It a bit strange why would the "Send as vCard" involves MMS and GPRS to connect! Unlike the last imate, which sends the B.Card as a SMS and goes thru normal GSM!
It is a bit strange why wouldn't the Nav. Pad work while using the Phone! It was very useful to have access the call history and speed dial with the pad! Now that has been taken away, any substitute?
But truely, having to answer the caller without opening the clam, saves so much of battery life!
I have noticed that the two icons on the task bar (i.e. Battery & Connection) don't look like those on the box nor on other images available on the net? I have seen one for the battery with bars reflecting the remaining battery life rather than the flat green!!

Hi All,
I am pretty sure that I found an Application a while back which gives you your mobile signal strength as a percentage on the today screen. The program was free, but I can't remember where the hell I saw it !!
Can anybody point me to a similar program ?
The reason for this is that even when my XDAII says that I have no bars, I can still make and receive calls perfectly and am curious as to what strength I AM getting.
Thanks,
Rob.
Totally opposite:
I've had problems when the signal showed full bar, but the phone was actually dead -- incoming calls went to the voice mail, and you wouldn't notice it until you started making calls and it just stayed at "Dialing" ... Scariest thing is, the green light will still be flashing !
I use Phonedashboard to display the signal, but it aint free though ...
Anyway, I am still testing a theory as I suspected the problem was caused by my SIM card rather than the Xda II or its GSM radio. I upgraded my >5y.o. SIM card to a brand spanking new 64k SIM card and the problem has not reproduced itself yet.
I use Phone Dashboard and love it, to be honest.
I think its worth the price, and the program doesn't seem to slow the phone down like some Today plugins do. It also doesn't take up much memory.
Thanks for the replies guys.
I'll check it out.
Rgds,
Rob.
Got my wizard today and despite my new contract sim card not working I am loving the phone. Basic install and im really happy with the speed. I guess its down to what you expect speed wise.
I have also found it very stable and havent had to soft reset once yet so fingers crossed.
Really enjoying my wireless access around the home.
Couple of things I would like straight away though. Is there any way to flag up missed calls or text messages waiting in your inbox a little better ? When the screen goes off is there anyway to kick in a screen saver with a floating missed call or you recieved a text message like I got on my nokia 3650 ?
Also is there any way I can get the phone to automatically log onto my wireless network when I get into my house ? Could I get MSN to automatically log me in when It picks up a wireless connection.
Just scratching the surface so far but this phone is showing a whole lot of potential.
Really happy if anyone is on the fence with the Wizard at the moment. Go for it I say, the O2 deal of £99 for phone and £19 is a bargain as far as im concerned.
Happy Christmas to everyone

haven't got answers to all your questions, but I agree with you, it seems very fast to me. Only goes slow when activesync 4.1 crashes it or when way to many apps are open at the same time (I recommend the 'free' magic button, vbar, or the 'pay for' xbar). Certainly just as fast as my previous magician.
you can leave wireless on all the time, and it will connect when at home. however this will tend to drain the batteries (although you can adjust the settings to lower wireless power, but this also lowers speed). obviously if it is not on, it will not know that it is in a wireless network area - catch 22. You could try a hack when, on starting msn, it kicks off wireless, however I have searched and not found this anywhere. however it would seem to be silly as you then can't msn over gprs.
in terms of screen savers with info. couldn't find anything for you, but have a look through:
www.pocketgear.com
www.handango.com
www.freewareppc.com
and if you get bored and just want a game:

enjoy!
I noticed that Wizard has a very poor GSM signal reception. Compaired to SonyEricsson P910i, which was extremely reliable when it comes to signal reception.
One of the disadventages of bad reception is faster battery drainage, but it doesn't bother me that much.
Sometimes it happens that Wizard tries sending SMS (text message) several times, until it succeeds in that action..unfortunatelly, it seems that the sending was successful every time, so I end up with boosted phone bill, and my recipient with several same messages.
Does this happen to you? It starts driving me crazy, although I have a Wiz for only a month now.
Maybe you are using Pocket Plus?
In that case you have to add tmail.exe (\Windows) to the exception list. You can find the list in the Settings of Pocket Plus.
Yes I do have it installed. But if you're reffering to that problem saying it's because of having Pocket Plus installed, I must say that it did happen even before I installed it 2-3 days ago.
I just opened Pocket Plus' Settings but it seems I cannot find Exception list (though I think I've seen it once I browsed through the option first time I installed it). Could you be more precise?
And, yes, what exactly one gets after adding tmail.exe to the exception list?
My wizard has a v good gsm recetion - you may find the reception better with the original o2 rom rather than the t-mobile one you are using. Or your provider signal is poor!
There is a known glitch so it sends two messages if you close down tmail before the message is sent.
When you said "close" I figured out where the exception list could be So I added tmail.exe to the list..but I kinda doubt it'll solve the problem. If it does..hooray!
I doubt cos I didn't see that Close button actually works like a real close (even with Pocket Plus). Just in case, I've just switched tap and hold functions on close button. Tap will minimise it and hold will close it. And just saw that my messaging app stays open even if I hold stylus over X button
Hi all,
In need of some help here... :-( Got my replacement Uni all setup back how I like it and my boss finally signs off the paperwork to get Blackberry enabled on my phone. O2 eventually got it all setup and I start to receive email, however am having some problems.
1. If I turn the PDA off (or it turns itself off as battery saving) then Blackberry seems to quit and won't restart without a soft reset. Obviously not very useful
2. When Blackberry is running it doesn't display any notifications for other events (such as the alarm clock, new text messages, calendar notifications etc) which means I can't cancel them so when I soft reset my phone I get 5 minutes odd of the phone ringing, and MemMaid doesn't seem to be able to get rid of them
3. Not a Blackberry issue but my phone just completely stops working at 72% battery life, bearing in mind this is a replacement provided by O2 and is supposedly brand new do I need to do anything likefully discharge the battery in boot mode or something like that.
I remember reading something but browsing the forum over GPRS is a bit painful so please if someone knows the right thread if you could reply to this would really appreciate it, won't be back near a proper net connection for about 6 days so stuck with GPRS for the moment (not got a 3G enabled SIM yet, meant to have but O2 sent one which wasn't and are now taking an age to sort it out).
Thanks
G
I live in an area where I have great fun with the X1 and it's low signal strength. I have 2 bars of standard connection (GPRS/GSM) until I pick the phone up, and then I have no signal at all. The thing is, what really drives me nuts is getting a SMS, picking the phone up and writing the reply, then putting the phone down for about 15 seconds whilst waiting for a signal, then pressing "Send" without picking it up again! It is sooo annoying! My Nokia 6500 Classic kept its signal all the time! Anyways, this wouldn't be so bad if the phone held the message until it got a signal then sent it instead of displaying that stupid ***** "Message couldn't be sent. Retry?" red message. The Palm Threaded SMS App is almost a perfect work around but has various issues and doesn't like MMS very much. Is there a good SMS/MMS program out there to get round my woes? How difficult can it be to hold a message in "Outbox" till you have a signal!
And no, changing operator is not an option. It's O2 by the way.
Thanks in advance.
mate, this annoys me so much. i have gotten in so much trouble with the missus for not texting her back when in reality the phone has not sent the message and i havent looked for the confirmation cos i turned them off with xperia tweak...
This is a windows mobile problem and it doesn't seem anyone has an answer.
