Unchecking it from activesync did nothing. Removing from the ppc directly told me that all of the file were not removed. I saw the the folder still existed in program files, do I deleted the directory and shortcuts pointing to it. I have had this exact same problem MANY times
Am I the only one with this problem? I don't find any messages like this.
Next, I try to reinstall listpro and it won't reinstall :x I get a message cannot be installed, try another location (which does not work). Do I need a hard reset? I tryed installing another program and I can still install other stuff, but the removal did not work again.

Hi Gary!
I have a lot of experience in this sh*t. WM5 cannot uninstall or install in a lot of cases. Usually if you still have some files or folders which are on the same location than with the installation, installer says: cannot install. In that case you have to delete (or rename) the folder left, and then you can install it. In other cases installer stays in a loop install condition, and cannot continue. In that case try to install another application to finish somelooped order. I realised another thing, which is very interesting: when you want to uninstall a program, and your pda says it cannot be removed - or something -, if I run Vijay555 killphone application in 98% of the cases after it I can uninstall the same.
I hope this wil help!
Hi,
Perhaps I have been lucky but I havent had any issues with regards to installing or uninstalling programs.
I do make sure that I soft reset before and after - so maybe thats a golden rule!
Matt
Yes, softreset would be a good tip in more cases, but it wouldn't solve the problem when you want to install a program which needs a place what exists.
I did find some files in the windows directory and deleted them. That WORKED. Just doing program files is not enough. In this case, the file name was the same as the program. I don't expect to be that lucky all the time.
I have done soft-resets when it does not work. I do a number of trial programs and tend to forget prior to removal. What a apin
Got to love Microsoft - reboot is the answer to everything.
Installation problems.....
I am having the same problem too.
Even after a hard reset when I try and install Sprite Backup & Agenda Fusion I keep getting the install error: 'cannot be installed, try another location'
It's driving me up the wall! I would have thought after a hard reset this wouldn't be an issue. I'm now the proud owner of an MDA Pro (Universal) that I can't use because the software I want to install won't install.
Can anyone help me please?
This happened to me before and I ended up doing a hard reset, then it happened again but then that was due to a program needing a reset so after doing a soft reset for that it worked.
Now I have the 2.26 rom in and I have spent about a month and just installed a bunch of new apps today, nearing the end the same thing has happened to me. I tried a soft reset but it didn't fix the problem, I can't even go to the add/remove programs and remove the last few programs I had. It shows no programs to remove.
I don't know if installing it via .cab would work but these last few programs I'm trying to install are only in a .exe file, not a .cab file.
Then this is also interesting, I can't delete any 'system' files, I just tried to delete the default pictures from the main memory and I recieved
"Cannot delete picture_name: Access is denied
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and the file is currently not in use"
However I can delete the file through activesync on my computer.
There are about 16mbs of free storage.
I tried searching the forums but I couldn't find anything. I do believe this is a bug associated with WM5, does anybody have a workaround or fix?
I've only seen that a couple of times but a hrad reset was required. Curious on what software you're installing as this isn't really too common around here. Something's going rogue on you for sure, just what you're going to need to narrow down.
Sorry ...
Yes, I believe this problem comes about from an unsuccessful installation of a program, I had numerous unsuccessful installations so that is the probably the culprit. Oh well, I just did a hard reset, it's gonna be a looooong night.
