Fixed the GPRS issue last week with the UserID downgrade. Works a treat - can get connected every time now no problem. I have another issue now getting connected to my IMAP4 server from my MDA! It has worked fine since the GPRS fix was applied but in the last couple of days has developed this issue:
It seems that if I soft reset, then I can get my mail the first time I connect, but after that, whichever IMAP4 mailbox I try to connect to (I have 2 setup) I just get Receiving Headers shown at the bottom and eventually a message saying it timed out trying to connect to the mailbox. I can connect fine from my desktop using Outlook 2003 to the same mailboxes.
It is not GPRS as I can browse in IE fine.
Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Paul

I have read all the posts related to using active sync and firewalls and other issues, but just can't get it to work normally unless I:
I fully stop 2 services on my XP machine:
- Cisco Systems, Inc. VPN Service
- McAfee Framework Service
This does not make me happy at all.
Anyone any ideas?

Regarding Cisco VPN, go to the connection manager part and select your connection. In the transport tab, select 'allow local LAN access'. Otherwise, the system will not allow the connection between the MDA and activesync to complete (routing the traffic towards your VPN network, obviously not what you want).
thanks for the hint, but i am afraid it makes no difference. well at least not on my machine (IBM T42)
As per the other experiences. This is what happens once i have plugged in the cable:
- establishes tcp/ip connection and issues ip address.
- then tries to connect over this connection and sits there endlessly
once I have stopped both the services mentioned above it connects succesfully.
I can't seem to find a way of configuring the cisco vpn or macafee software to allow a succesful connection.
Has anybody notice that now activesync with the imate JASJAR goes very very slow to sync (whem it syncs, not all the times... ) compared with my old iPaq 4350 using the same activesync 4.1?
Thanks in advance.

well I seem to have resolved the issues. It turns out there was an option "Stateful Firewall (always on)" selected in the VPN client. Unticking this box obviously did the job.

I am trying to use dial-up via bluetooth so I can use my phone as a modem to connect my notebook PC to the internet via GPRS but the notebook doesn't find any dial-up services... Is there any other way? I bought this phone to give me the ablility to do just about everything and this is something I assumed it had, migrating over from a Sony Ericsson P900. :x

Actually I have trouble in connecting to GPRS.The error message I am getting is

"The answering modem has disconnected.
To check your connection settings andchange them if needed, tap settings."
I have checked all my settings they all are correct.I also talked to my service provider they also checked my phone and said all settings are correct.
They also tell me that there is no problem from their side.
I also tried hard reset of my phone but the problem is stills their.

GPRS connection issue
I have an Orange SPV M2000 (Blue Angel). Had all sorts of problems with GPRS coonection. Eventually found a fix on a random web site. Activsync was running in the background, even when I wasn't syncing. Not normally a problem but... Go into Settings, Memory, Programs running, and manually stop Activsync, and GPRS connect seemlessly.
Hope this helps
I m from india having O2 Xda mini (black) model working with BSNL connection, but theGPRS connectivity is not working. I tried even with BSNL people but of no help.
i just recently purchased an unlocked O2 XDA Trion and besides the normal problems, it has been operating nicely.. however i would like to know if there is any possible way to obtain the physical address of the ethernet card in the phone(if there is one) as i need it to manually register my phone to access the Wifi.
also i have been gettin problems using MSN Messenger, Pocket MsN, and Windows Live Messenger on the phone. my GPRS (Cingular) has been set up accordingly and i have been able to access the internet wit it, but cannot get any of my IM clients to work

Start Comm Manager.
Go to WLAN Settings...
Go to Advanced tab (you'll find your MAC address)
the wifi mac is also under the battery above the imei/serial number of the phone.

Ok guys, throw me a bone here. And I did used the 'Search' button.
I've recently bought and HTC x7500 (wm5). Coming from a Blackberry (8800) obviously I would love to have Blackberry Connect working on the x7500. I'm on BIS (not BES). My carrier is Cingular in the US and I my account was already provisioned and working with BIS very nicely.
I tried both, BBC version 4.0.0.67 and 2.1.2.31. After several install, uninstalls, resets, everytime I get the same results. The Identity tab on the BBC app shows:
PIN: Pending
IMEI: Radio Off
IP Address: No Connection
CURIOUSLY, out of desperation I tried my wife's Cingular SIM card (unlimited internet, NO Blackberry account at all) and this one DID generated a PIN and connection, but no IP address.
Did noticed in all cases that the BBC software never did created a blackberry connection (blackberry.net APN). I did once tried creating one by hand with my account SIM and it could connect manually and even browse the internet with this APN. But BBC wouldn't.
I then, again, tried with my account sim and both BBC versions to no avail.
My Blackberry 8800 works fine with this account/sim card.
My x7500 is:
ROM version: 1.25.405.2 (03/09/07)
Radio version: 1.38.00.00
ExtROM version: 1.25.405.103
