Hello:
is it possible to get the Blackberry software ONLY for the XDA II? the O2 website only supplies it as part of a full ROM upgrade which I don't want to do as my unit is set up perfectly and I don;t want to have to do a hard reset and build it all again??
Thanks
Just download the full ROM upgrade and use ROM Edit 2003 to extract the installation CAB file you need from the extended ROM.
To do this, you need to start the ROM upgrade process (you do not need to cradle your device to your computer).
When the program welcomes you, you do not respond but search your harddisk for nk.nbf (it should be located somewhere in c:\documents and settings).
Copy this file to another location on your harddrive.
Now you can cancel the ROM upgrade process.
Browse the nk.nbf (extended ROM file) using ROM Edit 2003 in order to locate the CAB file you need for Blackberry installation.
Extract the file from the extended ROM and copy it to your device.
Run it on your device and install there.
You might need to unlock and unhide your extended ROM on your device prior to installation.

RIM check the device software and radio build before they will allow the software to connect to their relay. So extracting the software only and trying to connect will have no effect - it will bounce the moment it detects an unapproved software combination.
We have our own BB server and GPRS aPN for the system ove rhere, do you think it will work on this equipment??
In theory, yes, but what I think you will find is that BB connects to its own APN then connects to your BES server. When you want to use "GPRS", it discos from the APN & will connect to yours.
So I think it's unlikely
Hmm -I've tried to get the NK.nbf file.
It does not seem to me on my computer any where, but the upgrade app does say it extracts it - maybe it stores it in RAM until the unit has been identified.
My XDA unit will not conect via serial to get the ROM file (I use BT to sync) as I dropped it once and the connector is damaged.
Any other ideas how I can get it? Is anyone willing to post the extended ROM
image for me?
Is there anyone have BlackBerry Connect App for WM2003, please?

I have officially screwed up my RSU. I can boot into CE just fine, but there is no radio stack to speak of. After having many partial attempts, there's just nothing there. I've tried everything (or so it seems). I can do an activesync connection, btw.
Whenever I try to run PROGRAMME A, it just hangs. I hit the next button and *nothing* happens. That's any program a, whether from ATT or Tmobile.
Hi there,
Did oyu try installing the Radio Stack Programma A thingy from another windows installation? Another pc? Perhaps that will work.
Os course... you could be trying to install a version which is not suited for your GSM provider/GSM hardware. Look for info at your GSM provider website. It's hard is not impossible for anyone here to tell you which version should work for your device.
Cya,
Oz
Yeah...I tried it on my laptop too. The problem seems to be program b, which rewrites the RSU. It simply won't do it for some reason. This shouldn't be the case.
Come on....someone must have some stupid trick to re-flash the radio stack. I remember seeing solutions to the "1% problem," but all of those solutions were with the non-US radio stacks. :-/ I didn't buy my phone from Tmo, so I have no warrenty to speak of.
which rom and ruu were you using? seems like you were using the .exe correct? which unit/network are you on? this might help you get some help. be specific with the problem, etc.
What versions (ROM and Radio Stack) were you using prior to running the EXE upgrade?
What versions are currently installed?
And which radio stack are you trying to upgrade to?
I was using 4.00.005 and the newest ATTWS ROM before, and I was trying to go to Yorch's newest Tmobile beta, the one that includes the RSU.
Right now I have the most recent official Tmobile ROM and no radio stack on there.
Ejdmoo:
After decompressing the rar file, look for the two RSUpgrade files; one is .cp64 and the other is .exe. Copy them via Activesync to the windows directory on your TMo PPCPE. Then execute the RSUpgrade.exe file. That should reflash the new radio stack. It worked for me. Good luck!
David
I am in the same boat as ejdmoo, and had the same roms installed and all that good stuff...still no go with fixing the radio stack. One thing I noticed is that I removed the .cp64 file from the \windows directory and it still tried to update and failed at 1%. I don't think the version of the .cp64 file matters since it is not getting that far.
Another issue that popped up after the failed update is th unit does not charge, it will only run on AC, and it does not show a status in the power app under settings. Bout you ejdmoo?
Come to think of it, I am having the same power/charge problems. Also, I have tried copying the RSUpgrade.exe program to the device multiple times and from multiple sources. Also, I copied some of the other required files (something map and .c64 file), still didn't work. I think it *must* have to do with the RSUpgrade.exe, but I wouldn't know why.
FYI...I'm going on vacation this week (luckily I have a backup phone), but I expect this to be fixed when I get back! :!:

This is what adaptrom returns now, this is when the tmo is connected and browsable via AS. Anyone have any ideas why this would be happening?
Since my unit will be replaced I am willing to do some scary things with it, so if any of the xda-devolopers want me to try something let me know. I have an sd reader/writer and a usb cable but no serial cable.

Been there seen that!
Here is hope I fixed it:
First go to the below site and download and install the v4.21 ENG radio stack upgrade. Now here's the tricky part but I must warn you I did all three and really don't know which one did it, might have been a combo of all three.
1. Entered bootloader mode and selected the 900 band and re-booted.
2. Removed the SIM card and rebooted
3. Entered bootloader mode and turned off the radio.
Note you'll know when you got it right because you'll have a stable Active Sync connection. So after each of the above steps see how stable Active Sync is before trying the next step.
Reran the T-Mobile upgrade (PC install) and all went go well.
02 Radio Stack Upgrade v4.21 (1.54MB) Download.

I'm not sure in which order you want me to do what...?
I had the same problem, but a hard reset fixed it for me.
David
For all of you having the same problem I have been having after upgrading to the O2 4.21 RSU here is what I have found makes the loading of the RSUpgrade files into the \windows directory work. You need to also copy the monitor_ul_bs.m0 and monitor_ul_bs.map files to the windows directory. Then when you execute the RSUpgrade.exe it works.
barjohn you are a genius!!! I can't believe I never thought of moving the other files before...you rock I am now in possesion of a fully working WM2003 T-Mobile PPC PE!!!
Thank You barjohn!!

Boy I forgot about doing the hard reset, what step was that?
It must have came right after the Radio stack upgrade, Right!
So it appears that what works for some doesn't work for others, strange business!
I read barjohn's fix were he manually copied some missing files into the windows folder and that solved it for him, I guess we were just lucky! :?

So it would be save to say that one should just copy the above files into the Windows folder first before starting the initial upgrade and forgo all of the other headaches, agreed!
Qman,
That's a great idea, but then we would miss out on the thrill of thinking we have transformed a great electronic device into a $400 paperweight! What fun is it if everything works out on the first try? Have fun!
David
Well Ive officially made my tmobile ppc a $400 paper weight. I was running the Kitchen rom with ATT radio stack and I attempted to update the RSU to the latest tmobile version to see if it improved the signal meter using the method mentioned here. I copied the files suggested here via activesync to the windows folder on my ppc and ran the exe, the upgrade stopped at 13% and that was it. Unfortunately I dont have a SD reader so Im high and dry until tomorrow. I can access the bootloader and I get the GSM error and thats it.
Hi,
This probably the most asked question here yet I have one thing thats different to the others from what I have read.
I live in Australia, my 02 XDA ppc isnt sim locked or anything however my issue is related to the o/s I have ppc2002 I wanted to upgrade to 2003 and found a file for download and am unaware if this file is the correct file to download for upgrade to my XDA?
I also know I need a radiostack which will work on my XDa once it has been updated to 2003.
2003 file @ http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/XDA/PPC2003PE.nb1.zip
Radiostack which will work for me?????
Any help would be appreciated aswell as telling me what are the neccessary files on my PC to use to flash the ppc phone edition via my USB cradle also.
Any other info should be available with my profile.

Hi,
if ur phone works fine in making/receiveing calls, then all u need is a ROM upgrade. goto the kitchen at www.yorch.net and cook a ROM based on 4.00.05 ENG. select the file to be an exe file. download the file to ur PC and connect the xda to the cradle and make sure it's connected to power. run the exe and follow the instructions.
good luck
Hi,
Thanks Biso007 for all your info/help.
I am currently downloading the file that I 'cooked' as I type this out however one thing I was not sure about was in the string section was I to change the string to 4.00.05 as it was set on 3.16 ...
I did change it and its downloading I assume there should not be any issues.
If there is any concerns or if I did the wrong thing by that please inform me... BTW the file was made into an .exe.

Hi,
I visited www.yorch.net and 'cooked' my own ROM made it into an exe and have it downloaded right here it's a 4.05.00 rom flash but I have to ask what software can I use to flash the unit with because I do not have an SD card so I am stuck using my PC to do the flash, I have the official backup files for my ppc from 02's site so I am ok I guess if all else fails i will flash back to what I am currently using.
I wanted to flash the rom onto my ppc however what software can I use? I tried Microsofts Sync software I have 3.7 but it doesnt allow me to flash as it gives me an error message.

unfortunately this is a known issue with some ROMs that can't accept the exe method. you are stuck with the SD card upgrade.
Will adaptrom not work for this?
hi,
Sum1 here who a T-Mobile subscriber? I have a T-Mobile PocketPC that I need to unlock tho I'm not a T-Mobile subcriber. I need a T-Mobile mobile number to get the upgrade at http://www.t-mobile.com/products/handhelds/pocketpc/download_popup.asp
Or if someone already downloded the upgrade where can I download it without keying-in the mobile number? Thanks.
BTW, I have a question, if I download the upgrade, can I now use the XDAunlock.exe file here (is my ROM automatically updated)? My ROM version now is 3.14.40 ENG. I'm having trouble with the ROM updater here since im not linux literate.
Email me at [email protected]. Thanks a lot
I already downloaded the TMobile upgrade. Can somebody tell me if this upgrade will indeed upgrade my ROM to the correct ROM version with wirelss modem feature to I can use the XDAunlock.exe to unlock my xda? Thanks
The answer is NO, the latest TMO upgrade is 4.01.00 and it has no wmodem.exe application. If you need to unlock your device, go to www.xda-developers.com/XDAunlock/ and use the tool there.
If it doesn't work, try the kitchen at www.yorch.net and cook a new 3.17 based ROM and flash your XDA and unlock it, then you can upgrade to TMO 4.01.00 later.
BTW, the TMO upgrade affects the RSU part. So, unless you are a TMO user you better use the .nbf file only with either SD card or use the XDAtools to flash your device.
Good luck.
Hi Biso,
How can I "cook" a rom? http://kitchen.romanweb.com/kitchen/index.php when I go to that website, the only thing needed to be selected are the 3.17.03 ENG O2-Euro (6656 kB available) and XDA-developers AutoConfig data (113 kB) under it. and the unlocking option right? This wil be the first to use my pocket pc device, which option should I select under How would you like your ROM?
installer EXE
zipped NK.nb1 (SD-card flashing)
zipped NK.nbf (advanced users)
and should I do anything on the NBF header string?
Thanks man.
If I use the intaller EXE file, how will I "flash" it on my device? What are the differences between using the exe,nk.nb1 and nk.nbf? Thanks again.
I notice that above the page there is an indication, by default when I go to the page (without checking or unchecking anything) the top of the page states:
space in ROM: 6656 kB
used: 7729 kB
free: -1072 kB
*overload*
Should I limit my ROM on 6656 kB (meaning that I have to uncheck other options)? My deveice is an XDA 1. Thank you.
Hi ...
Yes, you have to uncheck some optional s/w till the guage line is "Green".
If you are not familiar with the SD method, just select the EXE type. It will generate a 15 MB exe file which you should download it to your PC. Connect your XDA to your PC throught the cradle and ActiveSync and run the exe file while the cradle is connected to the power supply and follow the instructions on the screen.
Good luck.
Thanks man for the quick reply.
Sorry I'm getting confused. Should I transfer the exe file to the device and run the exe file on the device?
Thanks again
The exe file runs from your desktop, your xda will need to be synced with your pc before running the exe.
Thanks so this is what I have to do:
First sync my device (cradle connected to the power supply) and after synching, run the exe file on my desktop computer (no need to transfer on my device or anything?). That's it?
Is this fail-proof? Will it not damage my device if ever there was an interruption or sumthing? How can I make sure that I can go fail-proof? Kinda worried coz I just got hold of my xda 1 (T-Mobile edition), I'm a palm user before. Thanks
BTW, my PocketPC Version is 3.0.12039 (Build 11178). ROM version 3.14.40 ENG. I don't know if my PocketPC is 2002 or 2003. I'll be using the yorch.net ROM (http://kitchen.romanweb.com/kitchen/index.php). All compatible?
ROM 3.14 is a PPC2002 one and all ROMs on Yorch.net is WM2003 except the 3.17 one.
Just to ensure it's a safe process, remove the SIM and SD card from the device and stop any running applications on your PC.
Good luck ...
Thans Biso. How bout a step by step guide? Pls pls pls? Id really appreciate it man.
Like
1. Sync the device (Power connected to the cradle)
2. Run the Rom Exe file
3. etc.
Just to be sure. BTW, is the exe file really just 150KB? Is that all I need to unlock my device?
Hi ...
There is nothing really needed more than what you just wrote:
1. Connect the XDA to the cradle and sync while the power is connected.
2. Run the EXE file and follow the instructions on the screen.
BTW, the EXE file should be at least 15 MB, seems your ROM was not "cooked" well .... try again
Ohh ok. I downloaded twice and all I got was 150kb. how will I know that the ROM i got is "cooked" well so I can be free of troubles. Can you just give me a link to the right/"well cooked" ROM? Thanks man.
One more thing, should I run the ROM EXE file while my device is synching or after the synch?
it's still 150 kb. Here's what it says when I view the log
./mkrom.sh: ../../kitchen.local/mkrom-inc.sh: No such file or directoryno files for configid 26220739Cannot fit files in given sectionsError splitting files
seems there is something wrong with the kitchen work space ... it happens sometimes ... no big issue.
You may try this kitchen as well http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
P.S: run the EXE file after the device is synced
which one should I pick? Pocket PC 2002 ROM or Windows Mobile 2003 ROM. And what's the difference. Sorry for my ignorance. Thanks for the replies.
Biso,
Can I use an MMC card for flashing? I MIGHT be able to borrow an MMC card. Also, I dont have a card reader but I have a digital camera which I can use to transfer the ROM image from my desktop computer to the card. Would you think it would work? Thanks again man.
will the exe file below work for me?
http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/XDA/XDA-developers-SER-v12.exe
and
http://www.xs4all.nl/~jsummers/XDA/XDA-developers-SER-v12.exe
This is my Device's Information
ROM version: 3.14.40ENG
ROM date: 11/26/02
Radio version: 6.18
Protocol version: 324e4
Pocket PC Version 3.0.12039 (Build 11178) (Don't know if this is 2002 or 2003 pocketpc)
Pls reply. thanks
Hi ...
1. As the figure tells, WM2003 is the latest than PPC2002.
2. I can recommend to use TMO 4.01.00 as I have it on my device for almost 3 months now with no problems so far (few things have to be tweaked tho), but I heard good news about AT&T 30.09 ROM as well.
3. I can't confirm that MMC can replace SD card. I saw some threads on this but no final results.
4. The answer is NO, the only way to move the NBF file to the SD card is either a card writer or by using XDAtools with the XDA cradle. I don't think the card will be recognized by the bootloader otherwise.
5. SER-V12 is a PPC2002 ROM and useful only if you need to unlock your device (which I believe it's already unlocked).
No I just want to unlock the device, that's it I don;t really want a ROM upgrade, just so happens that I need to have a ROM upgrade to unlock the device
SO I can use the SER-V12? Thanks a lot.

follow this link:

A2DP works like charm.
maupgrade utility?
i can't find this anywhere, what is 'maupgrade utility' sorry if i'm missing something obvious.
i have attached a screenshot of the error message i get is there any way around this- i am using a XDA exec and can't find a program to allow me to make the t-mobile rom work
Right,Download the T mobile Exe to a directory of your chosing. using Winzip ( I use winrar) Right click the ExE file, and click extract here.
This will give you about 10 files. one of them will be ROMupgrade.exe. This is the bugger that gives you a problem. Now get a copy of MaUpgradeUt_noiD.exe and put this in the same directory. Unplug your usb cable, do a Boot loader reset. Light, on/off, and reset all together.
Screen goes blank with the word serial top centre NO backlight so hard to see. Plug in USB cable. Serial changes to Usb. now doubleclick MaUpgradeUt_noiD.exe to run it. follow onscreen prompts. takes about 20 minutes. Soft reset at the end. Dont worry if the displayed divice is not a Xda exec. Worked for me just done an up grade to latest full imate release as I'm writing this!! Previously I had the code 120 Country failure before carrying out the above installer exe swap.

Hi,
Mine was originally (Monday this week!) an O2 XDA Exec, until the OS got screwed when installing O2's GPRS monitor app fron CD. I have both Installed the Imate beta, and iImate full release, using the mothod described. I haven't tried with the T mobile Firmware yet, as my XDA is working perfectly at present ('if it ain't broke don't fix it !'). I do have a copy of the T mobile F/W stored, if I get a problem or, there are 'features' that would be useful. I can see no reason why it shouldn't install as described in my previous post, BUT I haven't tried it.!If O2 came out some updated firmware, I can't see why you counldn't install it as described. I'm looking for a copy of the original O2 F/W, So I can returned my Exec to its original spec if I need to. Especially as its only 4 days old!
Thank you
I got this working it's a good rom from tmobile and a2dp was working ok cut out a bit and then this morning it was workign amazingly and some bloody chavs came and hit me for no reason and broke my bluetooth headphones. Typical. i'm hoping some superglue will fix them

Hi guys I have 2 questions,
1: I have a MDA Compact 2 that has customised firmware by my employer, some application automatically install when its first turned on after a reset , I have just bought a second one as a spare, is there a way of cloning the firmware from the first one to the new spare?
2: is there a way of using the MDA as a Modem on my pc? We have web and talk but wool prefer to get internet via my laptop?
thanks
1. What brand are you in? T-mobile German, Czech? Which one?
2. Flash wm6, there is an easy way of sharing the MDA Compact II internet connection for PC.
its T-Mobile UK, i cant risk going to WM6 becuase of the mod's by my employer, it runs custom software.
If its been modified by extended rom only to install custom software/settings etc then you can just use Total Commander and browse to \Extended_Rom\ then copy all the files out of it. then on the other device, skip the original customization by soft reseting when its says its about to start, then install the list of extracted cabs from the business device.
For a bit more involved, you can take all the extracted files, build them into an image and then flash them to the other device overwriting the tmobile stuff so they'll always be on there.
If you pair the laptop with the phone, it should detect the presence of a bluetooth modem (not on AKU 3+ tho) which you can then use on the laptop as a new connection dialling *99#
Hi thanks for the reply, I have followed the instructions from here,

but I am having a problem, when it says select access point name I do have any to chose, it just says none?
