Is anyone else having problems with Smart Devices Direct? I ordered my 9100 from them 30 days ago, they took the money from my account and now they are not replying to emails or phone calls?
Is everything ok with the company? Should I report them to my bank?

I believe you can now dispute this with your credit card company, since I believe they have to provide goods or services within 30 days of the charge. I'm sorry that you've had to go through this, since many posts of msmobiles.com and HowardForums.com were allegedly showing SmartDevicesDirect to be very misleading regarding the pre-ordering of the Qtek 9100 and/or i-mate K-JAM.
I would highly recommend that you try one of these other dealers (no affiliation) if you have room on your card to charge, while you're waiting for the other one to get refunded back to your card:

Send [email protected] an email and/or send a fax. They sent a batch out Monday and it sounds like you were probably in the first one given the date you placed your order.

I am Robin from Smart Devices, here is an extract from a mail our MD Keith sent to a customer earlier- ...'I can understand your frustration and apologise. I hope you can perhaps also understand that the several changes in the delivery dates for the Qtek 9100 has been very challenging for our company. We have endeavoured to accurately relay the delivery information provided to us by the supplier and it has been particularly disappointing as we have been receiving supplies of the Imate KJAMS and JASJARS.
We have offered all our customers the opportunity to either cancel with an immediate refund, change to an equivalent device or continue to wait for the product to arrive.
The latest delivery for the 9100 is supposed to be around the 14th'...
The Imate kjam delivery was insufficient for our total requirement, before we could offer our 9100 customers this as an alternative the full UK stocks were sold.
We have 2 commits for the 9100, one 'next week' and the other 'by the 19th'.

We will tell you the best we can do, it is not in our interest to let you guys down and we have tried to be as up front as we can, 'warts and all' as they say.
Interesting how it's just a cut and paste of someone's else response to a ANOTHER customer's grief.
Considering you've been getting nowhere with previous calls or emails to the company and that they're simply asking you to continue to make calls or emails to try to get your money back, I think it's best to take it up to the third-party, your bank or credit card company. Credit card disputes look bad on any company, but at least you'll have their attention for real instead of public 'damage control' such as this email is depicting.
C'mon, don't make this a tragedy.
At least the guy took some time to register an account here and post personally. I don't blame SDD for the whole Qtek 9100 delay. The suppliers have been late even for Expansys. After the first batch (October 5) we now have two more dates: October 14 and 19.
One of those two will be the good one! 8)

Robin is a good guy. He's been emailing me updates about stock and even spoke with me over the phone. The fact of the matter is, if you ordered around 30 days ago (like me) you're saving around £40 pre-tax compared to prices now! It's definitely worth the wait. If it slips into next month I'll start to consider withdrawing my order.
very happy with the service i had from SDD in the UK, and the other good thing here in the UK is that payment cannot be taken unless the goods can be shipped if you order via mailorder, (unless ordered just for you)

Delt with Smart Devices myself , the company I work for where looking for PDA's to use in the field and the Wizzard was on the list . I gave them a ring and they where very imformative , in fact more so than my mobile operator who stated on the phone that they supported edge. Smart Devices helped me through this and it ment that they missed out on a sale because they helped me! They refunded my credit card immediately I see them as honest and friendly. Is it really there fault that their suppliers let them down.. Embarrasing for them, yes, as they trust their suppliers as we trust them to supply us. Always catch 21 being the middle man, especially on a high demand device as the wizard.

Its worse than that: they are charging the customer for something they don't even own.
Plus he only registered here to try and protect his image - they all know that these message boards are where the early adopter opinion leaders are.
And its awful that he just cut and pasted a response from another situation. That's as insincere as you can get.
I too delt with them and had similar expereince as wardy. They are a decent company (smartdevices) and do their best. Manufacturers I think are the ones that mess the retailers around and pass on bad info to the consumers
The manufacturer cannot be blamed for a retailer dipping their hand into the customers credit card when the clearly have nothing on hand to sell. That one is just not excusable.
Shipping dates do change, but what is beyond debate is that the product is not in stock. So what are the taking they customer's money for?
I worked for a manufacturing company before and I can't imagine any of the retailers we sell to ever charging their cutomers before they themselves had the product on hand. The only exception would be if it was a custom made order.
After reading the above comments, I will certainly buy from SDD.
14 October is the next date for the Qtek 9100. Crossing fingers...
I agree, it is out of line taking the money up front... I believe the only reason they do this is because their store and transaction handler cannot be set up any other way.
They need some sort of pre-order system.
SDD is a great company to work with and they are very responsive if you call or fax. E-mail and their online forms seem to be an issue however I am very pleased with their customer service for all of the products they sell.
TNT/DHL on the other hand are crap to deal with however it is about the fastest way to get product from UK to US without all of the hassles.

They have been totally up front with me and I received my k-jam yesterday from them. No issues, great communication. Called them several times between early preoder and ship of device. always answered the phone and spent time to explain exactly what was going on. Always responded to e-mails too. These guys do a good job given unreliable information from manufactures and suppliers. I would definitely do business with them again without question.

We are unable to get a confirmed delivery from our supplier and in confidence we were requested to change the detailed 9100 spec on our web site yesterday. When we advised you of the Sept 1 st delivery we had reconfirmed this information with senior sales and product mangement at our supplier but they have been unable to get a solid ship date from QTEK/ HTC.They have 10,000 units on order for deilvery before Xmas, all of which are presold.

Yup, dates kept changing on main site for me (looking at expansys.co.uk). Received mail confirming shipping on Tuesday 3rd of May, so I guess this is happening.
Well they said 3rd May confirmed,, lets see
total preorders by 28th April 2011= 281
stock expected= 500
Warehouse in Uk and France, Mine will be shipped from UK where as on 2nd they will have stock in France and they will ship it on 3rd.

I Called DHL and they said that following are new requirements for Dubai Custom
1. shipment Product's "Country of Origin".
2. Sender should Mention on invoice, its for "Personal use"
3. HS Code (Harmonized System Code) of the products.
Please note that without above details, shipment will not be cleared by Dubai customs, so please make sure its mentioned.
I suggest different people should find out any such particular requirements for your Custom authorities.

Friend of mine did the same back with his HD2 with the result that with Amazon then he had to wait 6 weeks since all preorders were worked down by Amazon and he was last on the list .................
Just spoke to someone from Expansys UK and they said they have it in stock and is expecting to ship it tomorrow.
Someone call expansys uk and see if they are being truthful

Handtek are reknown for advertising a product way in advance giving false information just to get customers to pre-order and take their money.
Then come the day they mysteriously don't have stock.
Look at their site on the 32GB version. They are taking pre-orders at just over £700 a phone and taking the money now........ As we know there's no sign when and if the 32GB model will be shipped.

Not a thing... Because Samsung said there would be a 32GB version at some stage sellers can advertise it if they want. However it's all a question of who do you help.. yourself or your customers.
I clearly remember when the Galaxy S was being advertised by Samsung that it would be available in both 8GB and 16GB models.
Clove and Handtek soon started advertising both models for pre-sales taking monies.
However it soon became clear the larger 16GB model was going to carriers only.
Clove then stopped advertising the 16GB model but Handtek carried on.
I contacted Handtek informing them that no SIM FREE 16GB model would be coming to them...
This though did not stop them carrying on taking pre-orders and money for a phone they would not get.
In the end all those who had pre-ordered the 16GB model were instead offered the smaller 8GB.
Basically, Handtek are a business and businesses have to operate tight in order to keep them afloat. It's how they effect customers though which should be their priority.

I went with Handtec on that basis.
Of course I will get it.
Just supicious of the ever changing dates.

As I have already said Guys, it's all a ploy to get you to order with them early.
Handtek do this time after time after time.... They will tell you an early date so as to get you to pre-order and part with your hard earned cash then come the day of shipment it's then mysteriously been put back for some reason not of their doing.
At worse is when they advertise a product and take pre-orders with payment for goods that simply there is no known date, sometimes these products will not even make it to their stores. Take a look at their advertisement of the Galaxy Note 32GB model here. You will notice they are taking pre-orders but we are not even sure yet the 32GB will come to SIM FREE.
Clove on the other hand are being honest... They have no idea either but unlike Handtek they don't advertise nor take pre-orders or cash.
I will say they will ship orders on the same day that Clove ship.
Any place that takes your money when you preorder is questionable.

It's all a question of timing....
If a product has an unknown date or a date that is weeks away then yes, a pre-order with funds debited from credit cards should not take place.
If however a product has a known date that falls within a week or so then yes a pre-order with funds debited is to be expected from sellers who take orders in mass block.
The reason why they take funds prior to shipment is because they need to have your payment record complete. If not and you have not paid they then need to either contact you again or contact your credit card company which all takes time prior to shipment.
When these sellers who deal in mass block (could be a couple of hundred orders) obviously they want to get out as many orders in the day as possible. However, having to recontact the buyer or their credit card company all adds to delays which in turn makes an angry would be customer waiting for his/her order.
So, technically Handtek are doing the right thing in getting all details including payment out of the way.... However, where they then spoil it is by either taking the funds far, far too early or taking funds for items that clearly they will not receive.
Clove on the other hand only advertise when they know an item will be released at some stage and only take funds within nearer the release (I think mine was taken 10 days prior to the Nov 3rd expected date).
Note:
Clove have only recently started to do pre-orders with payment.
They used to only take pre-orders but found new orders these days are much much higher in demand. As such under their old way of operating they simply did not have the time in the day to complete all orders in one day.
It is regrettable yes but at least the pre-order with payment in this case does at the least guarantee the day they receive stock from the wholesalers it gets shipped to the buyer either that very same day or the day after.
Hope that helps clear things up a bit......
I just checked with them in regards to my preorder - they confirmed that they have received a bunch of units, which will be shipped out today. My order was for the cheaper "operator branded" version, which they haven't received yet but are are apparently still expecting sometime later today as well.
Obviously we won't know anything for sure until people start getting their tracking numbers, but I have spoken to them several times and while this is the first order I have placed with them I have been pretty impressed with their professionalism. Didn't like the live chat though - they were kind of useless as far as pre-sales questions go (plus I got cut off several times), so I reverted to just calling and speaking to sales, who have been really helpful.......
Price has dropped. As per handtec:

I just got my price difference refund in 15 minutes.

My order went through on October 26th, and he said today that this was a fairly early order so will be in the first batch - so yours will definitely go out first. If I'd known the price of the standard version was going to drop I probably would have ordered that instead - but I'm sure the operator logo is easily removed (not that it would matter if it wasn't). Just hope these branded units come in quickly.

Called them again today and was told that they have shipped orders till the OCt 24th.
Mine was on 26th and will be shipped out tomorrow.

I pre-ordered Sept. 7th....was my order shipped? I have no tracking information.
Anyone else having issues with Fedex holding your shipment due to the fact that they have to "inspect the package thoroughly" ?
I have been waiting for my MXPE since Wednesday, and every call I make to Fedex seems to have a new twist to the original story. My phone is in "transit" from Memphis, Tennessee since Tuesday.
At first I was under the impression of the Pope's visit causing delays, but does not seem so. Does anyone have suggestions as to what to do in this case, seeing as Fedex doesnt know how long they're holding it for?
Mine has been in Customs hell since early Thursday morning. The message says "Shipment documentation indicates value discrepancy. Correct value of shipment is required." At this point, who knows how accurate that is. Original FedEx delivery date was the 28th, but that has since changed to No ETA at this time."

Mine was in customs last week starting the very early AM of Saturday and did not get released until Monday around 5:30pm and then I received my phone that Tuesday morning
ALL MXPE orders coming from Motorola go through the "clearance delay" or some type of customs issue. There is a huge thread/complaint about this on Android Central forums - http://forums.androidcentral.com/mo...oto-x-style-order-shipping-discussion-67.html. The bulk of the "complaints" or talk of it is around page 50 or post #1100.
My first order of 2 phones went through it. It took about 2 days before it was shipped out. My replacement that was shipped out 1-2 days ago is now in Memphis TN and has the same message. It should be cleared up by either Sunday or Monday and should be delivered the next day by 10:30am.

I was supposed to get mine on the 22nd. Of course not even close and since then got one from Amazon. One or both are going back, not happy with it being over a week late and the one from Amazon having issues. Any other comparable phone I can get for VZW that I an root?

Strange. Mine shipped direct from China as well, but without any issues. FedEx picked it up on Monday the 21st and I received it the next day. I ordered mine direct from Moto's customization page.
Mine showed customs delay for about eight hours. After that it was out of customs and is currently still on track for Tuesday delivery.

I've been a Samsung die-hard since the first Galaxy but with the introduction of the S6 it all went downhill for me. LG sucks, HTC is too expensive and Moto had a clear 8-lane highway with no traffic with a 200-MPH sports car to make me their customer... but this dumd a$$3$ forgot to tell the driver he needed to know how to drive a manual transmission and therefore my package is now delayed. Yes that was an analogy, so simple any other company could've done it. Obviously Moto is not up to par with the big boys. Just want my damn phone already. I even took the 28th and 29th off so I would have enough time to play with the phones. #FMLMoto #MotoFailure #BigFail

My tracking info looks exactly the same as yours, even the time stamp
mine had an expected delivery 10:30 am today in NY as of last night. today it's "pending"
with the last update from friday that its in transit in memphis friday morning.
Mines in the same state since I found out it was on Clearance Delay on Friday(9/25). Called FedEx up, and was suppose to get a call back so I could provide the info they needed(correct value of shipment). Didn't get a call back.
Called them again on Saturday, and I got a call first thing this morning from FedEx, and the lady stated that there is nothing they can do and are waiting on the shipper to provide the necessary paperwork to get it out of 'delay' status. She stated, my item might have no issues at all, but it's part of a shipment of other items(on a pallet), and it can't leave until it gets the proper paperwork... wtf.... she even stated she don't know how long it will be in that state..
Motorola support provided some answer into this problem. It seems Motorola ships our phones in patches. And when they reach Memphis port, the patches will be randomly pulled by US customs to check for proper documentation and such. This is usually cleared within 2 business days. That's why Motorola usually adds 2 business days to the estimated delivery time to account for these random customs check.
Here's mine that was stuck in customs random check for 2 days.
Mine is still in Customs delay from Thursday night.
Whatever, Nexus announcement is tomorrow. Probably all the best I didn't get my Pure two weeks ago when it was promised.

Take what they tell you with a grain of salt. All MXPE's that I've seen and even on AndroidCentral (http://forums.androidcentral.com/mo...y-moto-x-style-order-shipping-discussion.html), every package has gone through this "clearance delay"
My first package has gone through it and my 2nd package is also the same.
In AndroidCentral, people have gotten different response multiple times. Ranges from there is no delay, it's just FedEx to the proper documents have been submitted to consumers shouldn't be seeing any of those messages.
Contacting FedEx is a mute point as well because they'll bounce it back to Motorola say that they're waiting for documents, etc.

I have a Metawatch (strata and frame) that i daily use and a Weloop Tommy smartwatch (that one is just for fun).
I like the hack ability of the weloop Tommy but it's battery is not good (never been) it's empty after 2 days .
I found in the "Weloop Tommy" threat someone mentioning the SMA-Q smartwatch.
I don't now the SMA "brand" but it looks like a nice smartwatch.

Does someone knows the SMA smartwatch company? They seem to have made another watch that uses analog time and leds to show you information on your wrist. But i can't find much (english info) about them.

I also decided to risk this. Bought the Tommy when that came out and it turned out to be great.
Interested to test this thing out, no idea about the brand but looks like a pretty good upgrade to the Tommy.. Will try and compare to my mates Pebble Time too.
Sending back my faulty GWatch and this could be a bargain replacement!

She stated the memo said they would receive new shipments in 1-3 weeks. Just thought I'd let everyone know since I'm sure, like me, there are members here waiting for the re-release.
Grain of salt?? This entire Samsung episode and the process of returning my N7 has made me very salty. I got grains for days.
I was told by a rep last week that by this Friday they would have them in stock.
listening to reps of any carriers is useless, i called in more then few they all tell me different ****tnanagens. BUT, i did got some answer from Samsung USA help hotline manager and say that they are dealing with the some kind of gov. approval or something. 2-3 weeks. and that was last week already. maybe beginning of the last week of the month i assuming.

You're correct. Samsung has indicated that existing owners get priority replacement before sales of new devices.
As long as you understand that "selling in 1-3 weeks" means to those who have never owned the device. Replacements for those with the device should be MUCH sooner.

i spoke to t-mo 2 days ago and was told they have not been given a timeframe yet. but i assume since the cpsc got involved it will be longer then we want as they apparently need to approve the devices in the U.S. before we see them and if they wanna hold off on approving them then we will have to wait until they say ok. which i am sure they will catch hell for if it's not a quick approval. but they could find a faulty unit and say no. we will have to wait and see though

I knew it was too good to be true. Some people still seem to think replacements will arrive sometime this week. I highly doubt it. The 1-3 week timeframe is optimistic as it is. For what it's worth, Samsung may have given Tmo the timeframe before the CPSC got involved.
At this point, I'm waiting to see whether the V20 is coming out before the Note 7 is re-released. I'll get whichever is available first.

I'll believe it when they're in the stores. I've been lied to so much by T-Mobile over the past week I won't even believe the sun rises in the east until I see it with my own two eyes.
I'm going to be pushing that promotion for all it's worth. When my loaner S7 Edge comes, I'm reaching for the VR. When the replacement Note 7 is in, it'll be another SD card. It's too bad I can't jam that up T-Mobile's ass.
Samsung's announcement said the 21st. We'll see.

I suspect so if the color you want is in stock. Blue wasn't available on the first day, and the news of toaster Note 7s started to hit the next week.
You'll be getting a new EIP if what the senior customer service rep told me is accurate. Take that with a boulder of salt.
