Activesync and K-Jam - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hi All,
Ijust bought a k-jam. it was working gr8, till all of a sudden it lost connection with AS 4.0.0 (build 4343). AS detects the device and starts connecting and just hangs there, and on the device AS starts but it doesn't do anything. I deleted all the partnerships from both the PC and the Device and still nuthin.
Can anyone help me here?

with AS 4.1 no problem ...

I have a Himalaya with buzzmobile 1.60c
I had the same. It worked for 10 days, then suddenly it stopped synching via USB.
If I want to synch I can only do it via BT, that is a pain because I used to synch via BT at home and cradled at my office.
Now that I MUST synch via BT on both PCs I have to pair my device every time :evil: :evil:
I tried everything: removed the "ghost" network adapter, installed USB drivers from scratch, uninstalled /installed AS 4.1 100+ times but nothing.
I gave up, hoping that as it stopped to sync, one day I will start again
Any idea will be welcome.

JasJar USB connection problem - please help

I 'suddenly' am unable to have my JasJar connected to Activesync. I have been successfully connecting the last two weeks and did not cahange anything to the PC's set-up.
I killed my antivirus and have no firewall software running.
I have a direct USB connection to my Laptop (no usb hub).
I have tried both Activesync V4.0 and V4.1.
I have deleted all partnerships to get a fresh start.
I have also tried to delete the PPC in the PC's device manager and connect again (I did notice the PPC was listed under the network adapters only, nothing was listed under the USB section).
Nothing seems to help and I am really desperate since I can not sync anything anymore now.
Any suggestions are more than welcome !

have you tried another PC ? at least this way you can be sure that everything is ok .
I am travelling and will not have any access to another PC before the WE.... I did try another cable but got not lucky..
It does seem to work on another PC.
Anybody any suggestion as to what else I could try to make it work again?
firewall?, thats my pain on my work lappy, i have to vpn into work and that blocks my JJ, i get connecting but no connected, all i can do is disconnect from work which then opens the activesync ports back up. check 7438 and 5679 on your firewall
After a week with AS 4.0 I suddenly found that the only way I could get it to work was to soft reset the Jas Jar while connected. I'm guessing you've already tried that though...
yer, i forgot to say, i can only sync when my JJ has been off for 10+ seconds, if on i get a uab device error if off i connect no problems, this kinda leads me to think that the usb port is in a different mode when on to when on standby, but the usb hosting of devices appears not to be the reason

I have the same problem. Get a kind of "USB not recognized" when the jasjar is on/open".
I close the Jasjar after having taken the USB out of course.
Then, after a while ( You say 10 seconds) it works fine and Activesync starts the job.
I can live with it. No soft reset needed.
Very positive to me is the fact that I can also connect to a USB HUB. So no need to plu it directly in my portable.
After connection I can open my little toy. (Gush how I love this thing)

Yes I have the same problem I only synk when the jasjar is turned off. Most probably one of the reasons apart from firewall issus is office 2003. They said to me from club-imate support that we need the newest office 2003 with sp1.

ACTIVE SYNC PROBLEM - WON'T CONNECT

My new M5000 syncs fine with my office PC. When I try to sync at home the device isn't found and so no partnership is set up. Strangely, it establishes a LAN Connection when I try to connect. Anyone got any suggestions ? I had no such prolem with my Qtek 9090.

I'm using 4.1 which as far as I know is the latest !
I installed 4.1 to connect with another phone, and it stopped working with the universal, with very similar symptoms, it registered as a lan device. I had to downgrade to 4.0 in order to get it to sync correctly.
Also, try rebooting the 'puter, and plugging the USB cable directly into the first hub, not a downstream hub.
Also, what is the state of your battery when you try? I found that the charge current required sometimes when the battery is low is too much for one of my hubs, causing it not to identify correctly.

I try this, but my START and STOP buttons are inactive in all positions.
Taiseer999. Tried that, made no difference, still won't connect !
Do I feel stupid. My Firewall wasn't letting it through. Disabled F/W and hey presto - perfect. F/W now configured to allow Active Sync and all is well. Thanks to all for advice.

Activesync doesnt work

Hi All
Any ideas how to get activesync to work.
This is how it works for me.
1. Uninstall Activesync (im using 4.2 beta at the moment)
2. Restart PC
3. Reinstal Activesync
4. Plug in M5000
5. Sync M5000
6. Unplug it to use it again.
7. Swear , scream , shout..........not got round to kicking yet
8. Goto step 1
Thats it.
it only works after the first install, and never again.....WHY
??

Is there any reason you need to be using the beta version? 4.1 is the latest release. Does the same problem occur with 4.1?

I started using the beta version because the version 4.1 did exactly the same, i thought I would try it hoping that things would change, but no luck.
All i get is the rotating green symbol and nothing else.
If I connect to my work PC it works perfectly, its only at home that the problem exists
know its basic but to cover all bases,have you possibly tried another usb cable or another port?
I have tried plugging to the front and rear of my PC without an luck
but it must be a setting somewhere as on first instal everything works perfect

Here is a question for you then have you turned of your Anti Virus software and firewall.
I say this because i have Bull AV on mine (came free with new PC) and it does not support Async 4.1 they say go back to 3.8.
I am having the same probelm.
I've just got a Universal.
My old XDAII syncs fine with activesync 4.1 is fine
Either using a 2nd PC or the same one as the XDAII it will not sync.
I've been having a look for a fix on the internet but no, joy.
I'm not running a firewall, MS firewall is off too.
I've tryed 4.2.
I have Delete Partnerships, but this does not work.
The cable I have charges and the PC knows there is something there.
I found someone did this
I just unticked the synchronize all PCs using this connection, turned the xda off and back on, ticked the box again and connected!!
Does anyone know what that means?

Yea my old M2000 sync perfectly first time everytime between Home and Work.
Using 4.1
My M5000 works everytime at work and only after i remove and reinstal at home.
Doesnt matter if my firewall or viruscan is on or of it still only connects on my home pc after i uninstal and reinstal.
Looks like it might have something to do with syncing in 2 locations

Activesync problem: "Getting Started Disc"

I'm new to Universal, but I'm getting along with most of the features.
The only problem is: I cannot sync using WM6.
The problem:
I plug the USB in, the PDA connects, Activesync (on PC) starts and setting up itself... and stuck! When I check the AS on my Universal, it says:
"To synchronize your device with a desktop computer, install the synchronization software from the Getting Started Disc included with your device on your PC:"
And then something about Exchange Sync.
The connection is OK, the device gets IP, and so on.
I installed the original (4.1) AS, but (no surprise) it cannot sync with WM6.
Must I revert to WM5? I don't want to...
Anyone any sollution?
Install Version 4.5 of ActiveSync! Only this one is able to sync with WM6!

Sorry, I didn't emphasize that I have AS 4.5 installed.
This way goes the message like I wrote.
So thank you for your reply, but sadly, this is not the sollution.
(I installed/uninstalled AS several times in the last two days... But for WM6 4.1 isn't good, for 4.5 it says use the GS Disc... The only way out (as I think) is to go back to WM5 to use 4.1... But that way I will miss some new stuff from Crossbow.)

What I discovered that the error message mentioned was not because of the wrong ActiveSync version. It was because the AS on the PDA cannot communicate with the AS on PC. I explain. I flashed WM5 back and installed AS 4.1, but the error message was still there. But the text went like "install ActiveSync on PC..." So it connects, gets IP, but cannot see that AS is installed. And the sollution?

Yeah, AS over BT works. Connects, syncs without problem. I think I'll have to stick to that option.

Switched the cable -> still no luck. Tried WM5torage with USB -> it works!
So it looks like it's a software problem, just a rare case (?). I'll work with the troubleshooter later, until than: BT.

in your first post you said you cannot sync at all using wm6... and then in the next post you said you can sync using bluetooth... seems like you already found the solution to your problem... use BT...
just a thought though... if BT sync is really working and usb is not.... then there's a problem with your cord... otherwise, its the software.... its either activesync version... or a firewall is blocking a port that prevents the sync during usb connection

I tried swithing the cable (so use another miniUSB) but that's not a problem. And WM5torage works, so...
Firewall could be wrong, but I don't have problems with other PDAs, so I think it is other software...
Anyway, yes, the sollution for me is BT. I use it since than, but until I realised that only USB is not working... I spent days with this, just because before the first succesful sync, AS only tells you: "use the AS from the CD..."
It should say: "Connected, but cannot sync. The problem COULD BE wrong AS version..."
So yeah, BT rox...

HELP! I can't sync my Herald (T-Mobile Wing)

Yesterday I updated my T-Mobile Wing from the stock WM6 to WM6.1 and OpenTouch 4.0. I am running Windows Vista so I have to use the Windows Mobile Device Center. My problem is the first time I tried to sync I had no issues (contacts and email/appts). Now when I try, it doesn't even connect to my device. Anyone have any suggestions on why I'm having this issue?

No it doesn't have bluetooth built in or anything. Like I said, I was able to get it sync'd last night via USB and now its not even connecting.
I just went and bought a bluetooth usb adapter for my lappy. i'll see if i can get it to connect/sync that way.

Any other options on why I can't sync? I'm running the wing with WM6.1 and Touch Point 4.0. My OS is Vista Home Premium so I have to use Windows Mobile Device Center.

Yes I have one option.
When you first log in to your windows profile as your desktop is loading your computer should make a small melody sound right after this connect your phone to the computer, give it a few moments you should see the small Windows mobile device center screen start up. I know it sounds weird but I had the same issues and after months of endless research I accidentally discovered this.
The bad thing is you have to restart your computer and connect on desktop loading everytime you want it to recognize your device through Windows Mobile Device Center.
Please let me knows if it works for you.
I haven't really figured out an entirely foolproof method (haven't tried BigREDD's suggestion yet), but I usually just keep plugging it in and unplugging it until it's recognized. Restart the computer with the phone already plugged in via USB. Soft-reset the phone while it's already plugged in via USB. Make sure repllog.exe is in your startup. I've never had any luck starting ActiveSync from Programs and then hitting "Sync", but maybe you will.
